The food was a lot better then the last time I visited, will see if it tastes the same on carnival night

Went in expecting tasty cod and chips. Chips were under cooked and semi raw in places. Asked for their money up front, must have been because people had refused to pay. Vowed never to return.

Went here because of what seemed good reviews. Personally didn't rate it. 2 mistake on order and only ordered 1 fish and chips and curry sauce. Didn't really enjoy the chips and found them a little expensive for size of portion and sauce very watery. So no return for me.

Winstons is well known locally and for good reason. Excellent fish and chips, but not cheap. Highly recommended

Dreadful food, cold over cooked, no fish loads of batter !!!

The food looked good and my wife's meal was fine when we got it. They made the mistake of not prioritising properly so our order got stuck at the bottom. This lead to a rushed serving with my wife's food being cooked as it was not the usual cod and mine being two small buts of cod that had been refried. The batter was dark and the fish a little greasy. I was too tired to argue after all that wait or I would have complained there and they. What made it worse was that we had paid the premium for eating in house which was about 50% more than eating outside. I so wanted a nice piece of cod in light crisp batter that everyone else was getting. Probably wont be in Weston ever again so a chance lost.

Sorry I cannot give a better review for Winstons. Visited during a busy time and on the exterior there is an offer for fish, chips, bread, cuppa for £13.50 however, when you get in you are not offered this option so you presume to pay well over £20 for a big, better version of this. Oh my word, the cod on my plate was the second smallest I've ever seen (smaller than the Henry's in Whitby) and it was utterly tasteless, the batter was also poor. The garden peas ordered was delivered in it's own water and also tasted of nothing, so there was absolutely no seasoning while cooking. The chips were okay though. I would not visit again, ever, unfortunately which is a shame as this could be so much more. I am guessing the owners have taken the decision to downgrade the food when they do not need to. Yes they wouldn't get as many customers but then again charging more and offering a better plate would be more beneficial to them in the long run. All in all I felt ripped off and wished we had chosen a better place to eat. Their season is nearly over so I hope they have a rethink during the winter and upgrade the food and service.

Quite expensive for the portion size but nice tasting and freshly cooked. Better than some of the other places around.

We had 2 cod and chips and 1 haddoc, 1 jacket potato with tuna mayo, 2 childrens meals for £81. Very expensive but that wasnt even the worst bit. It all came out it looked alright but i noticed (being a chef) our fish was abit underdone however my mum didnt want the commotion so i kept quiet. I regretted this as now me and my family now have Scombroid Fish Poisoning. This is shocking as there was a pregnant lady there GOOD JOB SHE NEVER HAD THE FISH! Lucky its even getting a 3!

Always good, good value senior meal

We've allways had a nice fish and chips there but this time was different not food but lots of dogs and for me it was a hot day dogs barking and big pink tungs hanging out near by maybe it's just me but I'd prefer not to have the company of other peoples dogs well I'm eating it's just my opinion I didn't need to there but we did notice most of the restaurants welcome dogs now maybe we need eating with dogs and eating without dogs seating areas or maybe it's just me

Prices were steeper than I expected and portions were very small compared to my local chippy in London!

Smallest and most expensive piece of cod I've ever been served.

Food was lovely, staff lovely too.

If you have Haddock here, be warned that they have bones in it. We ended up with Cod. Disappointing as we had just arrived after 3hrs drive.

2 small portions expensive your order was £9.50 each add mushy peas plus vat £28 that is a lot fish and chips last time i use it

Usually very good but today it was'nt upto standered .Batter hard and dry fish thin and i would say over cooked.Very dissapointing.

Very busy. Not cheap. Take away saved a family of over £40. Burgers came out a microwave.

Though my family & I felt that the fish could have been a lot bigger and definitely could have had more chips, it was really delicious. A little side but looking around afterwards it was on the higher side of the average price. We were served by a young lady who was very polite, smiling and most welcoming. Fish was not dry or overcooked and the chips where chips and not crisps. I do recommend - there is indoor and outdoor seating. Well done Team Winstons ps. I grabbed a beer from the bar next door who put beer in a plastic cup.

Lovely food colourings for children supplied to keep them entertained and quick service

On the day we came there was a man kicking off to the point he tipped the table over to then scared my grandchildren and made them cry as they never seen that before and his potty mouth was vile .but the staff was amazing handle it well as well as looking after us and a lot more people that was eating.no fault of there own just a man that wanted a free meal .ten out of ten to the staff for being amazing .and looking after us well .food was lush definitely be back .

