We booked the private room for a birthday party and we could not have had a better service. Firstly, we were allowed to come and decorate and organise the room in the morning and staff were happy to help out. Hannah and her team were super accommodating with any special requests and nothing was too much trouble. The food was incredible and there was so so much. The price was really reasonable but we did not expect this much food which was great. We had our on private space with our own music and access to the garden . The whole evening was brilliant and we will definitely be booking for our next event!

We had a very warm welcome from the new owner who is in the middle of updating and renovating the pub. We chose the tapas for lunch which was excellent. They have a good offer available at the moment -50% off the food menu. We will definitely be returning.

This venue could be awesome. It's in a brilliant location and is much bigger than first appearances allow. It has recently been taken over by new owners who intend to renovate and update the property. It's obviously tired at the moment and in need of the intended works but the staff are wonderful. From arrival to departure the bar & restaurant staff were pleasant, keen to please and have a great attitude to customer relationships. We only ate breakfast for the two nights we stayed but there was plenty of food choices, and our hard working waitress couldn't do enough for us. We were happy that we chose the Minster Arms and we would return, especially after the renovations are complete.

A great location but so many things let this down. We had the small cosy room and we have to say we have never stayed anywhere so dusty and unclean. Of course we did tell them and they did say thank you for letting us know and we could tell they had been in the room but to no avail.

This is a local pub I have been staying in for many years which I have rated very highly often in the past, this is about my 10th visit but first since summer last year. Oh dear what has gone wrong. The staff still as lovely and friendly, the WiFi still as poor as it has ever been, but thats the local area more so I think. But the rooms wow what a terrible state they have been left to fall into , I had Pinotage this time, dirty floors, broken lamps, bashed walls, leaking mouldy showers, dirty dress pillows, kettles that you cant fill as they don't fit in the sink, curtains missing hooks so don't close, the list can go on. Afraid to say this will be my last visit which is such a shame.

We stayed for one night in the ‘Champagne’ room whilst visiting Wimborne. The Minster Arms is not offensive at all but I can’t say it was great. The room was very dusty, thick layers on shelves and furniture. The blinds were broken so we couldn’t open them, it was a dark room. No hangers or wardrobe, just a metal bar attached to the wall. Shower wasn’t great. The stairs are lethal, narrow and steep. Don’t come here if you are physically impaired or have difficulty walking. Other than that it is what it is. The bed was comfy. Breakfast was ok. Staff were pleasent enough. Nothing ground breaking but I wouldn’t stay again as the rates they charge don’t reflect the facilities. All feels like there’s minimal effort being made. Shame really as there’s not much to choose from in Wimborne and this could be a real gem.

Stayed for 2 nights in March 2024 when down for work. Wimborne is a nice little town with good food and drink options. There isn’t parking but there is a long stay car park with ample CCTV around the corner which is free between 6pm-8am and relatively good value anyway. The room itself was good, with powerful shower, desk and comfortable bed. Good breakfast. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. One way it could be improved would be to start breakfast from 7.30am during the week, as breakfast starts at 8am and there were quite a few guests at this time which meant a longer wait on food. There is a bit of road noise from outside but it wasn’t the end of the world for me, the road was quiet between say 10pm-6.30/7am anyway. Good value for Dorset at £75.00 including breakfast - I’d stay again.

Absolutely disgusting service - we arrived about 5pm but were told no food available until 6pm - at 6pm we were then told no food available in the bar until 7.30pm as they had a private function so were only catering for them not anyone in the bar - when I questioned the manager she refused to give me her name shouted at me and threatened to call the police because she said I raised my voice ( which I hadn’t) what a shame as so many have failed in this bar yet it could be great with proper management and decent customer service

We were at the Minster Arms for a birthday celebration. A party of 20, we'd all chosen 2 courses for £14.95. Every single dish was fantastic, served piping hot, the pork belly looked amazing (I had food envy). The desserts were equally as good and all generous portions. The manager had decorated the tables nicely and also asked if there was any particular music we'd like to listen to, really good touches to make the party special. I'd definitely score the food a 5 star, the only slight downside for me personally was the limited offering of real ales on tap. But thanks for great food and excellent service!

We had booked 3 rooms as we were staying for one night to attend my nieces engagement party. All 3 rooms were very clean and tidy. The breakfast was very good with the usual cereals croissant and juices etc , the cooked breakfast was excellent, we were asked what we wanted and what ever we each requested was supplied. The only minor issue ( which shouldn’t put you off) is that the Minster Arms does not have a car park but there is public parking within 20metres. I would recommend this Minster Arms

Went in for a drink after the carol service in the Minster last night, I approached the bar where the barmaid was serving a couple of people, after she had finished she just disappeared into the kitchen and then re-appeared in the main body of the pub, I politely asked if there was any one serving, "I am busy doing something else" she snarled, so I went back to the bar to wait only for her to re-appear and serve someone who had gone to the bar after me. With that I left to find a pub with bar staff who had manners, Will not be visiting again any time soon.

