Turned up @8pm on a Friday night and they managed to squeeze us in outside in a booth. Good choice on the menu. Food was awesome. Arrived about 20 mins after ordering. Fresh and hot. Soon was 5 empty plates. Puddings also good although bit pricey. All in all a great family meal. I’d recommend and we’d go back next time in the area.

A somewhat disappointing visit to the Thatch this time. A very long wait for food, a number of Specials sold out ( it’s August to be fair). Some lovely food but also some dishes were disappointing. I’m sure we will go again but out of peak season.

Food came pretty quick and the waiters/waitresses were friendly. But the best part was THE FOOD!!! I honestly have never seen a burger that big in my life 🤣. I loved it! Very cozy pub to!

A first class location for a wonderful family meal. The staff were warm and welcoming and the quality and quantity of the food served was brilliant with a great selection of menu and special items. I would definitely recommend this location and will likely visit again

This spot is great for a casual supper or lunchtime meal. Picked our campsite based on verbal reviews of this pub and we the food exceeded our expectations. Outside lovely thatched building but on first entering looks a bit pokey and tired. Don't be fooled nor put off as the food is excellent. And the staff very friendly and keen to assist. All food is notated with allergen markers which made choosing easy. I'm dairy free so chose from the specials board the whole grilled fresh trout but could have had sea bream for the same price. At £23 more than I'd intended to pay but the portion was well worth the money so tasty and well cooked. In fact the best pub meal I've had in years. Chips piping hot crunchy and so many. I was too full to order a dessert. Crispy fresh mixed salad and tartar sauce. My husband had the gammon which came with roasted vine tomatoes, pineapple, egg and chips for £15.99. Well cooked again and not salty. We both made a point of complimenting the chef. We were seated in a booth in the garden surrounded but real plants as the restaurant was fully booked but we preferred this setting to inside. We would highly recommend and when we're back in the area well head straight for this pub. A great pub for those who need diarery needs considered. There was a mix of locals and tourists with a large party celebrating a birth. They were really busy but it didn't impact on service or quality. A real gem. One to seek out.

This is one of the best restaurants in Devon. Great for burgers, snitzel, seafood and ribs, we like everything here. The cheesecake is delicious.

A lovely looking country pub and nice inside with friendly staff and nice beer. The food was OK, the starter fish cake was underwhelming and seemed to be deep fried and lacking in taste. A little on the expensive side for a starter. The main course was better, a beef pie but was served with a minuscule amount of veg and rock hard pale under cooked parsnips. All in all, average and a little overpriced.

Really nice food and location. The sunday lunch was one of the best and waa served carvery style. There is a sheltered outside area too.

Recently had a family carvery here and for the price it was a little disappointing the beef was very tough and the gravy wasn’t very hot there was no small potatoes or boiled potatoes or small sausages like you can get from other places I wouldn’t rush back but wouldn’t say I would never come back there is better places around and cheaper

First ever visit, promoted by great reviews! Very busy in main bar on arrival, promptly given excellent customer service from Carlos, who located us a table, which was already reserved for later, but very politely asked if we were staying long, to which we said only short visit for drink & food up to 1 1/2hrs, he made us very welcome, looked after us throughout. Husband loved the ales on tap, our main meals came prompt and mine was exceptional definitely recommend the Beef Brisket in a Guinness gravy beautifully soft with root veg perfectly cooked. Husband had the fish pie. Carlos gave us a complimentary scoop of coconut ice cream to try, as we declined desserts as full! To be fair never had coconut ice cream before and it was lovely. Will definitely visit again, if ever over this way. It’s obviously very popular, it’s probably advisable booking to avoid disappointment. Vary rarely do you get great food, great service, warm and comfortable seating and great ales!

We returned after reading the reviews as in the past had a very poor experience. Warm welcome which is a great start. Our host for the evening was Carlos who was good fun, but also very attentive. We were all very pleased with our menu choices and steaks were cooked as requested. Coconut ice cream is delicious. We will be back.

Can be a bit hit and miss, sometimes great sometimes not so great, depends on what you order and what day it is I think. But mostly good pub food and good sized portions. The owner is nice and hospitable.

We went as a family with our children and grandchildren for Sunday lunch. It was fabulous to be able to choose off the menu as well as carvery which the little ones did. Carvery was lovely and even though it was extremely busy the staff work exceptionally hard to ensure it runs like clockwork. Great choice of dessert extremely well described by Carlos !!! The sticky toffee requires a return visit !! 10/10 for food and especially all the staff

We visited The Thatched Inn today for the first time. We only had a main course, I had Gammon steak with chunky chips, egg and pineapple. The gammon was lovely and thick, egg perfectly fried and super chips. My partner whose the (large) pork carvery which she loved, she said she could eat a whole portion of the vegetables on it's own but she really enjoyed the whole meal. All the staff we saw were polite, happy and keen to make our visit the best. We will be visiting again and soon.