Come here on hoilday and come to visit this restaurant Staff are rude on the door. Not very polite. No direction at all. Slammed down the pot with knife and forks Sat waiting for while to be seen. What ruined it for me and my nan was the loud crashing and banging of plates by the toilets And I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone visiting

Very bad service. Too expensive. Small portions. Regret going spent £50 for three of us. Definitely not worth it.

Use to be really good , but now really poor Had better fish from captain birds eye , chips poor as well , flat cider , will not be going in there again expensive rip off . Oh and you now have to pay up front , probably be cause of all the complaints and non payers ,avoid

Fish and chips were medicore. Expensive. Large chips wasn't that much. Seemed to like using the polystyrene tubs a little too much.

It's a great place for fish and chips

Don't go early in the day. It took half an hour to bring our food, burger and chips twice, by the time the food arrived we had finished our cups of tea, but having paid in advance we didn't order another drink to have with the food. Burger was possibly the worst burger I have ever had, dried out and thin, and no-way was it a quarter pounder. The bun was greasy (on the outside, why? how?) the chips were obviously re-heated and had that odd crust to them that makes them dramatically disappointing. No wonder they take payment up front. Won't be returning.

We thought we would try this fish as was staying in the area. Overly priced and food is not the best. Would not recommend.

Nice meal, the fish was cooked perfectly. The chips could have been hotter, probably chips waiting for the fish to be cooked. Staff, okay. It's not the best but worthy of 4xxxx.

Unfortunately a bad experience at this place due to the service. I went here as part of a school trip and took a small class of special educational needs children. We booked in advance but were late getting there due to traffic and the needs of our children. When we arrived we were greeted by a very rude female employee who had no understanding to our lateness and was not willing to listen to our explanation. We had children who were upset due to it being windy outside and the noise of furniture being moved around due to the winds and she refused to let us bring the children inside. Unfortunately extremely disappointing and no sense of inclusive practice or understanding at all. Based on this experience I would not recommend coming here. Maybe lessons will be learnt and the service will improve in future.

We travel around 180 round trip to have a walk along the front on a nice day and have done this for a few years and it was a local who recommended this establishment and so we have used it for our lunchtime stop. Always been good and they cook as you order but today and the last time we visited our Fish and especially the chips not to the standard of the past so will probably look somewhere else when we next visit Weston.

loved it, the young lad severing me named isaak i believe it was surved me with up most grace and style, food was well worth the price and i will return as soon as possible, but the young lad deserves a pay rises

I have to be honest we were very unimpressed with this visit. All available tables were dirty although a member of staff did clean them afterwards and the price which we considered to be extremely high at £ 5.00 for two fairly small cups of tea. Also the milk was very oddly almost hot and kirdled fairly quickly ( a first for us ). Based on this we will not be returning

Winston’s looks like a family run restaurant and we like supporting independent restaurants before the chains take over. The restaurant is a little funky, which I like, with ‘bubbles’ hanging from the ceiling, a scuba diver to greet you and painted sea walls. Food was good. We had Haddock and chips, which was lovely. It’s not cheap but good. The only odd part was paying for the meal as you ordered it. A little odd.

We paid for the £17.95 each for cod & chips, it came out & was a bit smaller than expected.I saw the lunch menu(afterwards)...cod & chips with mushy peas & it wasn't far off the size of the ours & cheaper. We had to pay extra for peas to. My cod was too crunchy & dry at the sides so gave to my husband.

Ate in this place many times but this time food was awful. Not gonna come back there anymore.

Walked in, saw the prices and walked straight back out again. I get it's a seaside town but remortgaging your house for a battered sausage no thank you

Im not the biggest fan of deep fried food, but I ate all my cod and chips, not a scrap left. Goes to show just how delicious this was, I couldn't help but scoff the lot!

Went in at around midday on a Monday recently. Ordered sausage and chips. Service was good. Restaurant clean and bright. Meal arrived quite quickly. Sausages were fine but chips were unattractive and inedible. Told the waitress when she cleared our table. She said she would pass it on, that was all. I think we made the mistake of going in early because those chips were definitely not newly cooked. People who ate later said that their chips were really lovely.

