Deeply disorganised service leading to a Fawlty Towers style movement from one table to another. Bar service was unfriendly and the food, best described as adequate was only eaten after 3 of 5 meals had been returned to the kitchen. Management were helpful and open to critique, encouraging a return visit when they'd do better but I really can't see that happening.

Overall, our experience at Café Nero was disappointing. The tables were dirty and sticky, there was used cups/plates/cutlery in a large box next to the seating area, the café was cold, the atmosphere was dark and it looked run down. The toilets were disgusting; they smelt horrible and needed to be cleaned. Nonetheless, the upstairs seating seemed nice and the staff who served us were very welcoming and friendly.

Me ,my husband, brother and parents came for a Carvery on the 13th of this month and without a doubt it knocks the socks off any other carverys I've had , the food is all freshly made by the head chef Ivor and team , Ivory's food is out of this world , the bar staff are so friendly and welcoming, we were so surprised at the fantastic value for 3 mixed Carverys and two single meat carverys it was only £73 fantastic value for a country pub we would definitely go again and highly recommend

Called in here for a coffee and a cake with my wife as it was pretty much on our doorstep... But have to say wasn't pleased at all. We had a coffee/tea and a cake each and it was poor... the cake I had, although there was plenty was tasteless, hard as a rock and much the same with what my wife had. it just reminded me of a greasy spoon type café. And for example... we went to a café in Babacombe last week for much the same thing and it was cheaper, far nicer (with amazing views) and felt so much more higher end. not impressed at all

Came here with elderly neighbour for lunch on a Tuesday. No table booking service was available but I was told a Tuesday in December should be fine. It's quite a large restaurant and when we arrived at 12.15pm, only 1 table in the corner was left. It was an OK table. The service and quality of the food was very good. The Quiche was homemade in the kitchen onsite and was exceptional. Some of the other food items served are not up to this quality however. You get served your drinks first, then the food comes very quickly afterwards, so your tea/coffee always goes cold whilst you are eating your food. If eating, probably best to order any hot drinks after you have eaten.

You can see from the mixed reviews how people’s experiences have varied so much . We can only speak as we find and for four visits over four years our experiences have been really good. We have been able to pre order and pick ups have always been on time . Fish and chips were admittedly a bit pricey on our latest visit but taste and portion sizes were spot on .

Having visited for thr first time after visiting the old castle I had high hopes for the walled garden, the food on entry smelt amazing, if only we could get out hands on some of it, so as a family of 4, 4 drinks and 4 lite bites seemed not to much trouble, alas the drinks came out in 20 minutes so far so good, waiting telling my children it's ok it's busy but should be soon, lots of meals came and went for others that arrived after us, then after an hour I had to go and ask, as I qued up other people were also asking where is their food, the polite girl went to find out and the food was coming imminently. So drinks finished food after an hour and lots of the menu not available, high hopes dashed but lesson learnt. The food was hot and good but the wait was absolutely not worth it. The staff were polite and friendly but the organisation of the whole place needs a big overhaul, and if the food is going to be longer than half an hour then tell the customer, an informed customer is a happy customer.
