The Grapes Inn in Ryedale

10/10 pub. Spent the weekend in the area and we came back here every night. Great atmosphere, food (home made steak pie and the fish and chips were delicious) and friendly people were the real highlight!!

Absolutely phenomenal food in a lovely local village pub. I was happy to sit down to a three course meal of modern pub food with the perfect amount of adaptation. The staff were lovely and friendly and we got to enjoy a traditional country pub atmosphere. PS. Plenty of parking and good drinks choices.

Sadly the Sunday roast dinner was poor. We both had the beef, with each receiving one inedible slice and one delicious. Roast potatoes were so overcooked they would have broken the floor if dropped.

Nice quiet local pub. The friendly staff managed to fit us in at the end of the sitting for Sunday lunch which was amazing. Beef filled Yorkshire pudding to start, roast pork with all the trimmings. Really good find off the beaten path.

Absolutely fantastic meal. Superb hospitality, roaring log burner, reasonably priced and very dog friendly. We highly recommend.

We’ve been lucky enough to eat here twice in one week. Frat the Christmas menu, then the standard menu. Super friendly service, really lovely and helpful. Menus are so good it’s difficult to choose. Quality of food is excellent, both times. Highly recommend. Loved the mackerel pate starter, fish and chips were awesome. Desserts are superb.

Excellent Sunday afternoon at The Grapes Inn, we went as a large group of adults & children, very welcoming , excellent service & fantastic value for money ! Above all the food was fabulous! We ordered a variety of meals including Sunday Roast, fish & chips , steak pie, kids meals & all were equally delicious! On top of the main meals a number of us managed to fit in a dessert , again a great selection & can personally recommend the passion fruit crème brûlée & homemade shortbread. Visited Sunday 1st October for Sunday lunch. Hosts were very welcoming, food was exceptional, all freshly home cooked. Will definitely revisit.

I attended with a friend and had the most amazing roast pork lunch. It is a credit to the owners. How lucky are the people of this village to have this hostelry on their doorstep. Just lovely. We will return . Well done team grapes.

Had the pleasure of visiting Th Grapes Inn with friends for a Sunday Roast. The Roast Beef with Yorkshire pudding was amazing, roasties to die for and the creamiest mash with fresh seasonal veg. Have to say all choices at our table where if exceptional level and very well priced. Lovely cosy traditional pub with great service. Well worth a visit and would recommend booking in advance as was very popular. Great service too. Thanks to the team can’t wait to return.

We were driving around chasing a Sunday roast and got here with minutes to spare...the lovely staff squeezed us in and the food didn't disappoint! The roast pork and beef with roasties and Yorkshire puds were amazing!! Thanks again!

Probally the worst spaghetti carbonara I have ever had. The plate was piled with bland spaghetti, plus some overdone bacon lardons and nothing else that I could taste. This place used to be so busy with great food, but not any more. It’s Saturday evening, admittedly early , ( about 6pm ) and there was no one in the dining room and only ourselves and another couple in the bar eating, that to me is a good indicator of its popularity. My husband had roast duck done with noodles …. Again all bland noodles , and they didn’t go particularly well with the duck ! On a positive note the young lady behind the bar was lovely and we couldn’t fault the wine, shame about the food. We will not be returning.

Visited here Friday 14th July 2023 for dinner. We were staying local and this was shown as a place to eat. Rang and booked yet when we arrived we and one other couple were the only diners. Not a large menu but priced ok. The food was ok but the batter on my fish was overdone and too crispy.

Had a lovely meal with friends. The fish and chips were gorgeous- fresh fish, and the best chips I’ve eaten in a long time. Finished off with a passion fruit crème brûlée. Excellent service too.

Fantastic little spot in one of Yorkshire Dales villages. I stopped for dinner mid way through a motorcycle ride and really enjoyed the food, seemed freshly cooked and prepared. The classic pub feel and ambiance was good in the summer and it looks like they have log burners for winter - Staff were great and really friendly. Will be returning and would 100% recommend to anyone up that way.

