Amazing setting: the pub which is by the river and has ouside tables from where you see the river, is surrounded by trees( on the river side) that you can see from the wide windows where the rays of sunshine enlighten the nice ,upper room when its sunset,despite the fact that it is in the full city centre. Nice inside as well, and ii found one of the young waitresses very polite, welcoming and smiling

The pub is located right next to the beautiful River Avon with outdoor seating, including a nice decked area over the river. A very good selection of beers, real ales, wines, spirits and cocktails available at a really great price. Real ales are so much cheaper than other pubs and excellent quality! Why would you not go here?!

The pub service is fine but environmentally it's a disaster. The rubbish spilling from the garden into the river is a disgrace. Next time I'll take pics.

Food was not cooked properly so was sent back, tables not cleaned and when they were asked to clean it my husband was handed serviettes! The meal was not what I expect from Wetherspoons I have tasted far better than this at there other places. Will not be rushing back there again Disappointing in the standard or lack of it

Lovely situation for a pub right on the river. Really impressed with garden. The pub was fine although we did need to ask to have our table wiped down as it was very sticky. Not good. I just wish they would have a sign up saying what is not available on the menu. It took several attempts before we found something that they had available. What's the use of the App if they need to keep coming back to you.

A smaller 'spoon though there is a small first floor overlooking the river on one side. There is a narrow veranda also overlooking the river and outside a raised plat form with seats alongside the river. Service was ok but reasonably quick. The food was very good. No dark real ales on for me so settled on a Newcastle Brown. Real Ales were on offer, £1.99 each. We liked it and visited 3 times during our 2 night stay.

This place is a Wetherspoon pub. It's in a nice location on the bank of a canal/river. The food was quite good. I think JDW has improved in that area recently. The beer price is exceptionally good. Cheapest pint was £1.79! Service is fine but obviously you order at the bar or on the app. Staff are friendly. Bottom line: reasonable food with a decent selection at an excellent price. No complaints at all.

Arrived bought drinks. Sat outside. Decided after 30 minutes to order food. THEN told “no dogs”. Removed dog to van. Outside was dirty, old food and crockery lying around. Tables dirty. Soiled dishes and glasses around. We table 301. Girl came with our order but insisted food for empty table 303. Took order away. I went to bar to protest and told food to be returned. Few minutes later food returned cold. Asked steak medium to well done. Steak rare. Popadoms fell on ground. Left and replaced. Big fan of Weatherspoons but on this occasion quality and service fell well short. There is no good reason to ban dogs from outside ares when many shops welcome them. Bad for business.

How do you get jacket potato wrong !!!

No atmosphere, very quiet & yet the tables, floor & generally the whole place was dirty-tables littered with dirty glasses & plates. Dirty menus. The staff were standing around chatting Very disappointing.

As with any chain pub it's OK. Only ordered a bowl Of chips and arrived within 10 min. Staff are friendly

Very disappointed. Three off us. All food came out at different times. Was waiting for dessert for a hour plus main meal also took a hour. No staff, Even tho it's not there fault bless them. tables in a mess outside plates etc. Even the seagulls were enjoying the chips on the table next too us. Wouldn't come again, well not this one anyway.

Would not come here again. 3 of us ordered food and it all came out at different times. Wanted half hours for drinks, an hour for mains, then an hour for desserts. It wasn't the staffs fault they are under staffed however if they can't staff a pub correctly it should be closed as the staff shudnt be put under so much pressure. Food wasn't even to a good standard.

Card machines down, went to get cash, back up when returned. Double whisky served with ice, which I didn't request and wasn't asked if I wanted.

Nice place. Not that much room inside. But lots outside area along the river decks and seating really laid out nice. Weather chilly when visited so didn't sit out. Food ok but chips cold shame would visit again nice views lovely position

Food was ok. Was a little disappointed at how small the salad was compared to other weatherspoones. Not cheap for a salad with what we were served.

Well picked young members of staff. First wetherspoons where I noticed that after bringing in food or drinks they collect empty plates and glasses from other tables on the way back. Some of the weatherspoons won't even clear the table you sit at.

Often have a drink here if we are in chippenham visiting family. Always good service..thanks.

Came here for breakfast they had no porridge or fresh fruit so a vegetarian breakfast it was. Partner had the fiesta breakfast which he enjoyed. Unfortunately my hash browns were oily but it was nice cheap breakfast.