Absolutely fantastic pub with great service. The service received from Carlos was amazing his knowledge of the menu was fantastic and all the other staff were friendly. We were a large group and nobody had any complaints about the food which was to a very high standard and there was a good selection available. The pub itself was warm and cosy and didn't feel as though you were crammed in. The only slight issue was the parking as the pub doesn't have its own carpark but there is parking on the road. Highly recommended and definitely worth a visit.

Gorgeous pub, lovely food and outstanding service. 100% recommend. Extensive menu everything we had was excellent. All the staff were great and friendly however a personal shout out to Carlos as he absolutely went above and beyond to ensure you felt welcome and received great service. We visited this hostelry twice while on holiday in the area. It has a cosy, old pub feel and is run by an efficient, friendly team. The food choices are huge from the menu and there’s a specials board too. Food is cooked to a very high standard and served nicely on the plate, steaming hot. My beef brisket was melt-in-the-mouth and the loaded fries (on our second visit) were loaded indeed. Portions are on the small side, so you have every excuse to enjoy three courses! It’s a bit out of the way and parking is roadside, but it’s well worth tracking this place down.

Lovely old pub, very nice food and friendly waiting staff. Parking is a bit limited if the Pub is busy, on-street parking only. We ate there twice during our 7 night holiday (stayed at Westward Ho!) after discovering it on the 4th night. We look forward to visiting again end of May/early June 2024.

popped in for an evening bite to eat as missus totally messed up directions so found this beauty by accident. Had just a mains dinner but glad we did. Excellent evening in a friendly pub hot food good beer enough said will be quite cosy in winter with fires lit too.

The best pub lunch ever. I had the tuna jacket and my husband had the chicken schnitzel . Our dog was as made very welcome too. Will definitely be returning when we stay in the area again

Varied menu, lots of choice, food lovely and tasty. Being an authentic thatched inn there are various areas/rooms for dining, I found the small dining area very cramped and lacking in privacy, but there are other dining areas and the bar and conservatory which offer better space. Staff friendly and attentive.

Cannot rate this pub highly enough! What a gem of a place, friendly, capable hard working staff, the most excellent roast dinner ( Carvery) and amazing value for money! The staff clearly know what they’re doing and are like a finely tuned orchestra, nothing was too much trouble for them. Really had a lovely time and we shall go back again and again…! (Food was outstanding) 10/10!

Phoned to ask what time they served the food till, told the kitchen shuts at 2.30. so be seated before that. Get there in plenty of time and order wine, starter, and main meal for 2 people. Food was average pub food, to be honest, but ok. Had another glass of wine. The meal finished just before 2.15. table cleared, no enquiry to us about deserts. So we asked about it. No, I can't have it because the kitchen is closed at 2.30.... not 2 30 yet, surely ice cream or even a jam sponge and ice cream would be possible. No! I have never been denied a dessert when the kitchen is still open. Very strange, not really good customer service, could have told us kitchen closes at 2.30 but if you order 15 minutes before closure it will mean you will still be eating after 2 30 so no! you can't have it! Wouldn't happen in any pub or restaurant I have used before. No wonder many businesses don't go well in Devon. And that cost me over £70. Won't go there again.

Followed the road signs because we were a bit stuck, found an amazing cosy country pub at the end, drinks and staff service was amazing, food we didn't have, we left regretting that, to any tourist like us, I highly recommend this bar, its heaven

We came for the carvery Sunday lunch, it was amazing and so tasty. We were staying in Westward Ho! and it’s only a five minute drive. Really recommend.

We went for dinner with friends, we ate in a booth in the garden, very comfortable a quiet. Sadly our choice of chicken and leek pie was not available due to a large party in a function room. We all ended up with a dinner we didn`t really want, but it was OK. Like many pubs we encountered, it is “pay as you drink or eat”.

We visited on Monday 7th august. Family of 4 plus small dog. Booked in advance, no problem with getting a table. Lots of outdoor covered space. Food was amazing. Staff were lovely and friendly. Everything came out hot and we didn’t gave to wait long at all. Would definitely recommend. Thank you.

We visited after being at The Big Sheep theme park. We hadn’t booked, but that wasn’t a problem at all! We sat in the garden and it was safe and enclosed area. What a magical place, we were on a "Family Tree" excursion around the area, unfortunately to early for lunch or drinks, but mine host made us extremely welcome, with invite to explore the premises!!!
