The best restaurants serving British food in East Devon South West

Fabulous pub with great garden. We’ve been a couple of times for a drink and something to eat from one of the food trucks (they are not doing food from the kitchen yet!) pub looks great - everyone super friendly - what’s not to like !! Lovely Sunday roast good atmosphere and friendly efficient staff

This was our first visit to The Diggers Rest and certainly won't be our last! Really can't fault anything. We had a lovely warm welcome from the landlady and our table was all ready for us, even though we had arrived early. Great food, presented well and hot plates! Hubby had one of the specials, Beef Madras, and he hasn't stopped talking about it! Everyone was really friendly, and we enjoyed a bit of a laugh & joke with the landlady. Can't wait to return. Good luck to everyone at The Diggers Rest, you deserve to do well.

Crab sandwiches on the beach….loved it. Cash only…….unbelievable how many people clearly dont have enough change for a pot of tea in their pockets these days. Lovely location, everything done properly. Don’t hesitate to walk down. PS Look after his £50 note 🤣

Unfussy friendly traditional pub. Log fire in winter, terrace in summer. Hand drawn beer. Menu is basic but the food is good, and reasonably priced

Lovely location and a well kept village inn, but the welcome on a quiet weekday was a bit lukewarm and the light lunch- four small slices of cured salmon with nothing else - was underwhelming. For £9.50 it was overpriced.

Not open on Monday, disappointing as had been looking forward to lunch here, they really need to update opening hours 😫

The most gorgeous little place, and a welcome escape from a blustery day! Soup and toasties were epic, my daughter said the fluffy hot chocolate was the best she has had in her 7 years!!

We went here today for breakfast, I had the veggie breakfast and my husband had the Cosy breakfast. Both lovely, using quality ingredients, plentiful and cooked well. Staff are really nice too. Love it there. Also a little gift shop selling classy, reasonably priced items.

We returned here for the umpteenth year running for the first night of our holiday and will continue to do so as it doesn't disappoint. Our family group now includes two infants under 2, but this doesn't faze the staff who made all of us welcome as always. The Old Alley Restaurant is ideal for families/groups, being spacious and with easy access to facilities. All the meals were greatly enjoyed, as was the draft beer. They also make a great Irish coffee.

Lovely afternoon Devon cream tea! The Cherry Bakewell scone was probably one of the best I’ve ever had, and judging by my waistline, I’ve had a few! Lovely setting, sat in the outside terrace in a warm afternoon! Will definitely make the effort to come here again on a trip to the wet country!

We stumbled across this tea room during a visit on the Seaton Tram today. This place is a real find, the food is fantastic. Had homemade soup & my friend had Quiche Lorraine. Loved meeting Brioche and Trevor too. Please do support this local business, they deserve every success. Thank you and we will see you again soon.

As I'm on my own Often pop in for Sunday lunch ,,Always fits me in Very friendly and staff are lovely Food is great !! Always welcomes me and my little Chihuahua !!!!

Lovely looking building but currently not in use. Apparently the National Trust is having difficulty finding a tenant. Check before visiting.

Hidden gem tucked away off the high street. Smart place with fireplace ,friendly staff. Good selection of food and drinks.
