Huge disappointment. Be warned! What is on offer is nothing like what is shown on website. Had to wait three quarters on an hour and then had to prompt for menu. Young staff very pleasant but untrained for restaurant work. Had to ask for condiments and table water. Had three different mains and all equally mediocre. Would not recommend. Very different from the divine food service and bon homie of the previous owners.

My wife and I called in for coffee and a snack. I needed to use the toilet so my wife went into the bar/restaurant to order. By the time I came out I heard the managers loud voice saying you can’t use the toilets we are not a public toilet! We said we had hoped to have drinks and a snack he said they were too busy and we shouldn’t have used the toilet…. What a terrible attitude

We had been planning to go here for sometime after recommendations and reading the Tripadvisor reviews. We were not disappointed! From the moment we arrived and greeted by Richard we were made to literally feel at home in this beautiful building. Not knowing much at all about Thai food Richard was so helpful in explaining the dishes. The restaurant has authentic Thai dining furniture imported from Thailand and this added to the ambience of the dining experience. Wonderful freshly cooked food to our taste we will definitely go back. So lucky to have authentic Thai food only 20 minutes from our home!

Great stay and the food at the restaurant was exceptional. Richard was a great host and was keen to make sure our stay was perfect. The bed was large and comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. This is not your typical hotel as the buildings are old and the layout is quirky. We had a great stay and will definitely be back.

I looked for somewhere to celebrate my birthday while staying in the area, and I spotted Home Farm. We were a party of 14, and Richard already had a party of 10 booked for the dining room, so we were offered to eat in the bar, a bonus for us!!. Richard really took his time with each person, when ordering, to ensure the meal was as required, Thai food can be a little hot, and he downgraded the heat level for several of the party, and everyone really loved their food. My wife ordered a sea bass meal and it came beautifully presented, off the bone with an outstanding sauce that added to the flavour rather than smother it. Several members of the party, love Thai food and described this as the best they had ever tasted, as a novice, wow!! The flavours burst into life in your mouth, clean and exciting, and that from someone who doesn't like Chinese food. If you're not a Thai food fanatic, trust Richard to match you to a dish, if you love it, please go, you won't be disappointed. Thank you for making our meal the highlight of a lovely holiday, what a shame we live 220 miles away, just have to come and stay in your hotel next time

I booked a table for me and my husband for his Birthday week. Made a telephone booking and even the call was friendly and funny, Richard has a great sense of humour. Arrived on the 4th December. A beautiful, historic building greets you. We went in via reception. Lovely, warm and very clean. We went to the bar area and Richard welcomed us immediately. He’s an excellent host, made us feel very welcome. We ordered drinks and sat in the cosy bar area. Richard helped us with the menu. We chose a Thai meal and he explained to us how the meal can be tailor made to suit your taste. If you like a quite a spicy version, you can have it. The same if you prefer a milder taste. I opted for a mild Chicken Thai curry. My husband opted for chicken and pork (made specially) Thai curry. We chose Dim Sum as a starter. We didn’t have to wait too long before we were taken through the restaurant. As soon as you walk in you are surrounded by the most amazing aromas…no kidding. You have to experience that alone. We sat down. The room is lovely. A huge old fireplace and beams on the ceiling..beautiful. Again, very, very clean. The starter was brought out to us. WOW! THE BEST dim sum I have EVER had in my life..honestly. The flavours were so good. Richard can’t be more accommodating and asked how the dim sum was. I told him it’s the best I’ve ever had. Then came out the main. The smell alone had my mouth watering. We were both happy with the spice we chose. There was plenty of food too. Nothing was too much trouble. Even the chef (Richard’s lovely wife) came out to greet us. How nice is that. I thought I’d give this place a try as we have passed by so many times. I’m so glad we did and we will definitely be going back. We’ve decided to go through the whole menu. I’m not sure if they do deserts as I was too full to be able to contemplate one. Lovely, friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Thanks to everyone who made our evening so special.

