Food was lovely and Karen was our table service she was amazing.

We were served by Karen who was absolutely delightful, thank you 😊

First time back to this place since it's referb. So disappointing. Busy when we got here at 6 but the lad on the desk was polite and got us in easily. Food was great for the price but then came deserts - one hour wait in an empty pub for three sundaes! A group had a laugh with us about how they had the same. In the end we got a refund - girl told the manager that kitchen was closed so they binned it! No apology really! What was interesting was watching the kitchen (in the window reflection of the resturant) closing down the kitchen and members of staff emptying bins rather than acknowledging their customers sat with no food or drink on the table. One of our favourites though had to be a female member of staff constantly checking her watch at 1850 (we assume she finished at 1900) whilst standing staring at the till as if that would give her the meaning of life! Won't be returning, life's too short!

Had a Fantastic breakfast this morning, plenty of food choice and wonderfully cooked. Brilliant customer service received by Karen and Scott was made to feel welcome and nothing was too much hassle for them

Came for a family meal few weeks ago - no pizzas available. I’m glad I’m not allergic to anything as I ordered the vegan burger which then came with the halloumi on it (the veggie version on the menu) also the mayo and chips which appreabtly weren’t vegan either as it’s meant to come with wedges for the vegan version. So they took it back and it came back pretty quick with the halloumi removed and different salad. At that speed I’m assuming it wasn’t a new patty (but maybe it is that quick…?) if not good job I didn’t have a dairy allergy Still came with chips and and same sauce which wasn’t what was on the menu & the chip were tasteless :( Was incredibly busy and noisy, but was a weekend so was semi-expected. Usually like the sizzling group(or stone house as they are now called), but this experience wasn’t great sadly

Nice friendly staff ,don't be made to feel you got to be rushed ,great that you now do a vegan and vegetarian option both cotain protien ,also be good to do gluten free stuffing, Yorkshire pudding ,and gravy.staff really looked after me.im a crutches user and suffer anxiety. But felt safe and comfortable to come here on my own

Came for breakfast, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Karen was so helpful and friendly. Ryan even cooked the bacon more for the wife as she likes it crispy. We will be back for more.

Had a lovely lady serve us today called karen. She was lovely and friendly. Young lad in the kitchen took my bacon and crisped it up for me .thank you young man. Food was hot and filling.

Absolutely love this place every time we go! Karen has been our waitress several times and is just amazing with our little ones bringing them crayons and chatting with them letting them order their own food. Although all the other staff are very smiley and friendly. The food is so yummy, we love the pizzas and caravary (pizza oven broken this week). But my hubby is veggie and loves the beyond burger and root veg tart.

Not been for a while but Came in for breakfast greeted by Kaz who was lovely and checked we had everything we needed, food was lovely with Chef Ryan making sure everything was topped up was very cheery, funny and professional backed up by James aka ‘bob’ who also took the time to talk to us and have a laugh. The food was very nice, not dripping with fat and partner stated the black pudding was the best he had- not dry at all like other places can be, well presented and freshly cooked with constantly being topped up rather than lots of food sitting for a long time and without a long wait in between top ups! £5.99 for carvery style breakfast- weekends is £1 more but you get more- waffles, yorkie pudding, bubble and squeak ect

Last year, this place would have had 5 stars all round. We came back because we had enjoyed it so much. What a turnaround... food was mildly warm, yet the handles of the spatulas were red hot against your hand. The food was dried out, grisly, and the worst potatoes I have ever had! It tasted worse than cardboard. Absolutely gutted. No smiles or happy greetings from any of the staff either. Please bring back the staff from last year, they knew how to treat customers and how to cook!

The friendly face/smile from Kaz on entry was the best part of the visit today, but the breakfast was thoroughly enjoyed regardless.

Only gammon available it was very dry told one of the staff and she just smiled and walked away £9 for carvery is pricey Shame as it used to be such a good place

Terrible no mash no pizza. Beef was full of fat hard to chew roast potatoes hard uncooked ìn middle veg was OK in fact that's best part of dinner and I'm not big on veg but that's all they had. So my opinion is terrible dinner won't be going back.

Amazing host pre and post bike ride to Tavistock and back. Great breakfast before and superb wings and chicken “sharer” when I got back. Char, kaz and Benjamin super helpful.

Tasty food and the BBQ chicken burger for delicious. The staff are friendly but kaz who served me was exceptional and put the little touches on drinks. The Place is very welcoming and I would consider to anyone.

Great food, normally have the carvery but tried the pizza today. Very delicious! Nice, friendly and helpful staff.

We didn’t get there till about 7:30pm but the food was dry. There were no Yorkshire puddings left but some were being made and was told they’d bring it over but never did. Staff were unprofessional with the way they were talking to each and some of the chat that was going on

We arrived and was greeted by Ben. He served our food and drinks and he was very helpful and polite. I was impressed with him fully.

One member of staff trying to carve meat and replenish veg dishes and there was a large queue. Mash Swede and cauliflower cheese not seasoned - bland. Beef was coming to the end and was fatty.

We haven't been here in years but we went today, a midweek evening, and it was very quiet, but we had a great time. The food was lovely, we didn't have to wait ages for it and it was all delivered together. We were a table of 8, 2 being children so having our food delivered together was really good. Our server was really nice, enthusiastic, and very helpful. Fantastic prices. Their pizza pinwheels starter was so delicious, and the Brownies were huge, so we felt very much like we got a lot for our money. Will definitely go again.

Worst carvery we have ever had. Restaurant not busy so food had been left under the heat lamps too long! Roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, mash, and something next to it (not sure what it was as dried up) all hard and tough! Ate a few mouthfuls and then gave up. Waitress very nice but would have appreciated a refund. Very disappointed ! You need to do better and not get lazy. We are not stupid.

