Overnight stay in our motorhome and had drinks in the evening and breakfast the following morning. Staff very friendly and the traditional breakfast was great.

Group of 8 family and friends went here for Sunday lunch. We were seated in a seperate room with just us in very cosy and comfortable. The food was amazing all cooked to perfection. Lots of choice of vegetables and wonderful gravy. All plates were cleared and all said how lovely the meal and atmosphere had been. Very pleasant and caring staff. Will return

We stayed in one of the pubs cottages with a hot tub. The cottage was beautiful, really cosy. Ate in the restaurant, gorgeous food. Paula made this break great. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She was really hardworking and always with a smile.

We stayed at the Bluebell on Friday the 13th September 2024 We had a lovely warm welcome from Paula who was running the hotel whilst the owners were on holiday She explained where everything was , she sorted us a nice table next to the lovely coal fire which she had just made , it was lovely to see the flames and feel the warmth What a lovely venue to enjoy a drink and relax Nothing was too much trouble for Paula or Evie our lovely waitress , they made everything so easy

We booked our table for 16 people (5.30pm Saturday)the week previously and Paula (who was extremely helpful) asked if we could pay a £10 deposit per head. £160 was paid. Paula asked if we could ring our food choices prior to the day. More than 24 hours before our table booking (1030am Friday ), I rang with our food choices and also to advise that 3 of our party had Covid and unable to attend. I was told by a lady that we would loose £30 for the three people as it was less than 24 hours before( which it wasn’t) and the lady on the phone explained they had already ordered the food (not given our food choices at the point) and employed more staff. I expressed that I was unhappy with this and given the fact less than 20% of the party had cancelled, I felt it was poor customer service to keep £30 and not knock the full £160 paid off the bill which was still for 13 people who had mains, puddings, coffee, drinks and wine. I would have thought that the lady I spoke to might have thought differently about what was said and on the day would have taken the full £160 off. Unfortunately not, £130 was deducted and the Blue Bell Pub kept £30. The service on the night was excellent and the food was good, Paula was extremely lovely but unfortunately given the fact they withheld £30, I certainty will not be returning. Poor choice from your Management with this rule. If you had deducted the full £160 we paid, we would have highly recommended your pub and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Lovely village hotel and restaurant. The room was very clean and food and service excellent. We were well looked after by Pauline and her daughter for dinner Although slightly higher price food than most, we had the Lamb Shank which was one of the best we had ever had and worth every penny. This is a difficult one as the hotel and facilities were excellent. we booked through Hotels.com and put pet friendly in the search criteria to which the Blue Bell came up. upon arrival we were warmly greeted and shown to our room which was lovely. We sat outside with our 3 small dogs and had a few beers enjoying the sunny afternoon and looking forward to our evening meal which we had booked in for. i was approached by the owner when i went back into the bar and asked if i was staying, when I replied yes he advised that their policy was for 2 dogs only but as we were there he would have to let us stay. i explained that we booked online and there was no mention of quantity of dogs. the dogs are crated and we don't leave them so when i was told if they were noisy we would be asked to leave it ruined our day, i had to tell my wife who wanted to leave there and then but as we had a drink we couldn't. i checked on the website and there was no mention of the amount of dogs allowed. its a shame as we come up every tear for a charity event for Many Tears dog rescue and the location was perfect, but due to the way i was spoken too I'm afraid it wont be there again.

I have been here lots of time under the previous ownership, and were in the area yesterday and stopped to see if they had room for 2 for Sunday Lunch. The place is exactly the same as it was before, but really is in need of a refurbishment as the decor must be 25 yrs old and looks very tired. Both our chairs had stains on them from food dropped from previous occupants. Staff were friendly and efficient but that is where the similarity with what we had before here. The Soup of the day was vegetable which sounded great so was ordered by me and Rachel had Wild Mushrooms on Ciabatta. I did not complain at the time, but the homemade soup was either a Knorr packet soup or possibly even just veg stock cubes. There was no vegetables in it at all, just a clearest stock. The reason I know it was a powder soup is because it's what I was brought up on ! Rachel's Wild Mushrooms were just button and chestnut mushrooms in what was a nice creamy sauce. Why would a place looking for favourable reviews do such things. A vegetable soup is not hard to make well. Main of Roast pork and crackling was nice, but Broccoli was well past best and was yellowish not green and mash was very lumpy. Again two basic errors in what is meant to be a good food establishment that feels as if there is no checks and balances by the owners. Crackling was excellent though. Having had many happy times at the Blue Bell, we won't be returning as there are too many great places to eat in the are. Its a shame as it was brilliant under Jay and team.

