Town+house By Always Sunday in Mendip

Came here for Sunday lunch by myself and will definitely be back. First time here despite having lived in Bath a few years now. Amazing service, especially from lovely lady behind the bar running the show. I even got my Bloody Mary on the house! Best roast potatoes I’ve had anywhere in a long time. Generous portion of roast. Lovely atmosphere. Make sure to book ahead for Sunday lunch. It’s busy on Sundays so be prepared to wait a bit for your food but it’s so worth it. Choice of porchetta, beef or a vegetarian / Vegan alternative or for larger parties (4-6 people) you can pre-order a spatchcock sharing chicken. This restaurant is in a local area of the city, away from the main / touristy places. Super lovely experience here.

We loved this little breakfast place. The food was spot on. The service was friendly and attentive. Our B&B was just up the hill a bit. Would recommend this little eatery to anyone visiting Bath.

All good was delicious, except the Yorkshire puddings were very over done. Staff were friendly and helpful but towards the end of our meal they got too busy and stopped offering drinks. The lady working behind the bar actually came over quickly and grabbed my dads empty wine glass (he was about to order another one) and she took it away and washed it in the sink before promptly refilling it and giving it to another customer who was waiting for a drink. They need to get more wine glasses. A shame because my Dad was about to order another glass of wine and we were going to have coffees…we were not asked and our empty plates were sitting there for a good 40 minutes. We will come back because the food was great but service needs some improvement.

We really like this venue and keen it thrives, and whilst there’s lots still great since they evolved their menu very substantively recently, we had a v disappointing Sunday Roast - I.e no Sunday roast! Despite calling several times to confirm our booking and that we were coming for a roast (on the day!) when we arrived we were told they had sold out of their sole meat roast (even though we’d phoned an hour before confirming we were coming for a roast). The staff were friendly and apologetic but it was a poor show, we had to order a burger instead and then waited 45 mins for that. We were offered free ice cream (randomly) but even that didn’t work out well as they had to come back and revised our order 3 times after they didn’t have any of the flavours they offered. Lovely live music and we do love the venue , but such a let down food wise .

We used their private function room for a school reunion recently. Staff were so friendly, helpful and couldn't do enough to help! Food was great and the house wine very good value. Stayed until closing and will be back again if I'm back in the area as the atmosphere there was lovely.

Sunday Roast Wow ! What a place great hidden find. Would def recommend best meal in Bath to date. Fantastic staff, cocktails interior and company.

A great, compact, yet mighty pub! Staff very welcoming & the burgers are divine (all 4 of us had burgers; 1 Mushroom Burger, 1 Cheeseburger, 1 "Fill Your Buns" Cheeseburger & 1 Lexi Burger, served in exquisite handmade buns). The fries are a taste experience of their own! Can't believe I'm going to mention the Ketchup, but is not your standard tiny sachet & I've never had a Ketchup like it, utterly amazing flavour - I'm a "huge dollop" fan & yet only needed one sachet. Then there's Dessert, the Brownie served is NOT to be missed. Not being a chocolate lover the Salted Caramel Brownie exceeded my expectation. I am a coffee lover & do like to sample the coffee wherever I go...I will admit I am fussy when it comes to my coffee & not many places can present a 10/10 & I give the Cappuccino I had a 9/10, my personal taste is quite strong & for me it could have been stronger but the foam gets a 10 all of its own, the best I've ever had. Well worth the 4 hour round trip & will definitely be going back to try the Sunday Roast! Well done Team Town+House 👏

Used to be a brilliant gastro pub, now only serves burgers and fries nothing healthy! Some salad or veg would be nice. Disappointing.

Friendly local place slightly off the beaten track but has a great selection of cocktails, food is excellent and well priced.

Came here for a meal with my girlfriend and had such a lovely time, the food was incredible (we had the porchetta and roast beef) accompanied by a lovely atmosphere and service. I have also visited before for the burgers too and they definitely don’t disappoint. Absolutely recommend for sunday roast or even for a drink with a smile.

What a find. A friend booked this for four of us for a Sunday lunch. We had a cosy table upstairs & the food & service were absolutely top notch. Everyone who served us was friendly , knowledgable & just really great people. We’d been at our table for 2 hours (& finished our meal ) & were given a table downstairs in the bar area to continue our afternoon & finish our (very agreeable) wine. Nothing was too much trouble. I had the Porchetta , which was huge. Perfect crackling , roast potatoes with the correct amount of ‘crunch’ , so many vegetables , apple sauce & the best cauliflower cheese side dish I’ve ever eaten (topped with vegetable skin crisps) We had the most fantastic afternoon , with thank to everyone there.

Quirky and cute place on the corner. Lovely staff and catered for 10 hens. Barista was very happy to make many iced coffee’s. Everyone said it was really good quality and a good value for money.

Stopped in late afternoon for a sneaky cocktail or two whilst staying close by for a short break. Lovely bar. Very friendly, good lager on tap. Kitchen not open when we went but would definitely return and give it a try if we get the opportunity. Would recommend.

