Utterly Disappointing Experience at Harvester The Griffin, I’m not even sure where to begin ,we booked afternoon table for lunch at Harvester T/G and the experience was beyond disappointing. The service from the staff was appalling. A waitress came to our table to take our order, only to walk off mid-process, chat with her colleagues, and completely forget about us. We ended up being served by about 5–6 different waiters, each of whom made mistakes when delivering our food. There were seven of us dining, and every single person received their meal at a different time. It was chaotic and incredibly frustrating. When it came time to order desserts, things somehow got even worse. We waited over 30 minutes for our puddings, and when they finally arrived, every single order was wrong and they still came out at different times. When my Ice-cream arrived it looked like soup. YES it was that bad The staff clearly have no idea what customer service means. Most of them spent the afternoon standing behind the counter chatting with each other while ignoring customers. The food itself was mediocre at best, which added to the disappointment. Please save your money and avoid this place. If this level of service continues, I wouldn’t be surprised if they shut down permanently. Absolutely disgusting service. “Management” Please consider this review as constructive feedback rather than criticism. We kindly request that you refrain from responding with an apology, as we heard "sorry" repeatedly from your staff throughout the afternoon. A truly exceptional service experience from the outset would have prompted me to leave a positive review instead.

A WORD OF WARNING. I went there for a meal which was very good. However I have now received a parking charge of £100. The staff said nothing, and the signage is very poor. In my view it is the first thing the staff should do upon entry, is to advise you have to book your vehicle details in their system. Nothing was said throughout the meal, not even when they brought the bill. When I phoned the Harvester to check whether this parking charge was genuine, the person at the Harvester said this happens a lot and people have complained to them. I was told the staff are supposed to tell customers, but sometimes they forget or are just too busy.

Had just been to the nearby NHS Diagnostic Centre and thought might as well drop in for lunch. Car park virtually empty, parked up and spotted the parking warning signs and wondered if you eat in you get free parking. Couldnt see that info so went into to ask and get a table. Waiter said they are fully booked for another hour (seemed only 40% full), and not to worry about parking. Thought better of it and went home for a McD's instead.

Thought we would give a try again as the monkton inn looked busy looked nicely all done up but the food was shocking the salad bar looked tired bread rolls dry chicken was nice ribs really burnt wife couldn't eat it her plate went back looking how it came out no corn on the cob really dissatisfied wont be using again bad experience th

No chicken breast available. Waiter didn’t inform us until after spending time getting order choices from the children, so had to rush a second choice and chicken is sort of one of the reasons you go to harvester. Poor service at table, lack of serviettes, customer service. Because of signal and poor Wi-Fi unable to collect stamp on harvester app under rewards. Then made to feel awkward with tip system on card machine, need to do the basics well and go that extra step to get tips, All a bit disappointing for the money. Food and drink we had was hot and tasty though.

Absolutely disgusting behaviour by staff telling people to get out absolutely horrendous language from staff to customers awful won’t go again

Normally great service, but yesterday was awful bar staff swearing, refusing to serve customers cause they were laugh at the staff arguing! Telling customers where to go why would you want to take your family there.

Visited for my daughters birthday as she LOVES the salad bar. Sad to say that we won't be hurrying back for a visit which is so disappointing as we usually have no worries. Portion sizes of both our children's meals were ridiculous and the food had literally been chucked on the plate. I counted 9 chips on my youngest plate which was a bigger bites choice. We were also left for 25 mins after being shown to our table before even our drinks order was taken. I wouldn't have mind so much if they had been busy but when you witness 5 members of staff standing around talking and dancing in pretty much an empty restaurant then it felt like they were taking the mick a bit. Such a shame!

Breakfast shift was top class today, Dan was fast and furious (in a good way) and he was friendly food was standard, everything I expected

What a lovely lunch, lovely staff, food was amazing, so glad we came today. Our waitress Grace was so friendly and kind, she really couldn’t do enough for us. She even helped us set up the app so we could get the £8 Chicken deal. Thank you so much Grace for a lovely experience. We will be back soon.

Came today with my partner for a late lunch. Our meals were delicious and the restaurant is lovely and clean. Our waitress Grace was attentive and couldn’t do enough for us, what a lovely girl such a credit to your team.

