Much as I love this cinema venue - I must be one of their very best customers as I visit so frequently- I wish I could say the same about the cafe. We went for a meal before an evening showing. Cafe half empty but service very poor and slow. A burger was virtually cremated and served on a wooden platter which we hate as it's really unhygienic. My steak was stone cold. It went back and a (very tasty and tender) replacement arrived, albeit after the burger had been consumed and on a totally cold plate. Our film programme was about to start but we'd ordered desserts so we asked when the main feature was due to start. We were told straight away but that we could take our desserts into the cinema. I left mine behind as the blackberry and ginger Elton mess was seriously unpleasant- barely any blackberry and even less ginger and way too sugary. My OH took his sundae with him and we rushed in only to sit there for a good 15-20 minutes watching adverts and trailers. This is a very small venue - why were the cafe staff so ill informed? The show was great. The cinema seats are wonderfully comfy, lots of leg room, all in all a delightful experience, but there's always someone munching noisy popcorn or rustling sweets or chatting, despite the cinema's well meaning advice on screen before the film starts. Cinema tickets are expensive but I'll keep going back because it's a great experience. I won't be eating in the cafe any time soon.

The venue is lovely, the staff we met were pleasant enough. The film was enjoyable. Going to a lunch time showing, we wanted a light lunch. Sadly, the only food available for a vegan was dhal! Not everyone wants curry at midday. It seemed ridiculous to me that neither the vegan breakfast nor the vegan breakfast sandwich could be ordered! "Chef says they're not on the lunch menu" we were told after enquiring. This was 20 minutes after the breakfast menu had finished! Wouldn't have been a huge effort surely?! Additionally, none of the sandwiches that were listed on the lunch menu was vegan though there are vegetarian offerings. Given the huge numbers of people gravitating towards a plant based diet, it seems extremely short sighted of the person who created this menu to give so little thought to what's on offer for vegans. As we left the area, we noticed the cake stand on the counter, where there was a labelled vegan flapjack! No one had thought to point these out to us. Anyway, they were delicious and, though they didn't quite save the day, they did render an extra point for this review!

Very disappointing lunch, continually distracted by a dog barking regularly. No staff asked the 2 older ladies to control the animal which took a dislike to the neighbouring table's occupants. When I asked a staff member as I left why dogs are allowed she said 'we are dog friendly' - as I am - but it is not mentioned on their web site. Seems unfortunate - and another example of the ludicrous PC world we live in - that animals take precedence over the health and hygiene of humans. Should not be allowed in an eating establishment.

Had a voucher bought me for Xmas. I booked in today to watch Whitney Houston - I wanna dance with somebody. I have never watched a movie here at the Red Carpet so was a little concerned how things worked. Need I worry, not at all, the staff were very professional. I was booked in and given my ticket ordered a drink to take in with me and in I went. I sat in F7 which was half way down with an aisle seat and just off centre of the screen. I booked the seat online, so it was my choice. Seats were very comfortable and the sound and vision was unbelievable. All in all I had a good afternoon out. Priced good with an option of a meal too. Definitely will be back.

We had booked the cinema but not food. They managed to fit us in. I do not have a great appetite but they were accommodating and let me order a starter to arrive at the same time as my friends main. They also offered to let me order of the child's menu which was a nice touch. The chef cooked for us even though he was on a break. Nice small cinema (We were in the small one) Nice to be able to take your drink in a proper glass in with you. Good experience even if our film choice was a bit odd! ( the banshees of inisherin)

I visited yesterday for the third time. The cinema is ok although as it’s not monitored and no staff around other cinema goers can be extremely noisy, last night there were 3 men who were guffawing extremely loudly which quite spoiled my enjoyment of the film. However my real gripe was with the café bar. I tried this two weeks ago and the food was nice and reasonably priced at £14.95 for a cinema ticket (£8.95) plus one course lunch (£6.00). Yesterday I was charged £14.95 for a one course lunch - exactly the same meal I had two weeks ago! I absolutely was ripped off yesterday. When I queried the charge the “manageress” was rude and basically shrugged her shoulders pointing out that the printed menu said “from…” which was a great cop out. I won’t be visiting again I ended up paying £27.30 for the same meal I purchased for £14.95 two weeks ago. I feel aggrieved having tried to support a small business whenever I could. The food was overcooked as well, and was a tiny portion. Worth £6 but not £14.95. I have recommended this place to several friends recently but will be sure to advise them to go elsewhere now!