My wife & I visited the restaurant last weekend and had a fantastic evening - the atmosphere, food and service were faultless. The food was incredible: my wife had the spring rolls followed by sweet & sour chicken, while I had the Thai not-fishcakes (they were chicken) followed by Yang Neua (grilled beef with a VERY spicy dipping sauce). The portions were very generous, so we shared a dessert. Similar satisfied noises came from the diners at all the other tables, so it wasn't just us. The proprietors are very passionate about their food and that really came across. It was also great to discover that the chicken is free range. This was our first visit to Home Farm, but I am sure it won't be our last.

Great Atmosphere and we both liked Richard's cheeky banter. He explained they don't have any staff at the moment due to Covid so the meal would be a leisurely affair. The food didn't disappoint, it was totally authentic, exactly the same as we had had in Thailand, yum yum yum. We can't wait till we can go again.

We had two dinners and breakfast from this restaurant because we stayed in the Home Farm Hotel. We wanted to have the dinner and breakfast during our stay, but had to cancel our plans due to VERY POOR customer service received from Richard and also because of his wife's cooking due to overcooked and burned full cook breakfast we received from the restaurant. Day 1, Richard introduced his wife to us, but she totally ignored us and in addition, she did not even bother to acknowledged and smiled with us. She seems to be very upset or very distance from everything or stressed/fed up about something at the time. Not sure this was due to over working… Day 1, Richard requested us to come down stairs for the dinner at 18:00, but instead of taking us to the restaurant for dinner, he tried his best to hard sell the alcohols he had in the bar to us and also to all the other guests. This happened even after we told him several times that we only want the meal and no alcohol from his bar. After about two hours, I had to tell him that I’m a diabetic and heart patient therefore I do really want to eat the meal and have a rest. He gave us the menu and I asked for lamb which was on the menu and he went crazy and said to us that they do not provide English food in this restaurant. I showed him what was on the menu, but he did not even apologise to us. He said lamb run out and asked us to select something else from the menu, again we selected duck, but that was run out as well!!! By then, Richard was sarcastic and rude to us as well as to other guests… In the end, we asked what we can have for our dinner. He almost shouted at us saying he and his wife only there to run the hotel without any staff therefore, we have to eat whatever his wife can cook!!! Finally, at about 21:00, we managed to have our dinner and I asked Richard to cancel our breakfast and dinner booking for the rest of the days however, he said we have to take the breakfast for next day because it was too late to cancel it. Next morning (Day 2), we were near the restaurant since 08:00 as Richard requested but as usual, past 09:00 we received burnt and overcooked full breakfast for two of us. They had a very large menu but it seems like most of the food either his wife did not know how to cook or had run out. Richard charged full price for our meals, BUT he FORGOT to provide the good quality food and services to the customers…

From the warm friendly welcome, the the high standard of the room, the superb cuisine, large selection of wine and gin, it would be very hard for a reasonable person to find fault with anything! The beds and pillows were very comfy, the bathroom nice and clean and the COVID-19 measures were absolutely fine. The standard of decor throughout the hotel is very good, lovely hand carved furniture brought over from Thailand. The range of drinks available was fine, the wine we had was superb and the gin menu a great idea! The food was sublime. My 'heat level' was a 4 on their scale, which was warm without being uncomfortable on the pallet. Choices for starters and mains were wide and truly authentic. Probably the best Thai food we have ever had! Richard, the owner was very friendly and as helpful as can be. The only very minor downside is the road is quite close and can be a bit noisy in the morning, but its only a minor issue really! A fab stay, fab people, fab food, fab cider, gin, wine...we will definitely stay again next time we are in the area!!

We were really keen to have a Thai meal whilst away for a few nights on the Jurassic coast. We count ourselves extremely lucky to have been able to book a table in the restaurant, because we found our meal to be very high quality and delicious. The freshly cooked dishes of green curry, phad Thai and special fried rice all offered delightful flavours. Our young son enjoyed the meals as much as us. The hosts were friendly and hospitable, whilst following strict social distancing / personal protection guidance. The restaurant is set in a beautiful old hotel. We found the meal to be on the same level as upmarket offerings in London. We’d happily return again when visiting the area, maybe to stay in the hotel as well.

