I regularly stop here on my bike rides for a coffee but after being charged £5.50 for a coffee I will be stopping. I appreciate inflation and cost of living but that is absolute extortion!

I had booked here through bookings.com and turned up only to be told I didn't have a reservation, after an investigation by the the staff member that was dealing with my check in, it turns out bookings.com had changed the dates without me knowing meaning I had booked for the following weekend, not only did I get a full refund but the staff member went above and beyond to find me accomodation for the night making numerous phone calls to neighbouring hotels,

We visited last week & it was very busy & popular. We arrived at 12 noon, just in time to beat the lunchtime rush. The staff were efficient & pleasant & our food was delicious, reasonably priced & plentiful. Our one criticism is that there was only one person taking food & drink orders & he was rushed off his feet. This led to a large queue forming, which only puts stress on the one person manning the order till. There were plenty of staff on duty, so why not install another till & put an additional member of staff on duty to help out & to clear the queue faster? People really don't like queuing. If we'd have come in a few minutes later & seen the size of the queue, we would've left & gone elsewhere to spend our money. Please get this sorted as everything else is perfect.

Charlotte Plum was absolutely outstanding. She advised us on food, gave us recommendations and made us both feel really welcome. Our experience really was down to the fantastic service that Charlotte gave us. Her knowledge about the menu was excellent. A real outstanding team member. Thank you.

Dirty. There's no excuse for thick dust on a ledge behind the door or for the massive gap in the cracked bath panel. Nice staff, but the room had not been prepared, we saw the biscuits on the refreshing cart going to the room the next morning. Double bed comfy as were the two singles, but they were squeezed into a lower ceiling part, different heights. We were 3 full grown women, the YHA we'd stayed in previously was way better.

Being back in Burton for another pub crawl we thought we would look this place up again for probably the last time as it is due to close at the end of October in an act of complete vandalism by Molson Coors, showing a total lack of respect for brewing history by planning to redevelop the site for offices. Have these people no morals or respect? Clearly not. As for the tap room and restaurant itself, it’s a fairly sterile corporate affair but at least the hanging pub signs in the restaurant section does try and give it a bit of character. And in my experience the bar staff serving behind the bar have always given the impression that they are suffering for their profession and would rather be somewhere else. Although cannot comment on the food as we have never eaten here and again were only here for the tap bar bit, but can certainly pass judgement on the ale and in that respect the beer was very good, but then you would expect it to be as it is the official tap bar for the Heritage Brewery, embedded in the National Brewery Centre next door, and they don’t have to travel very far. The Tap bar has six hand pumps and for our visit these were dispensing the Heritage Brewery Masterpiece IPA, Heritage Gold, Charrington IPA and Oatmeal Stout as well as Draught Bass and Elgood black dog on as a guest. I went for the Oatmeal Stout. It is not one of the best tap rooms I have ever visited, but it is probably one of the most famous, so I will be very sad to see it go, if this act of vandalism is allowed to proceed by the local council and the local MP. If it is then the very soul of Burton on Trent will go with it.

Very poor meal, Ham salad looked like someone put a bag of lettuce from the supermarket and a bit of very cheap ham. Bread roll inedible. When I mentioned to server, got a blank look and “do you want another roll” No I wanted a decent ham salad. Clearly no qualified chef or staff with any responsibility. Don’t bother eating here. Waste of money.

We visited Willows (previously Tutbury Tearooms) for lunch. There was a good selection of meals, snacks and drinks on the menu, although there didn’t seem to be a children’s menu. The cafe was comfortable and nicely decorated. The food was nice, but very expensive. £9.75 for a jacket potato with cheese (plus £1.50 for each additional topping) is far too much!!! My son had two potato waffles with grated cheese and baked beans, which cost £9.99!!! We left feeling negative due to this and are unlikely to return.

Went a few months back for some drinks after going to the cinema. We all sat outside because it was lovely weather, much like the service! So many drinks to choose from, we struggled to make up our minds we wanted to try so much. I had a fruity cider, and it was really nice. Chap on the bar was lovely, saw some girls working making sure everywhere was clean and tidy so they definitely care about making sure the place is in good shape. Definitely would go again
