Lovely cappuccino and the staff were friendly and helpful. Friends that I was with had lunch and they had dietary needs, that the staff were really great with and offered alternatives. We were made to feel welcome throughout our visit and I will definitely be back again.

Pickwicks is a lovely spot for a coffee or or a full meal. There is stiff competition in a city of tea rooms and coffee shops, but Pickwicks stands out from the crowd and has never let us down. It always seems to be busy, but the attentive staff are well able to deal with lots of customers and treat everybody with the same courtesy and good humour. The food is of an excellent standard, particularly the home baked cakes and seasonal items, and the coffee is very good. We can thoroughly and unreservedly recommend Pickwicks.

I just love this cafe, the staff are so friendly and helpful ☺️ the service is great, the food and coffee ☕ is excellent and the cakes are amazing with plenty of choice to suit all. Just walking through the door feels good, as the decor is warm and inviting, a great place to meet with friends, family or business meetings.

Visited today, 26 June, for what was a lovely meal served by lovely attentive staff. Our dog Evie was made very welcome. After I helped a young man in difficulties at the till I later noticed that staff had also paid that help forward. Gestures like this mean a lot and I appreciate it. Having been to Wells numerous times, this was our first at Pickwicks. What a great find! I was greeted with one of the friendliest welcomes that I have had for some time. My son joined me and we had a superb Coronation Quiche, breakfast bagel and cake. Fantastic service and genuinely home cooked delicious food. And great value. Honestly could not fault it as somewhere lovely for lunch. Wouldn’t hesitate to go again.

Top Marks all round. The food here is delicious. Couldn’t fault it. From the Brie and Bacon tart with the beautiful pastry or the delicious lasagne. Didn’t try the cakes but they looked good enough to tempt me back. Lots of little details that usually niggle on my nerves were just right here … eg: the salt and pepper grinders and full sized sauce bottles, as well as the low, unobtrusive background music which was a pleasant addition rather than an assault. Add to that Uber friendly service (didn’t quite catch the name but may have been Sherry). All in all an extremely pleasant luncheon and our new go to when in Wells

The staff were so welcoming and friendly, especially given the times we are in and how stressful it all is.They also went out of their way to try and accomodate a group who were placed near us and who could not do more to be difficult (being picky does not equal dietary requirements) and rude to boot - all whilst making sure they were heard. Trying to scam local small business owners out of money, the shame! My husband and I couldn't help but giggle though.I will be coming back feeling like a valued customer. Called in at 3.30pm on a sunny Saturday afternoon in September. Seated but told 'no food' as closing at 4pm. Cream tea? 'Run out of scones'. (At what time would you be expected to have a cream tea I wonder? Lunchtime presumably). Could have a piece of cake but nothing more. The Earl Grey tea was a pot of hot water with two cups and saucers, one containing a tea bag. Not a taxing effort. Several potential customers walked through the door after us but were offered even more limited options, i.e. the slice of cake more reluctantly offered. The staff were plainly keen to leave and clearing up around the remaining customers. The cake was nice but I have to say this was old fashioned British customer service at its most familiar. One would have expected that given the months of lockdown, walk-ins would be welcomed with open arms...... at 3.30..... on a sunny afternoon in September!

This place is badly managed and sales bog standard food for top prices. As I looked at the menu outside, I thought £6.75 was about the right for a veggie breakfast. We had looked around at the other places that were full so decided to settle for pickwicks. I wish we hadn’t bothered. We were offered a seat by the door, but I asked if we could be placed further in near the back to avoid the cold as we had just been for a walk. We then got placed by the fire exit. We proceeded to order food, which was made difficult by the host refusing to adjust any of the menu to suit our needs. Once we had finally decided that the only way for one of our friends to get ANYTHING to eat without paying for stuff she didn’t want, was to add her food as an extra to our food we settled for that and asked for a separate plate. The first waitress was actually quite nice but clearly was not aloud to change anything on the menu to suit the customers needs. After we had received our drinks we realised that even though they were large portions of coffee. They were just large portions of water, a bit of milk and a bit of coffee. I had a “combo” which was an Americano mixed with a latte but it just tasted like watered down americano. I suspect the moat water has more flavour. The second waitress then came out to put our cutlery on the table stating that the extras could not be put on a separate plate. I found this a bit confusing as to why. When they brought the food out it was budget and tasteless and to top off a member of staff then opened the door to allow another customer with a dog to sit outside. This made the food, my friends and I instantly cold. I didn’t really get why the customer with the dog was ushered outside as the dog had walked through the restaurant to get to the outside area, but seemed they had no choice to sit outside. I then got up to shut the door as it was bloody freezing. (Side note there was no heating in the restaurant) I think a lot of other customers appreciated this. Most of them except for the customer with the dog who had no way of getting back in. Even though it was a fire exit it was actually stopping the customer from exiting the building with the only exit being what looked like through the kitchen. If the the kitchen (most likely place to catch on fire) had caught fire they would have been stuck. THIS SHOULD PROBABLY BE CHECKED OUT BY HEALTH AND SAFETY. Finally turns out the breakfast was not £6.75 it was £8.50

