The best restaurants serving British food in Torridge South West

A large portion of chips should stretch further than what they do at the minute, i should be able to feed a couple of adults and feel full, i could have finished it myself! same with the pots of gravy/ curry. I'll be visiting the competition around the corner next time we want a chippy. Shame, as they are nice.

The new owners, Justine and Andy, have transformed this friendly village pub. They provide great meals at great prices as well as events such as music and quiz nights. We run a B&B nearby and lots of our guests have been there and provided good reports to back up our own experiences. Well done!

We visited the Coach and Horses whilst we stayed for a weekend in Devon. Rang and reserved a table for than evening. The Landlord was really helpful and gave us great directions on how to get there. When we arrived the Landlord was most welcoming, treating us like we were old friends. The menu was very varied, with a selection of chef's specials, all very reasonably priced. The food was great quality and the portion size way more than you could eat. All in all an absolutely wonderful evening out 👍😊. If you ever north Devon, I would highly recommend you visit the Coach and Horses at Buckland, you won't be disappointed.

Visited The Crealock a number of times recently. Without exception, food has been great every time. Good variety on the menu, and a variety of specials every day. Sunday roast very good too, booking pretty much essential on Sunday. Going again tonight, looking forward to it already

Fantastic service and food is excellent and great value for money. Wide variety of food fr meals to snacks... come shine or rain as various places to sit , whatever the weather..

Good pub food in basic but very friendly environment.... and nice selection of beer as well. Lots of local chatter drowning out sport tv unless you go down that dnd of bar.

We went to the Union in on Saturday the 14th Dec for an evening meal with freinds from Birmingham, who were staying at Shebbear . The atmosphere was frindly and the staff helpfull . The menue is really good and I said to my wife we must come back again soon to try some of these other meals . Two of us went for the specials item of lamb steak and chips with all the trimmings onion rings, tomatoes, mushrooms ( realy tasty mushrooms ) peas and loads and loads of delicious chips . We were stuffed ! No room for deserts I'm affraid . We have been here before and had the lovely sunday roast take aways as we only life at Frithelstock stone . We really recomend this pup . Arrived in the area on Thursday. Stopped for a coffee on Friday morning. super cafe staff lovely . We would like to mention the lady who served us sadly We don’t know her name she was so nice gave us lots of tips of places to visit in the area we have followed her advice and had a great holiday. Called in after a day out hearing the good reviews of the place from the family and we were not disappointed. We had two fish and chips which were top quality and I would highly recommend

first visit to Lindsey's cafe,had a lattee,which remained hot and had their homemade fruit cheesecake which was delicious.

Dogs not allowed any more, very unfriendly when I tried to go in despite sensible dogs who went there a lot last year. Avoid.

We booked Sunday lunch for three of us with a view to watching the Football afterwards. First visit to this pub and all I can say is WOW. The roast dinner was very good and plenty of it too. The Dessert my partners Son had was also very good. We then went to the bar area to watch the Football and they reserved a table for us which was very much appreciated. Very friendly atmosphere with some good banter. Overall a fantastic afternoon.

Lovely staff and great pub atmosphere. Good selection of drinks. Personally for me the homemade chips were too oily. Could be old oil . Massive portions too However pudding so options and were lovely. Will go back again but for me I will avoid the chips.

Hadn’t been to the FILO for years, but were told the food was very good, so decided to go for Sunday lunch, it was a bit quite in the pub but shown to our table by a young lady who I have to say is an asset to the place, so polite and attentive. When our lunch came there was plenty of it nice and fresh and piping hot. The sweets were to die for. Well don FILO a most enjoyable Sunday lunch thank you