Been here many times. Including recent meals at weekend. Went with family tonite. Booked fir early doors. I know staffing is an issue but there were 2 young staff on duty and a ‘new chef’. Bottom line is that 1/3 of my favourite dish, the mussels, weren’t cooked till opened, i asked for sourdough bread to soak up the sauce, got pita bread instead. My daughter ordered her fav fish and chips. Fish was 1/2 normal size and chips under cooked. It’s hard times but prices are the same so service should be too. Staff offered me a % off when I gave feedback, I didn’t want that, I just want folks to be able to go out and get value for money. It’s hard times for everyone. Where’s the manager or owner rep?

We had enjoyed our starter and main and were just saying that it would be nice to come back again. But that was before the great wait for our puddings to arrive. We had a very warm welcome on arrival but we had to ask for the Track ad Trace card. We had preordered so that was not a problem and our starter and main appeared promptly. However there was an unacceptable delay in bringing our main course. At one point after about 30 minutes what the problems was and the reply was it was in the over then we waited again. This was a big disappointment and really let the place down. Communication is very important as we are sure there must have been a good reason for the long wait but we were not informed about. Even as we were paying would have been good but it was not mentioned. We were also concerned as we felt the table had not been cleaned properly as there were salt and pepper dispensers on the table and there was spilled round them. This is the first establishment since Covid salt and pepper has been on the table every other place has used individual sachets. What a shame as the food could not be faulted.

We just had the most wonderful Friday night stay at the Minster Arms. From the moment we arrived we had the best customer service right until we left the next morning. Also the hot chocolates in the room were delicious. The breakfast menu had a wide selection, as well as the option for cereals, juices and tea or coffee. The best Eggs Benedict I’ve ever had and I can’t stop thinking about it!There were hand sanitisers everywhere in stylish bottles which matched the decor - a small detail which can really make the experience even better! We just had two amazing nights in this fabulous hotel.Everything about it was perfect. From the most comfortable bed to the lovely toiletries, fruit teas & coffee machine bottles of still & sparkling water. The decor in our (champagne ) room was timely classic the gorgeous bath takes its place underneath the little window so if you take a late bath you can see the stars it’s magical. The staff are cheerful attentive & just can’t do enough to make your stay as your dreams would want it. The food side was so good we made a point when we went out that we would not eat until we got back to the hotel. The prices of food vary depending on what you choose but all totally reasonable. The house wine was the best we have ever tasted crisp cold & so delightful unfortunately I drank the last lot so went on to the Italian white, how happy was we when the next day’s delivery arrived early :) . We stayed for 2 nights. There is no doubt that the pub itself is very nice inside. Once the candles are lit there is a nice warm atmosphere. It “feels right”.Seating in the courtyard and the associated lighting was very nice. Unfortunately there was a shortage of staff, and it showed. I felt sorry for the two guys who were run off their feet. The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy but the staff struggled to keep up.We ate in the restaurant on our first night. My garlic flat bread was nice but expensive for what it was. My haddock and chips were well cooked and tasty although the chip shop curry sauce was cold. My wife had the lamb Kofta which was nice but it would have been better with roasted Mediterranean vegetables. That said it tasted fine albeit too much feta. Some customers were not offered vinegar with their fish and chips this resulted in a complaint. The crab and prawn cocktail was very good, but the avocado was very hard. ( and I mean hard) Someone at a nearby table sent theirs back. We didn’t bother. We decided to sit outside and have a coffee and a brandy , I had a coffee and a bourbon. This was where you identify problems. I asked for a skinny flat white coffee. Unfortunately they couldn’t do that because they only had full fat blue top milk. I felt this was poor. There really is no excuse about not having semi skimmed or skimmed milk available. They had just about every spirit you could shake a stick at but you can only have full fat milk. It’s a minority milk these days! In addition you shouldn’t attempt to serve a brandy in a whiskey glass.....twice. Come on guys the milkman doesn’t deliver milk in a coke bottle. Basic stuff. The hotel Toilets overall were exceptionally clean. Full marks. Our room was slightly disappointing. It was clean, the bathroom was excellent, but the room itself was very small. The bed was very cozy. The coffee maker didn’t work but we couldn’t be bothered to cause a fuss as I wasn’t that desperate for a coffeeThe problem with the room was that there was nowhere to put anything. Whether in the room or en suite space and storage was at an absolute premium. Whilst hair drying and styling is not a problem for me as I don’t have hair my wife was frustrated by the lack of a mirror on a wall where she could dry and style her hair. Instead she had to sit on the floor to try and do it on a make do basis. The same complaint was raised by a group of women at breakfast who mentioned that the same issue had been raised.Breakfast itself was very good although ironically the avocado wasn’t available as it was over ripe despite only a few hours earlier being too hard. This is a nice place, don’t get me wrong, but it just needs to be staffed properly and to get some basics right.I wouldn’t stay here again as I don’t plan on visiting the area in the near future and if I did I would prefer to be nearer to Bournemouth . If I was on business I certainly would stay again. Incidentally if you decide to get the bus to Poole to have a look around......believe me.....don’t bother, the bus driver warned us saying “ Poole??.... are you sure....it’s a dump”...... we visited the quay.... for about 10 minutes decided that depression was kicking in, and jumped on a bus to Bournemouth.....so much better. Poole is not the same place I used to go to in the late 1970s. Goodness only knows what has happened to it. The bus driver obviously knew his stuff.I have marked the overall experience as average, but it is on the cusp of being so much better, but to get this the establishment must listen to constructive criticism and act upon it addressing some basic and fundamental issues.

