We have passed the fox and rabbit inn for several years and always thought it looked appealing from the outside, with the fantastic weather at the weekend we decided to stop and enjoy a drink and some food in the pleasant outdoor seating area. We received a warm friendly welcome Along with fantastic food and service. Well priced home-cooked food would highly recommend.

What a lovely treat to return to our favourite pub on the North York Moors. We called in here last year on a cycling trip. (This time the journey was far less strenuous as we travelled by car) We chose to sit outside and enjoy the glorious early evening weather. We had sea bass from the specials board and steak pie from the main menu, both cooked to perfection. All the staff were just as friendly and attentive as our last visit. Faultless from start to finish.

Well to start with, the welcoming to the pub was brilliant. It is a pet friendly place but even humans are very welcome. The pub is exceptionally clean and very tidy. The menu has something that even a difficult person like myself will find plenty to enjoy. The fish and chips are very, very fresh and delicious. Had the liver and bacon and that was equally delicious. My other half has not stopped talking about the fish pie. Obviously the best she has tasted. Not only was the food beyond excellent, the wine was perfect and the 'Timmy Taylor' bitter was more than perfect. Pity it can only get 5 stars, well worth more and not stupidly expensive for the quality. All the staff we met were very friendly and are a valuable asset to the pub. Jim and Janice

We did a motorhome stopover here. The CL site is quite large and well kept, each pitch has electric hook up and water, at £30 per night it is quite expensive with no discount for eating or drinking in the pub, unlike other similar stopovers we have done (Ship Inn, Sewerby). The pub itself is nice, with friendly helpful staff, the food was good, but again a little on the pricey side. Location is great with good views from the outside seating area, and plenty of nearby walking trails to be enjoyed. In summary a good pub and CL site but a little expensive.

Set in the rolling hills of the Yorkshire moors, this is a quiet campsite, well maintained and great for touring the local area. We slept well as it was so peaceful. No-one bothered us and it gave us some much needed rest. The old inn itself, was busy but quietly and efficiently run. We just sat and watched the world go by. The staff at the pub couldn’t do enough and the Sunday roast was absolutely fabulous- I went for the beef; tender and served with steaming hot veg, a huge Yorkshire pudding, crispy roast potatoes and lashings of tasty gravy. My husband plumped for the lamb shank with veg, new potatoes and a huge Yorkshire pudding- beautiful 👌 If you aren’t there over a weekend, the local ham, egg, homemade chips and onion rings was also ❤️ And, if you like homemade meringues… We are already planning to return. Well done to all at the Fox and Rabbit and thank you for a wonderful stay- see you again soon. Jo & Pete

The pub was very old school and atmospheric. The menus seemed a little limited at lunchtime but we got a lovely steak and blue cheese sandwich with chips each, and they were delicious. Our 4 year old said the chicken nuggets and chips were the best he's ever had, and I have to agree with him! We sat at the front, which had lots of benches and umbrellas to keep you shaded. It was a sun trap and a nice place to watch the many motorbikes whizz past

Booked a Sunday lunch for seven people. Superb! Roasts are absolutely stunning, best I've had in a long time! Pork terrific, beef terrific, I had the lamb shank for a few quid more but it was sensational. Fish and chips also very, very tasty. Great atmosphere and lovely people! Worth booking though, it gets really busy around Sunday lunchtime. But if you're within ten miles it's well worth a visit! Parking is ample, extra overflow carpark.

Gorgeous pub. Very cosy and welcoming. I was gutted when I ordered the steak pie @£18.95 and expecting a proper home made pie. What actually arrived was a ceramic dish filled with stew and a thin layer of pastry (like a fleuron) This is NOT a pie! A proper pie has pastry on the bottom, top and sides and is filled with lovely succulent pie filling. Please don’t advertise this as a pie as it’s isn’t! It wasn’t worth anywhere near £19. I’d have paid more than that if it were a proper pie! Nice staff though!

Tale of 2 reviews this and I hope for a response! Booked in and was busy which is always a good sign. They allow dogs too - brillant for us. Place was warm and even had mobile fan heaters for the corners which were a bit chillier. Beer menu is good, all hand pulled. Menu was good but I could decide to asked if they do a trio of meats and was told no. I assume they must be a business reason for this, as in 100 of each each day or something and a slice of each will mess with these numbers. Otherwise it’s daft not doin so. Could easily charge £25 for a trio and greedy people like me would order it! The food was great too. Went with the pork in the end as Sony cook that at home and it was perfect. Veg was plentiful too. Place took a dip when I wanted to pay. Asked the waiter for the bill and she said ok. And waited. Then realised that you go and pay at the bar. And had to queue for almost 10 mins to pay. Tbf some one was paying cash for a £250 meal so that took a while to sort. But the person taking the money was also doin drinks. This put bit of a downer on the experience. Shld be a bill and pay at the table. These changes would help in my opinion but the place is clearly killing it so they’ll prob think why change a cash cow! Will I be back? Prob as they accept dogs which gives them a head start on most places