The carvery was horrible and dry, the meat that got put on my plate was the scraps that had been sat on the side for ages I got over charged Discounts on the app wasnt working on the till so i had to pay full price Never going there again , too expensive with how boring the food is and not a wide selection on the carvery

Only one option of meat on the carvery which we weren't told about before ordering. My son's meal arrived so I went to the carvery station, only to find the one meat had run out and I had to wait 5 minutes for more to come out. By the time I got back with my plate of slushy mash my son had finished his meal. He had to sit and eat on his own. The app wasn't working well as signal poor. Drinks arrived incorrectly and when I ordered dessert for my son, his sundae arrived with a hair in it. I wanted to complain but the only waitress there was run ragged so we just left.

Great value carvery but that have starting rationing the meat they carve you!!

Karen, our waitress, was lovely and very helpful, friendly and efficient. Despite being fairly busy, drinks and food came within reasonably short timeframes and the food itself was well cooked and good quality for the price too.

I had a brilliant meal and the staff were great, they would do anything for you but I had two problems. First being disabled I found it impossible to park, they have a very large Carpark but only a small number of disabled parking spaces hence it took me ages to get a suitable parking space. Secondly, the restaurant was like a sauna due to the filthy ceiling blowers not being used, no doubt due to cost of use or repairs. It’s for these two reasons I give this a 4 star but would most definitely come back.

We were served by Karen who was lovely and tried everything she could to help get apple juice out of my trousers when it was spilt on me. She couldn't do enough to help us through our meal.

Not as good as it used to be. Only have 3 meats now and less veg for the carvery. Food is not as good as it used to be. Tastes like they are using sub standard ingredients Been back today and the food was good. Nice choice of veg and the meat was really good especially the beef.

Service was appalling, food brought out in dribs and drabs. My mum was still waiting for her pizza whilst 5 of us had finished eating. Carvery was cold, meat was ok tasting but veg was stodgy and had no flavor. The lady serving our table was completely miserable and we had to keep asking for things she had forgotten to bring out. My nieces chicken burger arrived as a beef burger she then had to wait 20 mins for it to be changed. I have been coming to the Lord Louis for years and thought it was somewhere I could guarantee my family got a good feed whilst on there holiday but it was the worst food and service I have ever had. I will not be coming back.

I took my daughter here for breakfast. There was hardly any bacon left and it was clearly old as it was very rubbery and chewy. The beans were half cold. I didn't see anyone come and put new food out the whole time I was there. A family came in and were waiting at the bar for quite a long time and no staff were around. In the end one of them had to go to the kitchen to ask if someone could serve them, very poor customer service I thought. I usually go to the Toby Cavery at Roborough but I tried to Lord Louis as it is closer. I think I'd rather drive out to the Toby Carvery in future. However it was clean and quiet. They could do with slightly brighter lights as it seemed a little dull. The woman who served us was friendly and polite. After reading the other reviews, I think I know why it was so quiet. Many many 1 star reviews with comments from the owner apologising. These go back to over a year and clearly nothing changes so I won't be going back to the Lord Louis and I won't waste my time for a carvery there, which used to be my favourite place for this.

Karen was super friendly and very apologetic as we got a bit ignored because there was a manic rush, Karen seemed to be running the place on her own with no help, so staffing needs to be sorted. The food was average, the cats thoroughly enjoyed the meat we brought back with us, the Yorkshire puds looked deflated and tasted like rubber, the carrots were lovely and soft and the roast potatoes were OK, I did eat everything on my plate as everything was edible but not especially memorable.

Great food cooked to perfection and served by Holly, a real asset to them. Restaurant is clean and tidy. Staff are all pleasant. Beer is good. Toilets are clean. But Holly is a great reason to return. She carves beautifully and gives exactly what and how you like it.

Thank you Karen and James. Service was great. Food just keeps getting better. All the veg were perfect. Meat was cooked to perfection and very tasty. Baby bowl is a great touch. Just had breakfast with wife and son (27/3/24) -best breakfast anywhere in Plymouth. Looked after royally by Kaz. Standards here always seem to be maintained or improved. Thank you. Standard still high 23/8/2024 carvery was superb. Staff were friendly and attentive. Lady chef was excellent. Food perfect.

When we arrived we were seen to quickly and shown to our table. The chap who I believe was called Dave was attentive, friendly and helpful. We had a carvery which was lovely and hot. The carver was polite. At the end when we paid we were served by a chap who I think is called Ben? Very helpful and friendly.

Carvery was quick and excellent as always, ordered food a little longer but was very busy for the few staff there. Not pricey but always consistent. Accommodating for a group of 8 who just walked through the door too!

We’ve always like the Lord Louie but it seems it’s struggling a bit? The food is ok although we were a bit sad my daughter could only have 1 meat with her child carvery. Service at the bar was ok and the staff there were friendly. The reason why I’m giving them 2 stars is the cleanliness of the women’s toilets. They are absolutely disgusting! Massive build up of stains on the toilet floors, broken hand soap dispensers and they all look like the cubicles are in need of a complete overhaul. I know it’s a busy pub but some of the dirt is not new. This really needs sorting out, it does make me think about what the other back areas look like.

We were well welcomed and served efficiently. The food was ok and plentiful.

Booked a table for 7 and was only given a table for 6. Luckily one of our party couldn't attend so no fuss needed to be made. Potatoes were really overcooked, and cauliflower cheese was cold. Didn't see a single member of staff to be able to let them know. In good news, the young lady serving the carvery was really lovely and welcoming.
