Went a few months back for some drinks after going to the cinema. We all sat outside because it was lovely weather, much like the service! So many drinks to choose from, we struggled to make up our minds we wanted to try so much. I had a fruity cider, and it was really nice. Chap on the bar was lovely, saw some girls working making sure everywhere was clean and tidy so they definitely care about making sure the place is in good shape. Definitely would go again

As part of a family group we’ve visited the Brewery Tap Sunday Carvery for the last few weeks. It is always superb, with beautifully cooked joints of meat and a ‘special of the day’ plus an array of vegetables which are all cooked to perfection ( some in their own sauces). The staff are all friendly and helpful and the whole meal is excellent value.

This was a first time visit for a mid week lunch. My overall impression was that it’s okay/ nice but nothing spectacular 2 lunch meals and 2 Diet Coke £21.45. The food was hot and tasty although the triple chicken melt could have done with some mayo or sauce as was a bit dry The bar was clean and quiet stylish but quite and the ladies toilets were fine I’m don’t think I’ll be in any hurry to return, I’ll be trying other places

Went for a family birthday meal and was not impressed. The service was terrible. Our drinks didn't arrive until after the starters. They got the order wrong for the starters so one person had to wait. The bread roll with the pate was way past its best and crumbled into bits. The carvery was edible but not the best. Dessert was not very good either. The worst thing was the staff. They were rude and had no table service skills at all. They just seemed to wander round following each other. No one seemed to have a clue what was going on.Very disappointed and would not be in a hurry to eat here again, which is very sad as the place has so much heritage.

I have visited The Brewery Tap dozens of times over the past years, but I feel my latest will be my last. Gone are the days of exciting, well served beers that celebrated Burton's brewing history (as per the museum which is attached to this place). Replaced by microbrews (which admittedly are usually local) that are usually average at best, I had two pints on Saturday and both were flat and pretty tasteless. My rounds were also expensive and served by a woman who obviously hated her job. My visit was peak time on Saturday evening, and I would describe the bar as very quiet. I did hear two separate people ask if they served Bass (as per most of the memorabilia on the walls), the answer to which was no. This place needs to start offering what people want!

I would like to start by saying that the waitress was lovely. The food was good., It just took so long to come out it was a joke. The table next to us was there for a family occasion and they left before thier mains came out it was so slow, and there was only three tables in. I'd do the brewery tour and then go somewhere else for dinner. A discrace of a manager was not apologetic at all. Avoid if you want a nice dinner.

Always a large selection if draught beers to sample and drink. Make sure you have a none drinking driver so you can indulge in tasting them all. This is the place where you will not ever get a cloudy rough glass if beer, not like some pubs where they try and sell you the dregs. Little bar menu for snacks, also restaurant. Plus is course take a tour if the brewery museum to see the history of Burton in Trent Brewers.

I had booked a table for the carvery and we got a drink in the bar as we were early and set up a tab. When we went into the restaurant this appeared to be a problem and they gave us the wrong table number. The carvery was fine, the meat was nice and a good choice of accompaniements. Unfortunately do to the way the area is set out with a queue of people waiting for the carvery by the side of our table it was not pleasant enjoy the meal. The counters needed to be on another wall making more room to move around. We were then given the wrong bill and it was hassle and waiting to get it sorted out. It was busy but the staff did not seem particularly organised other than the chap behind the bar. Doubt if I would return. The toilets were not particularly clean either.

This restaurant is at the end of the Brewery Museum tour, but can also be visited without having to go through the museum. We really enjoyed our sample beers, especially the Offilers which brought back happy memories. We also had lunch which was superbly cooked. The staff were all friendly, helpful and efficient. We may well visit here again without bothering with the Museum tour.

Disappointed that given the strategic location of The Brewery Tap as a part of the museum site, we expected something much more.Environment is synthetic and lacking atmosphere. We may have chosen a bad day that was not typical, but barmaid was struggling, seemed to lack organisation, no change in till, one customer returned his beer as off!Doubt whether we will return.

We visited the Brewery Tap at the end of our tour around the brewery. As it was lunchtime we decided to have a cheese and ham sandwich with our beers. The bloomer loaf sandwich came with a small side salad and some potato crisps. It was generously filled and delicious. It rounded off a very pleasant visit to the area for us.