Great to have different fish options - we chose halibut. Very nice meal, friendly service, tables and chairs kept nice and clean. Quite a few bones in the halibut but lovely otherwise. Noisy environment due to lots of families with young children, but nice to see children catered for - given crayons and colouring sheets.

Putting 5 stars so my review can be seen. I wouldn't even give 1 star. Food was disgusting, soggy, and uncooked chips. Made us pay first before receiving our food, which now I understand why, so u can not complain.. I got up and used the restroom and got asked if we were leaving and rushed off our table. (My little girl was still eating) Price was outrageous. 55 quid for 2 fish and chips and 2 coffees! Wouldn't be returning, and I'd avoid this place if u want decent food, especially at that price. Staff was unhelpful and rude. The toilet wasn't clean either. Sand everywhere, which I understand near a beach but not hard to keep on top of.

Not for vegetarians. Visited Sun about 4. The staff were lovely and helpful. It was a bit of a disaster for me as my friend suddenly got hungry and wanted chips and we sat in. She wanted egg & something and chips. No eggs after 3 which was strange. Even stranger the children's menu still did egg and chips! I then found out that the chips are not suitable for vegetarians nothing to show in menu. I should have asked before i orderd. I asked about jacket potatoes but seems they go under the grill with the meat fat. Something that people are unlikely to think to ask. I had bread and butter which looked like margarine and mushy peas so not satisfying for me. Decades ago I was used to places not catering to vegetarians. It is usual these days although more chips shops are cooking in animal fat. I usually remember to ask before I order just in case. The staff were really lovely trying to sort it out otherwise I would have given less stars.

I ordered tuna and mayo jacket potato with a side salad. The tuna was very dry, like some tuna had been thrown on straight from the tin. The salad consisted of one slice of cucumber, a quarter of a tomato, a few rings of red onion and some limp brown and white lettuce. When I pointed out that the lettuce was awful, the waitress simply said that it was fresh every day and that's how it came! No apology, no attempt to replace it with something green, terrible and inedible. Offered us a free drink at the end of the meal, I'd rather have had better food!

Excellent food and the staff were very pleasant. Reasonably priced, given the quality of the food. Good range of menu options: I chose halibut; my wife chose cod.

Had to wait a while for food to be served! People coming in after us was getting food before us! There was only 4 of us & a child so no excuse really.

Waited over 40 minutes for this. £12.40 later. Place has gone right down hill. Used to be lovely.

Went to the Winston's at 12:30 on a Friday and ordered a large chips. The young lad took our order and then disappeared for over 20 minutes sorting orders for the restaurant. He then came back to the counter, took orders and then disappeared again. At this point i had to call him over and tell him I've been waiting over 25 minutes for a portion of chips. He didn't act like this was unusual but he shuffled off and got me my portion of chips. Another lady had been waiting longer than us and was still waiting for food when I left. Chips were nice as usual (it's why we have always come back) but the portion size for a large chips was laughable.

Absolute rip off. Had two takeaway cod and chips. Came to £24.80. Thought it was expensive when the lad rang up on the till, however I thought these are advertised as award winning so must be good, there was also lots of 5* reviews, so thought i would give them benefit of doubt. I was a tad concerned when two separate customers came back to complain about their orders while I was waiting for mine. Sadly I had cause to be concerned, as our order was absolute garbage and not worth a quarter if the price! Two tiny portions of chips that were meant to be large and many were rock hard ends and inedible. The fish was also poor. Batter mostly soft and just fell off and ended up like a pile of mush. Avoid this chippy at all costs!

Been coming here for years but sadly we will not be returning. I appreciate things have gone up but cod and chips now £15.95 and portion size decreased. £2 for a small pot of COLD mushy peas. 2 cokes 2 cod and chips A child's meal 2 mushy peas = £47.40 I feel greed may have got the better of this place. It was always a bit more than other fish and chip places in the area but it used to be well worth it. We didn't even get a slice of lemon with our meal this time

Very busy, but managed to get a table for three. Portions are generous and fish was delicious. Not impressed with the wines on offer. Service was swift and friendly.

It's OK. Had worse had better. Quite expensive, but it is the sea-side.

Had a delicious meal of haddock and chips, with a side of beans. Good choice of dishes, inc veggie and separate kids menu, with colouring sheets. Attentive staff and very helpful & welcoming. Would definitely visit again on future visits to Weston.