Terrible service from the minute we sat down. Really difficult to get a simple request sorted out and 2 of us felt as if the staff were giving us dirty looks and talking about us which made the whole experience really unpleasent. Plus they refused to do one of us a small breakfast from the extras menu despite the reason for this being due to dietary requirements. They insisted we could only add on to an existing veggie breakfast. They refused to seperate the items for us and just dumped it all on one plate except for the bacon thank goodness. Never experienced anything quite like it. Don't expect to be accommodated if you have special requirements. Dont expect to be treated with respect if you have unusual requests. Most of all don't expect anything great food wise. Will not be going back here. Not worth the hassle or the mediocre food!

Fantastic service, great location and most importantly, excellent standard of sandwiches, scones and cakes. I (being the only coeliac) was extremely impressed by the gf fare. Sandwiches were moist, great quality bread, plenty of fillings (gf and non gf), and amazing, light, delicious homemade cakes! I've been to many places, including the Peninsula in Hong Kong for gf afternoon tea, for a pretty penny = v disappointing. Pickwicks delivered on every level. We were all extremely happy, would definitely return and highly recommend it. Thank you again, Jayne and team! V happy people. :) xx

Delicious food, all homemade. Friendly staff. Party of 11 catered for on the patio. Great value at under £200 for two courses a drink and tea/coffee. Added bonus they are part of the gov eat out in August scheme so we paid under £100.

Excellent service, fresh clotted cream tea (plain scones were perfect!) which we were prepared to sit outside in the drizzle as we had our dog with us! Friendly staff were more than happy to have us and the dog sit inside! Lovely!

Our choir enjoyed visiting Pickwicks. The home made scones were delicious and the staff were so friendly and efficient. Alan and Jayne planned our visit and made it so easy for our group even on a busy Saturday. We'd recommend it for groups.

I’m spoilt by Bristol’s ability to cater for everyone. If you don’t eat meat/animal products this place is below par. They have a veggie breakfast but the ‘sausages’ are just battered veg. I had scrambled eggs but a vegan would have had a very unsatisfactory meal. I hope smaller places around the UK start catching up with the times.

Four of us went in for a bit of lunch, as it appeared not to be part of a nationwide franchise and possibly independently owned it outwardly ticked all the boxes. We had a variety of sandwiches with differing ingredients plus hot drinks. We all agreed food was of a high quality served hot after our drinks. A family owned business with a good varied lunch time menu. Staff efficient and friendly. It was more expensive than other similar outlets I have been to but food quality made it good value.

Found this place at the bottom of the high street so we thought would give it a try, Lady who took our order was lovely (Think she might have been the manager/owner) we ordered 3 cooked breakfasts 2 big and 1 light breakfast and 3 hot drinks. The owner/manager shouted at one girl out the back saying can you come and make these drinks, the customers have been waiting ages, the girl come out on her phone then quickly putting it away. The girl started to make our drinks whilst talking to another member of staff, 20 minutes we waited for our drinks which is ridiculous. Breakfast followed 10 minutes later, breakfast was small 1 bacon and 1 sausage and mushrooms and a tiny pot of beans and half a slice of toast. However the quality of the food was of high standard apart from the bacon which was tasteless so I would say prices considering doesn’t include drinks are on the expensive side, but maybe Wells is a expensive place. Overall for £31 for a cooked breakfast and drinks and slow poor service would not return. Shame as place looks lovely and quality of food is good.

I was on the hunt for a Victoria sponge for my husband. This place came up trumps as it was also home page and 'today' fresh. Delicious. Ending up having tea & cake there as well as taking some home for hubby!

Called in and had a Lamb sausage roll, a Brie and bacon sandwich along with a cherry danish. Probably the best tasting combination of food that I have ever had from a bakery. Can’t wait to go back.

Taking into consideration its location, its staff, its cuisine, its ambiance, its clientele and not forgetting its log fire, The Strode Arms in the village of Cranmore is quite possibly the best place for miles around to go out to for a relaxed and enjoyable evening meal. Charming hostess, busy chef, imaginative and tastefully presented food and a splendid time being had by one and all.

By far the best fish and shop in Street. The young lady who serves is lovely and polite and the young lad is a good member of the staff. They remember what i order every time which is amazing service. Would recommend to everyone.
