First time visiting, the staff were very welcoming and friendly. I had the Sunday lunch which was delicious and my husband had a very generous portion of chilli nachos that he said were spot on, we were greedy and shared an excellent sticky toffee pudding with custard. The black sheep beer went down a treat too, we'll definitely be back.

The food was tasteless, I had Jerked chicken which was so bland, salt and pepper would have given a bigger kick. Whilst I appreciate that they must cater for every one with no heat in the dish it should not be called Jerked chicken. My daughter in law had the Chilli Nachos yet again no spice as she described it as just like minced beef. When we told the waitress who asked if everything was OK we simply got a disinterested "oh sorry about that" not interested at all. The bar man served my daughter in law then served a local his beer telling my wife who he had seen go to the bar with my daughter in law "ill serve you next" Very poor service. The pub is poorly lit which does not create an ambience it merely looks dingy. Portion sizes are reasonable and not overly expensive, that said when the side salad is the tastiest thing on your plate it's not that good value.

Excellent visit with great food and atmosphere. Fantastic dog friendly pub serving good value drinks and really tasty food (we had the lamb burger with feta and caramelised onion from the Specials board, the halloumi fajitas and the chicken fajitas). Especially loved the singer Connor Lawlor, who was brill and took my request to do a excellent cover of Tom Perry’s Free Fallin’ - a wonderful night out!

We have camped here on many occasions and also tend to have a few meals here during our stay. We ate here this evening, I had the beef and ale pie and my partner had the lamb shank. Both were cooked to perfection, with an excellent selection of fresh vegetables and potatoes. The meal was one of the best we have eaten in a very long time. All tasted like farm to table food. Portions were generous and the pie was packed with beef and encased in absolutely gorgeous shortcrust pastry...well done chef 👍

We were there for 12 noon opening, arriving with some other customers. We asked if they were doing food and we were informed they were and welcomed into the establishment. A great selection of real ales, ciders, lagers and soft drink. We ordered steak and ale pie. Probably the finest quality home made pie we have eaten. Great chips and mushy peas too. You wont be disappointed by the portion either, it’s huge. Great little pub with a lovely atmosphere and welcoming attentive staff.

We stayed here with our caravan for a little two day trip. It is the first time we have ever stayed on a pub site before we it look nice so though we would give it a go. It’s a nice little site with electric hook up, a good size play park, covered outdoor seating area, pot washing area and toilet block. The food is excellent and MASSIVE portions, we even asked for something off the menu and it was no problem for them. The chef was lovely and so were the bar staff.

The other cubicle was occupied and after flushing the occupant opened the door and left without washing her hands...None other than the waitress who had delivered our meal...need I say more?

We were recommended this place by a local holiday home owner. We booked a table after reading the menu on their website We arrived to be told that a couple of meals were not available. We ordered the hunters chicken. It was patently obvious that the hunter had hunted in Iceland, Farm Foods or another discount freezer shop. Rubbery Chicken cheese and bacon straight from freezer to microwave and then to the table. My wife after much deliberating ordered the burger. Again an Iceland etc. burger and chips. We left most of both meals and then left the pub, never to return.Avoid like the plague.

This is a great country pub. It's great value, the food's amazing and they offer "no holds barred" camping both with and without electric right outside. Just a few points that were a bit of a downer, and for others to note;Wine glasses all seemed to be borderline mucky. My wife had to wipe someones lipstick from hers ...and later that evening the barman give me a fresh glass but then took it back because (in his words) it was "dicey".If camping, watch out for dog poo. Others don't always clean up dog mess and if you encounter some (like I did) you'll struggle to get away from the smell all night! Obviously, not always something the landlord can control.Again, if camping on the electric pitches directly at the back of the pub you might hear some noise in the beer garden - enough to wake a child at times. The local young farmers turned up during our stay, on what we thought would be a quiet Sunday night, and they didn't leave the beer garden until nearly 11pm.

A lovely 5 night stay on the bank holiday. There is only one shower for the whole site so need to be creative with when you want to use - but it is a very good shower - hot and warm heater in the room. Would have prefered a bit more cleaning of the toilets and shower, but I am a bit obsessive with dirt. Unisex toilets would be good to make full use of the two male and one female. The pub is lovely, the site is quiet and relaxing, overall well worth the £50.

