What a lovely little cafe, we visited on a Sunday & we weren’t disappointed to learn that it was Roast lunches only being served. We were greeted by the friendliest waitress. We had the most amazing roast dinner. It was huge. The only disappointment was we were too full to try the homemade cakes for pudding.

Lovely little gem of a tea room. We stopped for a cream tea and were not disappointed, light warm scones with plenty of jam and clotted cream plus a pot of tea and so reasonably priced. Fantastic service, very friendly and helpful. If you're in Honiton it's a must.

Visited for lunch. Firstly I agree totally with another Reviewer that there was absolutely no signs of conforming to Covid regulations. Not one member of staff was wearing a mask..no checking in or indeed noticeable wiping tables in between customers. Very long wait for our sandwiches.. which came as huge doorsteps.. and not very tasty fillings...also we felt they were rather expensive for this sort of a erage cafe. On walking back to the car park..we found other really pretty and interesting places to eat and more reasonably priced. Will not return.

We chose this cafe because it was highly rated and we were looking for somewhere to have breakfast whilst travelling. The full English breakfast was very tasty and staff were friendly. But we were very disappointed that the cafe was not complying with the usual COVID safety measures. None of the staff were wearing face masks and the tables were not being properly cleaned between customers. We were not asked for our details and we couldn’t see a QR code poster. We finished our breakfast quickly and left and we hope that after this review this cafe takes COVID more seriously!

Found this cafe on our return trip from Devon. Covid safe we were seated at a table and given the menus. An overwhelming agreement that the bubble and squeak was the breakfast choice. Extremely tasty, freshly prepared and cooked. It was delicious. We would have looked at the cakes but the breakfast was sufficient for the rest of the day. Staff were very friendly and appreciated out comments. Dog friendly

Stumbled over the Lacemakers cafe when looking for a coffee. As we entered, the lady was very friendly and it was Covid secure. We are seated and when we looked at the menu's the breakfast jumped out at us. We really enjoyed the freshly cooked full plates we received. All local produce with the suppliers listed for you to see exactly where the products came from. The home made cakes looked good but we were so full from our breakfast, it will give us an excuse to return once they are able to reopen. Would recommend and will be visiting again.

During lockdown we ordered home delivery a few times and the food was superb, today we finally went in and had cream teas and ice creams with the kids, from the second we stepped in we were made to feel welcome by the friendly staff, they couldn't do enough for us and nothing was too much trouble, which is a godsend when you have with you hyper 3 and 6 year old kids. Delicious home made, crumbly and warm scones with plenty of cream and jam to go around. Will definitely be going back, we only live around the corner and its so often too easy to just go to Costa or Coffee #1 but if you look around you can find little gems like this.

Sadly my experience included mouldy food (overly soft grapes and less than fresh salad). I felt also that the Lyme bay crab was ruined by being mixed (the white and the brown) into a sort of paste before being sparingly spread in my chunky sandwich. Disappointing.

A disappointing subsequent visit. We all had the Lyme Bay Crab larder board. The crab and bread were lovely but the salad had brown edges, the tomatoes limp, the grapes were partially rotting: but the 'pièce de résistance' was slices of apple which still had the label (neatly sliced!) on them! Goodness knows whether the apple had been washed.

My friend said hers was very chewy ham but the chips were lovely . We also had pudding I had bread and butter pudding which was lush she had cake also lush . Despite my meal lacking flavour I would return but maybe sarnies next time . There is also a small garden to sit outside . The loo needs some updating though .

After seeing such glowing reviews for this cafe we thought that we would have a breakfast there on our visit to Devon last week. We found that the staff were very pleasant and the breakfast was good. The only other comment I would give is that once the plates were put on the table it was not easy to move them. My mobile was also stuck fast to the table. Everything was clean so I presume that it was the cleaning spray that had been used again and again causing a sticky build up. Probably a little soap and water occasionally on the tables would sort this problem out. Having said that, this little cafe is still well worth a visit.

We looked through the front window and thought "How Quaint". There was also a seafood platter advertised on the board outside which caught our attention. On entering the cafe, it took a few minutes before somebody came to seat us. I believe it was the owner Ray. He seated us and at this point the cafe was pleasant and noise level low.Ray took our order and even returned to ask what kind of bread we wanted with our meal. Then came a group of five men into the restaurant and, without so much as a by your leave, proceeded to move empty table around and in doing so, encroaching on our space. They were very loud and "pushy".This was the only issue we had as the food was of an acceptable quality. The scampi and white bait was out of the freezer but was "O.K" the portions were good and the salad fresh. The coleslaw tasted good and so as far as the food was concerned, it was fine.It was just the manner in which the restaurant allowed these men to move tables around willy nilly and not even an excuse me from anybody. Yes, I would return but there are so many Bistros, Cafes and restaurants close by so it would be a while!

Went here for the first time with my Dad. I had the English Breakfast and my Dad had scrambled egg on toast and each of us had added bubble & squeak with a large Cappuccino each. It was a lovely breakfast although the bubble and squeak was a total waste as it's just a thin wafer that you wouldn't even notice. Other than that it was lovely and will definitely go back. Total came to just over £19

I was driving to Plymouth and stopped in Honiton for lunch as it was convenient to my route.I found the Lacemaker Cafe and I'm very pleased I did.Ordered ploughmans and coffee which wasn't the cheapest but I don't mind paying that little extra for quality. The staff are attentive and polite. A definite stop on future journeys.

Not the most impressive interior, but the welcome, service and quality of food were excellent. Fresh Lyme Bay crab when we visited. Delicious.

We went for a Sunday roast which was very delicious. The meat had a fantastic flavour and was told it's sourced locally. The roast potatoes were mouth wateringly delicious. The desserts were very tasty and homemade. I wil definitely go again because they have a large cake selection. The service was great with the staff making sure everything was fine. Very friendly as well. The place is nice and homely with a relaxed atmosphere. All in all, excellent!!
