We arrived at 2pm for the food festival. Wandered around and could not find anything so we had tea and cake in the Lavender Lodge. Then went into the shop. At the tills at 4.10pm we noticed a poster for the Food Festival. We asked a bunch of 4 staff and all had blank expressions. We were furious that not only did we miss out on it but every customer going through the front door also would be unaware that it was on. There was no poster at the front door. We feel extremely sorry for the store holders that were unaware that there was not promotional material onsite. Until we were actually walking out the exit doors.

I checked online and was disappointed to see the "no dogs" rule. Left my dog at home and chose from the online menu. When I got to the garden centre the menu had changed. As a vegetarian the selection was very poor. My friend chose the Avocado Salad, (I doubt it had a quarter of an avocado in it). I tried to order a panini, but was offered an £11 cheese and pickle sandwich instead. Just very overpriced and very disappointing.

Very disappointing visit, they no longer allow dogs anywhere within garden centre, apparently there were incidents over Christmas and the owners sided with children over dogs.I wonder how much a child spends in the garden centre compared to adults with a dog? , personally I had visited to buy some wooden planters which would have been several hundred pounds, will now take my money elsewhere.

Advertised on the web as the largest Christmas shop in the U.K. I beg to differ. Yes it was large but the displays were so spread out and so untidy with large gaps and everything very muddled. Couldn’t find a simple tree topper or the type of picks we wanted. We had lunch, 1 fish and chips, the fish was barely cooked and the batter left a let to be desired. The other order was ham, egg and chips. The eggs were rock hard and in both cases the chips were like bits of overcooked string. I don’t think we’ll be returning at any time soon.

We had a lovely visit to the garden centre today however we did notice that the centre was very busy with hardly any social distancing taking place and members of staff completely ignoring where people were congregating and no verbal instructions to social distance. Also why was the parking attendant directing us to a small parking area instead of the main parking area? Didn't help with social distancing at all. 250 people seems too many and should be revised to ensure safe distancing in all areas.Funnily enough just read an article about the garden centre being given a directional order from Wiltshire Council, sadly I can see why.

I have been regularly visiting this garden centre cafe since it was taken over by Whitehall garden centres. I am a gardener but tis review is about the cafe. I cycle the 15 miles for lunch and or a coffee. The location is magnificent, true Wiltshire with far reaching views. The food is superb and especially the quiche, I can honestly say the best I have tasted, cakes beautifully made and top quality. All made on the premises by Sharon and her team. Rarely over busy and excellent attentive staff. The prices are not cheap but worth every penny. THIS IS NOT STICKS AND STONES WHICH IS NEARBY and in my opinion not as good. It is takeaway only at the moment but you are allowed to eat at the outside seating area. PLEASE OPEN FULLY SOON MR. SELF.

For the money for a family of 4 (one having just turned 1) I would have at least expected a photo with Santa and not to have it all felt so rushed as soon as we’re in there. You have to wait around in a crowded corridor as they advise you to get there 15 minutes early. Then once your time slot hits, you go through another corridor that is decorated where we were told by the elf to “take our time”. This led to another 10 minutes wait in a hot crowded room before we got in to see Santa. There was no story and as soon as Santa had asked a few questions about Christmas to the the group of children. We were ushered out to the toy room. The whole time with Santa was ruined by hearing the noise coming from the other group of people waiting to come in. Some children managed to get a photo with him but Santa kept repeating that other children were waiting outside. Making us feel like we would have been an inconvenience to wait and have one. When surely all children deserve the chance. Everyone has paid the same. The toy selection is fairly good but having paid £36 for what we have just experienced, waste of money. We won’t be coming again. Shame because it could have been so much better!