Food was average, service was great, Alexandra, but two mums with 3 loud and unruly kids arrived and were put next to my table and in between other families and couples, the mothers had no control and didn’t care how loud their children were, screaming, banging on tables and running around , me, my daughter and elderly parents did not enjoy our meals and couldn’t wait to finish and get out of there , it’s a shame as this was a birthday occasion and it was ruined by disrespectful parents. My advice would be not to put kids next to customers already seated and have ordered and my table and the surrounding ones would of enjoyed the experience a lot more

Met my friend for lunch on Friday the 8th of March, was a little dubious at first as never been to a Harvester but I have to say I was more than pleasantly surprised. Food was very good and the overall experience of the building was very pleasing. Our waiter though very busy made time to deal with out requests and was very efficient and at times extremely funny, people don't realise it's service that makes an experience special and I have to say we had that, I don't know the waiters name but quite a stocky gentleman with a bun and tattoos. I will return again when me and my friend meet

Great service, a little slower to take food order but drinks were taken straight away and the young man serving us explained he had a couple of tables before us. Even though the Gent in question had a couple of challenging tables he remained smiling throughout. Food was good and building was very nice. All in all a very good experience, please pass our thanks to our waiter (lots of tattoos)

Very disappointed, booked table and were running late, asked to wait at bar and would come for us ASAP. Had I not noticed that the couple next waiting were about to be seated we would have lost our table and god knows how much longer we would have waited. We were seated 20 mins late. Salad bar was poorly stocked and I had to ask for sauce to be refilled. Starter was OK and main mediocre at best. Not at all what I expected. To top things off toilet had no toilet paper, and when I reported this was asked if the other one had, as if that was my job to check!!! Will not be making a return visit unfortunately. Only saving grace was server who was very nice.

Lovely food during lunch with friends. Bogdan was very friendly and welcoming, made everyone feel comfortable and made us laugh throughout the visit.

As we were staying at the Holiday Inn Express on 1st March we ate at the Griffin late afternoon. We were served by a very nice waiter called Bogdan. He was extremely friendly & professional with a good sense of humour. He made our dining experience very pleasurable

What to say that's good about this place...nothing Worst service that i have ever had the pleasure to be subjected too. If your staying the the holiday inn next door don't bother entering this establishment and walk the 10 minutes to a pub nearby. Unless you have a restaurant reservation they will ignore you and show you to the bar area littered with used and stacked plates of discarded food that are somehow being offered to the god of poor service. And i do mean Ignore you , i watched people clean their own tables. You're like a leper because you didn't order a place at the restaurant, Go over there and sit, don't look at us either! The food is mediocre at best and that's being increasingly polite. my steak came on a plate that was wider than the amazon with enough spaces between the food to park my car in and the single mushroom was larger and thicker than the than the aforementioned steak. the onion rings looked that had been raised on a vegan best wishes with a sprinkling of "guess what you thought you were going to get". The fries, as i wont sully the name of decent chips here !, were leaner than a surprise box of Mc'dee bleached potatoes shavings and I could carbon date my Tomatoes All in all not a bad attempt to make me want to never darken its doors again. But even then they went far and beyond and reached somewhere deep inside themselves and brought the whole plate of offerings out Stone cold. I'm not surprised, they did take over an hour to serve me after id ordered my fault though i was under the impression the place served edible food. Now I'm sure if you're a good boy and girl and reserve a table at the food trough you'll get service but why oh why would you want too. Oh and don't bother complaining, customer service, ha joke their not interested at all they don't call or send an email, but then have the gall to send you a HOW DID WE DO Email.. All in all id say 0/10 , I would say try harder, but they might think they weren't bad enough......

went here for a post-valentines meal. website gave us the next available time for a table of 8:15pm which was quite late for us but I booked. When I re-checked at 6pm if we could arrive earlier, all the evenings times had been released and were available, i thought this was odd. When we arrived we could not order chicken and there was a partly packed up salad bar and there were no dressings at the salad bar (only sauces). very disappointing as the sign at the salad bar we saw when leaving says something about being well stocked. Portion size was very small for both of us with the burger and chips, i could see more plate than food. Food did taste nice but felt ripped off. Staff tried to help when we asked for salad dressings and cutlery but you could tell they were really overworked and understaffed. There was no more salad dressing available. I first visited this restaurant before 2000 and have visited many many times since but this was the first really disappointing visit to here in 24+ years. I feel like head office is not giving you enough ££ to run properly.
