Spent the afternoon at Duncombe Park and found cafe shut when we were ready for our afternoon coffee. Common problem in UK. What are tourists supposed to do after attractions close and before dinner? No wonder Costa and Starbucks are so popular.

This looked like a lovely little cafe so we decided to try it for some lunch. Upon entering we were shown to a table and the waitress soon came to take our order. The tea and hot chocolate arrived quickly and then we sat and waited and waited some more for our food. The couple on the next table who ordered just before us asked where their food was and we heard the woman in the kitchen shouting. A waitress came out and said there had been a mix up but their food was being prepared now. As it was now 40 minutes since our drinks arrived we decided we could not wait any longer for our panini and jacket. We went to the till and told the girl that we only wanted to pay for the drinks as we had been waiting too long for the food. The girl just said “ok”, with no apology whatsoever. I actually had to ask her what the issue was with the food which she then admitted she had not put the ticket in. They might have just been having an off day, but this was really dreadful customer service and we will not be back.

Nice welcome on entering, shown to a corner table for two. Immediately decided to find another table due to extremely loud lady on next table . Ordered two Coffee's, One Fruit Scone and One Carrot Cake. Coffee was fine, Carrot Cake was stale, very low quality and a "Blind Tasting" would not identified as Carrot Cake. Fruit Scone was on the Small side, served with Jam and Cream but no Butter ?. Total bill of over £14 would have been just bearable if the Quality had been a lot higher. Very disappointed.

We came here today with family, and our 3 small dogs, as it is a dog friendly place. Two of our dogs are nervous, and are much happier on laps. Both dogs are harmless. We were told to put the dogs on the floor due to hygiene reasons. But in a matter of fact manor. Secondly I ordered a chocolate milkshake, but it was more like a very sweet caramel milkshake. Not sure what went wrong! I did return it back, for it to sent back out to me with more caramel added and even more sweeter, without a hint of chocolate colour. We also ordered several brie, bacon and cranberry panini’s, and was promised crispy bacon. We were served soggy panini’s and the bacon was not crispy. Overpriced for what we received, and generally staff we not overly friendly. Unsatisfied experience 😔

After checking trip advisor, called in for cake and coffee after a hill walk. Service prompt, polite. 4 good cakes eaten. Scone was good - squirty whipped cream (as ordered) let it down. I'd rather pay for clotted cream - but that's my choice. Nice cosy cafe.

Friendly girls taking orders but unfortunately we weren't impressed. The baked potatoes were frozen ones no different to a mccain one and the Greek salad was awful..the cheese tasted off and the salad was dry and needed dressing on it . Certainly not worth the price , .try the Sandwick shop next door..much better value.

Visited for lunch. As a coeliac who is lactose intolerant I never get cake but today I had a magnificent choc orange gluten free dairy free cake that not only tasted amazing but absolutely made my day. Whilst driving around and admiring the scenery, we stopped in Helmsley. What a beautiful little town. I loved it...needed some sustenance, so we called in at Crema Coffee House for a quick pit-stop. I just had a cold drink but the other half had a pot of tea and a slice of Victoria Sponge. Both looked lovely and were reasonably priced. It was a very warm day so we sat in the small courtyard garden at the back of the shop. Would recommend...great little place.

Looked inviting, it was raining so we ventured in and ordered. Falafel salad came without hummus and a tiny side of couscous was ice-cold. Straight from the fridge. They charged an extra pound for one pitta, which should really have been part of a £9 dish. My two companions ordered paninis and the restaurant couldn’t be bothered to cook some potato chips to serve with this. Instead they laid out a few cheap crisps from a bag. For this delight they charged £8. Overpriced for lazy, mediocre food.

We visited twice in a week. Once for drinks and cake and once for a light lunch. Downstairs the Covid preparation is really good and that is five stars. The second time we went they sent us upstairs which is not ventilated and doesn't appear to be as Covid secure which is strange. The drinks we got were ok. My son got the wrong drink and the mocha was ok but not the best. The second time we went it said they did gluten free pitta bread but they didn't have it available. They didn't have brie and so none of us had our first choice. The toastie wasn't toasted well but tbf the filling was very generous. My son got his first choice drink the second time and said the milkshake was delicious. Overall it is a nice place but I'm not blown away. I think with a few tweaks it could be better.

The staff were lacking any real manner and sense of welcome. We wont be coming back. The place looked like a lovely cosy cafe to grab something to eat after a long walk, but we couldn't wait to get out of there. Despite being the first couple to be seated downstairs, we were immediately forgotten when a pair of young gentlemen were sat on the table next to us. Their orders were taken first, and we waited another 10 minutes before anyone approached us. When they did, we were left feeling unwanted to say the least. This place has a great deal of potential. They just need the staff to back them up. Very poor indeed... also, the coffee is average.

