The best restaurants serving British food in Mendip South West

Excellent, I can't recommend it enough.

Such a wonderfully welcoming and relaxed restaurant with the most amazing food right in the heart of England’s tiniest city. We went for a family New Years Eve meal and the service and food was absolutely spot on. We will definitely return. Highly recommended!

So here we are again. I the most friendliest, calm and warm cafe we adore. My husband and I love it here. The service is wonderful. Clean amenities, tables and the sun shines beautifully through their windows. Go peeps. You'll love it too. Tasty and reasonably priced scummy food. Excellent presentation ALL staff are professional and smart.

What a lovely little cafe, with stunning views over Falmouth Harbour from the rear. Cosy relaxed and a little eclectic gives this place quite a different feel. Good service, good coffee and a tasty bacon and hash brown bap.

We visited here today with our 2 dogs 3-4pm. We received a friendly welcome, all the staff were lovely and very attentive, great service. I had a red bush tea, and hubby had americano coffee (he said it was really nice coffee). There was a lovely atmosphere, with background music that didn't make it difficult to eat with it playing. The food didn't take long to arrive, it was well presented, they used fresh salad ingredients, and cooked the food perfectly. I'm both gluten and milk intolerant, I chose a beyond meat burger. It was very tasty. Hubby chose the steak, and he said he enjoyed his meal. So, we stayed for dessert. Hubby enjoyed sticky toffee pudding, and I had GF VG passion fruit Semifreddo, omg it was really lovely, I highly recommend it. It is very rare to find a dessert for me when we eat out. We took home a chocolate & raspberry torte, it tasted rich and delicious. A big thank you to the team at Fondo Lounge. You delivered an enjoyable customer service experience today. I will add a photo of my dessert, I should have taken it before I cut it with my spoon, but you'll get the idea

What a lovely traditional pub with open fire. Had steak and prosecco. One of the best steaks ever. Had a great evening there with my wife. Would highly recommend absolutely lovely.

We keep coming back and it's still awesome. Great food, lovely staff and a nice chilled vibe.

My fiancé and I came to Wells for the night and had booked at this lovely little restaurant. The staff Rita and Alice were very friendly and efficient. I had the king prawns for start and duck and honey for main. They were both absolutely delish! Highly recommended.

The Fox is een erg leuk restaurant. We stonden op een camping in de omgeving en we zochten een goed restaurant. The Fox vind je niet zomaar, deze zit buiten het centrum van het stadje Frome. We hebben er erg lekker gegeten en gedronken. Echt een aanrader! Niet te groot, echt leuk. Ik denk dat hier veel locale bewoners komen. Ze zijn sinds een half jaar ook een camping begonnen. Die hadden we niet gevonden en daarom staan we ergens anders. Bediening is wel erg snel, Nederlanders zitten graag wat langer aan rafel. Echter erg lekker gegeten en gedronken, ik kan u dit restaurant van harte aanbevelen. The Fox, thank for the very nice dinner!

Lovely cappuccino and the staff were friendly and helpful. Friends that I was with had lunch and they had dietary needs, that the staff were really great with and offered alternatives. We were made to feel welcome throughout our visit and I will definitely be back again.

I don't normally like to write a negative review but on this occasion I feel I need to write this as a warning to any fellow motorhomers/camper vanners...DO NOT GO HERE!! Although car park is of ample size to accommodate vehicles of this size we were greeted by a knock on the door and a very rude landlady( who judging by other reviews does seem to be a problem) questioning us on our intentions and stating that she does not like us parking in her carpark and that we would not be able to stay unfortunately this happened just as her pub was opening for lunch trade so I'm not sure what she thought we were doing there!...maybe she should consider a customer relation course as we will not return and advise others not to and avoid the embarrassment.

Cannot recommend this pub enough. Home cooked food and friendly service. Good selection of beers & soft drinks & welcome dogs too!! Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch,

Absolutely amazing hidden gem! Have driven past this place so many times without really noticing it, and then tried it with friends and our children on the off chance of a much needed breakfast!

One of the best English breakfasts around - good quality sausages, eggs how you like them and crispy hash browns, perfect!
