Enjoyed an authentic British pub lunch here on our first day in England on our drive to Bath. Perfect place to get us ready for our British adventure! Toasties and Guinness! It was very cozy and traditional inside. Service was friendly and attentive and the food was really good and reasonably priced. Toasties, we learned, are basically grilled cheese sandwiches but with modifications. This one included small bits of white onion and was really good with the fries! We also enjoyed their sister restaurant in Bath, the Pig and Fiddle in Bath which was also quite good but their Toasties had green scallions! Recommend both for a quick, tasty lunch!

Awful, was expecting a really nice carvery as it used to be, the place has really gone downhill, I’m convinced all the food was yesterdays warmed up, 12:30 was our booking Meat was ok, that’s it, everything was so dry the cauliflower cheese was dried to the tin, only stumps left, the dauphinois were again stuck to the pan and dried out We were given the wrong wine, the lager was ok, we didn’t complain just paid our money, left and they won’t be seeing us again

We chose to ignore the bad reviews and try it anyway. In a positive note, my son enjoyed his Full English breakfast. However, my veggie sausages were 'cremated' rendering them inedible and my eggs were burnt on the bottom. My husband's fried egg bap had cheese in it. Glad he's not dairy intolerant. I only enjoyed the bottled orange juice. Definitely a tourist trap because of where it is and people probably won't read reviews before going in. Young staff were pleasant enough but looked like they'd rather be somewhere else. £38 for 3 of us for breakfast, pretty awful really.

We went in here for a drink over the Christmas period and as soon as we walked inside we were greeted by very rude and unfriendly bar staff, because we had a pushchair. Following that the same member of star was rude to a 7 year old because he was in the bar area. We understood that it is a small pub, however the hostility was completely unjustified, so would not recommend this pub to anyone who isn’t a local

Had lunch here and the food was really delicious, service was slow taking plates away but I would highly recommend the food. I had Camembert and mango soufflé, both were very tasty!! I did not stay in the hotel but it looked very nice from the parts of it I saw. Also there is a lovely view from the terrace where you can sit and have a drink.

I'm truly saddened to learn about the closure of this venue. Whenever I visited Bristol for work, it was my top choice for dining. The staff here has consistently exceeded my expectations, with many of them having been a part of my visits for years. Issy, Daniel and Luke have consistently delivered exceptional service, always greeting me with a warm smile and a touch of humor. Their natural ability in customer service is remarkable. As this chapter closes, I can only hope that they find suitable employment in a similar industry where their talents can continue to shine. This establishment has consistently provided great quality and value in both food and drinks, making it a memorable part of my Bristol experiences.

Helen at The Rising Sun in Cleeve Hill Cheltenham is an asset to the establishment & Greene King in general. She always goes above & beyond in customer service, making me & my colleagues feel very welcome over the past 18 months & we will continue to visit because of her. Keep up the good work!!
