Absolutely lovely time spent with family in this lovely place, food was superb and delivered with experience staff. Comfortable sitting and no pressure to start your meal, relaxing afternoon handled by a great team. Well done all.

Can't believe we were too busy chatting and forgot photos of our wonderful meals.. though local ish.. we're around a 15 to 20 min drive so not super regular but have visited many times for just drinks, eaten here at lunch usually maybe 4 times and only once before at evening all of which have been fabulous to be honest. But our last evening meal here being a while ago, we were bringing friends staying for the weekend so hoped it was as good as we'd had previously. Well, Totally exceeded all expectations. every meal was generously portioned, properly hot, exceptional quality and cooked to perfection. What may on paper seem to be similar to meals served in many pub such as steak & Ale.Pie a black & blue burger a beef Rib, and Lambs Liver, were all among the best we've ever tasted anywhere, these were not standard by any means. the quality cooking with such depth of flavour, perfection of luxurious rich sauces and the accompanying sides of Vegetables & potatoes etc again hot, generous and perfectly cooked, everything was outstanding and all of us were delighted. We will definitely be back soon including our friends when next visiting. My one dissapointment was looking forward to a lovely coffee to find none as the machine had been cleaned and switched off. It was only 9.30 which admittedly is past food time but assuming many people end there courses with an after dinner coffee I'd have hoped coffee could be served a little beyond 9.30pm but that may have just been a one off, and will not detract from the fabulous meals great service and friendly welcoming staff. Food is always excellent here. We eat here every couple of weeks as a rule , just wonderful. Chef is amazing. Choice is wide. Not many places open on Mondays these days but we’d just got back from Goodwood show and had fabulous meal at 2.30pm , fillet steak was mouth watering, and pie had a lovely thyme cream sauce. Ash is very attentive to his customers as is Chris who serves , she’s always cheerful. 5 🌟

Great place to drink and eat, nice environment to stay. Dinner was really worth it, tasty and fresh! And the desserts...yum yum. And on Sunday, life music.

What a fabulous country pub find! Glorious weather and a wonderful place to eat fabulous food....expertly cooked and served, what a great team.... Christine, Reggie and everyone saw to it that nothing was too much trouble from biscuits from Hendrix our doggy to birthday cocktails and pudding, thank you for a perfect birthday lunch!

Went out randomly for a meal Saturday night, couldn't of asked for a better meal, food 👌, service first class and atmosphere lovely.

An excellent meal as always, my husband especially enjoyed his pan fried sea bass with chilli and parsley butter, a special on that day. My battered fish was excellent quality, really fresh fish, the batter really light! As for the peach Melba, wow! 10/10 all round, terrific service too.

Had a couple of afternoons / nights here while away on a course, really enjoyed it, lovely pub, friendly, enjoyed the free chips with my pint sat in the garden. Didn't have a meal, but food look great

As soon as I saw the food come out I knew it was going to be good! This may sound silly, but I could tell by the gravy, a chef that takes his time to make the main element of a Sunday dinner wins it for me! The food was outstanding, restaurant quality food at pub prices!

We had heard good reports and were not disappointed. Friendly service on arrival followed by amazing food (starve yourself beforehand, they're sizeable portions!) which was presented beautifully and steaming hot. Perfect. We will return.

Fantatsic service always with a smile. Food was amazing. From the sea bass to the rare steak perfectly cooked. The 6 of us couldn't have been happier after our day at the races.

Quality food, well priced, excellent service

We popped in with no booking on a busy Sunday and were able to find us a table. The menu was limited, but the roast dinners were awesome.

What can I say popped in today for the 1st time with my wife for lunch. The two ladies who were on today were fantastic so friendly and perlite the food was excellent will definitely return thankyou.

Sunday Roast diiner was fantastic. Between us we ordered 1x Lamb, 2 x Turkey and 1 x Sirlion pink beef. On the plate came a few generous slices of meat, real roast potatoes, gravy and a large yorky. The shared veg was carrot & swede mash, squeeky beans, red cabbage, broccoli , leeks in cream sauce and new potatoes. Everything was absolutely gorgeous. The pub was full of diners and drinkers and the atmos was lively and buzzing. I real treat. We were so impressed that are booking for the Mixed grill night on Monday. Well done team !!

