The Tasty Baguette in East Devon

What a gem of a place. Tucked away down a side street, but easy to find. Great service, extremely friendly staff and a superb selection of food. We had bacon baguettes, freshly made which we chose to eat on the prom. Very reasonably priced too. Thoroughly recommend and would visit here daily if I lived in Sidmouth!!!

Had a lovely sandwich made to order (crab) - perfect. My husband had a jacket, just as he liked it. Lovely atmosphere of welcome and we ate our lunch inside. Really enjoyed the food. Lovely range of products.

I always call in for one of their take-away salad bowls. So much choice, always fresh, and nicely served. Reasonably priced for a very tasty lunch.

Great find, a sandwich bar offering a delicious range of fillings and a good choice of salads on a variety of bread. Freshly prepared and reasonably priced. The crab was especially good - a generous helping served with salad on a granary bap. The staff were very accommodating to myself and my grandson, enabling him to collect his sandwich later. Will definitely return on our next visit to Sidmouth.

Where do I start. Not been here for a couple of years but this place is a must for great food at great prices. Husband had breakfast bap - 2 sausages, 2 bacon and fried egg in massive granary bap. All for £3.95!! I had prawn salad bap - absolutely loaded with prawns (wish I had taken a photo, you would not believe) and a bottle of soft drink to share. Total price around £11. This place deals in quality food, good customer service and fantastic prices. Such a shame they do not have the room for more indoor seating but it is what it is. Thank you, we will be back again very soon.

Visited for lunch had jacket potato with tuna mayo and it must have been a full tin! Friendly staff, lovely food, and such excellent value for money! £12 for 2 jackets with filling and salad and 2 teas. A nearby cafe wanted that for jacket and cheese!

This place is amazing for food and soft drinks and very welcoming staff also very polite the food is outstanding!!!

Popped in to a place that I’ve passed by on many an occasion. The food was excellent the service was excellent. And fantastic value for money too. I had a breakfast sandwich and was asked how I like my egg runny or hard not a big thing perhaps but I can’t think to when I was actually asked my preference on this issue which quite frankly can make or break a breakfast! The conversation with us and the other customers which we could hear was cheerful and helpful. I haven’t tried the coffee yet but I will be going back. It’s lovely atmosphere, a small cafe with a big character. Worth mentioning is that the cafe is small but it was wheelchair. friendly.

Unfortunately, shop brought ingredients. Not fresh, homemade. Ie, coleslaw, potato salad, and chicken is obviously brought in and not like roasted chicken at all. We are all quite unimpressed with our salads/baguettes. We shall not be returning. Do not recommend from our experience.

Discovered this lovely place whilst on holiday in and around Sidmouth. Wouldn't go any where else whilst here. The sandwiches were delicious as were the cakes. The staff were really lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Can only say try them, you won't want to go anywhere else.

Amazing baguette and friendly team. tucked away in a side path in the town centre just 5 mins from the beach. A few seats outside which was nice after a 10 mile walk. Many thanks

Tucked down a small lane. Lovely full sandwiches and baguettes. Have to arrive early or they sell out quite fast. Two small tables outside, but the beach is a stones throw away....watch out for the greedy seagulls. The only reason i am giving 4 starts instead of 5 is the choice for veggie and vegans is very limited, which is a real shame. There are a lot of sandwich filling for veggies that are easy and quick, i hope they add some to their choice soon, as we will then visit a lot more often

The staff were very friendly and polite. They were also telling us what we could do in the surrounding area. The food was very tasty and delicious. It was very reasonably priced as well. We’d come back again if we were in the location again. Thank you tasty baguette staff! 😁

Breakfast baguette was lovely. But the apple and almond slice was AMAZING!!! Definitely be back for more.

Stumbled across this little gem looking for a takeout lunch. We ordered two Brie and cranberry baguettes and a sandwich for our granddaughter. Really soft bread and lovely fresh filling. Sandwich for our toddler was cut into quarters and popped on a paper plate. Felt real care went into the preparation and so friendly. Oh and delicious apple cake too! Will definitely return.

Great fresh salad and fillings to have on your choice of fresh bread, baps or baguettes. Well filled and plenty of choice all frshly made to your preference. Nice friendly staff and a couple of tables to sit outside if you prefer, but seafront only a minute away.

Excellent baguettes and sandwiches, generously filled. Lots of choice. All made to order with fresh ingredients. I can highly recommend the coronation chicken.

Visited The Tasty Baguette for the first time on Saturday 26th June, and myself and my family would like to say they are very welcoming and friendly. We had our two dogs with us and l asked for a portion of chicken for them, the gentlemen also asked me if l would like sausages for them which was a very kind gesture l thought. We all had wraps and they were very fresh, tasty and definitely worth the money. Will definitely visit there again.

Attitude towards us was disgusting. I have severe copd and unable to wear a mask. We were told to get out of the shop and only be served standing in the street like some second class citizen!

Keep your eyes open for this one it is well worth a try, fantastic choice of filling for sandwiches, rolls baguettes etc, really good value lovely well filled crab rolls for £5.50 but plenty of other choices also, scrupulously clean and very pleasant staff and a good cuppa lovely what’s not to like.