What used to be The King William pub on the busy London Road into Bath is now the rather boringly named Town + House. That all said it’s just a name and I’m pleased they brand themselves as a bar and restaurant rather than a gastropub. I’m done with the whole pretentious snobbery and holier than thou attitude that comes with anything that is loosely labelled with the prefix gastro. It’s become a passport for escalating, yet unjustifiable prices. Everything now must be line caught, hand reared, sustainably sourced and organically produced. This plays on our desire to pitch ourselves as high as possible on the moral high ground thereby ensuring our socially caring compass is always pointing in the right direction. Quite honestly, rubbish. What I care about is how much my scallop its costing me on a plate; it’s texture, juiciness, quality and how the chef has cooked it. I’m less bothered to know if a diver has done his marine boy thing and held his breath for 5 minutes or whether it’s been big boat trawled. On entering the place is simply furnished with a combo of stuff paying homage to the Georgian age of the building along with modern, jazzy art and cool, funky lighting. Regular readers will know I have a thing for restaurants hitting on the right background music playlist and this place totally nailed it. The menu is simple with limited choice, which I always see as a good thing. Sign of a Chef confident in his own skin. We by-passed starters and the blonde had Gnocchi with spring onion, wild garlic and dill pesto oil with gorgonzola sauce which she declared outstanding. I had herb crusted lamb rump with a pressed potato terrine, asparagus, pea puree, mint salsa verde and lamb jus which I also declared outstanding. This is seriously good cookery. We shared two desserts: a strawberry & almond tart and a cremeux with poached pear; without doubt the best desserts we have had in ages. The bill (including 12.5% service) for 2 mains & 2 desserts, 2 cocktails, G&T and a bottle of wine was £115

A fabulous addition to the restaurant scene in Bath. As residents in Bath of (too long) it was a delight to welcome this gem. We had the sharing plates (6 between us) and they were each delicious in their own way and complemented each other perfectly. Super friendly waiting staff and a good value wine list. What’s not to like!

Came here for Sunday lunch yesterday, a group of 5 friends staying in Bath for the weekend. We were booked in at 12 as it opened. Staff were really friendly and welcoming. I started with the mackerel which was tasty and all the veg tasted fresh. 2 friends had the terrine which went down well and one had the soup which was thick and creamy. All dishes were presented well. Two of us had the rusty beef which was pink and succulent. Had to ask for more gravy but that might be a northern thing, and the staff provided more without question. Two had the chicken burgers which were good, one friend thought it was a bold choice with the chilli sauce but she enjoyed it. The other friend had the gnocchi, which was breaded and she really liked it. Overall a lovely, relaxed dining experience.

Super friendly and accommodating staff, they were all a delight from taking the booking to saying goodbye! Absolutely terrific Roast Beef which was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful..absolutely faultless in every way. The chocolate dessert also tasted lovely but having made something similar at home, it wasn't as impressive as the Roast.. we also thought the presentation could have been better! We felt the entire experience was really, really let down by the Chianti. It tasted sharp and well..cheap!!! and for the first few sips, we couldn't help but pull a face which was a natural reaction that we couldn't help but do! Had the wine been of the same standard as the wonderful Roast Beef and the attentive staff who served it, we would have said 5+ stars. I guess you could say that we should have returned the wine..but in true British style, we didn't want to make a fuss. We just could not understand why a restaurant fortunate to have such talent working there, would compromise with such an inferior wine..hence the 4 stars.

What an amazing evening! Our waitress was Emily, she was very accomodating and attentive. She told us she was very anxious since it was her first shift at town+house but if she hadn't said we would have never guessed!

Valentine’s Day a few days after becoming engaged. Wow. Thank you so much to all the staff who made our visit extra special. Truly incredible food, the chef is and menu superb! Cocktails were insanely delicious, thanks Cosmo your were great! The decor and relaxed, sophisticated atmosphere made our night one to remember. We felt super special and really welcome. Brilliant place. Can’t wait to come back to eat more gorgeous food, play some board games and drink lots of cocktails with friends!

Really nice, laid back Sunday lunch. Lovely ambience and great food. There’s a lot of places doing Sunday lunches that feel as though they’re cooked and served by a conveyor belt. That wasn’t the case here, where the food felt fresh and inventive. Service was relaxed but professional, even to the point of providing a dog bed for our little hound. A happy Sunday…

Sunday Roast huge let down. Food was cold and roast potatoes were more like boiled potatoes that had been put in the oven for about 5 mins. Ran out of beef so was offered steak. Asked for rare but it was well done. They did make me another one which was lush and they nuked the rest of my dinner so it was at least hot! Lovely ambience and super staff made up for disappointing lunch. We will visit again as am sure we were just unlucky.

My wife and I kept walking by and thinking it looked really nice from the outside. We were sadly disappointment. £17 for 2 coffees and 2 slices of cake. Nice coffee but way overpriced, the cakes were stale and wouldn’t have been great when fresh.

Really delicious burgers, triple cooked chips and salads. Very fresh and high standard restaurant style food, eaten in our living room. Butter chicken burger was extra fantastic!!! I'll be having that again very soon.