Yummy..just what was needed after getting blown about on the beach..

Looking at other reviews, it seems quite inconsistent. Poor food, good food. Today wasn't great, lots of greasy batter not alot of fish. Potion size varies in the reviews pictures. Should be better as it's not cheap, including a small jam jar of milkshake at almost £6.

Joke of place, came here on a recommendation... fish and chips way over priced tiny pitiful excuse for a piece of cod. Battered sausage with hardly any batter. Payment requested up front to which I initially thought that's ok they've had runners but it's so you can't get a refund once you've complained. Shame as we won't be returning

Fantastic meal as always pie and chips with gravy but the young lad who was cleaning and serving was enthusiastic and industrial. Think his name was Cuba

Havw been coming to Winstons aunce 2012. Have always found Staff pleasant & polite. Food always lovely. I have the OAP special which is plenty for me.

My mom, My little sister & I visited this place on the 9th of September 2023, After waiting to be served for around 10 minutes the waiter came over & took our order, a few minutes later he came back with the bill & told us my sister isn’t allowed to have her Mcdonalds Milkshake on the premises of the shop, we then asked what he would like us to do with the milkshake ie does he want us to put it away, throw it away or just leave the restaurant? To this he replied he doesn’t want us to leave however his boss told him to tell us we aren’t allowed to have the milkshake… The poor guy was confused as he wasn’t sure what to recommend himself so we asked if he could call his boss over. The boss came after another 10 minutes to tell us the same thing. We aren’t allowed the Milkshake, his reason being: Mcdonalds wouldnt allow our food in their store so we wont allow theirs… We asked what he wants us to do about this & he wasn’t able to give us an answer either so we asked if he wants us to leave. He started getting angry & told us we can leave but he will not refund us for our food because apparently it’s already being prepared (not knowing we haven’t payed for it yet) My little sister was scared & crying because the man was standing above us and speaking with an angry tone… When he found out the food hasn’t been payed for yet he told us to leave the place. Really not a good experience on a family day out especially for my little sister who just wanted to drink her milkshake.

I m afraid I can not rate the food, we were not served, manager asked us to leave the place because my child had half a milkshake from McDonald’s- we’ve ordered 2 full meals, but that was not good enough, My child could not drink her milkshake- as an explanation I’ve been told- McDonald’s would not let us in with their food, therefore they wont let us in with theirs-shocking!!! Even though we’ve already ordered. Do not recommend at all!!! I m planning to contact the owner, as surely the manager is not an owner! Child got scared and was in tears! Such a lack of professionalism! Worst experience ever! Just to show it is not everywhere- we were served elsewhere with a smile on the face of a waitress!

£14.30 for cod and chips. The cod was mostly batter it was very thin. Definitely not worth the money. The chips were very pale and barely any potato in them, no flavour atall. Won't be coming here again. Went on the pier, £9.95 for cod and chips, the fish was huge and full of fish.

Looked nice food looked nice, staff had no clue what was going on waiting an hour for food to turn up ,Hungry kids refund and left lost customers.

The fish was acceptable but the chips were awful, hard and dry.

It was expensive but that's expected at these places. The prize shop were absolutely dreadful .... no teddies, keyrings or any if the normal prized just a few cheap nasty toys and some sweets ( really poor ) The lift was out of order, meaning absolutely no wheelchair access to the upper floor. This ment my mother in law was unable to take part or even spectate of alot of actives - she was also unable to access the gift shop or the prize shop to spend her 3500 tickets! The escalator also wasn't working 😅 Many other facilities were out of order, and alot of the machines were loomokg shabby and needed maintenance. They kept stopping and we had to call for help many times. The fellas on the go karts were .... extremely fed up and grumpy - witch is a great shame. But I can't say I'd be joyfully doing their job either. Overall it was run down, but we still had an enjoyable time.

They advertised “award winning “ Just wondering what this award is, as it’s far from award winning…. The food was welcomed on a rainy windy summer evening… simply because we were cold! Not much taste in the cod, chips were pale. Sausages were cheap, tasteless, probably frozen. Terrible service, very slow (and no, it wasn’t busy) Would I bother again? Probably not, I chose these only because of the “award winning” sign…. My advice is keep walking to the next one.