We really enjoyed the providence inn camping experience for 5 days, good facilities and a large park for the kids who we hardly ever seen as they just larked about the site. We had lunch food was good service good couldn’t ask for more. My only gripe was pitch 5 that we were on. It wasn’t long enough as it meets the gravel and we had no where to put our guy ropes to support the front porch and with the weather our front porch was constantly soaked. This is our local and has always been good for a family tea but we were left uncertain and a little disappointed. The young man behind the bar was not welcoming no smile and barely spoke to us. Wine glass had lipstick on it so asked for a clean glass which he did action but whilst sat at table we heard "she's checking the glass. They are all like that it's just watermarks." Did not appreciate this and if not had children to feed would have left then. We know the difference between water marks and lipstick. Interestingly later a very pleasant and friendly lady told him the glasses needed to be put through the washer twice. This lady when she arrived smiled as she walked past us to check the fire. She served our food checked we were ok and offered additional gravy.... good service.....When setting us up the young man simply plunked mats and unpolished cutlery down no interaction with us at all. Had to go to bar to order food and to order all drinks and to request bill at end. The food was edible although the steak had been ordered rare it was more like medium but it was ok and unfortunately the fish contained lots of bones which luckily was an adult eating it but concern that smaller portions are offered for children - if my young daughter had had fish we would potentially have a safety concern. Nothing said to us but as nobody came to take order I ordered at the bar perhaps this could be clear to avoid confusion? When we approached to pay we weren't asked for feedback again served by the young man. As we left the lady cheerily said goodbye and thanked us. Whilst it was not horrendous it definitely could be better. It doesn't take much to have clean unmarked glasses and cutlery and certainly doesn't take much to smile and give good service particularly to be welcoming. Given that there was only us there could they not have actually served us ie taken order at table, spoken to us, checked for additional drinks etc. There is definitely room for improvement hopeful for improvement for spring as we go often when nice as great having the park too for young child.

I was intrigued by the cream of cauliflower + cheese soup so ordered this to start, while my wife opted for garlic mushrooms. In both cases we were not disappointed. The main courses were also top quality - my wife's steak pie was good while I went for the mushroom stroganoff (with added steak...). Somehow we fitted dessert in as well, and coffee. The real ales on the bar were also well kept.In summary, good food, well presented and at a reasonable price. Looking forward to our next visit.

Great view over fields and my two girls didn't find the playgroud a disappointment. Missed having swings but owners said these are on their way next year? The food in the pub was fantastic, so I think the new chef has definitely found his feet. I had the seafood and chorizo linguine from the specials board, which was packed with scallops, squid and king prawns and was delicious! Found this delightful pub a short distance from our holiday let on Hartswood Farm. Welcoming to all with children and dogs. Food was freshly prepared and very tasty! Nice pint of Guinness to wash it down too!

My sister, her dog and I called in here on Saturday 14 September on our way home from an East Yorkshire coast holiday. We missed so many eateries and pubs due to signage too close to the places (meaning that due to heavy holiday traffic meant turning back into said traffic) and I'm so glad that fate was on our side! We happened along this gem later in the afternoon and after enquiring if dogs were allowed in the dining area (yes) we began perusing the menu. Being a vegetarian, I have difficulty finding something special to eat but this time was SO different. I've eaten mushroom stroganoff many times but this was the best! Sis was happy with her meat meal (can't remember what she ordered because I was so intent on identifying what made this stroganoff different and better than any other, but I did have a spoonful of her delicious rhubarb crumble). I mentioned to the waitress that it was the best mushroom stroganoff I'd ever eaten and moments later, she brought the chef out so that I could compliment him on his recipe. He was very humble, but 'chuffed' about what I'd said. Sooo much better vegetarian offering than the one earlier in the week in a different pub. Two photos of the stroganoff and one photo of the burger I tried to eat ('finished plate') earlier. Next year's East Yorkshire coast's holiday I will make sure my sis takes us back to the Perseverence in Yedingham on our way back home. I've made three versions of mushroom stroganoff since coming home but can't get the 'right/same' taste yet, so will keep on experimenting.

Called in on a Tues afternoon because we knew the pub had a play area for the grandkids.Had a good pint of Wainwrights and a Stella for the wife served by very friendly young lady.Kids enjoyed themselves running around the field trying out the 4 slides and swings and playing on the boat! Chef happily did us a portion of chips for the youngest and then another wanted chicken nuggets, they luckily did goujons which were very tasty and tender served with salad and coleslaw.Kids didn't want to leave so we will def back and will try out the menu ourselves.

Spent 2 nights in the caravan site behind the Providence. Facilities are really good, with everything you need for your stay. Dined in the pub on the first night, steak pie and chips excellent, sea bass delicious. There's a really friendly atmosphere to this place, the owners even put a dart board up for us so that ewe could have a game on the second night. Beer was good, enjoyed the Wainwright and Guinness in particular - a bit too much really!

We visited the providence today for the first time. The staff were very warm, welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. The outside play area was a big hit with the little one. The food is fresh and home cooked by the resident French chef and is simply fantastic. We are already planning our next visit.

