I regularly stop here on my bike rides for a coffee but after being charged £5.50 for a coffee I will be stopping. I appreciate inflation and cost of living but that is absolute extortion!

The place is absolutely stunning, a complete all round package. The building is beautiful, the staff were amazing and so friendly, and the food was divine and really reasonably priced. I had never visited before today, but I will most definitely be back again.

Had a lovely afternoon. The sandwiches were lovely and fresh, the cakes were delicious and a nice variation, including scone with jam and cream. The cafè was kept cleared and clean. The location is lovely, surrounded by nice views. Naomi waited on us, service was great, checking regularly if we needed anything, topping up the drinks, very friendly. Can't fault anything, will be back for sure, and would highly recommend it. Thank you

Another beautiful stay at this wonderful spa. We stayed 2 nights in a comfy room which is the basic accommodation. Lovely room but ground floor and noise was an issue during the 2nd night. The food was fantastic and the spa was as good as usual. The noticeable improvement was the exceptional service from the dining room staff, they were superb, especially Anastasiia. Maia in the call centre who gave us lots of advice with regards to rooms for a future stay was fantastic, a real credit to the team. Thank you

I've been coming to the sump for many years. For lunch/dinner/bands/NYE/drinks/Christmas Works do's and I honestly couldn't fault this pub in any way with it being a local. Food is fast and delicious. All the bands are absolutely brilliant and the staff are all extremely pleasant and friendly. Seating on the terrace in the summer is exactly popular as it's such a beautiful spot by the river. Thank you for all the good times!!

We went here on the recommendation of a friend. The food was excellent when they remembered that we were there. On arriving, we informed the lady on the till (the landlady?) that we had arrived for our booking, and she told us where to sit and said she would send someone over. We waited for over 20 minutes and I had to go back and spoke with one of the waiters who apologised and said they didn't know we had arrived!! Needless to say, we are not likely to rush back, which is a shame as the food is very good.

Being back in Burton for another pub crawl we thought we would look this place up again for probably the last time as it is due to close at the end of October in an act of complete vandalism by Molson Coors, showing a total lack of respect for brewing history by planning to redevelop the site for offices. Have these people no morals or respect? Clearly not. As for the tap room and restaurant itself, it’s a fairly sterile corporate affair but at least the hanging pub signs in the restaurant section does try and give it a bit of character. And in my experience the bar staff serving behind the bar have always given the impression that they are suffering for their profession and would rather be somewhere else. Although cannot comment on the food as we have never eaten here and again were only here for the tap bar bit, but can certainly pass judgement on the ale and in that respect the beer was very good, but then you would expect it to be as it is the official tap bar for the Heritage Brewery, embedded in the National Brewery Centre next door, and they don’t have to travel very far. The Tap bar has six hand pumps and for our visit these were dispensing the Heritage Brewery Masterpiece IPA, Heritage Gold, Charrington IPA and Oatmeal Stout as well as Draught Bass and Elgood black dog on as a guest. I went for the Oatmeal Stout. It is not one of the best tap rooms I have ever visited, but it is probably one of the most famous, so I will be very sad to see it go, if this act of vandalism is allowed to proceed by the local council and the local MP. If it is then the very soul of Burton on Trent will go with it.

Very poor meal, Ham salad looked like someone put a bag of lettuce from the supermarket and a bit of very cheap ham. Bread roll inedible. When I mentioned to server, got a blank look and “do you want another roll” No I wanted a decent ham salad. Clearly no qualified chef or staff with any responsibility. Don’t bother eating here. Waste of money.

My wife and I visited the Red Carpet Cinema & Cafe Bar on 17/01/25 for a meal. We have been three times now and really enjoy the setting, styling and atmosphere of the place. On this occasion I had the halloumi burger and my wife had the chicken burger, both were nicely presented and very tasty, then we both had desserts which also very nice. The service was great and our waitress Ellie deserves a special mention, she was friendly, polite and attentive and an absolute difference maker. Highly recommended..
