The best pub in Britain. With the best ales (Hopback) and the best bartenders, and the best patrons.

Absolutely fantastic pub and I do mean pub! There is a pool table, dart board, quiz nights, games of spoof at the bar, everything that has been lost from most other pubs in the country. The food served is simple pub grub, done well and pretty cheap. The Landlord is very welcoming and if you have any interest in vehicles, local history or wartime you will struggle to leave!

Appears to be closed. All windows and doors boarded over when we went by. Large "For Sale" sign hanging on front.

Sadly we didn't get to enjoy a coffee or cake. Before we ordered I asked to use the bathroom but they didn't have one on offer. The assistant serving most helpfully suggested I use the one in the car park!! I'm sure I can't be the only customer who'd want to use the facilities including washing your hands before having a coffee or lunch. But forewarned is fore armed I guess. We did find another lovely cafe in the town which was fully equipped with all mod cons.

Whenever I come into to use this cafe I am questioned about why I am using the cafe and whenever I use the loo I am constantly reminded by the member of staff on duty to flush the loo which I always do which has made me decide because of their poor unwelcoming attitude toward that I will not use this cafe anymore when I visit Salisbury

Our group of 4 cycling the King Alfreds Way stopped off here for refreshments rather than at a pub. One of our party asked to recharge his battery (which was OK) and once the owner realised we were cyclists suggested we wheel our bikes through to the garden for security - very thoughtful. Friendly staff, a very large pot of tea and great cakes. Can dine in or out and kids' toys in both areas. Homely and easy going. Check opening times, though! Definitely value for money.

We booked for a family of four adults and making the most of the good weather we sat outside. We all had burgers, 3 beef and I had the Korean chicken which was very tasty. We also had a couple of starters, I had salt and pepper squid, a special on the day, which was very nice. Service was friendly and not overbearing. The main thing for us is gluten free and that was not an issue at all, in fact most men items seemed to be GF and a number of others were GFO. We ended up going inside as it git a bit windy but a very enjoyable a pond chilled afternoon with the music adding to the ambience. As a footnote we went back the next day as they had live music who were really good. The local was busy which was good to see.

Awful food at extortionate prices. 21st birthday party spoilt. 1. By a stroppy young waitress who couldn't force a smile if she tried. Rude and snappy. 2.Fish goujons, over cooked, herbs burnt causing a taint, was there fish in there? 3. Batter on Haddock over cooked. Meal was described as a tiddler on a plate with 12 fries by diner. 4. Several of our party went for pulled pork burgers. Buns were soggy and disintegrated in front of you. Not sure if it was a BBQ sauce? Tepid in temperature and a great meal. 5.Drinks very expensive. £35- 38. For a bottle of Cote du RhÓne. Retails at £11 . That's a mark up? Night partially saved by a lovely older lady waitressing due to the other girl leaving. 6. Small milk jug of cream with dessert charged at nearly £3. Overall,£400 wasted. 7. Awful background music all night, not appropriate. Ruined her family party.

Visited on a recommendation and found a quaint place for good food and a drink. The pub and adjacent cafe at the rear are spot less, well presented and provide a cosy atmosphere. The welcoming staff and owners were outstandingly friendly. The food is brunch and cafe style, at fair price for the excellent taste, preparation and presentation. There is car parking and outside seating with an area laid to well tended lawn. Dog friendly in a quite village location, a short distance from the now famous Lyneham banks main road and great western rail route. Well worth a visit, will be returning often.
