Bayleaf Cafe in East Devon

New management now runs this smart looking cafe, led by Barry! Excellent breakfast and very good value with Tasty ingredients used. Coffee great too! Lovely staff, very friendly. A small point…..food could have been hotter. Won’t stop us going back though!

Under new ownership/management and already much better with a smarter appearance and a good menu. Nice n friendly and in an enviable position with outdoor seating onto the strand gardens. Delicious coffee too :)

The menus were suitably priced and well mannered staff, very helpful. However very disappointed to see that there is no seating for babies anymore. This should be rectified as they could lose customers, with children come the spring and summer.

I love the Bayleaf. Never disappointed, staff lovely and friendly and willing to adapt their menu. Always a joy. Thank you!

2 staff chatting and was I was ignored. No other people in the shop. 1 staff member looked through the door yet didn't come through. Took my money elsewhere

Slightly slow service, but they did seem very busy and were absolutely lovely about it. Wish there were a few more options on the menu, but the entire atmosphere was great.

Superb service. First time here, had the American pancakes, option of scrambled or fried eggs. The eggs were perfect, runny yolk, and asked for the crispy bacon. S'mores milkshake as well was stunning. Will be coming back.

The other cafe besides Franklins that puts in fake police reports if you don’t look wealthy and catholic. Only tried going in once when I was alerted “my kind” were not welcome here.

It was ok, all the food was in English culture, simple and straightforward.

Great little place. Stopped here for a spot of lunch and it was great. Staff were friendly and the food was good as well as reasonably priced.

We stopped here for lunch and were warmly greeted by the staff when we arrived. The atmosphere was pleasant and friendly. We had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and a bbq chicken panini both meals were delicious. We didn’t sample the coffee as we were too full but sure it would have been equally as good. This is a nice place to rest and eat we will certainly return again.

This place is a little gem! We booked for the cocktail making and weren't disappointed. The staff were really friendly and it had a great atmosphere. It's the second time I've done this and each time has been really good value. Would certainly recommend if you have a group looking to do something different or just to pop in for a tasty ( and strong) cocktail 🍸

We had an evening of cocktail making for a hen do and we all really enjoyed it. From arriving to leaving, the staff were really friendly and explained how it would work with us all making our cocktails. There was space to sit and have a dance with music playing for us. We were also able to pay a few games as well. Really recommended for a good evening out.

We booked an evening cocktail making class for a hen do. We had such good fun. The cocktails were delicious and we found it really good value for money. The Bayleaf team were super friendly and helpful and were happy for us to play hen do games during the evening. Good background music to have a little dance to. I would highly recommend 🍹

Been to many cafes in exmouth and all have been of a high standard - this is NOT one. Baked potato was very dry and chiili was flavourless and seemed as if out of a tin. Toastie was undercooked with neat butter on outside. Coffee was weak. Nice venue - shame about standard of food

Extremely clean, fabulous friendly service, one of the nicest veggie chillis I’ve ever had, and lovely coffee.

Worse breakfast I’ve ever eaten. Sausages were inedible. Bacon looked like it was deep friend and undercooked. Mushrooms were drier than Ghandis flip flop. Just creep products and gross tasting. Never again! Nice coffee and nice staff though!

Great little place for a light lunch and coffee. Peaceful atmosphere and friendly staff. Reasonable prices - unexpected since it’s so near to the beach. Will come again soon.

Ordered the haloumi wrap. 9.00 was tiny cut in half, next to no filling, stale crisps and some really terrible old watery coleslaw with a limp salad, truly the worst lunch I've had anywhere in exmouth

Chips arrived in bags, meaning by the time it had got to me the bags where wet and spilt so chips went everywhere. Curly fries came without cheese as ordered and covered in salt making them inedible

Enjoyed the food, not busy when we came in so everything arrived promptly. I asked to have the breakfast after midday which was kindly offered as they don’t usually do this. Friendly servers all round I recommend a visit.

We visited here after trying to get a table in Wetherspoons around lunchtime. The food was excellent (I had a large breakfast which was fantastic) and my wife had a jacket potato which was pretty large and looked great. The staff were friendly and punctual and the interior was clean and well laid out. Prices were reasonable for what you received. We would visit here again next time we're in Exmouth.

Dreadful service. Sat waiting for 15 minutes for someone to notice us and take our order when a large group of ladies came in and got served first! We left, shan't try there again.

Absolutely dreadful food. We had the most miserable waitress who completely blanked us when we left . Even tho she got the order wrong we were still polite enough to say thank as we left and she just ignored us. Won't be going back that's for sure

Today my working cocker & I had a happy 1/2hr+ sitting outside in dappled sunshine whilst a busker played popular relaxing music. A great latte and scrumptious bacon bap.

We rented the Bayleaf for a party and it was perfect. The staff were so helpful and friendly, the atmosphere is so welcoming, the food was gorgeous and there are 30 cocktails on the drinks menu! Really reasonably priced and such a lovely venue. Having both the inside and outside exclusively is such a unique selling point - would highly recommend!

Looked online for a dog friendly cafe serving a Sunday morning breakfast. Saw the fabulous reviews and decided to give it a whirl. We were not disappointed. Received a courteous welcome at the outside desk and shown to a table outside which was sheltered from the sun and perfect for our pooch. The menu had a range of meals and vegan choices available. We ordered a small breakfast and a 3 oz steak breakfast. Both were excellent value and freshly cooked. All the staff were attentive and friendly. Would recommend this eatery and bar and will definitely return next summer.

Lovely staff and amazing milkshake! We went on my son’s birthday and they made a fuss of him with a candle on a cupcake :-) burgers also highly recommended. We’ll be coming back, thank you!

