£25 for 3 meat slices is way too expensive! Sorry, but it's not good enough for the price paid. Hardly any chicken, too! The one slice of beef was very fatty. The pork was nearly all fat! Also £8.00 for a dry tiramisu is terrible, worst desert I've ever had! Drinks are very expensive! Great staff, though!

Me and my partner visited on the 12th of October to celebrate our 15th anniversary together. As soon as we walked in we got a very warm welcome. All of the staff where very friendly, they gave us plenty of time to choose our food and had plenty of food choices. The service was spot on, the food was amazing, atmosphere was lovely and nobody rushed us at all allowing us to eat our food and spend some quality time together.. Best part was when they came out with our puddings they had candles on them, which i though was lovely touch to the evening. Will definitely make another visit very soon.

We wanted to try this out as we have heard the food is really good. Saturday evening, and it was busy. We had made a reservation and were seated as soon as we arrived, in a very nice area in comfortable seats. The atmosphere was really nice, candles on the tables but a general hubbub which was very pleasant. The service was excellent, we were served promptly by lovely friendly staff. The menu was really good, there were plenty of options, more special dishes and a selection of pub classics. I had homemade soup and my partner chicken terrine, both served with homemade focaccia. We both chose the pie for main, steak and ale, this was clearly homemade, very nice and tasty but neither of us could finish it, portions very generous. It was served with mash and greens. The veg was particularly nice as there were 4 different vegs all cooked perfectly not undercooked as you get in so many places. Although we would have liked to have a pudding, neither of us had any room and had to forgo that. We have found that some pubs try to be fancy restaurants and although the food is talked up on the menu, when you get it , it fails to hit the mark expected. This is a proper pub that offers all sorts of good food and what we had was excellent. We will definitely be back to this one or one of the others in the group.

Lacklustre roasts. Not good, not bad. Roasties were crispy, gravy tasty, beef was ok. Soup was a strange one, sent it back as luke warm and one thin sliver of white baguette, no ‘chef’s bread’ as mentioned on the menu. Service was slow. All a bit meh.

We had evening dinner for four at The Langley Tap on Saturday our friends had been before and were so happy with everything we all decided to go for dinner. From walking into the bar area to the moment we left the waiting staff were so friendly and happy. All of our meals were perfectly presented and very tasty. I had the chicken supreme, excellent choice my wife also said her pie of the day “Steak & Ale” was also lovely. There’s also a lovely feel around the place when seated. I had the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream to finish also very nice although I wish the chef would of put the ice cream to the side instead of on the top, it made the pudding rather cold 🙄. All in all we had a lovely evening. Well done to you all at The Langley Tap

We had a lovely Sunday roast at the Langley Tap. We both went for the roast beef and it was melt in the mouth!! All the accompaniments were delicious, especially the roasties and the carrots. Also lovely to have extra gravy and a portion of cauliflower cheese brought to the table without asking, some restaurants would probably charge extra for that. The atmosphere of the pub itself is very cosy and welcoming. My only critique would be that my sticky toffee pudding was served stone cold. I didn’t say anything as I still thought it was tasty and could see all the waitresses were super busy. I think maybe it was just brought out before somebody in the kitchen had heated it up! Just maybe something to note to make sure it doesn’t happen again. But overall a really lovely meal and will be returning!

We visited recently for dinner. Initially we wanted to go to the sister pub ( Wellesley Arms) but unfortunately there were no tables available before 8.15pm and we wanted to eat earlier in the evening and so opted for the Langley Tap instead. We arrived early and perused the menu in the lovely beer garden at the rear of the pub. A little sun trap with table and chairs available. It was busy and a number of people were ordering take away pizzas from the pub to enjoy outside. Once inside the pub we received a friendly welcome and made ourselves comfortable in the dining room. I opted for the veggie main and my husband had the mackerel, which he said was very nice. My husband's meal wasn't particularly huge ( he should've gone for something more filling like the pie!) and he still felt hungry afterwards. The only criticism we have is that service was very slow. It was busy during our visit, however, there were four or five waiting staff available and at times they appeared to be just standing around at the bar and chatting. It's nice to not feel rushed at dinner but honestly, it took over an hour to receive our mains ( we didn't have starters). The food was very tasty and nicely presented. Overall a really nice meal but the service was far too slow for us. We would recommend, as long as you're not in a hurry!

Lovely looking village pub from the outside and very nice inside. We went for the Sunday roast but for 20pp it really is of a poor standard. The beef was chewy and over half of the one slice was fat and gristle. All of the food one the plate was cold as well apart from the potatoes. The portion size for the price is also awful i had one tiny carrot and one tiny parsnip hidden under 2 bad pieces of meat. The stuffing was also cold like it had just come out of the fridge. The yorkshire pudding was the one good thing on the plate. Service was pretty slow but that might have been because it was a Sunday. Nice pub for a drink but avoid going for food.

I'll be honest the Langley Tap didn't quite live up to the hype. We were unlucky to be next to a noisy large group so we had difficulty conversing. The fire wasn't lit as their website promised. A super visit to this warm welcoming pub with excellent friendly and professional staff. Hot haddock smokies won the best starters, quite exceptional. (Would suggest a side order of bread to mop it up) Very rich though so we did some sharing! Onion and cider soup was very good, quite sizeable for a starter. Butternut squash humous was ‘just’ ok. Shin of beef won the best mains award for the table, melt in the mouth with velvet soft potato and a rich gravy, though a mild aniseed flavour was unusually present. Tender stem broccoli and an unusual choice of mange tout, personally would have preferred some seasonal winter veg instead. Fish and chips and burger both decent as was the chicken dish. Sea bass is a great choice if you don’t fancy the beef. Immaculate toilet and a well ran ship overall. Excellent staff, who really cared about your experience fully deserved the £20 tip, and thankfully non of that rubbish ‘discretionary tip’ added to bill. Highly recommended.