Started off bad as the service behind the bar in main room ( older lady) was bad very bad on her own obviously she was pushing herself poor management as the comedy nights are every month!! In the Worthington room still only one barmaid who had to work like mad to serve approx 80 people. The host Ben Mulholland fantastic the others ok but the last guy a Canadian (can't remember is name) was fantastic everybody was laughing he was well worth the £10 himself hope they have him again.

We went to Burton to visit the amazing Brewery museum, and booked to eat in the restaurant before our afternoon tour.We arrived on time, and the server took our drinks order. After 25 minutes, we had to find a staff member to ask where our drinks were. Unfortunately, our order was made at the same time as the morning tour arrived for their inclusive drinks, and they crowded the bar. One would not expect this to be an issue as they would have been aware of the time of the end of the tour. When our drinks arrived, we ordered food, and then waited a lot longer than one would expect, as we were just one of two occupied tables.Food arrived, and we asked where the bread that accompanied it was, the server apologised and went off, returning with it, but then we had to request butter. The food was very good indeed. It was only the service that let them down, and the poor memory of the server. It is only fair to state that the end of the morning museum tour coincided with our arrival, and they crowded the bar as we ordered our drinks, and at the same time, the staff were preparing for a wedding reception... Two things that delayed our service. However, neither of these things would have been unexpected, and as such, in normal circumstances, such routine events should not have impacted on our otherwise excellent experience in such a negative way.

Having brought a voucher for the visit to the Centre me and husband decided to head down on a rainy Sunday. The museum was great and learnt a lot about brewing and the guys who Volunteer on the steam engines where great! Unfortunatly that is where our good experience ended. As soon as we went into the bar area it was a joke! The bar dosnt sit with the whole theme and looks rather to modern and if I'm honest a little tacky... But what was the worst was that it took over 40mins to get served at the bar! What a joke. Needless to say I will not be going back not recommending this place.

Running out of time, but will simply say that they need to sort out the Chef in this pub. Was unable to provide anything other than the sandwich menu because the Chef was late. This seems a usual occurrence at this pub.In addition. The barman/manager seemed confused when asked for a 'light ale recommendation'; he obviously doesn't know much about beer. Finally the ambiance is poor. Though the walls have appropriate paraphernalia the 90s dance music was a little out of place. And by a little, I mean totally inappropriate. It was also almost uncomfortably cold.I truly hope they fix the problems here as it is a disgrace to the good work done next door at the Museum.

Wet day out in Burton, went to the National Brewery Centre then into the brewery tap,(on the same ground). Beer selection was excellent and well kept. The menu was medium sized and quite varied for us meaty/fishy folk, limited for veggies though, (who cares?!). Three of us shared a platter for 2 to share as a starter and was impressed with all of the items; ribs, potted salt beef, beer batter prawns, dips and awesome FAT chips! Mains were impressive fayre too, ma had the brunch which included local(ish) sausage and bacon, field mushroom and a huge roasted beef tomato among other things. Dad went for bangers and mash, again local sausage and creamy mash, although not really complaining but menu stated champ mash, all doused in a rich onion gravy. I went for the steak and White Shield ale pie with Kibbled(?) potatoes and ale gravy, absolutely delicious, rich pie filling with massive chunks of meat, crisp yet soft pastry, a miniature pint glass of ale gravy and it came with chips, again, not really complaining but it said served with Kibbled potatoes. The chips, i have to say, are some of the best I've had so no way were they going back!! Very generous vegetable accompaniments, well presented and piping hot. The chef needs to pay a little more attention to his/her menu items but it was a very good eating experience.

I visited here after a trip to the National Brewery Centre. Although I am not an ale drinker I had a pint of local brew and it was very nice. There were two different menus to choose from, the bar menu which contained a selection of sandwiches and other light bites. Also a main menu which contained dishes like ham, egg and chips, burgers etc. the food was really nice and tasted home cooked. The only complaints i have is that a chicken and bacon sandwich served with salad and 'homemade potato chips" actually looked and tasted like they were the dregs from the bottom of the deep fat dryer. Literally small little burnt bits! And the sandwich only had one slice of bacon on yet called itself a 'club sandwich'. At £6 I believe it was a bit expensive and if I wanted to add chips it would be £2.50, making my sandwich rather expensive indeed. If I went again I would choose a meal off the main menu as that seems better value. Overall I really enjoyed my visit. The decor, atmosphere and surroundings were lovely and the staff informative.

