The best restaurants serving British food in West Midlands

We happen to drop in on the way past, we ordered Sunday roast with cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets. It was excellent value, piping hot and a fantastic atmosphere with open fires!

If you have never eaten at the Dog and Partridge then you really have missed out on lovely food and fantastic service. Six of us met up on Saturday night for a birthday celebration. The bar was full of locals watching the football and the rugby, but as our table was in a cosy room at the far end of the building we didn't hear a thing apart from when Wolves scored! It's a good idea to have a look at the menu online before you go as there are so many choices, and options within those choices. If you can't find anything on this menu that takes your fancy then you are impossible to please. We enjoyed and can recommend the minty lamb pie, braised brisket, hunters chicken and giant filled Yorkshire pud. Generous portions and all delicious. Desserts of ice creams, lemon cheesecake, syrup sponge and chocolate orange cake were also really tasty and thoroughly enjoyed. Our server for the evening was Laura and she deserves an extra-special mention. This is a lady who radiates first-rate customer service. Efficient, smiley, witty and caring; she is a gem. Our thanks also to Becky, one of the lovely staff, who baked a superb birthday cake for us and visited our table to ensure all was well. If you are looking for great food at a reasonable price, plenty of choice at the bar and top notch customer service, then look no further than this wonderful venue.

Fabulous Sunday lunch. Food is back on in this great village pub. Service is great, food is really good, staff are friendly, dogs are welcome and value is just right. We had the Sunday roast beef and apple crumble for aftershock and it was spot-on. Well done Jon & Alex, Evan and the team.

Shame, what looks nice on the outside is left a bit wanting on the inside. Very limited choice of ale.

Beautiful food the last two times we have been. 2 for 1 deal in January enticed us back and we could not fault anything. Service and food excellent.

We went for Sunday lunch, which was on a £10 offer, which, to be honest, was all it was worth. The beef was good but difficult to eat as the knife was so blunt. There are lots of different vegetables but only 2 tiny roast potatoes and no mash. Very thin watery gravy and barely warm. Annoying, there wasn't any salt and pepper on the table and we weren't offered horseradish or mustard though it was brought out upon request. The food took an age to come, though the bar was quiet. It's not somewhere we'd re visit. Certainly not worth nearly an hours drive to get there. Bar wasn't cosy, and furniture was uncomfortable. Their social media posts are very good, though.

Never ordered a rump sandwich before as I find it too chewy but today at the drill was not short of a revelation it was beautiful and the accompliments also the wine too . I'll definitely be goin back ..ps great staff 👍🍺

When you only have 2 vegetarian meals on the menu and they don’t have one is not a great start. Ordered the food and only a handful of people at the pub but it still took 45 mins for our food to arrive. The roast diner was not good at all. The beef was ok and so were the vegetables. The mash was awful the potatoes had clearly boiled into the water and it was bland and lumpy. The Yorkshire had failed to rise so it was like eating a pancake. Cabbage was stone cold and frozen roast potatoes really? Food here used to be great but since the change of ownership it has seen a terrible decline. We won’t be eating at this local pub again unfortunately.

Had another lovely evening and dinner experience, particularly the authentic French bouillabaisse special, which was the best ever. You’re always guaranteed a warm, inviting and friendly welcome by all of the staff. If you’re after a great atmosphere and food at good value, in an authentic pub environment, then you won’t go wrong by paying a visit. Look forward to visiting again very soon!!

What a lovely meal we had! Such a varied menu and homemade specials, I had the Cottage Pie, my Aunt had the burger, portions are huge!! A lovely welcome, cosy venue will definitely be returning Thank you to all concerned
