The best restaurants serving British food in East Devon South West

Haven’t been into this fish and chip shop for a long time but was always good in the past so thought I’d stop by to pick up fish and chips for myself and my partner to share .Having ordered I was very taken aback at the price of £20.40 for a large cod and chips and a curry sauce and even more shocked when I opened the wrappings to find a piece of cod that would barely pass for a medium let alone a large,it was so greasy and the batter over cooked I felt really ripped off and definitely won’t be going back !!! EVER!!

If you want a mouldy room which is in a state of disrepair then this is it. Absolutely disgusting for the amount of money I paid to stay here, toilet had a leak which had mould all round the floor area, the bath/shower had mould on the walls, the skirting boards had all cracks and was in a bad state of disrepair, a hole in the back of the bathroom door, an alarm kept going off around 05:30am on sunday/Monday morning, only person to complain to was a duty manager from greggs who look after the rooms apparently. Absolutely fuming, and I still had no response from the owner in regards to this matter so have seeked legal advice. BE WARNED DONT STAY HERE

Lovely fish & chips (& sausage & chips). Cooked to order, fresh, hot and plenty of it! Place (plaice🤔) was clean and chap on the counter was nice and friendly Will definitely pop in again : )

Hey this place is what it is. Yes it needs some tlc but in fairness the food is reasonably priced and actually very good . The staff are friendly and attentive and I would definitely go back

Hot chocolates were absolutely appalling. Possibly the worst I have and service was very poor too, rude and abrupt. Not a good experience at all

Good atmosphere good food much enjoyed only downside is the outside buildings could do with a refresh. Staff were friendly.

Staying at Harbour Hotel booked evening meal we had the crusty bread and olive oil as a starter it was lovely bread was hot and tasted divine , main courses fish and chips with crushed peas the fish was so big it was over the edge of the plate both sides , batter was light and fish flaky , for dessert we had the ice cream which was delicious . Service was relaxed but professional so overall a great meal well done all.👌

Stumbled upon this lovely little pub, just off the High Street in Budleigh Salterton. Could not have wished for a warmer welcome from the Landlord and Landlady. Great little place!

It’s not temporarily closed Anymore under new management and let me tell you the food is 5* I can’t believe what we got for £41 the biggest most flavoursome meal I have ever ever eaten . We had the roast banquet with 2 drinks it could have easily fed 4 god knows how 2 of us eaten mind you I’m pregnant and husband was very hung over and our baby / 12 month old shared with us I have honestly never eaten anything that good in my life x

We make a point of visiting this lovely little café every time we come to Sidmouth . The staff are all lovely - polite and friendly and we always get a particularly warm welcome from the manager, Pan Su. She’s always so cheerful and helpful, nothing seems to be too much trouble for her !! There is always a good selection of hot food to eat in the spacious restaurant area and a good selection of take away pasties and pastries, which we love to get in the summer and take down to the beach just two minutes away. Well worth a visit if you’re in Sidmouth !!

Popped in as in area for Sunday lunch. Full roast x2 for £18. Now you may think I bet that was awful. Well it was very good. Hot and tasty. Had a lunch in South East at good restaurant last weekend which was nowhere near as good as this. Thanks. Got to give credit when due. Big portions for price as well. Sat on terrace with great view 👍👍

I have been using this chip shop for some time but have noticed the standards drop both in food and service. On Thursday 8th August I ordered fish and chips (x2) and paid £10 cash. I was told it would be 10 mins so I popped next door to the Arms for a drink and when I returned 20 mins later the guy behind the counter (I have not seen him before)said he had forgotten to cook my food!?! Rather than wait I just asked for my money back and he said abruptly “we don’t do refunds” ... after another request he just turned out his pocket and promptly slammed my £10 on the counter and said “don’t ever come back” ! To say I was gonna smacked was an understatement ... as if I was ever going back ! I can only imagine he is the new owner (good luck) as the previous guy was very friendly ... I would avoid this place like the plague ... apparently I’m not the only one with a bad experience ...
