Just had a lovely roast and dessert. Felt very welcomed by Karen on our arrival. After the meal we were greeted by the new friendly Manager. Looks like we could be in for some lovely changes. We wish him well in his new venture.

Usually a good carvery with lovely tender meat. This week was awful. The beef was so tough that I left most of it. Gravy full of lumps and potatoes burnt. Seems to be all new staff who weren't particularly interested . Was told my comments about the meat would be passed on but no apology given.

Midday Tuesday Roast for 2. Excellent on all levels. Especially all the helpful and polite staff. Easy 5 star review, very many thanks, although now too stuffed to move.

Great place, let down by a bad server that had to go back and forth 4 times and, at one point, told my daughter to "be quiet a minute and let me finish before I forget" And after all that the food was average at best.

Great buffet breakfast, great central meeting place for a catch up with friends before Christmas. Food was fresh, hot and delicious. We were able to bring our small dog who sat under the table beautifully! It would be nice to see dog treats and water bowls available for precious pooches!

We booked for a large family group of 15 for a Boxing Day 3 course meal. This included 13 adults and 2 children’s meals. We phoned weeks in advance to make the reservation. Then heard nothing for many weeks expecting an email to complete the pre-order meal choices. I had to call days prior to the main days as I had heard nothing via email. The email I received wouldn’t allow the pre-order to accepted or for the deposit to be paid. I had to go in person to make payment and give pre-orders. Sadly this is just the start of the bad experience. On the day we arrived 15minutes early like advised. We sat and our drink orders were taken and then there were missing drinks! We waiting 45minutes before I approached one of the staff to ask about the starters coming out! The younger lady who brought some of the meals out was quite abrupt when asking who’s meals were who’s! The starter meals were ok as far as we were all concerned. The main meals were not great in general. The chicken stack meal which my daughter had was very dry & rubbery and part inedible. The carvery meats were nice fresh and good proportions - that’s the good bit, but the potatoes were extremely dry and some looked like they had been there all day. There wasn’t a great selection of vegetables to accompany the carvery either. No cauliflower, no sprouts, no broccoli or parsnips. This was suppose to be a Xmas carvery and it was just dry and underwhelming. Then the pre-order desserts!!! A member of staff came back to our table and advised us that they had ran out of some of the pre-order desserts! There was no Brownie, Xmas pudding or toffee pudding & these were the main orders on our group booking. We were offered alternatives but by this point no one could be bothered to wait for a substitute dessert as we were all disappointed. I paid for the 2 courses which everyone had and we left feeling very dissatisfied with our Boxing Day family Xmas get together meal. The whole meal and drinks came to £327.77 but this did not include additional drinks which were purchased at the bar due to the poor staff table service. Disappointed 😞

Went to the lord louis today about 11am there was me and 3 other people, when we all got to the main door It was locked on the maps, it said it would be open, but it was not. That is classed as false advertisement they better get the times right on the maps and the internet because googles and trading standards can have them for it.

Friendly efficient service, from the gentleman that served us when we entered (he was being extremely patient with an elderly couple who were having difficulty accessing a voucher on their mobile!) , to the lovely lady behind the carvery, and the rest of the wait staff.

We visited yesterday due to convienience of location. We haven't been for a number of years due to poor hygiene observed previously. It was very much improved this time and more friendly staff. Only let down was the carver woman was quite condescending.

Went to get roast which was lovely cooked well turkey was cooked perfect and roast potatoes crispy and soft the way I like it served by a lovely girl called Emmy very pleasant and helpful lovely woman.

Came here for a mid week breakfast buffet, staff were very polite and welcoming. The place was clean and tidy. The food was very good, we had a few breakfast buffets around Plymouth but I never went back for another, however I will be going back to The Lord Louis. Spoke with one of the cooks and he was very proud of the food he served and it showed in the quality.

A special review for Kirsty on the front desk, she made arrangements for my family to eat after we didn’t book and was very accommodating for both my baby and disabled dad. All staff were lovely. Thank you!

Absolutely amazing I came here this morning for breakfast with my little boy and my friend and her nephew, I can honestly say one of the best breakfasts the eggs were cooked to perfection nice and runny, the mushrooms were cooked so nicely I’ve been to places and the mushrooms taste disgusting I will 100% be back again

We came for a breakfast, 3 of us. 2 adults and our 8 year old son. For refill coffee x 2, large Pepsi max, 2 adult plates and 1 child it was just under £27. Fantastic price. Our son loved the attention from the ladies so thank you. Was very comfortable and a relaxing atmosphere before day of shopping. Highly recommend

Stopped for a drink only (hence no review for food) on the way back from clay pigeon shooting up the road. The prices were very reasonable and the pub itself looked really good inside and out. Would recommend.

First time back to this place since it's referb. So disappointing. Busy when we got here at 6 but the lad on the desk was polite and got us in easily. Food was great for the price but then came deserts - one hour wait in an empty pub for three sundaes! A group had a laugh with us about how they had the same. In the end we got a refund - girl told the manager that kitchen was closed so they binned it! No apology really! What was interesting was watching the kitchen (in the window reflection of the resturant) closing down the kitchen and members of staff emptying bins rather than acknowledging their customers sat with no food or drink on the table. One of our favourites though had to be a female member of staff constantly checking her watch at 1850 (we assume she finished at 1900) whilst standing staring at the till as if that would give her the meaning of life! Won't be returning, life's too short!

Came for a family meal few weeks ago - no pizzas available. I’m glad I’m not allergic to anything as I ordered the vegan burger which then came with the halloumi on it (the veggie version on the menu) also the mayo and chips which appreabtly weren’t vegan either as it’s meant to come with wedges for the vegan version. So they took it back and it came back pretty quick with the halloumi removed and different salad. At that speed I’m assuming it wasn’t a new patty (but maybe it is that quick…?) if not good job I didn’t have a dairy allergy Still came with chips and and same sauce which wasn’t what was on the menu & the chip were tasteless :( Was incredibly busy and noisy, but was a weekend so was semi-expected. Usually like the sizzling group(or stone house as they are now called), but this experience wasn’t great sadly

Absolutely love this place every time we go! Karen has been our waitress several times and is just amazing with our little ones bringing them crayons and chatting with them letting them order their own food. Although all the other staff are very smiley and friendly. The food is so yummy, we love the pizzas and caravary (pizza oven broken this week). But my hubby is veggie and loves the beyond burger and root veg tart.

Nice friendly staff ,don't be made to feel you got to be rushed ,great that you now do a vegan and vegetarian option both cotain protien ,also be good to do gluten free stuffing, Yorkshire pudding ,and gravy.staff really looked after me.im a crutches user and suffer anxiety.