This place never fails to satisfy. The food is fantastic quality and price, atmosphere is always warm and welcoming and Christine and Dawn are always so accommodating.

Wow, what a fabulous pub. Went there for a lunch with my best friend, the mushrooms were lovely as a starter, but the Stilton and Beef pie with home made chips was unbelievably good. Great service and excellent value for money, thank you.

We had an excellent lunch the food was delicious and very well presented. The staff were really helpful and friendly. This was our third visit and it won’t be our last. I highly recommend it.

The best Sunday Roast we have ever had

I visited the pub and have steak and stilton pie ,veg and chunky chips. Me and a friend martyn fessey decided to visit .The food was excellent .pie was probably the best ever. The veg was cooked perfect and the chips were also cooked perfect . I couldnt find fault with the meal 11 out of 10. The service was excellent also. I live local and this is the best pub for food anywhere in the area for miles. Forget other locals The swan , ( pub further down road on opposite side to the swan, cant remember the name.). The forresters The boars head , ,barton under needwood pubs , abbotts bromley pubs , burton on trent. Ive had food in all of these places and more. This is the best no contest .

What a gem of a place to eat and drink. A beautiful little village pub with the most friendly staff. Food was delicious and the services was outstanding. Dog friendly too, and our dog was fussed over. Highly recommend a visit if you are passing through or even for a drive out to.

Another awesome meal with Ash and his crew, had delish calamari n the most beautiful cod in chorizo crust n linguini sauce... oh to die for! N ash the perfect host, atmosphere spot on, a lovely evening out with great friends who also appreciate great food n had the same as us! Highly recommend n u need to book to guarantee ur spot! Found this amazing restaurant everything was 5 star and the food was amazing would certainly recommend this to anyone looking for good food, it is always nice to find new places to eat and loved the fireplace with a lovely fire, we will certainly be going back. The staff where amazing

Possibly the best Sunday lunch I’ve ever had in a British pub. From start to finish the staff were friendly and attentive. The pub itself is warm and inviting and buzzing with a mix of those enjoying a drink and diners. The food was simply outstanding, the lamb was perfectly cooked and plentiful and the veg was fresh and beautifully cooked and presented. It was bread and butter pudding for ‘afters’ which was quite simply divine. This was my second visit and definitely will not be the last, the first time I went I had the monstrous mixed grill which was so amazing it would need its very own review. A wonderful visit and a beautiful meal, thank you.

First visit and def not our last. Basically how a pub should be. Not sport in any way. Lovely atmosphere lovely staff and above everything else lovely food. Even though busy not a particularly long wait. Appreciate a Saturday night so other nights may not have the same atmosphere but I will be trying another night soon.

What a fabulous little country pub! Came for lunch and was not disappointed. Staff were friendly and accommodating and food delivery was quick. My fish and chips were lovely and fresh and the portion was very, very generous. Prosecco batter was beautifully crisp and fish was perfectly cook. Hubby's chicken stack was plentiful and the side of veggies with herby butter just right. Best value for money I have seen in a while. Oh.....and the NZ Savinguon Blanc and Timothy Taylor rounded things off nicely 👍👍👍

Delightful dining experience was recommended by friends, and we were not disappointed. The Carpark is a bit small,I don't think there would be anywhere to park on busy days and evenings , so we'd probably stick to lunchtimes. It's definitely worth a visit, though.

Whether it’s Sunday lunch, Monday grill night or main menu on a Saturday, the team deliver time and time again! What a gem of a country pub. I never take time to write reviews but the consistency and quality of every meal keeps us going back time and time again! Especially for music Sundays. Huge credit to Ashley and Team D&P for creating such a rarity. Waist line friendly portions not served here

I don't know how I have managed to not visit before. This was the best pub meal I have had locally for as long as I can recall. A lovely proper village pub with low ceilings, a warm fire, and great service. I can't recommend it highly enough.