Our first visit to Whitehall for Santa’s grotto and we were not impressed! Firstly the description implies that meeting the reindeer is part of the experience you are paying for but they are actually just there for anyone to see. There are no big signs directing you to the grotto, considering this is the main event you would have thought it would be clear. You are ushered into a room with little huts and moving elves and given an activity book to complete. This takes 5 minutes at the most, the little ones aren’t that interested and you are left waiting for about 15 minutes. You can’t even see all of it because you are queuing anyway. Then you are taken into a room where Santa is sleeping in a chair. The log cabin was a glorified shed with holes in the ceiling and fabric hanging down. The decorations were poor considering there is a whole shop full of luxury items next door. Santa spoke to the children as a group and read a quick story and then we were all sent to the present room. There were no personal touches, no time to meet Santa or even have a photo with him. Some people managed to get one but we were being told that they were too busy that day and they were clearly running late and just trying to get us all out of the door. You are mainly paying for the gift which the children choose from a large selection of toys including branded items. A really disappointing experience, we will not be going again.

unbelievable you pay £14.99 to see Santa asleep then read a small story which has nothing to do with Christmas. No individual moment for little ones to talk to Santa or have thier picture taken with him. NO picture memory. \also parents/adults have to £2.99 each to look after thier own child/children, (which every parent would want to look after their little ones but to be charged for this absolutely necessary thing to do is amazingly sleek and instinct profit making,. therefore for one child to see Santa and two adults accompaning them is really £20.97 This makes it extremely expensive . No wonder thie session was less than half full. If Santa spent the time being awake he could have done a with each little one creating why little ones go to see Santa. Also be prepared to queue for fifteen minutes in the cold before going in to see Santa then being rushed. They give you a competition booklet which you are meant to fill in with extremely little light to see what is written on it, plus rushed so much at the end to get to Santa cold not compete it we fill properly. Interestingly another sleek advertising tool when we went to give it in at the end no interest was shown to collect it , just put on a shelf somewhere. We are sure Santa was very disappointed not to be able to be everything Santa should be , he tried very hard to be jolly but must have known how much little felt let down.We personally have seen approximately 50 Santa's between us and never have been so disappointed

Visited Whitehall garden centre in Whitchurch with granddaughter to see the Christmas decorations which were beautiful. We thought it would be nice to have a roast in the cafe. Cafe was really busy but didn’t mind waiting. I ordered 3 Sunday roasts, they don’t do child’s portions so had to have 3 adults ones which at £12.99 we thought was expensive. When the food arrived we were disgusted, 2 small slices of turkey with 2 small pigs in blankets sat on top of 3 Brussels sprouts, 5 thin slices of carrot and 3 slithers of parsnip and 3 very small half roast potatoes. With 2 teas and 1 hot chocolate it came to £48. We will not be eating here again, absolutely disgusting value for money. Local pubs offering Sunday lunches for £11.99 and children’s at £6.99 with lots more variety and plentiful vegetables. You are probably paying for the Christmas decorations. Whitehall garden centre you need to look at your pricing and offer value for money otherwise you will loose a lot more customers

I was going to have a prawn salad but the few prawns that were left in the chiller looked like they had been there a while and the salads on offer looked a bit dreary. I opted for the bacon & Brie panini which was actually a warmed up baguette and the Brie hadn’t melted at all! The side of coleslaw was tasteless and a carrot salad side wasn’t any better. On a good note, a couple in our group had the cod & chips and said it was lovely. The garden centre and Christmas displays are really nice. It's expensive, but obviously good quality. We visited the Saturday before Christmas, and as to be expected, it was hectic. People were queuing just to get into the car park! The cafe was a massive let down. They are charging restaurant prices for food off of a hot plate. It was over £33 for two adults and a child to eat, which seems pretty extortionate for the sub-par food we were served! Eat before you go and save the money!

We’ve visited in previous years and had a good time but this year it was very disappointing. It’s over priced, especially the cafe £2:80 for a bottle of pop the size of a standard can,330mls). We were early for our time slot and so waited in the line which although undercover was very cold. The two elves just chatting about their lives which ruined the magic of them being Santa’s helpers. You are finally let in where you walk around a VERY short walkway and then have to wait. This is meant to take 15mins. It took all of us no more than a few mins. The only benefit is it’s warm. You go in and all’s good. Santa reads a story after asking a few too many questions trying to interact with the kids. Everyone really wants a photo with the main man, which has never been a problem before. He didn’t refuse but kept on asking us all to hurry up. To sum it up NO MAGIC, VERY COSTLY FOR LESS THAN 15MINS WITH SANTA AND VERY RUSHED. We will not be back and will not recommend.

However the feature that prompted this was, to the delight of myself and several of the other members of the party was a being greeted by a large sign at the entrance banning dogs other than guide dogs. I only wish this was the norm as I strongly believe that while there is a time and place for everything, animals in premises where food is served is NOT one of them. I appreciate that this may not be approved of by dog owners, but it, for me, would emphatically be a very real reason for returning again. Well done the Management!!

