The menu made what was quite average food on arrival sound amazing- it really wasn’t worth the money! Kind of a champagne price and the food that was served was more Prosecco I’d say. Staff were pleasant, we had a £10 off £40 voucher which would not go through their till, so a bit disappointing really as we spent over £90!

Very good birthday lunch. Food was delicious and service was amazing! Definitely recommend. Staff were all lovely and welcoming.

sunday lunch was lovely for my mums birthday. our server Lisa was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. food came out quickly.

We stayed 2 nights while visiting relatives and found the staff very welcoming and helpful across the board. Room was clean and quiet although there was noise from the road. Bus stop directly outside which was useful and plenty of car parking space. We ate one evening meal which was good and breakfast was cooked to order and very good. The building is a bit tired on the outside but very cosy inside

Took a chance not booking but got in quickly, beautiful Sunday lunch and puddings, friendly service and proper pub interior

Today we went here for lunch as we have often done before. Only writing this because on leaving and paying the bill the lady at bar asked us to please write a frank review!! So here goes… We were there 11:45 so early lunch. Only a handful of customers in the pub. Ordered two fish finger sandwiches and our drinks. The meal arrived really quickly but sadly it had to be sent back as the fish fingers were stone cold in the middle.. not at all good. So we called the lovely usual lady over and she took them away leaving our little pot of chips on table. As we awaited for the return we had to eat the chips or they would have got cold. The second one came and it was ok this time but no one (most unusual) came to ask if it was ok. Nor did we get any extra chips. Mine didn’t have tartare sauce on but that was ok I used mayo. The watercress was on top the fish Turing it into a wilted mush . The place sadly seemed to lack its usual sparkle today.

We use to stay here a lot pre covid and we are on the whole very happy with it. When we pulled up outside this time the building looked very tired with the window fram all rotten & falling apart. Our room was large (room 21 ) and nicely decorated and clean. However when you ran water in the sink we got an awful smell from the drains. Also the shower quickly overflows the shower tray and floods the bathroom. The restaurant and bar area is nice . We had an evening meal. My chicken schnitzel was nice but the chips were soft and uncomfortable appetising. My wife had the vegetable Wellington which was nice but the vegitable were un edible. The cabbage should have been chucked before being cooked as obvously old and the parsnips were grey and the carrots were curled as they must have been reheated many times. We complained but then asked for a single scoop each of ice cream. My wife asked for honeycombe and got strawberry ripple and I asked for any sorbet and got chocolate ice cream (we weren't charged for these). So I think we will be looking for somewhere else for an overnight stop in the future.

Our lovely waitress for the evening was Tracey, who was friendly, efficient and couldn’t have done more to accommodate us. Food was delicious and arrived quickly, piping hot and good sized portions, there was something for everyone in our group on the menu. What a great restaurant, will definitely be visiting again!

Tracy was a great waitress - nothing was too much trouble very friendly & helpful. Mac & Cheese would be a nice addition to the childrens' menu.

Thank you for a wonderful stay. The quality of the Inn was outstanding - delicious food and drinks, hefty, value-for-money portions, extremely comfortable and homely room. Wonderfully polite and helpful staff. My only negative experience was that I needed some assistance with an early check in for an important event (reason for my stay); I called in advance and spoke to someone, I emailed in advance, and I left a voicemail in advance, but I don’t think my communications were received because we were unable to properly request early check in until we arrived (which I understand is too late).

Fantastic hotel. Rooms are spacious and very well priced. The space is very welcoming and the facilities are amazing. Ample parking. The hotel is outside of the busy city so nice and quiet and an easy sleep. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Willing to go the extra mile for the comfort of the patrons. Will be visiting again

The staff were excellent and the rooms were clean and very nice. However the food at the hotel is not good. We have stayed before and it has not improved. The dinner was over cooked and greasy and the breakfast ( avo on toast) was very bad. The hotel is really nice and the rooms are superb but you really need to sort out the food.

Great location for a short break. so close to Exmouth, Topsham, Budleigh Salterton and Bicton Gardens. plus a big farm outlet on same road. Room big and comfortable,Service was very friendly.We booked breakfast.Fabulous choices, not just your normal full English. Dinner was worth booking up for too, average around £18 for main course. There is a huge car park, it is on a main Rd and a bus route,with a stop outside the entrance.

Ambience is very nice. My food and my husband’s wasn’t inspiring. Can’t speak for the others. But our waitress TRACY was a treat. Friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Certainly deserves a mention.

First time back here for 7 months. New member of staff (Tracey) was very friendly & attentive. Complete contrast to our last visit. Was disappointed that a number of wines were unavailable. Similar experience to our last visit where wine was not available. Food though was very good. Will be back.

Good quality food at reasonable prices. We liked the atmosphere with good spacing between the tables and many different areas around the restaurant. We received excellent service from Emily.

We all enjoyed a delicious and reasonably-priced meal, in a lovely pub. It was quiet, with a good atmosphere and we were very well looked after by Tracey, our waitress.

We had a really good roast on a Sunday, everything was really tasty, desserts were generous, servers were attentive, a wonderful experience

The service from the moment we sat down was both polite and friendly, Tracey our server was excellent. The food and service was again wonderful, with the drinks and food being excellent, from the calamari and liver pate starters to the pie of the day and signature burger for mains and the finished off with treat of chocolate brownie and trio of ice cream for desserts. Thank you for the wonderful food and atmosphere.

Plenty of parking. Horrendous food - steak was like eating a flip flop. Asked for medium rare - they were destroyed. Chips were good. Served with 6 cherry tomatoes. Took 20 mins to get a drink. Had to chase for a 2nd. Then charged £99 for the worst meal I’ve eaten. We won’t be going back.

On recent visits to the George and Dragon we had be slightly disappointed with the standard of service. Today, we were served but such a friendly lady called Tracey who was both professional but very friendly. Both our starter and main was processed swiftly and were very tasty and well presented. Throughout our meal Tracey was chatting to other diners and just made you smile as she was so nice. Staff make so much difference to the enjoyment of our meal and we certainly enjoyed today. Thanks you Tracey and we will be back soon

I often stay here often and chose over loads of other hotels. The team are incredibly nice, foods great and rooms are clean

Rooms were clean and comfortable, location for us was excellent. One slight negative was when we went to the bar prior to going for dinner, there was only two seats at a table, when we asked a member of staff if there another seat as the bar was really busy, we were told “not sure just go and look”.