Room was very comfortable but no provision for soap in the shower area which meant a tricky walk whilst wet to the sink area where it was situated, and no provision for a towel in the toilet area, also no spare toilet roll, none of these things are major but add up to an inconvenience. The dinner on the Friday evening was very good and value for money, they made it feel “normal” in these times of anxiety, the breakfast on the Saturday was again very well delivered, however, Sunday breakfast was a whole new deal, complete disaster, ceareal order was forgotten, waited nearly an hour for the breakfast which arrived with half the ingredients missing and some dodgy horrible bread because they had run out! There was no sense of apology or opportunity to reorder an alternative option, it was a faulty towers experience.I have emailed the hotel direct but,as expected, no response. A poor indication of some bad management issues that spoilt a great weekend.

Always like coming in for few drinks, staff work hard, nice venue! However, I and a couple of others on Saturday evening didn't feel safe in here at all! Compared to the other pubs in Wimborne, there is literally limited safety or NO control measures in place! Apart from a couple of lame floor stickers, hand gel (which you wouldnt notice btw as in a gold bottle) and a couple of minimal screens at the bar which wouldnt do anything as they are just covering the soft drink tap areas, there is nothing! There is NO CONTROL! Anyone can just wonder and pile on in, customers were queuing around the bar to get served like before covid, no table service for drinks or app, people were everywhere getting in each others way, all bar tables were close together, no contact tracing, no protection for the staff! It's as if the pub was trying to cram in as many people as possible to make as much money as possible, and turning a blind eye with little to no safety in mind! And we weren't the only people saying this!If this doesn't improve then the Minster Arms will be reported to the council!

The staff were all pleasant and overall the inn is a nice place to stay. The food is good. Breakfast is good if a bit over doing the egg option. The Inn is a quiet and pretty town. If you want to get away from the tourist hot spots this is good option. We felt the inn could do with being cleaner and far more COVID-19 prepared. The room was dusty and needed a really good deep clean. The bathroom lacked shelves and again needs a deep clean. The inn is on a busy road, therefore be aware of rush hour traffic. It has a small area to eat out that is near the road. We also thought having to pay as you ended the meal a bit odd and lacked the usual hotel feel. The outside area again needs a really good clean.

Staff were more than accommodating but quite a few food items were not available and one member of our party had to change their order twice with mains and 3 members had to change with dessert. 4 out of 6 of us has steak and they could only find one steak knife. Just a bit disappointed as I had really high expectations and I suppose working in hospitality for 5 years doesn’t help. These could be circumstances on the night we visited but I’d love to revisit. Really disappointing meal, Table booked 3.30, food ordered 3.45No roast beef left.Specifically ordered ‘spicy fries’ from menu1 hour wait for food - even though only a few other tables occupiedNo ‘spicy fries’ servedBattered fish - only received very small tail - reported to staff, and reminded them that we had waited an hour to receive, staff offered to replace.Replacement fish was inedible Watery, very grey in colour, tasteless, and texture peeled - unlike any other fish??? Returned it and asked to speak to the manager - had to wait nearly 10 minutes- as she was ‘on a break’VERY VERY DISAPPOINTING- will not be returning.

