Went into the pub after work on the way turned out food had stopped at 8 so I couldn't have any not far from closing time a lad went to walk out and the landlord stopped him and started shouted and call all sorts of name and he banned him. The lad asked why and the landlord wouldn’t tell him kept telling him to leave even though that’s what it looked like he was trying to do 🤦♂️

Rarely disappointed with Warners Holme Lacey .Apart from the occasional glitches as on this occasion the blue lift broke down and repairs were still ongoing when we left 48 hrs later. Considerable inconvenience to those disabled wheelchair users, but didnt affect us too much. I would however make a comment about the market kitchen restaurants food presentation. Most of the evening meals were tasty and served hot, unfortunately something not to be said of the fried breakfasts. Eggs and bacon etc cooked earlier and standing albeit on hot plates were far from an acceptable temperature by the the time one has sat down to eat it. Perhaps ordering something from the kitchen and fresh cooked is the answer in future visits. All said and done, not enough criticism to stop us visiting Holme Lacey which has long been one of our favourite venues.

Visited on a Sunday morning for breakfast. We were told it would be £16.50 which seemed a lot but I was prepared to accept it if the quality was high. It was not. The breakfast buffet was disgusting. Nasty, dried-out bacon and cheap seeming sausages. The beans were mostly liquid and the scrambled "eggs" lay there in a pool of liquid. I've been eating cooked breakfasts in hotels for 30 years and this was probably the worst ever. I asked for 4 fried eggs (2 each) and after more than 10 minutes, 2 of them arrived. So far too late for the rest of the food. Mind you, I did go to get a little more bacon to find the receptacle full of bacon which had been over-cooked to the point of incineration. And there were no sausages this time. The staff were defensive with one exception: a young man called Matt whose positive attitude and general humour despite the disasters clearly going on in the kitchen, saved the day. Avoid at all costs!

From start to finish, we had a very pleasant visit. We started with a few drinks by the river as the weather was glorious, we then decided to eat so went to the garden terrace and had a selection of starters to nibble on, they were all extremely tasty and just what we were looking for, the starters were accompanied with delicious sourdough and whipped butter. A very nice visit and we can’t wait to return, the food, service and setting is exceptional

When booking we thought we would have a lovely meal and high quality cocktails.. well what a disappointment. We were told at the start that they needed the table back before 8pm which was fine as we arrived around 6/6:30 which is plenty of time for cocktails and some food however, it took about 20 minutes to get our first round of cocktails which came one by one and by the time our food order was taken it was 7 o’clock. It then took 30 minutes to bring another round of drinks and our starters which were nice. At 7:45 we had empty starter plates on the table and knowing that we needed to be out before 8 it was going to be a push. We asked for another round of drinks and was told ‘no’ because the table was needed! This was BEFORE our mains had even arrived! Eventually the mains and next drinks arrived and the food was okay. The steaks were cooked well but had chewy bits through them which isn’t the chefs fault, the chip bowls contained about 6 fries in each in which we returned and received some more. Lastly, we finally had ordered 2 last drinks and one was a margarita.. well it contained no tequila.. which is a main part (especially when the recipient is a bartender himself 😂). We will not be returning

Unfortunately we didn’t have the best meal, nothing was fresh, the batter on the fish was just not nice, chewy hard , the chips were a mush together, we were hungry but I just couldn’t eat it, I have had some good takeaways before so hopefully they will sort this out.

Wow! Such a beautiful pub in an idyllic setting. My husband and I had the delicious Pate to start followed by roast beef which was second to none. I cannot recommend it highly enough. We enjoy our Sunday roasts and this is hands down the winner in our opinion. Well done and thank you to all the staff 👏

We booked here after a recommendation and we weren’t disappointed. It was a very busy Easter Sunday but staff were friendly and welcoming and locals were as well. The roast dinner was delicious meat perfectly cooked and best roast potatoes I’ve had on an “out” dinner for a long time!! The view is phenomenal and so relaxing on a beautiful day with options of shade too. If we return to Ross-on-Wye we will return here for sure!!!

Popped in for Sunday lunch. Although food was plentiful and staff were efficient, the food quality was poor. I had the lamb which had a strange texture, almost like pre sliced/processed appearance and taste. Vegetables were bland and roast potatoes tasty but not crisp. We paid an extra £5.00 for a small amount of undercooked. cauliflower in cheese sauce. If I'm paying £20.00 for a Sunday lunch I would expect better.