I had booked the restaurant for a family lunch today as they offered an excellent festive menu. The reservation was confirmed by email, and they asked us to select our dishes prior to visiting as I expect they are very busy at this time of year. We duely did this and returned our choices by email. Yesterday I received another email asking me to. confirm that we were still eating there today, and the number of persons. I did this by return of the email. Today we showed up for our 12.30 reservation at this lovely country pub/restaurant, were welcomed by Seline and asked whether we had a reservation. She looked this up on their computer and asked us if we wanted drinks. We waited in the bar area until the whole family was there and were then shown to a nice table in the corner of the dining room. The pub was beautifully decorated for its Christmas season. When Seline brought menus of the day to our table we were a little surprised and said we had ordered our dishes on the festive menu already. This threw her completely as they had no festive menu on today and she went to speak with Mark the owner. On her return she apologised for the mixup and offered us the turkey but we would have had to wait another 40 minutes for it to be prepared. We declined this and ordered from the regular daily menu. The food was served very promptly as was a bottle of wine. My steak and stilton pie with mash and green vegetables was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful - probably the best pie of the day I gave ever tasted. Others had the fish and chips which was also delicious. The desserts were equally delicious and we finished with coffees. A thoroughly satisfying meal, with excellent service with a smile from Seline and her colleague. Maggie. It was also nice that Mark recognised that the mixup was totally their fault, and suitably compensated us for the disappointment over our missing Christmas meal. I cannot reccommend this pub/restaurant too highly, for its staff, quality of food and excellent service, and we plan1/ to return probably for a joint birthday celebration in early 2024. Thank you all for a lovely day as it turned out,

Having only eaten at the Langley Tap once before, many years ago and well before its fairly recent refurbishment, we were not sure what to expect. The Tap describes itself as a "traditional village pub", and in many ways it still is, in that the welcome is warm and genuine, the whole ambience is relaxed and friendly, and villagers can still just pop in for a quick pint if they want to. But it would probably do better to describe itself as more of a gastro-pub. We were a party of ten, celebrating one 80th and two 82nd birthdays, all within the last few weeks, In view of the size of the party the pub had asked us to pre-order our food, which was fair enough, but unfortunately the kitchen prepared one too few of the popular home-made steak & ale pie and one too many of the almost-equally popular chicken supreme, so one unfortunate chap then had to wait another 20+ minutes for a fresh pie to be prepared, since all food is cooked fresh to order. He took the delay very well, helped by an excellent pint of Swordfish, and like the rest of us he thoroughly enjoyed his pie when in came - but the rest of us had finished our main courses by then! There was also some confusion over the creme brulee desserts; several had ordered the Rasbeery one as per the menu we were sent, only to be told that tonight it was banana, not raspberry; most accepted that but my wife really wanted the raspberry and didn't fancy banana, so instead she opted for stickly toffee pudding, which she said was excellent, as was my own apple & berries crumble, served with ice cream as I requested even though, as I was told, "It comes with custard but I'll see what I can do!" However, the pre-ordered brulees, when served, were actually rasperry ones - they had obviously been pre-prepared specially! Some of the above may sound like criticism. It's not. The whole evening was a huge success, and everyone, I think without exception, was more than happy with the food, the drink, the service, the friendliness of the various girls who served us, the lovely natural-stone walls and fireplace (with glowing woodburner) and the whole atmosphere of the place. My one and only gripe is that for a "traditional village pub" the prices were well on the high side, even allowing for recent huge rises in the cost of food generally. Most eating-out places have had to increase their prices, but here these were several pounds GBP abpve the average for the area. Even that will not, I suspect, deter any of us from going back for our next group celebration!

The team went above and beyond to ensure our lovely food and drinks for our group of 19 were exactly right - AND we had lovely desserts to wrap it up! Special praise should go to the Chef - I think we all would have liked to see her/him to thank them personally.

oh my gosh, whilst holidaying in the area, we were keen to find a pub (other than where we were staying) for the England Euro's Semi Final. Although packed the landlady found us space and we were served with great home cooked traditional pub grub. And then we were accommodated further by a great view of the TV to watch the match with free half time nibbles and a great atmosphere. What a brilliant traditional pub, landlady and staff. We couldn't thank you enough for a great evening

Food was amazing and fantastic service at the Greyhound today. The staff were brilliant, friendly and very helpful which unfortunately is a rarity these days. Well done.

We live a few hours away so only visit occasionally but we love it every time we get there. Tony, Pat and Jayne provide epic homemade food and real ale straight from the barrel. Not to be missed…

To be honest I was surprised to come on here and see some quite bad reviews for this place. We visited for an early dinner with our young family. The venue was quirky, imaginative and interesting. Great for our little children as there was lots to look at- big printed posted of fruits and vegetables and a great garden to explore which loops all the way around the pub restaurant. It really is a beautiful spot to enjoy. We were served by, who we assume, must have been the manager/owner. She was great. On it and prompt. Made great recommendations. The younger two servers were a little lacking in knowledge of items on the dishes- we overheard a male server tell a customer that pieces of romanesco were tender stem broccoli and that 'he doesn't argue with the chef' and the young female server came over to do our order when it was already done. Easily done and at least they were both polite and trying their best. The menu offers local produce, interesting flavour combinations and nice portions. The highlight for us was the ice Crean sundaes- we shared 3 between us and loved the combination of flavours and textures. We loved it, would recommend it and would love to return when next in the area. Thank you.