Unfortunately, we did not get to try the food. Poorly trained waiting staff who cannot prioritise service on a first in first pit basis. In spite of 50% occupancy, four to five groups were served ahead of us despite some arriving minutes earlier. We were not the only ones in the same situation. There are plenty of other great cafes adjacent with great food, more attentive and considerate service.

Visited for drinks and light bites. Pancakes were worse we've ever had. Not fresh, microwaved at best. Think were supposed to be American pancakes? Milkshake not made fresh, definitely use processed flavouring etc Expensive for no effort and lack of home made input.

If you like weak and expensive coffee, this is the place to go, we visited today and ordered 2 latter's and were charged £7.40. The annoying thing is that on looking on website a few hours later, regular latte is quoted at £3.25. Don't like getting ripped off, so definitely won't be going again.

I visited the Bayleaf cafe in Exmouth yesterday for a full English breakfast with an oatmilk latte and had the best experience, the staff were lovely and very welcoming and the breakfast was delicious and cooked perfectly plus I only had to wait 10 minutes for the food to come out piping hot. I highly rate this Cafe for its quality breakfast and great customer service, one very happy customer.

Fantastic, just had breakfast with Santa here and what an absolute joy for children and adults and the food was utterly amazing.

Called in for morning coffee which was good (small or regular – which to us was large). Bright minimalist decor and rather loud service.

Spent 20 minutes after ordering only to be told fryers needed warming up because they had been busy. Offered casserole which looked and tasted like soup. Aggressive manager who insisted they were in the right. Obtained partial refund

Visited this cafe this week. Was greeted at the door before entering. Customer service was very good and a good selection of cakes and drinks. Rated 3 stars as the music was very loud and bassy for a cafe at that time of day (1pm) on a weekday. Also the cake was a bit dry.

Fantastic service, good food and generous portions. Cake was lovely too! Very lucky to find it and a great midday fill up to get us through the afternoon.

I had my 18th birthday party and it was incredible. The staff went above and beyond even buying a cake as I had forgotten. They were so helpful throughout the night especially when helping some of my friends. The bar staff were excellent and overall it was such a good night and I’m very thankful that they had me over such short notice. I highly recommend this venue if you’re looking for a good night out.

Visited this lovely cafe last week ie August 2021. There is a small reception at the entrance to the cafe and also an exterior seating area across a public pathway. We were asked to select our table and chose one on the outside. A waitress was soon greeting us to take our order. On this occasion it was for coffee and cake. Both duly arrived quickly. The coffee was hot and the carrot cake just right. There was plenty if scope for some people watching. A good place to visit.

Called in this morning to have breakfast and drinks. We got our drinks and waited for breakfast. Nearly hour later still no breakfast.ask member of staff who took our order. She had to go into kitchen to ask and the order hadn't been but through. Than they put my refund on a bank card. That wasn't mind. Has i paid cash.. Awful experience. Poor organisational skills, expensive food. Won't be going back

Came here for lunch, and sat outside with my family. The waiters were friendly and the tables were quite big. The milkshakes were very good and had a very wide range of unique flavours, for the main meal I personally had the dirty fries which were very good and everyone else was very pleased with there meal. Would recommend if you wanted lunch out in exmouth.

Wow, what a fabulous evening, the staff worked patiently with us and guiding us through all the ingredients needed to make some delicious cocktails. The bar was spotless with some great music and lights, with the package we had food was included, there was plenty to eat and presented well and delicious.I would throughly recommend the venue for a fun evening with great staff and location. We ate breakfast here the two mornings we stayed in Exmouth.We ate outside but had no trouble getting a table and the staff were really friendly.My son loved the pancakes and although we just had tea and toast it was still really good. The service was quick.Lovely place to eat on a sunny morning to start the day.

We where staying a few nights in Exmouth decided to walk into town centre for a drink. Spotted this cafe offering cocktails 2 for £10 . What a mistake worse cocktails we have ever had ordered 2 they where both the same yet we ordered different. So bad I felt sick afterwards. Lots of really young girls giggling. Not a place to be on a Saturday night.

We visited lunchtime today with our three dogs.The lovely staff informed us there would be a 30 minute wait for food . We sat outside which was undercover and two bowls of water were brought for the dogs.We were served promptly drink arrived straight away and the burgers came without the time stated which was very nice. The only negative was the table was sticky which is a pet hate of mine otherwise definitely recommend

We visited last Friday for our postponed Christmas staff party. What an amazing atmosphere, staff ( Kirsty and her team made us feel so welcome ) , music and cocktails to die for! Shots roulette is such a fun too!

A nice place to be for all ages

A fair choice of different sandwich and breakfast options on the menu. The food was average, however it is in a great location in Exmouth.

Perfect breakfast and coffees in the marquee on a wet and miserable day. Staff efficient and friendly. Sausages and bacon are really good quality and full of flavour. We will be back.

Food is amazing cheap and lush drinks, customer service was excellent. Such an enjoyable night will be going back again ❤️

Visited many times and have had many deliveries from them , the staff are always very polite and friendly. They have a good drink selection and very tasty food ( Dirty fries are amazing) After tasting the rest of the town’s coffee, the bayleaf is definitely the best , can’t wait to visit again

I just want to start by saying that I’ve dined here before and their food is normally very nice.. but maybe takeaway isn’t their forte. It really wasn’t great. The fried food tasted like it had been fried abs left to sit until an order came in and then fried again. It was rock solid, greasy and bland. The burger bun was soggy, which is strange because there were no sauces inside, and the chicken inside was dry and cold. The only thing that was good were the dips, they were the only thing we kept and used for a meal later that day. It’s a real shame.