What a wonderful pub, we were looking for somewhere to eat on our way home from Chester. We were not disappointed, the customer service from Harry and the food was excellent. Best steak and ale pie I have ever had and an amazing bakewell. tart. We will definitely be coming back.

From walking in to walking out, we had absolutely no bad words about our visit. The staff were wonderful, the atmosphere lovely and calming and the food just A1+. For the 3 of us, there were plenty of veg, an amazing amount of succulent meat and the gravy.....😋just the best I've had in a very long time! Well done to all involved in todays service.

Good food, plenty of it, a proper pub meal at a good price. The best pub meal we've had in ages, will definitely be going again.

The food was beautifully presented and tasty. Portions were generous and great value (we had the lunch menu). Booking was easy online and they were flexible in moving our booking slightly later on the day too which was most helpful. We felt very welcomed by staff when seated and they checked we were happy in a personal, warm and approachable manner at appropriate points. This visit really added to our day- thank you!!

I came here with friends/family for a little treat. We decided to have a cream tea/afternoon tea. Whilst we were waiting for the rest of our family to come we ordered some drinks, my gin and lemonade was lovely. Then out came our afternoon tea which was beautifully served on a mini wooden tables. There were 7 of us so we ordered 3 of them and it was more than enough. All the sandwiches and cakes were amazing and super tasty! The atmosphere of the pub was nice and relaxed which was exactly what we wanted. Staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough for us, I would definitely recommend this pub if you want something special in the countryside. I will definitely be back and I urge anyone reading this to take a visit!

We were recommended to try the D&P by friends. Went for lunch and we were very impressed. Friendly staff lovely home cooked food and real value for money. Will definitely go again. If you haven't been yet would suggest you give it a try. If you've already been well done you.

Went 12th Aug for lunch.We had a lovely welcome and staff were chatty.We both had the Fish ,chips and mushy peas .Fish was a fantastic size,just the right amount of chips and both the peas and tartar were home made.To top it off they sell Timothy Taylor Landlord......very happy 😊 Thank you to all concerned for a lovely lunch

Just stopped in for a drink after a day out, we'd seen it earlier as we passed. Looked beautiful! Very friendly and welcoming, gorgeous little beer garden, we didn't eat, but there were plenty that were, so obviously a very popular place.

I highly recommend the D&P. We visited a couple of days ago and had a fantastic meal, very reasonably priced for the quality of food and the service was faultless. The pub was busy and has a great atmosphere, the staff were very welcoming. I would recommend booking in advance as it’s appears to be very popular now under new management. Looking forward to our next visit.

I looked at the menu, saw there was nothing as such I could eat as I have dairy and egg intolerance (ie vegan), mentioned it to the waitress,who went to the chef, who offered us a Thai curry!! Fabulous plate of food arrived, curry sauce made from scratch, nearly couldn't eat all of it but managed 🤣 Definitely recommend

What a gem the people and the food. I had mushroom soup devine. Bill had beef sandwich it was for someone who had a good appetite but he said it was beautiful.

We are so lucky to have Ashley as landlord of our much loved village pub. The menu is extensive, food is faultless, and excellent value for money. Daytime offers a budget lunch menu, afternoon tea (need to book) or just pop in for an afternoon coffee and homemade cake. 😋 😋 Even the background music is good! The service, ambience, (including candle lit tables), excellent ales, top notch friendly service and attention to detail sets the benchmark for what a country pub should be.

Fantastic friendly and hospitable staff, superb pub. I only knocked off 1 star because the piped music which was played in all of the bars was just a tad too loud which made having a decent conversation during the meal a bit challenging.

Had a lovely few hours at D&P yesterday afternoon. 12 of us went for lunch before Uttoxeter races. The staff were amazing and very accommodating. The food was very good and great value. The group had a mix of sandwiches, fish and chips and pies, all very good. It's nice to see a traditional pub bustling with punters and we felt very welcome. First time going here and now it'll be our go to ore races lunch spot. Thank you.