If you like beer and you are visiting Burton, the home of beer, you must go to the brewery tap! I went early one evening. I'm glad I did, it wasn't bad but it was not exciting. Beer included draught Worthington White Shield - a must for any beer connisseur - and in my view better than the bottled version. I tried a guest beer - it was off - this happens and the staff were happy to replace it. My fish and chip meal was ok - batter overdone and plate so hot it carried on cooking in front of me. My average review is really because the place lacked atmosphere and the Brewery Tap at the National Brewing Centre should be a compelling advertisement for the Britsh pub and the brewing industry - this was not.

This is not our first visit to this restaurant but probably our third. on Two occassions we encountered the same experience. our most frequent visit (Party of 9,12th April 13) was due to someone telling us how nice it was for Sunday lunch but as we couldn't get for Sunday Lunch we booked for a Friday evening, on our arrival we went to the bar & made our presence known & ordered some drinks. We were escorted to our table in the restaurant (which had 1 more table of two occupied) & sat down, we all started to chat before looking at the menu but were greeted within seconds of being seated by the waitress who said,"who's having starters" We replied with we haven't even looked at the menu yet so can you give us a bit more time please......... she left & went away only to return again 2 mins later !!.We all placed our orders & checked she had the correct quantity on order (she had) when the starters arrived we had one short even though we had checked she had noted all the items down (clearly the Chefs fault). we then went on to our mains before the table was properly clear of starter dishes (on the whole startters were ok but non of the steaks we ordered were cooked to specification), but never the less we ate & completed. within what seemed like seconds of finishing the waitress appeared & cleared the table ready for our sweets........... the rush seemed to have eased & the waitress looked less flustered & in due course took our orders for deserts. When the deserts arrived they were lacking in sauce that was clearly stated would come with it on the menu. It appeared the waitress was now making the deserts as I can only assume the chef had gone home & left her to it, in no way do we any of this was the waitresses fault but feel this establishment is being dictated to by a chef who needs to get home rather than serve clients. If he doesn't want to be at this establishment then get another jobOn our first experience we were told we must order quickly as the Chef lived in Derby & needed to get away. quite clearly on this subsequent visit the chef needed to get home again............ We will not frequent this establishment again as I feel we have given them fair chance.

The Brewery Tap serves a brilliant roast at the carvery; all the staff are friendly, helpful and smiling and the portions are huge if you want them to be. I can't fault the food or the service at all. The cheese board was literally on a huge wooden board and they don't stint you on the crackers either, as some restaurants do. The added touch of a pot of primroses on the table on Mother's Day for the mum to take home was lovely.

Very poor meal, Ham salad looked like someone put a bag of lettuce from the supermarket and a bit of very cheap ham. Bread roll inedible. When I mentioned to server, got a blank look and “do you want another roll” No I wanted a decent ham salad. Clearly no qualified chef or staff with any responsibility. Don’t bother eating here. Waste of money.

We visited Willows (previously Tutbury Tearooms) for lunch. There was a good selection of meals, snacks and drinks on the menu, although there didn’t seem to be a children’s menu. The cafe was comfortable and nicely decorated. The food was nice, but very expensive. £9.75 for a jacket potato with cheese (plus £1.50 for each additional topping) is far too much!!! My son had two potato waffles with grated cheese and baked beans, which cost £9.99!!! We left feeling negative due to this and are unlikely to return.

Being back in Burton for another pub crawl we thought we would look this place up again for probably the last time as it is due to close at the end of October in an act of complete vandalism by Molson Coors, showing a total lack of respect for brewing history by planning to redevelop the site for offices. Have these people no morals or respect? Clearly not. As for the tap room and restaurant itself, it’s a fairly sterile corporate affair but at least the hanging pub signs in the restaurant section does try and give it a bit of character. And in my experience the bar staff serving behind the bar have always given the impression that they are suffering for their profession and would rather be somewhere else. Although cannot comment on the food as we have never eaten here and again were only here for the tap bar bit, but can certainly pass judgement on the ale and in that respect the beer was very good, but then you would expect it to be as it is the official tap bar for the Heritage Brewery, embedded in the National Brewery Centre next door, and they don’t have to travel very far. The Tap bar has six hand pumps and for our visit these were dispensing the Heritage Brewery Masterpiece IPA, Heritage Gold, Charrington IPA and Oatmeal Stout as well as Draught Bass and Elgood black dog on as a guest. I went for the Oatmeal Stout. It is not one of the best tap rooms I have ever visited, but it is probably one of the most famous, so I will be very sad to see it go, if this act of vandalism is allowed to proceed by the local council and the local MP. If it is then the very soul of Burton on Trent will go with it.