Service was attentive but not pressured

We always enjoy the independent and more intimate cinema experience... although not as luxurious as their big competitors..The food can be a bit hit and miss...but our real gripe is (or is it just us?) is the dining tables.....they were so thick and sticky with grease and god knows what bacteria that even the plates would not slide. This was not one isolated table..After complaining our table was wiped but made absolutely no difference to the ''years?'' of built-up grease on the surface and in all the cracks in the wood grain...They could do with scraping and degreasing and then disinfecting.

Visited cafe/bar for a light lunch after film. Two pots of tea...no problem. Jacket potatoes-SOLD OUT (there is a vegetable shop a few hundred yards away!) Pesto Pannini-SOLD OUT! So we opted for 2 x crumpets each. What could possibly go wrong with toasted crumpets? Well it seems the member of staff in the kitchen does not know how to use a grill or a toaster! The crumpets were warm, limp and NOT toasted. Absolutely disgusting...£5.98 for two of us! Mentioned it to the lady on the till when we paid. The usual, 'I'm sorry about that, I will tell him'....no offer of a refund. I appreciate that these places do not employ chefs and most of the ready meals only require the ability to use a microwave, but for goodness sake, how can a member of staff be incapable of toasting crumpets? Next time we visit the cinema, we will take our own food and drinks.

Food was average to say the least served only Luke warm ,salmon overcooked , mushy peas inedible, side salad arrived just as we’d finished the main course .The creme brûlée was tasty but of a custard consistency.Seemed that it’s a very young team in need of some leadership , don’t think we’ll be rushing back in a hurry ,shame it’s a nice concept .

We visited for lunch on a weekday. Initially the waiting staff were all over us, but we wanted time to chat before ordering, and then it was really hard to get anyone’s attention! Soup arrived but we had to ask for the advertised roll, which was then delivered without any butter! My baked potato was massive and delicious, but thereafter we were ignored by staff. Eventually I had to walk to the counter to request the bill. The restaurant was not remotely busy but we were seated at the far end, away from waiting-on staff’s eyes. I was embarrassed as I had recommended this to my guest and it was so disappointing.

Very poor meal, Ham salad looked like someone put a bag of lettuce from the supermarket and a bit of very cheap ham. Bread roll inedible. When I mentioned to server, got a blank look and “do you want another roll” No I wanted a decent ham salad. Clearly no qualified chef or staff with any responsibility. Don’t bother eating here. Waste of money.

We visited Willows (previously Tutbury Tearooms) for lunch. There was a good selection of meals, snacks and drinks on the menu, although there didn’t seem to be a children’s menu. The cafe was comfortable and nicely decorated. The food was nice, but very expensive. £9.75 for a jacket potato with cheese (plus £1.50 for each additional topping) is far too much!!! My son had two potato waffles with grated cheese and baked beans, which cost £9.99!!! We left feeling negative due to this and are unlikely to return.

Being back in Burton for another pub crawl we thought we would look this place up again for probably the last time as it is due to close at the end of October in an act of complete vandalism by Molson Coors, showing a total lack of respect for brewing history by planning to redevelop the site for offices. Have these people no morals or respect? Clearly not. As for the tap room and restaurant itself, it’s a fairly sterile corporate affair but at least the hanging pub signs in the restaurant section does try and give it a bit of character. And in my experience the bar staff serving behind the bar have always given the impression that they are suffering for their profession and would rather be somewhere else. Although cannot comment on the food as we have never eaten here and again were only here for the tap bar bit, but can certainly pass judgement on the ale and in that respect the beer was very good, but then you would expect it to be as it is the official tap bar for the Heritage Brewery, embedded in the National Brewery Centre next door, and they don’t have to travel very far. The Tap bar has six hand pumps and for our visit these were dispensing the Heritage Brewery Masterpiece IPA, Heritage Gold, Charrington IPA and Oatmeal Stout as well as Draught Bass and Elgood black dog on as a guest. I went for the Oatmeal Stout. It is not one of the best tap rooms I have ever visited, but it is probably one of the most famous, so I will be very sad to see it go, if this act of vandalism is allowed to proceed by the local council and the local MP. If it is then the very soul of Burton on Trent will go with it.
