Popped in here as staying on canal. Bar guys very welcoming. Couldn’t find any real ale, but the lagers were good. Good place to play pub games and even some dominoes in progress. No food on offer, but offered us takeaway menus and we ended up having pizza delivered which we ate in the pub.

It seemed an average sort of pub, but the management seems to be working to improve the situation.

Perfect for a game of darts and pool. Massive venue. Should be busier but locals don’t understand what losing a pub means.

This is a good old fashioned watering hole with no frills attached. It is under new management and the new management are trying really hard by bringing in an ecclectic mix of takeaway food trucks for their customers. They're putting on themed nights too. Big up to a once struggling pub to try and revive some community again!

Nice friendly staff, but a pub with no beer ! Although they appear to be supporters of Camra, there was no draught bitter on sale, only bottled. I ordered a Newcastle Brown, but sadly, the barman poured it very carefully into a pint glass. The correct method is to give the customer the bottle with a half pint glass, so they can top it up regularly to keep a creamy head. No food on offer, but staff would assist in ordering take aways delivered to the pub. I hope things will improve here, as the staff and locals deserve a much better level of expectation.

Good pub lovely Guinness landlord and Lady friendly and welcoming. Doing a great job since taking over. One less star as the benches outside could do with being replaced. Food trucks pop ups great too

Popped in for a refreshing drink after a hot walk along the canal. Only 2 minutes from the towpath. The landlady is lovely and welcoming. A good range of drinks and gave us a free game of pool, cheers.

A pub with some old world charm. It has a lot of potential given its location by the canal. It has a temporary manager, while the brewery looks for a permanent tenant. it currently does not do food (04/07/22) as the kitchen is going to be refurbed.

The hostess was so kind and welcoming. They don’t serve food at the moment due to renovations but they gave us flyers to order food so we could stay at the pub. Nice pub and a nice pooltable.

I belong to a local lunch club and we tend to move about from month to month. This pub came recommended so we decided to give it a try. It's right in the Trowbridge town centre next to the Shires shopping centre, and is a traditional old fashioned pub with no trimmings. What we did notice was how quickly it filled, always a good sign. We had an old standby, meat pie and chips with a proper pie, not a bit of stew with a square of pastry dumped on top. The food was well cooked and delicious and not overpriced. We have decided to make it our monthly venue for the foreseeable future.

We came here for a colleagues leaving do having been recommended by another workmate. I'm am beginning to wonder whether this workmates actually likes us now as the food was inedible! I ordered belly pork and was I was given was a lump of fat with no more than a matchbox sized piece of meat attached. The mustard mash tasted as if it had been sat waiting for days and then microwaved. I can't complain about everything as the broccoli was well cooked but this was all I could eat. It's a shame as I couldn't complain to staff as I didn't want to make a fuss I front of the group. Might I add, the staff were rude and abrupt also!

Wow, what a terrible experience, which ruined a 40th birthday dinner. What should have been a wonderful “feasting” menu with ample food to share, was in fact more like a famine. We were a table of 14 (11 adults, 3, children) and due to the party size, we had to choose their “feasting menu”- food pre-ordered and 50% paid some weeks in advance. So, they had plenty of time to prepare for our table. We had 2 plates of meat for 11 adults- these weren’t sharing plates, piled high. These were normal dining plates with a level amount of meat. Chicken was wonderful, however beef had lots of fat and gristle. HALF the table had what only can be described as a childs portion of meat and one member had no meat at all. I was sure more would arrive- surely 2 plates of meat for 11 adults is not suffice. But no, that’s all we got. When we told the waitress one member had no meat at all, she brought back a couple of slices of beef and said the Chef advised there was no more. Same with the potatoes- two bowls, one roast and one dauphinoise, some members getting little to none. We asked again- the chef advised none left, but we could have some boiled potatoes. Wow. The roasts were dry and hard, my knife struggled to get through them, they tasted 3 days old and had been reheated. The veg was boiled and plane. The gravy was in tiny little boats- again we had to ask for more. By the time it came food was cold Service was non-existent. Not once did anyone ask how our meal was, no one asked if we needed more drinks, no one asked if we needed sauces etc. We had to go to the bar to get our drinks ourselves. No cloth napkins, just cheap flimsy paper ones. The children’s meals were tiny as well, served on side plates and with no room for them to cut anything up. The desserts were below average. A sticky toffee pudding that tasted like it came out of the microwave, the crumble- I’ve had better supermarket ones. The table was booked by my dear Mother who hates to make a fuss and as it was a birthday she didn’t want to complain when we were all there. I have since tried to call to discuss the experience, with no joy. I have emailed and asked for the Manager to call; however, they want me to discuss it over email. No- I would like to speak with someone. Seems like they do not care for customer feedback or satisfaction. This was not a cheap meal either. If you are in a group and want to leave a restaurant where you’ve received no service, still starving, and ripped off, then book here.