Buggy app. Three occasions ordered a particular item of food and food came out wrong. On the 3rd occasion I made sure I clicked exactly what I wanted and guess what came out wrong again. When I pointed this out as ongoing they claimed I was wrong and I didn’t order what I wanted. This made me frustrated, and obviously bite back. on 3 occasions my friends were eating and I was sat waiting. The waiter then walked around to his colleagues and obviously stirred up our dispute around his work place and all the bar maids and staff was peeping around the corner looking at me on our table and walking past throwing more dirty/aggressive looks. It wouldn’t be pleasant for all people but I have social disabilities as it is and this made me real over whelmed and very uncomfortable and some what defensive to the point I was getting angry to the point of kicking off. When the food was corrected it was cold and less on the plate than originally delivered and looked awful the whole plate looked a mess and depressing (no surprise) really as the looks I was getting I wasn’t surprised of more passive dig of antagonisation. It left me paranoid then something would have been tampered with on my plate same stories spitting etc (this isn’t facts obviously) but I was worried of it as of how unpleasant and unprofessional the staff was acting towards me. I then wasn’t hungry due to the stress of everything and felt unwelcome, I asked my partner to get a refund so we can just leave. Awful staff in my opinion, unprofessional, unpleasant. I’ve had so many bad experiences (here) out of all the weather-spoons I have attended. And others like Devizes and Melksham branch are pleasant and helpful should an issue arise. I would avoid this branch if this wasn’t a meeting place for my partner and our friends. Certainly won’t eat here again.

Staff are a credit to spoons, polite and efficient. Food was excellent as were the pints of real ale too. Spoons doesn't get enough credit for supporting real brewers.

Well been going in here for a few years now but today you failed big time,not very busy so I would have expected plenty of food available but this takes the p#£% come on wetherspoons up your game please and give a bit more.

Totally filthy. Menus covered in old food and sticky drinks. Asked behind the bar for clean ones. Directed me to a rack of 'recently cleaned one' Not one of them was clean. I was under the impression that after being closed down, things would have improved. This place needs another hygiene inspection. Subsequently I have reported this along with photographic/video proof.

Yateley Morris men were part of the Chippenham Folk Festival and we stopped off frequently to eat and drink. We thought that the ‘Spoons would be unablevtobcopecwithbthevenormous demand, but the pub managed Brilliantly, good food, wuivck service, good beers, quick cleaning and really, really upbeat motivated staff. Well done.

Was OK. Tables were not cleaned food everywhere. Glasses stacked up. But it's cheap and easy

We visited with family for a reasonable meal and a reasonable bill afterwards. Fast service, easy to order on the app. Good price, meals & puddings tasted good. The drinks were included in the price of the dinner. They had a cider festival on so we tried a tropical cider & totally loved it. Downside was there were alot if tables not cleared on cleaned, we had to clear our own table & clean it also. Apart from this our experience was good.

Wife ordered poached eggs on toast with a side of bacon. Breakfast arrived without the bacon, so she let waitress know. Over 5 minutes past, so she went to bar to ask, lady was in and out of kitchen in seconds and returned with overdone bacon on a plate. My wife said she "didn't want that" girl replied, OK and walked off! Wife didn't eat her cold egg on toast, and we left very disappointed. Will never return again!

Quick stop for food and beer all good fast service

Asked for bacon butty with added sausage, person on till said they could add it in. Was given bacon butty with sausage on the side. Not cheap like it used to be either. No point in going here anymore.

Great little pub nice view from upstairs

Riverside veiw was stunning but closed after 9 pm. We went on a busy night so short wait for a drink. Although the place an location was stunning. Not sure it is somewhere I would visit again. They had security on the door didn't feel so welcoming.

Ordered a cocktail and watched the barmaid pour a can into a glass, to say lesson learned is an understatement

I was in Chippenham for a day, just passing through on my way to Bristol Airport before flying back out to Portugal. It was a bit rainy but the pub is situated on the river, really nice. The staff were very helpful and friendly too. It was quite busy inside due to the rain but my food was delivered to my table very quickly and was surprisingly good as it wasn't very expensive and came with a drink. The guy serving me was called Sean. He did make me feel welcome as he winked at me twice, which I really appreciated. If you are in chippenham, try this place, I had a good meal and a very nice pint of Cider, I think it's called Stuffed Price ? But I'm not sure.