Large flat screen TV in bar area on full blast which we didn't appreciate considering the ambience of the building. Background music would've been more appropriate. The waitres didn't seem very attentive to our needs at all & we had to wait nearly an hour for the starter to arrive! The main course was not what we ordered in that the strength of the sauces had been mixed up! My husband's beef in his dish was chewy. When I got home I felt very unwell and ended up ill for 10 days with a stomach upset due I guess to the mussels. Sorry we won't be back !!!

What a surprise! Our friends read a review in a local magazine recently and thought we’d like to join them for a Thai meal at Home Farm. There’s nothing outside to hint at the amazing Thai foodie experience to be had at this wonderful restaurant. Richard and Nat give a really warm welcome and serve plentiful, freshly cooked, authentic Thai food with beautifully fresh ingredients.I thought I might regret ordering a starter of chicken satay, but it really was nothing like the usual dry old skewers accompanied by peanut butter! Two skewers of beautifully tender pieces of marinaded chicken breast with a fabulous home made sauce, crispy noodles and zingy salads.... and a mixed seafood stir fry to follow with all manner of gorgeous fish, including huge scallops, prawns, mussels, squid and a whole fillet of sea bass. Out first experience of Home Farm after a recommendation from a friend. My husband read the reviews and booked for a birthday meal for me. My goodness, this place and it's food is stunning in it's care for the customer to have the best experience. Michael and Nat are passionate about the whole experience when you dine here. Michael helped us decide on a dish and we could tweak the heat of the dish to our preference. I've never had a restaurant owner be so attentive (without being invasive) to making our experience be magnificent. They are a small family business where booking would be recommended. I had Belly pork and sticky noodles to start. Divine! For main I had a Duck curry in a beautiful creamy sauce that had a little heat to it. Ended with incredible coconut ice cream, My husband had a Spicy Chicken soup followed by Seafood stir fry curry. The amount of meat in these dishes is much more than we had expected I we felt that the price for a dish was fair. Given that they go out and source the produce themselves provides "wow" food. I've never felt that way about a meal out before. You have to go here and spread the news like we are. This is 10* cuisine and East Devon is fortunate to have this place. Now stop reading and book :)

The food was delicious - traditional dishes, melt in the mouth lamb, and all full of flavour. All enjoyed in a peaceful setting, on carved wooden furniture imported from Thailand. The food is relatively pricey but justifiably so as it is all prepared fresh, so in this case it’s true that you get what you pay for.

We are always on the lookout for good Thai restaurants, which are unfortunately few and far between in this neck of the woods. So were delighted to discover this place during a random online search. The food was absolutely amazing, particularly the mookrob pad kra pow, and we particularly appreciated 'auntie' in the kitchen rustling up our favourite salad although it wasn't on the menu. The requested buffet for our party of 30 was well catered with excellent presentation and overall quality. The owners tried hard to make the whole event come together with nothing too much trouble. From salvers of meats to salads, quiches, crispy chicken wings and rolls followed by cheesecake, two different fresh fruit salads and traditional Devon cream teas, the whole offer went down well with guests. What a place this is!! Richard and Nat are incredible hosts and are very attentive to your specific needs, providing a very warm and friendly atmosphere throughout, we just didn't want to leave! The room we stayed in was light yet cosy, a little chilly at night when the heating went off but blankets are provided. The jacuzzi bath was a real treat too! The only issue we had was the noise from the road, it does get rather noisy from 5-6am onwards with large lorries passing by. The rooms are cleaned daily and the essentials topped up by very friendly staff.. after all, us Brits can't be without a brew in the morning!! As for the food.. WOW! I haven't tasted Thai green curry as fresh as that in my life.. it was incredible! HUGE compliments to the chef!! The chicken was tender and not the usual water injected toss from a wholesalers, the veg all locally sourced and cooked to perfection, honestly you cannot fault it. Breakfast, although served rather early (7-8:30am weekdays - we're not early birds), was lovely with hot drinks and a variety of hot and cold options to choose from, yogurts, fresh fruit and juices also provided - with a very hungry 16 month old on board with us, he was in his element here! There is a bar too which, when requested, could be opened, but we sat here enjoying a drink whilst waiting for dinner. Although there is a bit of a wait for food, it is so worth it! It's cooked fresh and to order to ensure that perfection.. the bottle of prosecco certainly helped kill the time though.