The chips and beans were cold and the fish was the smallest I've ever seen - about the same size as a standard frozen fish finger. I though they'd made a mistake and given me a child's portion but no, this seemed to be the size of all the other fish too. The total cost of the meal was extortionate and we could eat in a decent restaurant for what we paid for this lunch. I don't know how they justify these costs but we won't be eating here again.

What a great place, quick stop on a further journey. Takes a bit of time to find the restaurant, it's a big place. Lovely clean toilets +++. Restaurant clean light airy. Nice breakfast deal, very full plates and good choice. They can to gluten free toast, but no individual toaster. I'm not a celiac, so ok. But a separate toaster in a place this big surely isn't a big issue. A very pleasant stop. Highly recommend. Oh and lovely staff.

Not a large garden centre but has everything you’d expect. There are staff on hand to help with queries regarding the plants and associated items. There are several displays in the Christmas decorations areas which has a good range. Last time they had Santa Claus there they also had several real reindeer in attendance. The restaurant has a good selection of food and they cater for different dietary requirements. I would certainly recommend a visit.

We enjoyed our outing we often visit lacock but thought we would try Whitchurch for a change it’s definitely the smaller of the two but still a lovely place with plenty of things to do for a couple hours, very well stocked gift shop where we spent a fair bit on Easter gifts and Mother’s Day! Cafe was very busy but staff very pleasant and helpful we were bit disappointed we couldn’t get hot food when we arrived as they stop hot food after a certain time but was plenty of delicious cake which made up for the inconvenience!. Overall a nice little place to visit .

went today to see santa with our grandchildren.Fancied some food so went to the cafe.Thats when it all went wrong.I asked for the brisket of beef. The dark haired middle aged lady replied we dont do main meals until 12.00.I replied your lunch sign says 11.30,no she says look at the lunch menu,it says 12.I reply your main hot lunch menu say 11.30,at this point she gets all huffy and puffy and ignores me.3 other people behind us also wanted a main meal,to be told no.Then the chef comes in and says well if everyone is getting angry I'll start doing the main lunches.Extremely poor customer service.Dont advertise food at a certain time if you cant do it.We had over £100 worth of gifts in our basket, but put them all back, and didnt eat there because of the way were treated.I also employ staff, and I say to the staff there ,if you dont want to work in the cafe, then dont, get a job elsewhere. To the manager I say choose your staff carefully, dont promise things you cant deliver on,this cafe is letting the whole store down, the sooner its taken over the better.wont be going back.

Had a very nice bowl of soup and a bacon and brie sandwich with a good filling. However the brown bread had the consistency and taste of dunlopillo. Most extraordinary. Had a flat white coffee which had no taste whatsoever. Such a pity because the venue is most interesting and these are very simple basic things to get right.

I took my 7 year old granddaughter to the ice rink and was really impressed by the atmosphere and lovely staff who were so helpful and attentive. The only downside was that they let experienced skaters on which when there are young ones whom this is there first experience can be somewhat daunting. A suggestion - let newbies have a session and experts another.

This is an excellent Garden Centre that carries a huge stock, which is attractively set out. It is particularly impressive during the run up to Christmas, when everything you could ever want for the festive season can be found there, even real live reindeer! Children find it a wonderland of interest. Good car parking, with an overflow car park. One down side is the extremely slow service in the restaurant. I have walked away from the queue on several occasions recently, as have other visitors.

Have visited this garden centre often in the past before Whitehall took over and always had good friendly service in the coffee shop. Arrived at 2.15 and joined the queue with 6 people in front of us. To say service was slow is an understatement. By the time we were 2nd in line the woman taking orders told the couple in front of us that the kitchen closed at 2.30. They were less than pleased but she spoke to kitchen staff who said they could make the sandwiches they wanted, although they couldn't toast them. After a discussion on the problems the lady serving had as her husband is coeliac, she came to us, we asked for 2 baguettes and we were also told the kitchen was closed. When we pointed out that we had been waiting for over 15 mins she said they were serving as quickly as they could, blatantly untrue. Her attitude was unhelpful and having watching her serving with no regard to the length of queue building up, she obviously has one speed, extremely slow. Will not be returning even if we had an hour to waste waiting for service
