I was having a kitchen renovation at home, so I had no facilities to make a Sunday meal. I knew the Courtyard offered takeaway roasts, so that’s what I did. It was still very hot when I got it home. There was plenty of it, with a number of different vegetables and a big pot of the most delicious meat gravy. Outstanding. Absolutely highly recommended!! 😋

We visited the Devoncourt Brasserie on Sunday 27 oct for the carvery. There was 16 of us 8 Adults and 8 children the greeting was warm and very friendly the food the carvery was one of the best I’ve ever had the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. We wouldn’t hesitate to revisit the next time we are in Exmouth. G. Powlson and Family.

Party of 6 of us went to Winslade to celebrate my friends birthday, first off I must say we had a great evening. Few little things my starter of poached egg on black pudding was very nice.. it did have bacon on the top which was not mentioned, my wife had the squid with aoili which was very much like butter (maybe that's there take on it), my fish coarse of sea bass was delicious, mains I had Duck with honey & 5 spice sauce..cooked perfectly, I ordered a side of potatoes rosti which arrived they were very similar to chunky chips, luke warm and very crunchy with a drizzle of truffle mayo (I should of sent them back, big didn't my bad) , wifey had the salmon fishcake topped with a soft boiled egg which she thoroughly enjoyed, one of our party had plaice which he loved, two others had the chicken breast which was good. The desserts were beautiful. I feel the dinning room lacks a bit of atmosphere in my opinion, in saying that the interior is very tasteful, the service was good, to sum up lots of good positive points but a few not so good which is why I gave the experience 4 instead of 5 stars.

After many times visiting the Sidmouth Arms and having a pretty positive option of the place, I have to say what a shame its now been turned into a cattle market for food. The recent overhaul of the interior is horrendous as the old charm that was there has now gone, with plain rooms of many tables and a new bar that looks like the reception of a huge corporate Hotel/Airport. The whole place feels like a large family and children café refer than an old village pub. Sunday menu is only limited to roast dinners or fish and chips that are pretty poor. Not a place to go for a nice atmospheric print anymore. Positives are the food is still reasonably cheap and mostly tasty and its always open for business and food and the garden is very present place in the summer.

Looking for a light bite and found this gem in the gardens. As soon as it was spotted on the menu, the 3 of us ordered the fish finger sandwiches for nostalgic reasons, the staff said the there would be a wait for them. The wait was worth it and the sandwiches didn't disappoint, huge flaky fish fingers on a choice of bread served with tartar sauce. I also had a can of their refreshing cider. Look forward to returning in a few months.
