Excellent breakfast service Kaz anc Ben were very friendly and helpful. My daughter is hard to please with food but they could not do more to ensure she had everything she needed.

Terrible no mash no pizza. Beef was full of fat hard to chew roast potatoes hard uncooked ìn middle veg was OK in fact that's best part of dinner and I'm not big on veg but that's all they had. So my opinion is terrible dinner won't be going back.

Amazing host pre and post bike ride to Tavistock and back. Great breakfast before and superb wings and chicken “sharer” when I got back. Char, kaz and Benjamin super helpful.

Tasty food and the BBQ chicken burger for delicious. The staff are friendly but kaz who served me was exceptional and put the little touches on drinks. The Place is very welcoming and I would consider to anyone.

Good food for the price, lovely staff especially our server Ben who made sure we had everything we needed and were happy with our meals. Always leave satisfied with our experience here:)

We didn’t get there till about 7:30pm but the food was dry. There were no Yorkshire puddings left but some were being made and was told they’d bring it over but never did. Staff were unprofessional with the way they were talking to each and some of the chat that was going on

Worst carvery we have ever had. Restaurant not busy so food had been left under the heat lamps too long! Roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, mash, and something next to it (not sure what it was as dried up) all hard and tough! Ate a few mouthfuls and then gave up. Waitress very nice but would have appreciated a refund. Very disappointed ! You need to do better and not get lazy. We are not stupid.

We haven't been here in years but we went today, a midweek evening, and it was very quiet, but we had a great time. The food was lovely, we didn't have to wait ages for it and it was all delivered together. We were a table of 8, 2 being children so having our food delivered together was really good. Our server was really nice, enthusiastic, and very helpful. Fantastic prices. Their pizza pinwheels starter was so delicious, and the Brownies were huge, so we felt very much like we got a lot for our money. Will definitely go again.

One member of staff trying to carve meat and replenish veg dishes and there was a large queue. Mash Swede and cauliflower cheese not seasoned - bland. Beef was coming to the end and was fatty.

The carvery was horrible and dry, the meat that got put on my plate was the scraps that had been sat on the side for ages I got over charged Discounts on the app wasnt working on the till so i had to pay full price Never going there again , too expensive with how boring the food is and not a wide selection on the carvery

Only one option of meat on the carvery which we weren't told about before ordering. My son's meal arrived so I went to the carvery station, only to find the one meat had run out and I had to wait 5 minutes for more to come out. By the time I got back with my plate of slushy mash my son had finished his meal. He had to sit and eat on his own. The app wasn't working well as signal poor. Drinks arrived incorrectly and when I ordered dessert for my son, his sundae arrived with a hair in it. I wanted to complain but the only waitress there was run ragged so we just left.

Great value carvery but that have starting rationing the meat they carve you!!

Karen, our waitress, was lovely and very helpful, friendly and efficient. Despite being fairly busy, drinks and food came within reasonably short timeframes and the food itself was well cooked and good quality for the price too.

I had a brilliant meal and the staff were great, they would do anything for you but I had two problems. First being disabled I found it impossible to park, they have a very large Carpark but only a small number of disabled parking spaces hence it took me ages to get a suitable parking space. Secondly, the restaurant was like a sauna due to the filthy ceiling blowers not being used, no doubt due to cost of use or repairs. It’s for these two reasons I give this a 4 star but would most definitely come back.

We were served by Karen who was lovely and tried everything she could to help get apple juice out of my trousers when it was spilt on me. She couldn't do enough to help us through our meal.

Not as good as it used to be. Only have 3 meats now and less veg for the carvery. Food is not as good as it used to be. Tastes like they are using sub standard ingredients Been back today and the food was good. Nice choice of veg and the meat was really good especially the beef.

