We visited today for lunch. The pub was very busy and we asked to be moved from the table that had been reserved for us as the area was so noisy. The person we spoke to was really helpful and moved us to another area straight away, without making us feel we were being annoying! Excellent service and food.

How to turn this into a 5-star review? Don't hand out an incorrect menu. When someone asks for a beer shandy don't list the lagers you have. If you are serving a regular Pepsi don't call it a Pepsi Max. Don't have Chicken terrine on the menu, take orders for it and then dish out ham hock. Don't say you are serving a three meat roast when it's actually only pork. Don't warn that the soup dishes are scolding hot but only provide lukewarm soup. Don't put the odd chair for a table of nine in front of the door for the toilet. And don't change the food, which is on the most part excellent.

£25 for 3 meat slices is way too expensive! Sorry, but it's not good enough for the price paid. Hardly any chicken, too! The one slice of beef was very fatty. The pork was nearly all fat! Also £8.00 for a dry tiramisu is terrible, worst desert I've ever had! Drinks are very expensive! Great staff, though!

Me and my partner visited on the 12th of October to celebrate our 15th anniversary together. As soon as we walked in we got a very warm welcome. All of the staff where very friendly, they gave us plenty of time to choose our food and had plenty of food choices. The service was spot on, the food was amazing, atmosphere was lovely and nobody rushed us at all allowing us to eat our food and spend some quality time together.. Best part was when they came out with our puddings they had candles on them, which i though was lovely touch to the evening. Will definitely make another visit very soon.

We wanted to try this out as we have heard the food is really good. Saturday evening, and it was busy. We had made a reservation and were seated as soon as we arrived, in a very nice area in comfortable seats. The atmosphere was really nice, candles on the tables but a general hubbub which was very pleasant. The service was excellent, we were served promptly by lovely friendly staff. The menu was really good, there were plenty of options, more special dishes and a selection of pub classics. I had homemade soup and my partner chicken terrine, both served with homemade focaccia. We both chose the pie for main, steak and ale, this was clearly homemade, very nice and tasty but neither of us could finish it, portions very generous. It was served with mash and greens. The veg was particularly nice as there were 4 different vegs all cooked perfectly not undercooked as you get in so many places. Although we would have liked to have a pudding, neither of us had any room and had to forgo that. We have found that some pubs try to be fancy restaurants and although the food is talked up on the menu, when you get it , it fails to hit the mark expected. This is a proper pub that offers all sorts of good food and what we had was excellent. We will definitely be back to this one or one of the others in the group.

We had evening dinner for four at The Langley Tap on Saturday our friends had been before and were so happy with everything we all decided to go for dinner. From walking into the bar area to the moment we left the waiting staff were so friendly and happy. All of our meals were perfectly presented and very tasty. I had the chicken supreme, excellent choice my wife also said her pie of the day “Steak & Ale” was also lovely. There’s also a lovely feel around the place when seated. I had the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream to finish also very nice although I wish the chef would of put the ice cream to the side instead of on the top, it made the pudding rather cold 🙄. All in all we had a lovely evening. Well done to you all at The Langley Tap

We had a lovely Sunday roast at the Langley Tap. We both went for the roast beef and it was melt in the mouth!! All the accompaniments were delicious, especially the roasties and the carrots. Also lovely to have extra gravy and a portion of cauliflower cheese brought to the table without asking, some restaurants would probably charge extra for that. The atmosphere of the pub itself is very cosy and welcoming. My only critique would be that my sticky toffee pudding was served stone cold. I didn’t say anything as I still thought it was tasty and could see all the waitresses were super busy. I think maybe it was just brought out before somebody in the kitchen had heated it up! Just maybe something to note to make sure it doesn’t happen again. But overall a really lovely meal and will be returning!

We visited recently for dinner. Initially we wanted to go to the sister pub ( Wellesley Arms) but unfortunately there were no tables available before 8.15pm and we wanted to eat earlier in the evening and so opted for the Langley Tap instead. We arrived early and perused the menu in the lovely beer garden at the rear of the pub. A little sun trap with table and chairs available. It was busy and a number of people were ordering take away pizzas from the pub to enjoy outside. Once inside the pub we received a friendly welcome and made ourselves comfortable in the dining room. I opted for the veggie main and my husband had the mackerel, which he said was very nice. My husband's meal wasn't particularly huge ( he should've gone for something more filling like the pie!) and he still felt hungry afterwards. The only criticism we have is that service was very slow. It was busy during our visit, however, there were four or five waiting staff available and at times they appeared to be just standing around at the bar and chatting. It's nice to not feel rushed at dinner but honestly, it took over an hour to receive our mains ( we didn't have starters). The food was very tasty and nicely presented. Overall a really nice meal but the service was far too slow for us. We would recommend, as long as you're not in a hurry!