Stopped for a beer (good) and saw Sunday Lunches being served. To appetising to refuse. Excellent quality and very fairly priced. Certainly worth a repeat visit in the near future. Planning on a return with grandkids as big play area. Well done to all at The Providence.

Our friends who live in the area told us a new team had taken over here and it had good comments about the food so we went yesterday (8th May) for lunch. Good friendly welcoming reception from the staff. We ordered drinks at the bar and then a lady came to take our order. The seating was comfortable and the whole place lovely and warm as it was chilly and raining outside. Our food arrived and wow it looked amazing. 2 of us had lasagne with chips, side salad and garlic bread, 1 had the scampi with new potatoes and side salad and the other person had the gammon eggs and chips also with a side salad. We all agreed the meals were spot on and delicious. The bill was approx £29.00 main courses were all £4.95 each. Great value for money. Definitely recommend and the new team must have worked their socks off to produce a clean pub with great food. The lunch menu had about 6 choices and it was difficult to choose. Nice tidy car park. Give this pub a visit I’m sure you won’t be disappointed we certainly weren’t.

Well what can i say, ive visited this pub for many years and have been so dissapointed over the last 5 years. Its so nice to get a warm welcome on my return. Friendly staff, very assertive, me and my family were looked after so well.I had a steak which was cooked perfect and not over priced in the slightest. My son had a burger which he said was "spot on" my daughter had the steak pie and there was nothing left on the plate! We will definitely be back...probably every week with only been on the doorstep. Keep up the hood job guys! Your doing great !

We had been told that the pub had new management and they had connections to the 3 Jollies at Burniston which is always good, so we went along. When we arrived at about 7pm on a midweek night there was only 2 cars in the carpark and appeared to be little action, were they open?As I went to see a very nice young lady came to the door said it was open and come inside to look at the menu. The place was very clean, nice and warm with afire lit. There was one table with a family enjoying a meal which looked well presented. So I went and collected my wife who was still in the car. The staff were very friendly and well trained. The beer was well kept and was good The food was excellent but nothing fancy. The prices were very reasonable. The only downside was we could have done without the TV although it was not loud,we like to go out and avoid the rubbish on the TV. It will not be long before we will return and we are sure the carpark will be full.

Stopped here as we spotted the kids play equipment and needed something to eat. Very friendly staff and the food was excellent (and good value). Plenty of play equipment but some of it is dated and needs updating but the kids loved it regardless.

Just got back from a lovely belly filling meal at this great village pub. It’s just been taken over by new owners and we called last minute with two hungry children and they were able fit us in. I had the steak which was great quality and perfectly cooked. The steak pies and all the other meals members of our party ordered also were a hit. Excellent value.

Don't want to get too personal but this is an example of a very badly run pub, management who don't want to work & they employ an extremely rude barmaid. They constantly run out of beer & the food is okay but unimaginative it's a cute little pub but with the lack of both good food & beers, the fire is barely lit & a good clean in the ladies toilet might be an idea this sweet little village is being torn apart by the current management of this pub which seems to be there just for the occasional caravan visitors & not the people who want & need it - it's a great shame. On the plus side, it is newly decorated but lacking that homely feel & there is a very nice beer garden, just a shame about the reason the place is empty - "there is no good leadersip".

We had called in this pub after a long journey (4hours) we had 3 kids and they were so disprectfull towards them it was a disgrace, we waited over a hour for food which came out cold and under cooked. The beer was off, the kids Coca-Cola was very watery, The toilets looked like they have never been cleaned, The staff which there was only 2 (this is a family accommodation) wasn’t helpful after we complained about our food, it was more or less shut up and put up, Please avoid this place never again will my family return to this place. The only good thing about this place was the exit out!!!!!! AVOID

This pubs strap line is "Where you can always be assured of a warm and friendly welcome" and it describes itself as ideal for kids. I have never felt more unwelcome in any pub in my life. Went in for a family meal whilst on hols locally. There were 3 people in the pub and we were welcomed with a glare from the woman behind the bar no smile, no hello. I went to the bar with the intention of asking where we should sit and before I could say anything the woman on the bar said, in a very nasty manner, they (my 3 boys) are not allowed at the bar. Yes...they are not, but they are children and did not know and had she been a little more hospitable she could have directed us to a table and had a nice little earner in the till. Instead we left without a word and went to a much more welcoming pub down the road.....your loss. Lessons in hospitality required here.

The Providence was a favourite of ours for years and then unfortunately went down hill. I'm happy to report it's on the up again. The bar is refurbished and looks lovely now with a pool table. The campsite now has a lovely new shower and toilet block and outdoor lighting. With a bit better menu i'd give it 5 stars as the food is just your standard pub grub, nice enough but not amazing. We have stayed 5 nights over two visits this year and will certainty stay again and have no problem recommending it... beautiful views and riverside location.