Service was appalling, food brought out in dribs and drabs. My mum was still waiting for her pizza whilst 5 of us had finished eating. Carvery was cold, meat was ok tasting but veg was stodgy and had no flavor. The lady serving our table was completely miserable and we had to keep asking for things she had forgotten to bring out. My nieces chicken burger arrived as a beef burger she then had to wait 20 mins for it to be changed. I have been coming to the Lord Louis for years and thought it was somewhere I could guarantee my family got a good feed whilst on there holiday but it was the worst food and service I have ever had. I will not be coming back.

Karen was super friendly and very apologetic as we got a bit ignored because there was a manic rush, Karen seemed to be running the place on her own with no help, so staffing needs to be sorted. The food was average, the cats thoroughly enjoyed the meat we brought back with us, the Yorkshire puds looked deflated and tasted like rubber, the carrots were lovely and soft and the roast potatoes were OK, I did eat everything on my plate as everything was edible but not especially memorable.

I took my daughter here for breakfast. There was hardly any bacon left and it was clearly old as it was very rubbery and chewy. The beans were half cold. I didn't see anyone come and put new food out the whole time I was there. A family came in and were waiting at the bar for quite a long time and no staff were around. In the end one of them had to go to the kitchen to ask if someone could serve them, very poor customer service I thought. I usually go to the Toby Cavery at Roborough but I tried to Lord Louis as it is closer. I think I'd rather drive out to the Toby Carvery in future. However it was clean and quiet. They could do with slightly brighter lights as it seemed a little dull. The woman who served us was friendly and polite. After reading the other reviews, I think I know why it was so quiet. Many many 1 star reviews with comments from the owner apologising. These go back to over a year and clearly nothing changes so I won't be going back to the Lord Louis and I won't waste my time for a carvery there, which used to be my favourite place for this.

Great food cooked to perfection and served by Holly, a real asset to them. Restaurant is clean and tidy. Staff are all pleasant. Beer is good. Toilets are clean. But Holly is a great reason to return. She carves beautifully and gives exactly what and how you like it.

When we arrived we were seen to quickly and shown to our table. The chap who I believe was called Dave was attentive, friendly and helpful. We had a carvery which was lovely and hot. The carver was polite. At the end when we paid we were served by a chap who I think is called Ben? Very helpful and friendly.

Thank you Karen and James. Service was great. Food just keeps getting better. All the veg were perfect. Meat was cooked to perfection and very tasty. Baby bowl is a great touch. Just had breakfast with wife and son (27/3/24) -best breakfast anywhere in Plymouth. Looked after royally by Kaz. Standards here always seem to be maintained or improved. Thank you. Standard still high 23/8/2024 carvery was superb. Staff were friendly and attentive. Lady chef was excellent. Food perfect.

Carvery was quick and excellent as always, ordered food a little longer but was very busy for the few staff there. Not pricey but always consistent. Accommodating for a group of 8 who just walked through the door too!

We had Karen as our waitress and she was working her backside off as the only waitress on a very busy lunch service. She was absolutely brilliant throughout, a true credit to the company

We were well welcomed and served efficiently. The food was ok and plentiful.

We’ve always like the Lord Louie but it seems it’s struggling a bit? The food is ok although we were a bit sad my daughter could only have 1 meat with her child carvery. Service at the bar was ok and the staff there were friendly. The reason why I’m giving them 2 stars is the cleanliness of the women’s toilets. They are absolutely disgusting! Massive build up of stains on the toilet floors, broken hand soap dispensers and they all look like the cubicles are in need of a complete overhaul. I know it’s a busy pub but some of the dirt is not new. This really needs sorting out, it does make me think about what the other back areas look like.

Booked a table for 7 and was only given a table for 6. Luckily one of our party couldn't attend so no fuss needed to be made. Potatoes were really overcooked, and cauliflower cheese was cold. Didn't see a single member of staff to be able to let them know. In good news, the young lady serving the carvery was really lovely and welcoming.

Karen was very friendly and attentive. Food was great and she informed us that there were less meat options today before we ordered incase we wanted to change our options.