Loads of space and seating throughout. As we had a rare visit from the sun we opted to sit outside. Only downside was the wasps wanted to visit too. After a little rearranging we got setting and managed to enjoy our top quality breakfast. For £7 the full English is certainly that. Good amount of food served and scrambled eggs to die for. I chose the simper option of a bacon butty (bacon sandwich) which was beautiful. No sign of any fat at all, not greasy and really thick. Nice to finally find a cafe with quality food rather than the cheap fatty options. Coffees and cappuccinos really tasty too.

We've visited quite a few times in recent years whenever we've been in the area (most recently in September 2018). Although the prices are a bit steep, the friendly staff and excellent service more than make up for it, however this time it was a very disappointing visit. We walked in to find it empty except for two rather bored staff members. No warm welcome, an uncomfortable atmosphere, poor quality drinks, and dirty cups and cutlery. Maybe this is the reason we found it empty. I think we'll try somewhere different next time.

Great flavours in the panini, not necessarily high end ingredients but coupled with fresh salad and a lovely whole grain mustard dressing combined with a vibrant coleslaw I would hail it as a triumph. Soup was good and sandwich had fresh bread and good quality ham. Cappuccino was decent with standard two shots of rich rounded coffee, good froth and a very pleasant dusting of sweet cocoa. Helmsley is awash with places to eat and drink so the Crema Coffee House was a random choice based on the look of the premises. We went to the upstairs part and seated at a window with a view onto the thoroughfare below. Menu had a fair choice and, as the title suggests, we chose Paninis with a coffee. First to arrive was the coffee, which, in view of the delay to the meal, was far too early. Coffee almost drunk, meal arrived. Substantial enough with a salad and my pet hate kettle chips. A few proper chips would have given it full marks. Nothing special to raise it above the rest but then it was ONLY a Panini!

We came in for lunch last Sunday. We went to look and see if there was any space in their outside eating area, but as there was only two small tables out there it was understandably full. We sat down and after a slight wait we were seen to with the dogs being given fresh water. I had changed my mind from quiche to a sandwich and they were nice enough about so that was good. However, after being asked if my sister wanted a sandwich not a toastie at least 3 times they still got it wrong. They also failed to give me iced water even though I specified really icy water as I know I can be a pain in the bum. Additionally, even though this may sound nit picky they didn’t ask if I liked my quiche warm or cold. As a cold quiche fan I would’ve been dissatisfied had it been warm. Overall it was an average lunch and we might try other places in Helmsley before returning.

We popped in here with our two young children at the end of an afternoon in Helmsley. The tea room is a quaint English tea room offering everything you would expect. It's small and cramped, I w

Quite expensive for what you get. Small portions. Bland food. Coffee not great. Very cold. We only visited as it was the first coffee shop we came across and because it is dog friendly and offers soya milk. Very disappointing overall.

In all the years we’ve been visiting Helmsley we’ve never ever been to this cafe and how pleasantly surprised we were too. We had leek and potato soup, it was very hot but dreadfully tasteless and like hot dish water. It was very peppery and gave it a kick, but lacking substance and flavour and seem watered down, somehow. The cappuccino and latte were the best things we had. The prices are good and the cakes look Devine, but you might need to re-examin your soup! So would we go again? I’m sure we would, but would never have the soup and would go, but wouldn’t make a special effort.

I feel so guilty that I've never eaten lunch here before - and I only live round the corner! My wife and I had lunch here today and it was great - such tasty food and friendly staff. Sometimes staff can "appear" to be friendly but you see right through it as just a marketing thing and it's not genuine - but this was different and genuine friendliness, without being over the top!

We called in for coffee as they offered soya milk . It was a cold wet day and unfortunately our spirits were not lifted . It was depressingly dark and cold inside but the coffee was excellent as was the friendliness of the staff.

Absolutely loved this pub/restaurant. We sat outside with our dog at one of numerous tables and had a delicious Sunday lunch. So much flavour in the meat and the roast potatoes were the best. A bit pricey but worth it for the setting, the food, the service and the landlord brought out some steak pieces for the dogs to share. Amazing.

It would look like I’m beating a drum for this pub! But we keep going back because to be honest it is just such good value. Tried their two steaks for £20, choice of rump, sirloin or ribeye, we both went for sirloin, superb, cooked as we wanted, medium rare, salad, mushrooms, peas, onion rings, and a separate bowl of chips. You must try it! I also think you will find it harder to get a better pint of bitter, landlady told me lines are cleaned at the change of every barrel as well as normal cleaning.

A great menu choice, with both set menu and a la carte, we went a la carte. Halibut, scallop, veal, pork, cheese and gooseberry brandy snap, all were beautifully presented, delicious and perfect portions. We chose a couple of glasses of recommended wines and they were excellent choices. Staff were lovely. All in all a fantastic evening.