This was our second visit to this wonderful establishment where we awarded five stars based on our amazing experience. This was a belated birthday treat for my wife which we shared with her parents. Yet again what a wonderful warm welcome with everything set out exactly how we requested to accommodate my wife and her wheelchair. We were then offered drinks and advised of the specials. The menu just looked as inviting as ever with some new additions giving us even more choice. It is great to see that wherever possible the ingredients are sourced locally then cooked to perfection by skilful chefs with an eye for exquisite presentation. Nothing was rushed, all at our pace where we felt very well looked after. The only shame is that we can only score five stars because from the minute we arrived everything was so seamless demonstrating a team that very much knows their craft delivering to the very highest of standards. Very well done guys as you are a credit to the business and your highly satisfied guests. Note for all, the feedback above was also consistently delivered verbally to the team before we left. We had a lovely dog-friendly stay here. We were well looked after by Paula and Evie. The food was really delicious and there was a real fire in the main bar area. We also found the room really warm, which was lovely! Just because it's April, doesn't mean it's not cold. It was also a quiet pub, which we loved, as we were looking for a peaceful rest. We'll definitely return.

Absolutely fantastic food and service

Just home from yet another visit to the Blue Bell and we were not disappointed. During this stay our dog was unwell and they couldn't have been more helpful, even offering to cook her chicken and rice which was really appreciated. It is the little touches that matter. The food was excellent as usual. We love the Blue Bell as we relax within minutes of arriving hence we return again and again. The hot tub and the log burner with the piece and quiet topped with the dog friendly pub and excellent food is a no brainer. We will be back.....again x

Absolutely brilliant Sunday lunch in a great setting with a wonderful atmosphere. The food was delicious beautifully cooked and incredible presentation. Overnight stay in one of the two junior champagne suites - the other (the room we got same time the previous year) has a large parasol/umbrella for use with the hot tub, ours did not... both rooms cost the same. Enquired about this and was informed that it had been broken by a previous guest and never replaced or repaired. So no privacy from the other apartments overlooking the hot tub or other guests using the adjacent access alleyway, and no way to keep the rain off. On previous stay the year before, disposable flip-flops were provided for getting to and from the hot tub, which is surrounded by loose stones; however these are no longer provided. Instead, square black plastic stepping stone tiles are left next to the hot tub - but no external lighting is present, so it's difficult to see where you're stepping and quite hazardous. Loose flagstone on step down to hot tub, with a traffic cone plonked on top of it. Loose screws on interior door handle on the access door from the room to the courtyard containing the hot tub, meaning it comes away from the door no matter how carefully/gently you pull it. The bed, wood-burning stove, and bathroom were all lovely, and the contact we had with the staff was fine in terms of customer service. However, the lack of upkeep and maintenance was disappointing considering the price of the room.

Stayed here on NYE with hubby and our pooch. What an absolute gem of a place. Proper country pub. Charming, cosy and beautifully decorated for Christmas. We received the warmest welcome from the super friendly staff and were made to feel completely at home. Our double room was perfect and dinner and breakfast were delicious. Attention to detail was second to none and the complimentary glass of champagne to ring in the New Year was a lovely touch. Our stay was perfect and we loved how dog friendly everyone was. Excellent nights stay in comfortable and quiet rooms whilst in the area visiting family. Only used the restaurant for breakfast but this was excellent. Main reason for choosing The Blue Bell was because they allow dogs to stay. We were made very welcome when we had ours with us in the bar in the evening. Will definitely consider staying again in the future.

A ladies Christmas evening, what can I say… the place looks absolutely amazing so Christmassy! Lights, real tree and roaring fire! A very very good festive feel to it. The food was absolutely fantastic not only did it look stunning it tasted divine! Best turkey I’ve ever tasted so so juicy and cooked to absolute perfection!

Fantastic, efficient, understanding service. Unusually for a review, I’ve not actually stayed at or visited the hotel but, after our vehicle struggled in the snow, we called Julia and her team to beg for a room for the night, and they very kindly began to ready one at ten to midnight. We couldn’t turn down the road to the hotel because it was blocked and, by the time we navigated through the snow, reached main roads. I called Julia to let her know and she couldn’t have been more understanding or kind. I will make a point of visiting for a drink or a meal at some stage! Thank you!!!!

I picked out this pub as convenient for Castle Howard and Bridlington, our two destinations. We were staying overnight and were in the Laurent Perrier room, which is across the car park in a separate building. A very comfortable and large room. The facilities were good and the bed comfortable. Large car park and extra outside the cottages where we stayed, plus more outside the pub. We'd booked for evening meal which was in the bar, and conveniently situated near an open fire as it was a cold night. A range of food options. The food was good. Slightly more expensive than an average pub. Breakfast next day was in the restaurant. Help yourself cereals and a cooked breakfast with toast. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. It has a nice atmosphere and character. Will definitely stay again if in the area.