Gracias

I ordered Moules Marinere as a main course. The portion that came was about the size of a starter. The mussels were described as local but they were certainly nothing special. Luckily I had ordered french fries as well so my meal was mainly bread and chips! I also tried to order a green side salad - but was told no salad...only ratatouille.

Luke the chief is brilliant very talented and food was cooked to perfection. The breakfast was of good quality especially the vegetarian cooked breakfast. The restaurant itself needs updating and revamping as very old, but the service, quality of food and the whole experience was well worth it.

We had a lovely meal on the restaurant. We booked a meal as we arrived late in the afternoon more to do with ease than reputation. It turned out to be excellent and our only moan would have been that there was too much. Good choice of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks.

A nice selection of fresh, locally sourced specials are offered so you can't miss with your selection. Our meals were expertly prepared and served with attention to detail. Nice selection of wines made the meal even more inspiring. Of course, a bit of magic never hurts either. Thanks for the memorable magic show, Mr. Englishman:)

We booked into Home Farm Hotel after our Land Rover Experience earlier in the day. Warm friendly welcome from the owner Ashley. Lovely big room with good decor and plenty of space,en-suite with shower over the bath. Restaurant had a very good selection of meals, ciders and wine. Hotel manager ( Billy ) was on hand for every little thing you may have needed, nothing was to much trouble, even down to the playing card tricks during the evening. Good location with easy access to Lyme Regis/Honiton or Exeter. Hope to visit again sometime soon.

It was most dissapointing to find on arrival that there was no larger on pump and the cider pump not working properly that was our only options considering it was an 18th party & pre booked you would of thought it would of been more orgainsed than this. The food left alot to be desiered medium to rare steaks came out rare, salmon over cooked & who as roast potatoes with salmon ? . All food came out at different times with long waits inbetween. Plates were being collected whilst people were still eating. One particular waitress found it hard to raise a smile and just went through the motions. Good job my family as a sense of humour but wont be going back.

We immediately received a warm welcome from Billy; (shame about his bad jokes! :-) ) and we were shown round. Our room was very comfortable, with a nice en-suite bathroom, TV, free Wifi and a drinks tray. Dinner was lovely, breakfast was amazing. All freshly cooked and good service. Would definitely go there again.

Wanted to try this place as it's near where we live and under newish ownership. Very nice service and decent food. However the soup was mushroom rather than red pepper as on the menu - this was pleasantly shrugged off by the staff and no problem for us, and the bar area where we sat felt rather soulless. I'm sure the main restaurant area would be better.

We were staying 2miles away in a rural location and this was the nearest place to eat. How fortuitous, we were not disappointed. The food was exquisite, the restaurant full of genial holiday-makers, making friends and asking each other about their home towns. The wine list was great, dessert menu good, bill reasonable and service faultless. We will be back.

Stayed a couple of nights here for access to Lyme Regis when Lyme was full up and this place was inexpensive. It is absolutely lovely. Beautiful building, really pretty and fresh room with en suite and own outside doorway. Delicious food which they served later for us after we arrived late after a 12 he drive. Very friendly owner, Ashley, and a new manager, Billy, who was good fun and incredibly helpful...went out of his way to find cheapest taxis etc. for us so me and my pal could enjoy a night out in Lyme after our fossil hunt. So, a great wee trip and a lovely place to stay. Thanks, Nicky and Kate :-)

Had a very warm welcome from the owner, and the hotel had a lovely homely feel,to it , pretty , with thatched roof and cottage rooms. Our superior room was pleasant and spacious,,but a few niggles over the standard of housekeeping , windows in bathroom were non opening, making the room stuffy. Our dinner did not start well with the only draught lager available wasn,t available from the bar, our chosen meal was cooked and presented well , however, without consultation, Our chips were substituted , , not what we would expect. Breakfast, again well cooked and presented. Now the major downside was that we were unaware that we were beside an extremely busy road with constant noise all night, and for that reason having lost two nights sleep, we would not return.

