What a find 💜 Totally random choice of eatery on route from Bristol to Brixham. Family if 5 adults all very satisfied. comments: best chips ever, excellent fresh veg with pie, all of it superb. I had fillet sole which was excellent, very reasonably priced. Can host small or large groups. Lots of GF options. Will be saving location for when we’re next in the area.

We have been meaning to visit for a while as I have heard nothing but good things and I wished I had made the effort sooner! The food was amazing. Great choice on the menu and reasonably priced. I don’t usually go for pudding as too I am always too full but after watching them come out, I couldn’t resist. I had the Eton Mess Sunday and it was so good! The staff are great too, friendly and really efficient too despite being busy. Definitely will be visiting again. Visit here if you can.

We had a lovely meal here last night, during a weekend in Devon. The staff were great - just attentive enough without being overly so. I had the chicken with blue cheese sauce, which was absolutely delicious, and my husband had a burger, which he said was amazing. And his chips were fabulous - I did try a cheeky one. We had ice cream for pudding as we were too full for a proper pudding, but the ones that were walked past our table on the way to other people looked so good - I wish I'd had room for a sticky toffee pudding. Would definitely recommend. The chef definitely knows what he's doing - just very well cooked, decent food, at very reasonable prices.

Wow! What a great find! Absolutely exceptional food served, (we had sole with crayfish tails and liver one night, then spaghetti bolognaise and ham and chips the next night), friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere. Dog friendly. We enjoyed it so much, we returned the following evening. Great choice on the menu at superb prices, faultless! The owners have done a fantastic job at mixing the traditional pub with the modern and sympathetic renovations. I'd highly recommend the pub and give it the 5 stars it very much deserves. Well done to the owners and the team, we will return.

Fantastic pub. We have been here for their Friday Breakfast and this time the Sunday lunch. We booked in advance as we aren’t from the area and staying locally and booked a table in the corner for our nervous dog. Fantastic food, attentive and friendly staff, my wife’s gluten free dietary needs catered for, we were able to order sausages from the dog menu and it looks like bar and toilets have had a make over. Absolutely loved the Brownie and Eton Mess Sundae’s. 😋 We will be back.

We were made to feel really welcome, sat at a corner table as requested with plenty of room for our nervous dog. Food was delicious, plenty of it and well presented. Being gluten free it was great to hear that most dishes could be made without gluten and they even did sausages for dogs! We also both had dessert too. We are a family of 14 who were staying locally over New Year We ended up having 2 meals here. The forstvwas precooked for New Years Eve and the 2nd was on our last day and called up that morning Both meals were excellent News Years Eve was very bust but the service was excellent and the food was too. Great selection all well cooked and a nice kids menu. They even put together a cheese baord for us even though it wasn't on the menu which was great. Second visit was 7 of us on our last day and again the food was excellent. A particular highlight was the steak really well cooked and very good. I would definitely recommend here but would advise to book as although the pub is quite big it is very popular

The food at The Sidmouth Arms is a cut above pub food, especially the dinner selections. We were staying for a week nearby and hadn't booked, so had bar snacks for our first meal there, which were so tasty we decided to book dinner. Loved this pub. It was a big group of 12. We had the roast. I'm gluten free and they said they could do anything gluten free. Music to my ears. I went for a roast and I got Yorkshire with it. I've never come across a place that does them. The only downside for me and it's only because of preference, is that there was too much pepper, herbs or something on it and kept making my tongue itch and it was a bit spicy (I'm not allergic)

