Today, Saturday 12th. October 2024, we decided to try this cafe, having been there once before. We sat in the garden for about 30 minutes, during which time, 3 waitresses passed us by without acknowledging us, then 5 waitresses served the table near us, and then another 2 waitresses passed us and Not one asked if we ready to order. We decided we had, had enough and walked out and up to Cafe # 1, went to the counter, picked what we wanted, paid for it and sat down for it to be brought to us in under 10 minutes. We shall not be returning to this place again, also too pricey.

Came here for breakfast and had never been before. We both ordered the full english breakfast. Most of the ingredients were lovely and fresh, however we both had 2 poached eggs and they were not hot or runny so I can only assume that they had been sat out for a while before they had got to our table. The bread wasn't the freshest and despite the menu stating 'buttered toast', it did not taste at all like real butter. The prices are very expensive for what you get. We definitely expected more but despite the issues, we did enjoy it.

We were in the Honiton area for a few days with our dogs. On the way back from a trip out, we wanted somewhere local that allowed dogs, and Toast fitted the bill. In the end, we visited twice, as the food and service were so good. Both times, we sat in the covered garden, which was lovely. Perfect eggs on toast, amazing bacon, tasty cheese and chutney sandwich with lovely fresh bread. Whenever we are back in Honiton, we will return.

With my 89 father we entered the cafe, sat down , only to be told that we had to leave because of our dog. Toast advertised that it was dog friendly but turns out this is just in the garden. Left disgruntled and went to cafe #1 instead. I pointed out they had no notice that dogs were not were welcome.

Popped in here for a quick brunch for the first time in 4 years. The last time we were here, it was still covid times, and they managed that impressively. Today, we received a warm welcome and were offered a choice of seating areas. Nice choice of sandwiches, breakfasts, and brunches. Nothing was too much trouble. Gluten-free....no problem. Lovely GF bread used for the sandwiches. We fully intend to call in to 'Toast' more often.

We visited for breakfast. It was superb! This lovely cafe serves wonderful breakfasts. I had the half full English, this was one bacon, one sausage, one egg, baked beans, hash brown, half a tomato, mushrooms and toast. The whole breakfast was two of everything. My husband had mushrooms on toast, again it was amazing. The mushrooms were so tasty and the plate was full. The cappuccino I had was perfect. They serve all kinds of meals, but we visited early and wanted breakfast. We were passing through Honiton, but if I lived anywhere nearby I would be a regular.

Popped in for breakfast, but shan’t be returning. My husband and I both ordered the avocado on toast, which normally comes with poached egg. I asked the waitress if I could swap mine for fried, she raised her eyebrows and I asked if that was ok. She said sure. We were sat near to the kitchen so could hear the conversations. The waitress reported that one was normal, the other with fried egg, to which she got a disgruntled reply of ‘fried?’ After a short time, our order was placed on the side ready to be delivered to our table. The waitresses commented that the plate looked nice with fried egg, but it wasn’t very healthy compared to poached. I understand this may seem small, however left me feeling a little self conscious about the food I had ordered when I was hoping to have a bit of a treat for a change. When the food came to our table, it looked nice however the bread it was served on was rather impossible to cut so we ended up leaving some of it.

Driving through the high street this place cought our eyes. Too or surprise, also a recommendation from a friend. You can park on the streets for an hour free. We wished we had more time, as the menu was extensive. It can get crowded inside, but, as we found out, a lovely back garden with tables and lots of flowers are also a delight to be seated by. The brunch plates came in fast and tasted delicious. It is clean and comfortable inside. Greeted by friendly girls proud of their coffee shop. It makes a huge difference to the great service you get. If you are vegetarian this place is for you. Lots of options in the menu. The croissant with cranberry and cheese (toasted) was my favorite.

So Toast is a lovely place for food and refreshments and always has been ,no complaints there , however there has been a few occasions I’ve witnessed a woman in her perhaps late 50’s with dark curly hair has a mannerism or mannerisms that are quite rude towards customers. Today was no exception as a frail old lady got confused about her stamp for her coffee card and instead the serving woman showed no compassion and went on to belittle the old lady in front of her also very old freind and myself and partner. After many loyal years of visiting I sadly will no longer ,very off putting experience.

Party of 6 of us went to Winslade to celebrate my friends birthday, first off I must say we had a great evening. Few little things my starter of poached egg on black pudding was very nice.. it did have bacon on the top which was not mentioned, my wife had the squid with aoili which was very much like butter (maybe that's there take on it), my fish coarse of sea bass was delicious, mains I had Duck with honey & 5 spice sauce..cooked perfectly, I ordered a side of potatoes rosti which arrived they were very similar to chunky chips, luke warm and very crunchy with a drizzle of truffle mayo (I should of sent them back, big didn't my bad) , wifey had the salmon fishcake topped with a soft boiled egg which she thoroughly enjoyed, one of our party had plaice which he loved, two others had the chicken breast which was good. The desserts were beautiful. I feel the dinning room lacks a bit of atmosphere in my opinion, in saying that the interior is very tasteful, the service was good, to sum up lots of good positive points but a few not so good which is why I gave the experience 4 instead of 5 stars.