The beef was chewy and over half of the one slice was fat and gristle. All of the food one the plate was cold as well apart from the potatoes. The portion size for the price is also awful i had one tiny carrot and one tiny parsnip hidden under 2 bad pieces of meat. The stuffing was also cold like it had just come out of the fridge. Friendly staff and a great experience overall which restores my faith in British hospitality, especially on a wet Tuesday in January !

Stoped in after a dog walk for a pint and some chips. The kitchen had just closed but the staff went to the trouble of fitting us in. Great beer and even better chips - if they can get something so simple so good we though lunch must be amazing so booked the next day for Sunday roast!

Good beer, good food (although we only had starters - trying to lose weight after Christmas!), and the staff were very friendly.

A super visit to this warm welcoming pub with excellent friendly and professional staff. Hot haddock smokies won the best starters, quite exceptional. (Would suggest a side order of bread to mop it up) Very rich though so we did some sharing! Onion and cider soup was very good, quite sizeable for a starter. Butternut squash humous was ‘just’ ok. Shin of beef won the best mains award for the table, melt in the mouth with velvet soft potato and a rich gravy, though a mild aniseed flavour was unusually present. Tender stem broccoli and an unusual choice of mange tout, personally would have preferred some seasonal winter veg instead. Fish and chips and burger both decent as was the chicken dish. Sea bass is a great choice if you don’t fancy the beef. Immaculate toilet and a well ran ship overall. Excellent staff, who really cared about your experience fully deserved the £20 tip, and thankfully non of that rubbish ‘discretionary tip’ added to bill. Highly recommended.

We had a great night! Everyone working there was super nice and welcoming. The food arrived in great time and was beautiful. I had a proper 'Ratatouille' moment with a tear in the corner of my eye when I had the first bite of my steak and stilton pie. It took me right back to special family dinners at my grandparents' when I was a kid. A great time. Portions are perfect, prices seem to make sense for the quality/quantity you get. And the drinks selection was very nice as well. All in all, a great place to go! Thanks to the boh and the foh, we will most definitely be back and wish you all all the best

Another lovely lunch with friends . Never disappoints , excellent service from Mark and the girls . Really great choices on the menu . Our last two visits were at the Wesley which were also excellent as the Tap was closed , so very happy to lunch there today . Both wonderful country pubs but the Tap is my favourite .

Cracking country pub. Magic Sunday Roasts, and great beer garden when the weather is warmer.

We were going to the cinema and wanted to have lunch close by. The menu looked perfect so we decided to try here and we were really pleased. There is a huge range of choices for different times of the day. We chose burgers - one with salad and one with chips. They were great - good size, lovely crunchy coleslaw and generous portions of chips and an interesting mixed salad. Speedy service and really friendly and helpful staff. Great venue and we will be back.

oh my gosh, whilst holidaying in the area, we were keen to find a pub (other than where we were staying) for the England Euro's Semi Final. Although packed the landlady found us space and we were served with great home cooked traditional pub grub. And then we were accommodated further by a great view of the TV to watch the match with free half time nibbles and a great atmosphere. What a brilliant traditional pub, landlady and staff. We couldn't thank you enough for a great evening

A great location with an authentic and real atmosphere, the staff were superb and the food excellent. We stayed at the Bowood Hotel & Spa but chose to eat at The Greyhound which is only a very short distance away. All credit to Tara & Danny for their hospitality at The Greyhound, we’ll be back!!!

Had lunch here because we use its sister pub, The Langley Tap, and were hoping for a similar experience. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Food was disappointing, I had a chicken satay dish to start with, which was a couple of strips of chicken on a lettice bad with a very watery peanut sauce on the side. Chicken pie was all mush inside, and the veg was cold. Service was slow, and the restaurant was very noisy. Quite a shame.

We turned up without a reservation and that was fine. We only had light lunches but they were excellent and homemade (watercress soup and salmon pate). It is a small, friendly, country pub. While clean and nicely decorated it has not been overly modernised.