Wetherspoon's pubs are widely known for offering average quality meals at reasonable prices. However, my recent experience at The Bridge House greatly exceeded expectations, delivering an outstanding mixed grill that was by far the best meal I have had at any Wetherspoon establishment. The mixed grill consisted of rump steak, lamb, pork loin, gammon, sausage, chips, mushroom, tomato, peas, and a fried egg added for less than a pound. Despite my initial uncertainty about lamb, it proved to be the standout component - incredibly flavorful and tender. The gammon was equally delicious, bursting with flavour. Each element was cooked to perfection, delivering a genuinely tasty and satisfying meal. At just £14 including a pint of Brewdog IPA, the value for such a substantial and high-quality meal was exceptional, especially in the current market. The fast and friendly service only enhanced the positive experience. I was very pleasantly surprised with the speed and high quality standard of food, which was as tasty as a proper restaurant at half the price the food would've cost in one. The pub also boasts beautiful views of the river and outside seating on the riverbank, which can be thoroughly enjoyed on warm sunny days. While Wetherspoon's meals can sometimes be inconsistent in quality, this mixed grill has set a new benchmark that will be difficult to surpass. It was undoubtedly one of the most enjoyable and best-valued restaurant meals I have had in recent memory. The Bridge House has raised the bar for what can be expected from a Wetherspoon pub meal.

Basic food at a reasonable price.

Food poisoning. Really really upset as the scenic river view putside, the friendly staff and the food seemed fine. After 3 days, we’re pretty certain it was the lamb from the mixed grill.

Disappointing food. Breakfast was barely warm, although the bottomless coffee was great.

Wetherspoons pub, cheap food & cheap drinks! The pub is large with several different seating areas with views over the river Nothing special but fantastic value for money with most meals under a tenner and come with a free drink.

Visiting family. This seemed to be the only pub that is safe for non-locals to go in. Good selection of craft beers. The food is pretty decent: the chicken wings are a particularly well-kept secret, a pint and a burger for 8 quid, and a tasty veggie breakfast that kept me full up for hours. Nice riverside location too.

Nice people, reliable, consistent

We had a cheeky Sunday evening meal, friendly staff, prompt service. Only marked down on atmosphere as it was very quiet, but sure it would be great earlier in the day

The location is great but the pub is tired and worn. The food is low quality and I'm not convinced about the cleanliness of the plates and cutlery. The portion sizes are a bit stingy - especially for the breakfasts and burgers. The staff seem nice. I feel a bit sorry for them having to work there.

Lovely Wetherspoons pub with a gorgeous river, food and drink service times were really fast and staff seemed professional and helpful. My traditional breakfast was lovely. The manager with the burgundy shirt was also lovely and really helpful as-well. Will 100% be returning

Tall thin guy at the bar was fantastic, I think it's really good that spoons offers careers for people with learning difficulties, very polite and professional. I was surprised!

Staff are always welcoming, food is nice for the price and the pints of haze are 10/10. Morgan, Chloe, Chris and Ashton are always making sure everything is how it should be and provides the best customer service!

Very good service and friendly staff, wish they wouldn't put lime wedges on Corona tho it could present a choking hazard to small children

Surprisingly good pizza (when it's cooked all the way through), miss the lamb shank though. Henry behind the bar was a true gent who had some great recommendations.

A lovely situation for the pub overlooking the river in chippenham, a two level veranda for outside seating is available if the weather is nice. The food was what you'd expect for a wetherspoons being good value. My only disappointment was that they had run out of LEFFE the Belgian beer and I was forced to drink usual lager (I was gutted) The Staff were very helpful when bringing our food but I was disappointed that there seemed to be only 1 member of staff behind the bar and it took several minutes to get drinks and the food ordered despite there only being a few customers at the bar.