We were greeted by Karen, she was so friendly and patient with my children. The food was spot on, all cooked perfect and tasty.

Food and service was good. But the overall decor is getting severely dated and in need of an over haul, especially the booth seating areas (very stained)

Booked online for 8pm for dinner. Got there at 8pm to be told that you stop food at 8pm. So completely wasted journey. Why have the option to book if you are not serving?

Visited here with my parents last night, we had booked a table however there was no one else in the restaurant when we arrived. We were looking forward to trying the fresh pizzas, however all pizzas were unavailable due to running out of pizza dough... I would have appreciated someone informing us of this when we arrived as we would not have stayed and ordered drinks before checking out the menu No atmosphere and no pizzas... We left once we had finished our drinks and went somewhere else.

It was horrendous, the veg looked like it had been sat out for too long, all wrinkled and dry. Cauliflower and mash had a skin on it. There was no beef or turkey (we werent made aware or this until we went to get our meals), the sauces had run out. It was not like it used to be years ago. Definitly would not recommend at all.

Carvery OK but I expect to pay five quid less on account of the disgustingly sticky floor. Class....

We came for a Sunday carvery. The restaurant itself is nicely decoratedand clean, the staff were ok. The food was a big let down. The meat was quite fatty and the veg was so bland, even the cheesy leeks had no flavour. I paid £75 for 2 large carveries, 2 standard carveries and 4 drinks which I felt was overpriced for what was sub standard food.

I can’t really give a positive review on the meal, the table service was poor. The starters arrived and the crispy prawns were very crisps, 1 person had 4 prawns , the other person had 5 prawns, the garlic mushrooms were ok. However the starters were poorly presented and came just on some lettuce. It was the main course that was very different, to start the waitress arrived with our main courses but hadn’t cleared our starters so we had to do that for her. We asked for ketchup and mayonnaise but that took forever, Then the first burger arrived and I didn’t quite no what to think, as I thought the portion of chips may have been wrong but it wasn’t. we were also missing a bowl of roasted potatoes but instead of them arriving, the manager randomly came over and gave me £2.49 in change as a refund, and just said we are know sold out. Next one of the burgers was missing the upgrade to franks hot sauce fries, the chef who had brought out the burger said “it wasn’t on the ticket and no one told him”. Yes it was on the ticket. What appeared after about 10 mins is in the photo. I don’t think any real cheese was used on the meals (possibly on the pizzas), Burgers were very bland, i only ate half the burger and I couldn’t bring my self to eat the hot sauce fries. This was for a table of 6 for my son’s 16th birthday, it shouldn’t make a difference why we went, but I’m very disappointed. The only part where I can actually give a Positive and good review about was the woman/person who served us our drinks and took the order at the bar. She would get 5 stars!

Thought we would try this place as we had never been before, it was a week day and we were surprised to find the carvery available, it was hot and delicious, will definitely be back.

Came for a Sunday carvery. Was asked if we wanted pigs and blankets was then charged for them again as server made a “mistake “. Then had to repeat myself several times as chef was way with the fairies and made several mistakes. Absolutely ridiculous this place is not what it used to be. Definitely do not recommend and will not be coming again

Great value for money, really tasty food and good service.

The food was excellent - really tasty and good value for money. Staff were friendly. No real complaints, although it was disappointing there were no decaffeinated drinks available after dinner. I also think perhaps the inside could benefit from an update as the decor seems a bit dated. That said, it wouldn’t prevent us from coming again.

Diabolical today. Kids party bang slap in middle of restaurant. Fire alarms went off twice. No communication from staff whether real fire or reassurance it was not. Scrag ends fatty pre cut piece of beef left.would not get fresh piece out till this had gone. Female Carver's attitude terrible. Usually go there about 3 times a month.Time to look elsewhere I think.

This restaurant is in desperate need of a full refurbishment, the food is adequate.