We’d heard good things about the pubs new ownership, so the wife and I visited for Sunday dinner. A very warm greeting from Holly behind the bar when we arrived and she was very accommodating and helpful as we brought our 10 week old daughter with us. The food was divine. One of the best Sunday dinners I’ve had. It arrived in a timely manner and was amazing value for money. We had a fresh cooked 3 course meal and drink for under £25. They were more than happy to help us warm a bottle for the baby and even charge my phone when it died. We will most certainly come back again

I am so glad to have stumbled upon this adorable little pub! Me and my partner thought the pub looked really cute as we were passing through the area, so decided to stop in for a quick drink. The landlady was lovely and made us feel so welcome from the second we walked in. We saw (and could smell) that the pub serves food so we ended up ordering from their specials board. We genuinely couldn’t fault the food which was served, and as we left the pub me and my partner immediately told each other we’d be coming back again. I don’t usually leave reviews but felt that this special little place deserves one more than most! And it’s dog friendly too!!

First time we have been to The Grapes since it was taken over we had a delicious meal last night highly recommend it. The service was good all the food was excellent thank you for all your hard work we wish you all the best in your new venture we will definitely return.

Excellent food and service. We visited this lovely cozy pub for Sunday Lunch. The food was all home made using local ingredients. The meal was very reasonably priced and the service was excellent. We shall definitely be visiting again. The pub is also dog friendly with water bowls and free doggy treats on the bar. We and our dog were made to feel very welcome. This pub is made up of several rooms so could be used for a small private function as well as just a family/friends meal out. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area

Amazing visit to the grapes yesterday. Cosy clean pub, friendly staff and the food was absolutely fantastic. Steak was perfectly cooked, tasty chips and one of the nicest Stilton sauces the table had tasted, and the hot scotch egg starter was spot on with a runny yolk. Highly recommended this lovely spot

Lovely cosey pub with some lovely genuine people running it. Chris the chef/landlord made us some amazing steaks that were cooked perfectly and really well priced. Anyone who goes should try the Stilton steak sauce. It was amazing, I could have ordered a second to eat on its own! My partner had a scotch egg and it was tasty with a delightfully runny yolk, a pun staple done as well as you could ask. We will be returning.

After our first visit on Good Friday, we promised to go back, and we did yesterday. The Sunday lunch was fantastic. The scotch egg for starters was amazing, and the mushrooms were the best I've ever tasted. A couple of the recent reviews are very unfair (but there's no pleasing everyone!). The food is good quality, very tasty and there is plenty of it. We found it very good value for money. Reviews should be balanced, fair, helpful to others, and based on the services offered. If you want 'sausage, egg and chips' go to a cafe, not a country village pub with home cooked meals. I'll never understand why people don't raise any issues at the time and give the staff the opportunity for them to be resolved, instead of offering negative (and sometimes irrelevant) 'reviews' when they get home. The current owners (Holly and Chris) are very friendly and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. We can not fault either of our visits and will most definitely be back again soon to try out some more of the dishes on offer. Would definitely recommend.

EXCELLENT SERVICE EVERY TIME BEST MEALS IN THE DISTRICT

The service was five stars and you couldn't find fault with the staff, everyone was very polite and friendly and very attentive. it was a lovely atmosphere just what you want from a rural pub. The only downside is the entrees was just about average but the deserts where all home-made even the custard which definitely scored some more points.

Having a trip down memory lane. Used to go here for Sunday lunch many years ago as a child. Same cosy pub, obviously new owners both very welcoming. The food was fabulous I had the chicken in mushroom sauce my partner had a steak. Would highly recommend a visit.

Superb meal last Saturday to the extent we were back this evening. Dishes are a cut above pub-grub but excellent value. Recommend; Scallops with crab risotto and Duck breast with Dauphinoise potatoes.