Service was appalling. We ordered from the app and there were a lot of food options that came with a drink. The majority of them even on the food menu it shows it comes with a drink. There must have been something wrong with the app but it doesn't show that a drink has been added. No matter how many times we were trying to explain to the person behind the bar, she wouldn't allow us to have the drink even though we paid for one. We even demonstrated to her the exact steps through the app when ordering our food and she could even see herself the drink wasn't added in the UI but she refused anyway. Even though the meal was meant to come with a drink. We gave up trying to get her to understand as she looked like she didn't want to deal with it so we moved on. The tea/coffee/hot chocolate filling station was empty. There was no milk. Only decaf tea was available and no normal tea. Some coffee options were available. And no hot chocolate either. This should have been mentioned when they brought out the hot drink mug over but they didn't. Food was good though. Just think the staff should pay more attention to what's going on around them and be a bit more understanding.

Usual Spoons menu with food orders delivered in amazingly short times. Our food order was delivered to our table within 4 minutes. How do they do that week after week...brilliant. Always plenty of choice of good quality beers on tap.

Went on Saturday night with our daughter and two family friends, so 5 of us in total, found table got drinks then ordered food, food was average and waiting staff were good, however door staff in and around building very rude unprofessional. Were not told that anyone without ID had to be out at a certain time Got to 9pm little security guy comes up to table demanding my daughters ID in which I said she has no ID with her , he then tells her to leave in which we said she clearly isn’t drinking any alcohol he wouldn’t listen, my partner then said we will finish our drinks then leave but the guy in question continued to stand right next to our table, he was rude and intimidating towards us and very persistent, manager Intervened to defuse the situation. Won’t be returning that security guy is a complete joke.

Went with parents and really enjoyed our meal. Would recommend.

I have been to this Wetherspoons on numerous occasions. This particular time, we visited The Bridge House at a very busy time of the day (lunchtime). With our order placed, we didn't have to wait long for our food and drinks. There was a slight problem with one of the meals. However, it was handled excellently by the staff. In fact, Morgan, the lady who dealt with us, was amazing. Looking around, you could see the staff were at maximum capacity. So, for her to take the time to sort out our issue was fantastic customer service. Based on this experience, I will definitely be visiting again.

Lovely pub great location, all the tables had dirty plates and uneaten food on them, had to move to be able to sit at a table, one meal out of three was ok, other two overcooked and burned. Will not be going back. Have been to Wetherspoons on many locations never been to one like this before!!!

When you find a member of staff who goes the extra mile to look after you its worth finding the time to write a review , Thank you Ash keep up the good work , we enjoyed our visit to the Bridge , it was full and is a great place for families , there is plenty of seating with some outside tables overlooking the water , the food is cheap so are the beers .

The service was friendly and quick, it only took a few minutes for the food to arrive. Welcoming atmosphere, affordable items and friendly staff tie it all together. I would have like my drink to have had a straw however since I requested one in my drink. Other than that, it was superb.

Food was mediocre and not very cheap, you can get better food for the same money. I had a sirloin steak and although it's was cooked medium rare, it was chewy.

A smarter Wetherspoon, located just behind the high street and along the river bank. An odd layout inside as has a ground floor bar but also has a separately accessed first floor seating area with views over the river. Outside has two decked terrace areas on the river bank. Staff were friendly and service was good. Food came hot and freshly cooked, so a very pleasant Wetherspoons experience.

Went with a family party, a member of staff mistakenly accused a member of the party of being sick in the loos despite him being lucid and active and clearly not the culprit. The CCTV in the toilet room (???) showed him in the restroom using the cubicle instead of the one with the broken lock and took him washing his hands to mean it was him, apparently hygiene is a negative sign in this establishment and grounds for ejection. Wouldn't take no for an answer despite this being explained as "even so" they treated us poorly to end off a nice night.

It's a big Wetherspoons themed to be historic a la Chippenham on an ancient ancient island next to Town Bridge brilliant best in a very William Morris kinda way...

Better than your average Weatherspoons

It's what you expect from Wetherspoons really - very busy, a bit cramped and short staffed - not great having to eat next to uncleared plates , but I suppose you tolerate this kind of thing when expectations are low

Soggy uncooked stuffing. Queried with staff who said don't worry its cooked before it comes in 😆 I know it's a spoons but I still expect cooked food.

Food was delicious 😋 Staff didn't seem very happy ,my friend had trouble with her order so we didn't all eat together which was a bit annoying for her! Clean and really reasonably priced food and drink .

I was hoping it was going to be okay But I wasn't impressed with the food or the service.

I'm a dog owner, so we're not welcome, shame I used to enjoy my visits.
