Went there for lunch after a walk up the Worcestershire Beacon. The new owners had only taken over two days previously so there wasn’t a full menu available. We had sausage and chips in a basket for £7.50. Generous portions, excellent sausage and chips with focaccia bread. TV with sport on but we were able to sit round the corner so it didn’t disturb us. Very friendly service. Would highly recommend!

We ordered ‘The Laylock Breakfast’ at £13.99 each. Our expectations were high, one because of the price, and two because it was quite busy. Unfortunately our hopes were dashed for a lovely freshly prepared breakfast when we saw it. It looked like the cooking had been done a fair bit earlier as everything on the plate looked dull and a bit sad for itself (it wasn’t that hot either). Special mention should be given to the fried eggs as it looked like they had been batch cooked and then individually cut out of whatever pan they had been cooked in! Aside from the appearance of the food it tasted okay. Another plus was the sausages, they appeared to be good quality. Our experience went down hill a bit at the start when a young woman brought our plates to the table with thumbs hooked on to the plates using two tea towels that looked like they could have done with a good wash. It’s a shame that customers have to have other peoples thumbs and tea towels all over their plates when food is brought to their table (Laylocks are not the only ones who do this), all I can think is that there must be a shortage of trays. I did raise the matter of the tea towels and was told they were stained but were actually clean. Good to hear but why use tea towels that look grubby? Tea for one consisted of a lovely pot of tea (3 cups) with the smallest amount of milk imaginable. I don’t like milky tea but even so there just wasn’t enough milk. All things considered, whilst we were comfortable at our table the main event, ‘breakfast’ was disappointingly poor.

Placed our food order waited 25 minutes, the food came and we had brown bread instead of white like we asked, I asked for no red onion chutney and it had just been scrapped off the bread so I could still taste it and the chips that came with it was such a small portion only about 10 chips. The food was also stone cold. We didn't complain as it was too busy and I didn't want to wait. I would not recommend this pub for food.

Stayed for two nights with a group of car enthusiast. And a great weekend it was thanks to Dan and his staff. Excellent location, good accommodation, relaxed atmosphere, catered for all changes that you get from a mix of 20 people and excellent food for everyone served efficiently. Many of our group have asked to come back next year. It was a 5 Star stay but: I so wanted to give the hotel 5 Stars but the pre-booking and customer contact services are woeful. Various people in the group contacted the hotel with queries and changes and were regularly faced with answerphone messages which were not responded to. We had one couple wanted to stay an extra night and could not raise anyone to make the booking. One couple had to cancel but could not get anyone to pick up the phone or respond to messages. If a manager/owner reads this, your excellent staff deserve better than this. They all worked so hard to make our stay so enjoyable but there jobs are at risk if you cannot sort out your customer contact services at the front end.

Avoid this pub and the brewery that owns it. They ripped me off, HMRC have been informed about the way they operate and pay staff cash to avoid paying tax and national insurance. Tye kitchen is in a terrible state not fit to serve food. The police are watching the pub due to drink drivers constantly drinking in the pub and the. Driving home. I urge people to proceed with caution

Had booked for dinner advising them in advance of our food allergies and intolerances. Whilst we couldn't have the exact menu the chef created two courses for us that were tasty, excellently presented with great friendly service. A really nice place to eat if like us you are seeing a matinee and an evening performance. We also had lunch that day when the restaurant was fully booked but we found a seat in the lobby and our lunch was brought to us with no discernible delay due to their business. It is so good that we will ensure to book a table for lunch next time. A really extensive menu for lunchtime.

The menu was poor, their had been no changes since we stayed last year. My husband ordered the risotto, he didn't expect to have to pull sticks of heards out of his meal.

Came in for afternoon tea and cake. Small selection of sponge cakes on display but no labeling and noone serving. You que at the till, they ask what cake would you like...? Two teas and two slices of cake £14. 15 mins later it arrives at your table...£4.95 for a slice of cake ... outrageous! No forks to eat cake with and no sweetener. Tables are laden with dirty crockery, totally oblivious to the waitress 's toing and froing with costomers orders. Yet another negative review. Are these reviews ever read . Why is the standard of service still so abissmal.

Cold food, cold plates, the place was grubby and the staff looked so bloody miserable. I will not go again, which is a shame as it was so good. I don’t know what has happened to it. But it’s bye from me.