Family Sunday lunch, time 1.30. By the time we gave our order 2.00pm. We were then told that there was no loin of pork, substitute was porl belly, not everyones favourite, and then no sirloin steakThe first course was served around 2.25 and all dishes were fine. Then we had over 15 minutes before these plates were cleared. Then a long wait before the main course. Apart from the wait time, the main course was something of a disaster. Chicken supreme was a very small chicken breast. The cauliflower cheese was served cold, and sent back. Twice. The roast potatoes were cool and fairly hard. Overall the meak was not enjoyabe. When we spoke to the manageress, she agreed to reduce our bill by some 30% for compensation. Now i would rather have a good meal, with hot food and a menu that reflects what is written. I know it is difficult to judge each week how much of each to order, but that is a management problem. Overall I would not choose this restaurant again.

Have been here a few times before but not for some while. Remembered it being dog friendly so arranged to meet a couple of friends for a post-Xmas drink following a walk with the dog. We managed to bag the seating area with the open fire just inside the entrance and this was burning away very nicely - the only downside is that it can get a bit draughty with the people coming in and out. The staff were very friendly and as it was quiet they came over a few times to ask if we needed any more drinks which was a nice touch. The sandwiches ordered were nicely presented and not bad value @ £6.95 inc chips or a salad. The Minster Arms has a nice ambience and is often quieter than some of the other pubs in town so is a great place for a relaxing drink and some food. Parking is available (pay at meter) just across the road.

Stayed here for one night, and after a good nights sleep went down to get breakfast in the dining room to be informed that the breakfast chef hadn’t turned up for work. The only breakfast that was available was DIY toast and cereal ......... it is an expensive b&b and to have no cooked breakfast was unacceptable!

Birthday meal with friends our first visit to dine. The atmosphere felt Christmassy with nice decorations and a lovely atmosphere. Service a little slow but ok. The food is what really let it down. Three of us ordered ham hock with bubble and squeak, poached egg and hollandaise. The ham hock was more like a terrine, looked unappetising and was served cold not hot. It ruined the rest of the dish which was nice and the portion size was relatively small when compared to the forth member of the party who had bangers and mash which was a huge portion. Desserts were clearly bought in and heated in the microwave.

Visited today to celebrate husbands birthday and so disappointedWe asked for Camembert for starters but they had run out Son chose the beef....tough and still had securing twine on it!!! They replaced the beef which was really no better, but without the twine Had to ask for horseradish / mustard, normal accompaniment to beef! My dish was fine. I wanted the cod but they didn’t have it so replaced it with sea bream. A long wait to be served. Quite noisy but it was Sunday lunch time. A long wait to be served. Staff polite.

Pre-ordered Christmas meal for 8 people. Unfortunately 1 of our party unwell on the morning of the meal (having driven from Bristol) so pub contacted at 10 am to advise only 7 attending. Greeted on arrival by a strange smell, unfortunate but couldn't be helped due to shower leak. Reiterated only 7 attending due to illness and told we would still have to cover deposit - fair enough, deposit paid weeks before. Sat down and ordered drinks, asked for 2 elder flower for drivers. Drinks arrived, once poured discovered drinks in fact ginger and lemongrass. Called staff over and was told that elderflower not in stock...could we have not been told at time of order. We were then told that our 8th persons main course would be served despite having cancelled it at 10am as it was "a slow cooked dish and had been cooking all day..." Starters then arrived, only 3 ordered but 5 arrived...sent 2 back. Mains then arrived with extra meal put in centre of table...could this not have been given to someone in restaurant instead of wasting it?. The 2 who ordered turkey dinners were missing the pigs in blankets...which arrived half way through meal. Mains cleared and approximately 30 mins later we were asked if we wanted coffees...we pointed out we hadn't had our deserts yet! Deserts arrived with 8th persons chocolate brownie and ice cream also put on table...again could somebody else not have eaten this in the restaurant?. Bill arrived and was incorrect, went back to management and was rectified.

Although the food, when we got it, was in the main good, the overall experience was very poor. From the minute we arrived nothing was right, they didn’t seem to know whether they had our booking or not, no wine glasses for the bottle of wine we bought to drink whilst waiting for our table to be laid. Then a long wait for our starters which were wrong when they arrived. Another very long wait for main courses which again had items missing when they eventually arrived. We ordered a second bottle of wine and were given the most expensive bottle which we only realised when we saw the amount on the bill. Overall a really poor experience and we won’t be going back.

Food and service really good. But their alcoholic drinks need to be revised. The red wines are awful, no matter what blend you have. Also bizarrely when we had our 1st couple of drink from the bar they were good and of original makes,on our 3 rd drink of the same order an inferior brand was used which tasted nothing like what it’s meant to be. This is a shame as the place is very nice and cosy.

