The best restaurants serving British food in South West

Although the garden centre is lovely, the café is another story; the service is slow, the staff are unfriendly, the cups smell and the produce is very expensive. Nonetheless, the coffee was good.

Very bad experience with rude/bad attitude from a member of the cafe staff. To myself and another older customer. Would not recommend.

Shame it never made it to the bottom of the list as the worst restaurant in Swindon, but it was heading there before the owner was sent to prison.

The hotel is clean but needs work. The lift is dark with 1 out of 3 lights working. Staff use this lift, so shouldn't need reporting. The bedrooms are clean. But the bathroom let's them down with swollen water affected panels and grotty colours. The staff were polite and helpful, but this wouldn't be my go to hotel in the future.

On arrival to sit outside the table required cleaning. We asked the waiter if he could possibly clean the table (politely). He replied he was too busy. No other communication and never returned. We asked another waiter to wipe the table which he did but with one wipe. I live in Bath and proud of the city attractions. I was accompanied with friends from another part of the country. Not a great impression. Staff need to be trained not only in how to clean tables but how they interact with customers. Regrettably on this occasion it was poor!

The tea and coffee were nice but "cream tea" was a let down. After saying we would eat in, 10 minutes later we were asked do you want "jam or cream on first?' Unusual we thought but then after another 5 minutes, a scone arrived in a burger box already spread! During this time only one other customer. Bizarre

Great chippie years ago but I’ve had 3 or more rough meals in the last few months. Never again will my family ever go back . I ordered large fish and chips…. and charged for it. It was a bit under cooked and small and the chips were mainly little gribbles. It’s like they buy bags of cut offs with no bigger chips in there. Not for me I’m afraid.

It’s got very expensive and choices aren’t very good Visited since it took it over, great choice of different plants you can’t find elsewhere but the cafe is too expensive

What can I say apart from avoid! Two young girls served us. After we paid, we noticed they were eating while cooking!! Waited 40 mins with no food, when we asked where the food was, she told us she forgot to cook it!! then told us they had no chicken burgers or chicken nuggets. Surely you should check stock before serving? Mistakes happen of course, but this was problem after problem. The girl was vaping while cleaning around the front. So unhygienic is actually disgusting. Such a shame because the location was lovely. We always walked past and wanted to try it. If trading standards ever arrived they would be shut down instantly. WHO EATS WHILE COOKING AND SERVING FOOD? And to top it off, We didn't even get an apology at all. They both just stood bad mouthing us as we walked away.

Complete rip tiny portions heavy batter and totally miserable owner - felt sorry for the young lad serving avoid like the plague

We ate here as we were staying in the hotel (Royal lion) for a couple of nights and had a nice meal. We both opted for fish dishes and whilst the menu is not extensive we were both happy with our food and accompanying wine. The menu is reasonably priced compared to some in Lyme Regis and the service was good. The price of restaurants in Lyme seems to have increased significantly since Covid and availability is sometimes limited (staffing seems to be an issue here as with many places). The hotel restaurant used to be located in a large room on the first floor and had a more inventive menu although the room itself was a bit too formal for my taste

Awful meat pie felt quite ill afterwards. Last went in 2017 gave them a 3 should have gone for a pasty at Barnicutt's. Must be the worst Morrisons cafe in Cornwall.

Me and my husband stayed here last night and what a wonderful hotel, beautiful room brilliant staff and gorgeous food couldn’t fault them. The cost of the room was real good value for money and the food was also very good value for money. Will definitely be staying again thank you for a lovely stay.

Disappointed with choice of hot food for lunch on a chilly cold December . Rolls etc so cold in chiller - soups as usual, so modern unappealing to older people like ourselves. Tasteless beigel , tasteless coffees and the cakes not very exciting. Will not return - will make sure we eat before we get there. Very disappointing.