My husband and I came across this little gem whilst exploring Sidmouth. We took one of the tables outside and our orders taken promptly. We both ordered bacon Brie and cranberry panini. Asked and was given a small side salad which wasn’t on the menu. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and even sorted a taxi price back to ladram bay with the taxi at the rank which took the worry of how we were going to get back having walked in on the coastal walk. Very popular and busy little cafe and reasonable price with 2 large coffees £12 for both of us.

This is a small little cafe, but the food they serve it's fantastic. Visited recently for lunch the day was rainy, chose a prawn baguette withe salad. Baguette well filled and very tasty and well worth the money paid. Sat outside the cafe were there are 3 sets of table and chairs while there I noticed a constant flow of people ordering food all looking satisfied with their purchases. I highly recommend this place for it's food and the quality of it, the staff were all very well versed in the preperation prosess, will definetly be visiting them again and again.

There is often a queue outside as rolls ( or salads)are freshly prepared - good choice of fillings and types of bread. Definitely a good take away.

I had a chicken tikka baguette and it was very good. Friends have the salads and they rate them too.

Arrived just before they were ready to close so not a great deal of choice, but what we had was scrummy.

The 2 ladies are very efficient, nice and helpful. They churn out good salads and a sandwiches with very fresh and tasty ingredients. Perfect for a quick break on the go.

A good choice of fillings and soft baguettes which don't break your teeth. Generous amounts and wrapped well. Also crisps and drinks available. Friendly staff and reasonably priced food.

I am not sure how they balance profit with food served.You need two hands to carry away the baguettes, salad pots etc.Generous and tasty stuff.I note older reviewers have criticised the price of crab sarnies, you get what you pay for! And although those are a tad more pricey, there is a reason. It’s a more expensive ingredient. A bit of shell means it’s locally sourced and not mush from a factory.If you want to sit on the seafront stuffing your face with lovely scran this is the place to get it.In the winter sit inside and listen to locals nattering about banal gossip. The fact local people do this reflects on the high regard the shop has.

Tasty, generous fiilings, perfect to take away to enjoy on the seafront.Good choice of breads to suit all.

Sidmouth folkweek, very busy time, but I could guarantee getting a large salad pot, with meat filling at a great price. That did lunch and evening snack for me. Staff friendly despite the constancy of customers inconsistent requirements. See you next year..

We've been visiting Sidmouth for quite some time and we always head for The Tasty Baguette. A great menu and selection of fresh ingredients. We've never been disappointed. Great value for money.

We called in for a Lunchtime snack and were warmly greeted by the staff. I had a dressed crab baguette and my wife had a Ham/Cheese/Tomato Panini. The crab was delicious and plenty of it and my wife said the toasted panini was the best she had ever had at around £8 in total this was excellent value. Please try it you wont be disappointed

A terrific selection of fresh food which you can individually select and even a huge choice of types baguettes and wraps. Highly recommended for a sit in or take out lunch when you are in Sidmouth

Had coffee twice here and while the first cappuccino was fine I asked for an extra shot the next time and the waitress said that will be like a flat white, which was what I wanted but was not listed. So suggest they list it. Really nice little coffee shop with homemade scones etc.

Looking for somewhere for a quick snack and to park the dog, the few tables outside the restaurant are just perfect. The sandwiches and salads are freshly prepared to high hygiene standards. The staff are polite and very accommodating. Walking the dog,want a good sandwich then coffee or tea this place fits the bill.

A wide selection of salads and meats etc are available for the staff to prepare your salad to take away. Vert generous portions and good value. Nice and simple.

This cafe is right in the centre of Sidmouth. The staff are friendly; it serves very good food and drink, which is very reasonably priced. Everything is cooked to order, so it is not super-quick, but a large number of people seemed prepared to wait. If you can, and the weather is kind, grab one of the tables outside, and just watch the parade of really well behaved dogs, every other person in Sidmouth seems to own one.

Breakfast roll £3.50!! Two young girls served me without fault. Thank you both. Partner had cheese salad.

Baguettes, baps and salads are their speciality. Have been here quite a few times and the bread is always fresh. Interesting choice of fillings. My friends have the salads which they enjoy.

Y a mis 97 años ex Hotel poseer madre haciendo nuestra prueba en lugares para comer en Devon. Tropezamos con este café calle lateral con espacios de estar muy limitado ya que la mayoría de la gente comprar y llevar.

Compré un panecillo de cangrejo y cuestionaron la asistente de tienda sobre el cangrejo significa abundante y ella respondió que yo pueda tener un costo extra en más!

If you are looking for a yummy baguette or panini for a quick lunch, then do search this out. It's good value and has plenty of choice.

I know they may not be what many would call butties but I thought it was a catchy title. Always make a point of getting at least one sandwich from here whenever we visit Sidmouth.

We often visit sidmouth sometimes just for the day always our first stop for a breakfast roll never disappointed although the previous owners did pop out with some treats for our two labs the new ones don't. Friendly staff

Visited today around 12.45pm - ordered a beef and onion baguette - sold out of baguettes, sold out of baps, had this a a sandwich. Very thin white bread, superb beef (as you would expect as from the local award-winning butchers), and only about 4 little strands of onion - at £2.80, very poor value.