We booked this venue for our allotment annul dinner. Sixteen of us sat down to a meal that was faultless, served at the time agreed, the quality of each dish was excellent. The meats served in the main dishes was cooked to perfection, being allotmentiers we are a picky bunch about our vegetables, but again all served to perfection. The waiting staff were on the ball making sure we all had what we pre-ordered along with Martin, the landlord, checking that we were all happy. First time visiting the Sidmouth Arms. I was looking for somewhere half way between Weymouth and Exeter and the reviews for the Sidmouth Arms (Honiton ) made it a no brainer. The pub was busy (as you would expect on a Sunday in December) so we had to park on the road however we received a warm welcome on entering and asked if we wanted to go directly to our table or have a drink in the new bar area. Service was friendly and attentive but with no feeling of being rushed. We had pre- ordered and the food was served promptly. The turkey was moist, the pork a hit with my husband and the baked celeriac with wild mushroom and orzo risotto made a delicious change from nut roast or veg wellington. Desserts were also delicious and homemade mince pies to finish the meal was a lovely touch. With 2 drinks each (mix of alcoholic and non alcoholic) the bill was £33 per person + tip which was very reasonable for the quality and amount of food and drink we consumed Highly recommend

After many times visiting the Sidmouth Arms and having a pretty positive option of the place, I have to say what a shame its now been turned into a cattle market for food. The recent overhaul of the interior is horrendous as the old charm that was there has now gone, with plain rooms of many tables and a new bar that looks like the reception of a huge corporate Hotel/Airport. The whole place feels like a large family and children café refer than an old village pub. Sunday menu is only limited to roast dinners or fish and chips that are pretty poor. Not a place to go for a nice atmospheric print anymore. Positives are the food is still reasonably cheap and mostly tasty and its always open for business and food and the garden is very present place in the summer.

My partner and I visited The Sidmouth Arms tonight, and boy were we not disappointed!! Fantastic pub, hidden away in a small village, but the pub is bustling with people. It's very well staffed and organised. The staff are quick and attentive. The food, well......absolutely amazing. So tasty and freshly cooked, they cater for GF and Vegetarians alike. The best bit nothing is overpriced. It's all very affordable. Cannot fault this place at all. If you decide to go you must book early because although they have a good car park, this fills up fast, and you'll find it hard to park unless you park alongside the road. We had 2 starters and 2 mains, 2 double whiskeys, 1 pint of thatchers and 1 pint of coke, and it came to £70. You must try this place It's highly recommended and our new favourite place to eat.

We went to the Sidmouth Arms with friends for lunch, and it’s difficult to fault! The food was excellent and the service superb! Ruby looked after us brilliantly - she was cheerful, friendly and efficient and had the right amount of banter without being intrusive. When we were there, there were major renovations taking place but they didn’t impact us at all but, if I was being hyper-critical, the dining room is somewhat stark and lacking in character, unlike the bar area which is more cosy. That didn’t detract from our meal though and we’d thoroughly recommend the Sidmouth Arms!

We holiday with our dogs in Devon/Somerset on a regular basis, and are always looking for dog friendly pubs that do great food. We stay in the Marsh area, and don’t like to have to travel too far from there. Having read the reviews, we decided to try The Sidmouth Arms, and are so glad we did. The pub has the feel of a traditional country pub, and there were obviously locals there having a pint, which is so nice in this day and age. So many pubs these days put too much emphasis on the food, and won’t even let you sit down if you don’t buy a meal! So my Hubby and I felt relaxed and at home. As for the food, I had the tagliatelle which came with delicious warm focaccia. My Hubby had the liver, which he said was delicious and succulent. We will definitely return when we are next in Devon.

Our cream teas were a disappointment. Of the four key elements, the tea and cream were good. The single fruit scone was fine but had chewy, overcooked fruit on the outside and none inside—perhaps the fruit was pressed in before baking. The jam was gluey, lacked discernible fruit, and was difficult to spread. At £9.50 per cream tea (£19 for two), the price felt very steep—especially as it wasn’t displayed on menus, boards, or signage. Transparency around pricing matters, and the much lower prices still shown on Google appear out of date. The café advertises its “award-winning” cream teas, but there are no details online about what the awards are or when they were given. I rarely leave critical reviews, but when something this simple is priced at a premium, it should be spot on. I hope the café takes this as constructive feedback.