Well where do I even begin to start me and my husband stayed over night in one of the blue bells luxurious suits and all I can say is you will not be disappointed. From the moment we walked in the bar we where made to feel so welcome paula who greeted us gave us the best welcome ever she was very attentive and nothing was to much trouble there was a beautiful open fire burning which was so cosy, and as for the three course meal well that was just superb and so was breakfast the next day, I've not stopped raving about this fabulous place we will be back thank you paula and the owners for making our stay truly wonderful.

We stayed for my husbands birthday. Sunday lunch was delicious as always. Staff are friendly but also very professional. Busy restaurant with a great atmosphere and a lovely fire !! We stayed in the champagne suite which was beautifully decorated and everything we could have needed was there. Log burner already to light, hot tub, great tea and coffee facilities, bathrobes, comfortable bed. Breakfast excellent too. We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend!! On Saturday 11th November we had the pleasure of visiting the Blue Bell Inn at Weaverthorpe for lunch. At the time of booking we advised the very helpful and courteous Manager who gave her name as Paula that my wife is a wheelchair user and would be better seated nearer to the door for ease of access, I was assured this wasn’t a problem. On arrival we were greeted and taken to our table which was set out beautifully as requested. Once settled we were offered drinks and my wife Helen was guided expertly through the huge selection of Gins. We had studied the menu online and was advised on the day of the specials available and was asked if any of us had any allergies. The food was outstanding and for the record I had scallops to start followed by halibut and Helen had cream of mushrooms and fillet steak. Helen has MS and struggles to cut her food which I do for her, and when Paula came to see if everything was ok she had realised that Helen takes a while to eat. We were then asked if we would like a little longer between courses and would Helen like her steak cutting up in the kitchen so we could both eat our meals together whilst still hot, how lovely? So there we were beautiful food, roaring fire and excellent attentive service, what more could one ask for? Days like these for many of us have become even more of a treat with spiralling costs on almost everything and as it stands I couldn’t find a better place to invest your money. Everything was seamless between the kitchen and front of house and what I fail to understand is why so many eateries struggle with the basics of providing good produce and customer service. Not here though! We would highly recommend the Blue Bell Inn to anyone who appreciates the finer things in life and is actually delivering on it. Just before leaving the owner Karl introduced himself to us and I advised him my only problem is you have Yorkshire Blonde on draft and I have to Drive!! We came across this little gem whilst looking for somewhere to stay as we had an early funeral the next morning and it was close by. The rooms were extremely comfortable with all facilities, a very cosy dining area with open fire, friendly banter and an excellent meal with extremely moreish Pinot Blush. Its just a shame we were there for a funeral.. Will definitely be back under more pleasurable circumstances. I can definitely recommend the Fillet, compliments to the Chef.

Comfortable stay in a small double and twin room for one night. Clean rooms and en suites, tasty breakfast and attentive restaurant staff. The Inn is presented more as a restaurant with rooms, rather than having a pub area for general drinking. We were fed by family on the evening we were in Weaverthorpe so unable to comment on the dinner menu but the photos available looked amazing. We would book to stay again.

Just returned from a nights stay at this little gem. We booked the Champagne Junior Suite which came complete with hot tub and log burning fire. We knew we’d booked a winner from the moment we arrived and was greeted like old friends. The staff here are an absolute credit. Warm and welcoming and always on hand to help. Our room was clean, warm and cosy. The high beamed ceilings made it very spacious and the furnishings complemented it further. We had our evening meal at the Inn and… just wow ! Tempura prawn starters were to die for, a lovely touch of a palate cleansing lemon sorbet and then the main. We both chose steak and they just melted in the mouth. The JD sauce was worth the visit alone. The hot tub was everything you’d imagine and very roomy. We ended our night in the comfortable bed with the roaring log fire. Next morning, the included breakfast was just as delicious with juice, cereal and toast all available to help yourself before a cooked breakfast. To end a long winded review, we absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be back.

The Blue Bell at Weaverfhorpe is a superb country retreat away from the hustle and bustle! You are welcomed by Karl and Julia and their pooches Maggie and Max! We stayed in the cosy champagne suite with a roaring log burner and hot tub which is a real treat! The Blue Bell restaurant offers a superb menu and the food is always amazing! We woud highly recommend to anyone and look fwd to our next stay next month!

This was second visit to this pub/restaurant and it did not disappoint. You can always guarantee three things in this fine establishment; the service, the food and wine. What more could you ask for? The staff are absolutely incredible and there is nothing that they will not try to do to make your experience even more incredible. Excellent overnight stay with fantastic full "Yorkshire" breakfast. Host very friendly and room nice and comfy.

Cute little place well-located as long as you're driving, ideal for a short stay near Scarborough, Filey beach or the North Yorkshire Moors. Restaurant is great quality for breakfast and evening meals (just don't expect to pay student rates!)
