The best restaurants serving British food in East Devon South West

My friend and i have dinners on Sundays when i visit Seaton. Choise of two roasts. Can be Beef, Chicken, Pork and Lamb. Excellent value for money. Gets very busy so would suggest arriving from 12pm and not later.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Ordered a warm tuna mayo baguette. The baguette was lukewarm at best, tuna was obviously straight out the tin and freezing cold and absolutely no sign of any mayonnaise. I took the item back to the waitress who didn't apologise and was rather indifferent. The item was taken back to the kitchen and "warmed up", for it to still be cold. I was absolutely starving and couldn't be bothered at this point to return it again for it to still be cold. Would not recommend this place at all, much nicer places in Sidmouth to eat! Response to owner: Thank you for your reply. I can assure you it was lukewarm, perhaps if you were there on the day then this could have been confirmed by yourself but alas, you were not. I can also assure you that the baguette when returned after being "warmed up" was not hot so please do not insult me by suggesting that I am unable to tell when something is cold. I think it would be best if you were to review your menus and change the items to cold baguettes since you and your staff are unable to serve hot food as advertised. I did address the issue at the time but feel that I shouldn't, as the customer, have to highlight an issue multiple times when it shouldn't have happened in the first place. Thank you again for your reply and hopefully you make improvements so that your other customers don't have to pay for poor quality food and service.

Possibly the nicest cafe I have visited in a long time. Really friendly staff, delicious coffee and great food. I will definitely be back 😊

We popped in on Saturday for a couple of post meal drinks. A really friendly little bar. Good value and welcoming. They have an area out the front where you can sit in the evening with a beer and listen to the waves hitting the beach. Which is what we did.

Came here for a Sunday roast. Thank you to the owner who accommodated us with short notice. We are so pleased he did as we ended up having the best roast dinner we’ve ever had. Absolutely beautiful. My husband had the roast chicken and I had the vegetarian option. Butternut squash, celeriac and fennel. Rich and tasty and just could not fault it. Can’t recommend the food here enough. Great service and very welcoming.

We received a very warm welcome at the The White Hart in Woodbury. The pub serves good quality pub food. We are going to go back to try the Carvery soon. Would highly recommend a visit.

What a lovely weekend we had celebrating the BIG birthday of one of our young friends! We were blessed with the weather which added to the beauty of the building. This is my favourite Pig so far - there are plenty of different places to congregate on comfy seats around the fire. The staff without exception were friendly welcoming and helpful. The rooms are very comfortable and the shower is to die for - the best ever for power and heat. Like every Pig it is expensive but very worth while for a luxury treat.

So pleased we had chance to visit River Cottage. The food was amazing - even better than we expected! My soup was one of the best I’ve ever had. Everything was freshly prepared and we love that they use mostly local organic ingredients. The staff were lovely and friendly too and very helpful with making choices. And all at very reasonably prices.

Our second visit to this fantastic venue- and it didn’t disappoint! Lovely friendly staff, excellent food - not your usual roadside fare, definitely a step ( or two) up. Our dog was brought her own bowl of water too. A very special place.

Close to the beach. The food was good. Service is good .

Arrived Sunday about 5.30, a very warm welcome was showed to our table, we had a starter crispy chicken our favourite, my partner had a steak I had the roast very tasty, didn’t have a pudding was to full, the service was very excellent by Nicky and Dillion

Popped in for Sunday lunch on impulse during a walk. Despite it being busy we were found a table. Wonderful no-nonsense roast dinner at a very reasonable price and great beer selection. Will definitely be visiting again!