We only stopped by chance but were delighted to find a warm welcome (thanks Gina) and excellent food. I thoroughly enjoyed the belly pork which was attractively presented as well as delicious. The others all demolished their fish and chips. We will certainly stop again when on this route.

We enjoyed a very nice dinner in extremely pleasant surroundings. my wife enjoyed the Hake and I had the Lamb shank both of which were perfectly presented and cooked perfectly. However, when presented with the bill which was in an American Express Wallet we attempted to pay by Amex only to be told there would be a surcharge of 2% - so pay in cash or debit card!

Surprisingly good food in a country location - consomme excellent, Hake well cooked; mussels starter with home made bread, very good and belly pork to die for! We shared a dessert - lemon tart with fruits of the forest ice cream - and a cheese board. A great meal - balanced and good flavours.

On 10 June two of us had dinner in the Home Farm Restaurant and after a gap of some years the quality of the kitchen has seriously improved. The service was charming and friendly although the wait was a little long, probably because there was a lot of food ordered in the bar as well as the restaurant. Also, we had no starter which usually fills the gap.My partner ate the hake and seafood with cheesecake to follow and I had the belly pork main with lemon tart for dessert. All dishes were beautifully cooked and prepared. I understand that the plastic tablecloths are shortly to be replaced with linen ones.We will certainly be returning. Well done Home Farm.

We came for dinner on the bank holiday weekend. Met by the owner, Home Farm had very friendly staff welcoming us in front of house. The chef here is clearly talented as our food was excellent. All the staff were very attentive and chatty, and it showed as the guests were all at ease, often talking between tables. Overall a great evening, highly recommended.

It was really nice to be greeted by a friendly face at the reception. I was the shown where the bar and restaurant were, before taking me to my room. The room, excellent, well thought out, tea and biscuits waiting for me. A comfy bed, and I had a very good nights sleep. The evening meal was excellent with nice size portions. Breakfast in the morning, was well cooked and set me up for the day. It was nice to be treated as a person and not another source of income coming through the door.

We had a wonderful stay here from 20 – 22 February 2015 in a superior double room with en-suite, with a delicious multi-choice breakfast included. It was the ideal home-from-home, perfectly situated in a beautiful location, with easy access to the coast, countryside, towns and villages in both Devon and Dorset. The owner and staff were friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. As keen walkers, we couldn’t have found better accommodation. It was stone’s throw from a number of hiking routes and was a relaxing retreat at the end of a strenuous day’s activities. The owner recommended some fabulous restaurants in the area, one of which we visited on our first night (Hix in Lyme Regis). On the second night we sampled the hotel’s equally impressive cuisine. Overall, the hotel was excellent value for money and we would have no hesitation in staying there again, or recommending it to other people.

We had to try the new Sunday lunch menu and we were not disappointed. Roast beef served with roast potatoes, parsnips, carrots, broccoli, cheesy leeks and a proper Yorkshire - not one of those rock hard crispy things restaurants often serve. Followed up with the best freshly cooked Blueberry Bakewell and cream. The staff were friendly and attentive. Thanks very much

I have responded to the experience questions despite a non visit. My message is based on the fact I was ultimately unable to enjoy the products from my online order, as I appear to be excluded from delivery listings due to the fact I live on a Scottish Island. Whilst understanding of the potential costs involved, perhaps the company could at least offer the option to the customer to cover such...something I would be only happy to oblige with....regardless of the amount David Wilkie Isle of Cumbrae Scotland 07488941692