We were made to feel very welcome by the team. We were attending a function locally and had requested an earlier than normal check in. The team ensured we had access to our room by 2pm. This was really appreciated. We had coffee and cake on arrival and the carrot cake was delicious. The room was really well appointed, beautifully decorated and the Moulton Brown toiletries were a bonus. Can recommend the suite as a spoil, huge roll-top bath. Breakfast was fabulous too, especially the avocado and poached eggs on toast, yummy. All the staff were really friendly and helpful and we will definitely stay again. Thanks everyone for making us so welcome.

Had a few mediocre experiences here over the last year, so haven't been for a while. After reading a number of good reviews, we were encouraged to return - and very pleased we did! The starters of salt cod croquettes were excellently cooked and presented; the mains - lamb rump and lemon sole - were both excellent. Service was cheerful and efficient. We'll definitely be back!

This place is fantastic. We booked for Father Day meal and we were greeted on arrival by a warm, friendly attentive chap (I believe it was his birthday the same day) we were promptly shown to our seats and had drinks within minutes. The food arrived quickly and was superb, better than you’d expect of pub food. Our blonde waitress was delightful and very accommodating of my family which included 3 young boys. A delightful experience all round, other places in wimborne should take note, this is how to run an establishment. Well done to the leadership team and staff, doesn’t get better than this.

Stayed here for 1 night for a family wedding, and honestly will not be returning. The decor is very ‘fashionable’ but not great in terms of usefulness. The lighting in the room was hardly doing the job it was designed for, while the walls and ceiling were painted in dark colours which did not help at all. The mirrors were completely useless as the had deep rims which didn’t let any light in at all. There wasn’t a plug socket anywhere near a mirror so almost impossible to blow dry my hair.

Meet here regularly with a group of friends. Quality and service has deteriorated over the last few visits. Placed in the bar area for food with not enough seats for our reservation and had to be split into two groups. Chose the Sea bass and not substantial enough for a main course. ( a single fillet on a few new potatoes and spinach ) Other meals were similar. Possibly ok if you are having several courses. Prices of drinks raise an eyebrow and toilet facilities were disgusting in the gents with toilets not working and flooding on the floor. In no rush to arrange another night here.

I booked the minster arms for a special meal out with family who were visiting and i can't emphasise enough how disapointed i was. The booking started well, the table was ready and the waiting staff seemed pleasant and friendly, it was a Saturday night but it certainly wasn't busy, probably only half full, we sat down for 8pm and our drink and food order was taken fairly quickly. We ordered a selection from the apertif section of the menu and our main meals by 8.15

I'm a regular here. Calm relaxed candle lit atmosphere and a log fire in winter The food is cooked to order as it should be and although the wait for food can be a little long and should be addressed by the owners the food is always worth the wait. Especially the fish.....always cooked very well. Peanut butter parfait is to die for.

We went hear on a Saturday for lunch. I used to come regularly a long time ago and assumed it would still be the same quality. Unfortunately the food was awful. I've never complained or returned a meal before but I ordered the bacon and brie ciabatta and when it arrived it was just in a bun and it was freezing cold and the bacon was pale pink and white. I returned it purely for the fact it was a health hazard. The staff were polite and took it of my bill but I could tell as we left they didn't seem to understand why I had returned it and this was worrying as they will probably carry on providing this for other people wh Could end up very ill. My partner ordered the chicken burger which was £16 and it was reheated frozen chicken and so burnt the waitress gave it to my vegetarian daughter thinking it was the vegetarian option. Its such a shame as it used to be lovely here and you could tell the staff were very stressed and unhappy hence why I only returned the uncooked meal. We just paid for the rest and left. It's such a shame as it could be a lovely place to eat like the Lamb inn in Christchurch which is lovely fresh cooked food and cheaper.

The four of us arrived at 6.30 pm as booked. Drinks were ordered and delivered ok. Then a large group of folk came in, and received immediate attention. We waited over an hour to order our meals, in the meantime, the large group ordered and were served their meals . I complained to the owner, who apologized , but said that the group had pre ordered their meals! Our order then arrived very promptly , but two hours after our arrival. The venue was noisy, and conversation very difficult. Won't be going on a Saturday evening again..big mistake. But the food was excellent to be honest.

What a beautiful ambience, then there is the excellent home cooked food. The 3 of us enjoyed a different main course and cleared our plates. David is a dedicated owner, chef and exceptional host. Good wines too and comfortable clean surroundings. Dawn has a lovely welcoming personality.