The hot baguettes and baps we had for lunch were all very good. Great choice of fillings and next time I will be trying the salad boxes as the one I saw being prepared was looking good.

We always go here for a takeaway baguette while in Sidmouth. All made while you wait and you choose fillings. Very fresh bread and lovely ham or beef.

I am disabled & choose to make a 4 mile Tricycle round trip with The Tasty Baguette as my half way destination, at the moment, every other day or so. I have travelled extensively and the food the Tasty Baguette produce is fresh, generous & delicious. I would highly recommend seeking them out & sampling one of the best eateries in one of the best towns in the UK.

Went with a friend for lunch. Very good variety of food. Jacket Potatoes, Baguettes & Sandwiches, Very good variety of fillings. We both ordered a salad, lovely & fresh, good size portion. Very friendly & helpful staff.

I know this is a sandwich bar and they might not serve gluten free bread but I noticed the same gloves were used to handle everything from jacket potatoes to pasta/ salad. I pointed this out and they did replace the gloves but my husband observed that the same gloves were also used to handle money- whats the point??

Always busy during folkweek for lunch but food is good prices and good quality with lots of choices of generous fillings - which I assume are the same all year round! Staff are friendly and efficient especially given how busy they get. Always visit every year when at the festival, so will see you next year!

Been here last year on holiday.As many reviews have said your food is made up whilst you wait. The choice of fillings is extensive and the wrap had plenty of filling.Good price so it's popular. It's such a small place you end up queuing out of the door when it's lunch time. A couple of tables inside and out but you would end up having people queue around you.Good food would eat here again.

Found this tiny little sandwich bar by chance and sat outside. The choice of fillings are based around local sea food - all sandwiches and baguettes are made in front of you, so easy to leave out what you don't like and ask for more of what you do. The staff are fantastic, more than willing to help, and the prices are very reasonable - all of the food is fresh and tasty. As this place is down a narrow lane, it is (almost) gull free, so fairly safe to eat outside!!

Been there many times for the breakfast bap, lushous! Sandwiches & salads are very good as well, There are a few tables inside & a few outside. The owners & staff are very friendly and always seem happy. It's also a place to buy some tickets for shows, check the front windows to see what they're advertising.

I have been here several times I look forward to getting my lunch from these guys I have never had a bad baguette really recommend the prawns always great

Monday 14th around lunchtime we were in Sidmouth and we stumbled across here. Took us a while to decide what to order as there was such a choice.In the end settled for a sausage bap with brown sauce, £2.80 and a prawn sandwich and some salad, it was stuffed with filling, £3.00 and 2 lattes £1.80 each. The total cost of our lunch was £8.40, great value, considering some places in Sidmouth were charging £7 - £8 for just a sandwich.Good food, reasonably priced, very clean and friendly staff - greatThere is seating area both inside and out.We will certainly be back

This is a lovely little eatery. Very good value and good portions. It is a very small place with only two tables inside and three out so when busy can be a bit cramped. Often queues particularly at lunchtime. Very helpful and friendly staff and well worth a visit. I often buy and eat on the beach or take it home.

Little place off the main street, popular choice with many people so busy at peak times.Choice of wraps, sandwich, baguettes and rolls with your own filling and salad. We had a chicken salad wrap, prawn wrap, a bottle of coke and two packets of crisps and it came to just over £8. The wraps were crammed full of filling, excellent value.You can sit in, although the place is small so best to take out and sit on the seafront if it's nice.

Seems a very popular place to get a sandwich or baguette, and is easy to see why as made to order and good quality.

I've been working in Sidmouth for a while and regularly use this little gem for my lunch. I believe I'm the only person who orders a ham and beetroot roll though!!Their cakes are good too, particularly the rocky road. Burts crisps are available too.

Freshly made rolls and salads made to order, lots of different fillings and most of all the most hilarious couple that own it always make you feel welcome, I can't find any reasons you wouldn't eat from here and in the summer go get a fresh roll and sit on the lovely beach and enjoy!!

Went in to get a roll for lunch and the selection was very good, Sandwiches, jacket potatoes, bagettes, rolls and salad bowls a lot of choice for all with a good selection of salad. A little room to eat in but mostly takeaway. Really good value and generous portions of salad, meat and prawns. Will go in again.

Stopped off for a late lunch. Ate in, a crab salad for both. Such fantastic variety of fresh salads and topped with a really tasty large portion of crab. All served with a smile. Staff could not be more friendly. Tremendous value did not eat again that day. Cannot recommend enough

I enjoyed really much the fresh food sold there. The best takeaway in the city and also the cheapest one. I strongly suggest the baguette with chicken. I will come back to this place. Good luck!!!

Surprisingly well stuffed rolls and baguettes, ideal for carrying the few yards to the sea front and tormenting seagulls by eating it all yourself. Good value and lots of different stuff to have in them.

Great takeaway food, lovely fresh ingredients and honest prices. Close to the prom - Would highly recommend it
