Me and my partner visited here during our holiday, it was last minute and we surprised and thrilled to be able to get a table. The food was out of this world. My partner had the full rack of ribs and the meat just fell off the bone. Melted in the mouth. We would 100% recommend this dish

I don't normally do reviews as not really that tech minded, but thought the meal I had and the service we were given deserved noting.My visit was with a colleague a few days ago, we were greeted at the entrance to the garden by a very helpful guy with a beard (didn't get his name unfortunately) who explained that if we were sitting in the garden we would need to order and pay through the company app, sorry website. As we found out the website can be a bit tricky but thanks to further assistance from the guy with the beard we got it sussed (seems we weren't the only ones as we watched him go to several other tables to help).We eventually managed to order Fish and Chips and a couple of DoomBars. The beers were brought out after a short wait by Mr Beardy (I wish I'd caught his name to give proper praise), this guy seems to be everywhere, greeting and helping guests, running drinks and even clearing the tables, during our hour or so there he hardly stopped. Fish and chips were brought out by a young lady and were possibly the best I have had in Torbay for a long time, batter not too crispy with a beautiful piece of fish inside and just enough chips. Both plates were left empty and after another DoomBar each, which also went down a treat, very well kept, we decided to head off.We will be back, and hopefully next time I'll get Mr Beardy's real name.

Tony the Beefeater manager was perhaps one of the rudest hospitality workers I have ever come across. We were completely ignored by him and his staff seeing other customers seated after us being served. We tried to order using the app but were only given our drinks after stopping an employee who passed our table twice to enquire and waiting over 30 minutes for our order. An online complaint has also been ignored by Beefeater which is very disappointing and explains how this man is able to operate clearly unchallenged!

We had a great experience at the beefeater last week when we were in Torquay. Our sever Charli (I think) was really friendly and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. Food was hot on arrival and presented well, well worth the money

A group of four of us visited beefeater last week and have been meaning to leave this review from the second we left. Great variety on the menu and very accommodating to peoples preferences or allergies. I ordered the steak which was cooked just how I had asked and was such a delicious meal - props to the chef. Food aside, I have to talk about the staff, always whizzing around the restaurant making sure everyone is ok and are enjoying there time there.(also covid safety measures were excellently adhered to - refreshing to see) We were served by a lovely young lady call Alicia - Apologies if that is spelled wrong but she really made us feel valued as customers and was so cheerful and attentive! Cant fault the place, Thanks beefeater for a memorable experience.

I took the family for a evening meal after a hard day of doing nothing. Tony greeted us and made us feel really welcome. The family ordered what they wanted and I had cheese burger and chips, it was the best burger I’ve had in a long time. I would highly recommend this restaurant, close proximity to the beach, excellent food and brilliant service. 5 stars and I will be back.

Ok so gave this place a 2 nd chance after my last awful review. God please help me in my mission NEVER to visit again. Fairly busy for 6pm on a weeknight but drinks served promptly which was a good start.Starters ( chicken wings and loaded skins arrive) Th skins were ok at best with very little topping but edible. The wings , well I simply didn’t know you can get wings from a fly and pass them off as chicken. Seriously though fried to death and about as much meat as you would expect from a single order of 1 wing and only £6 for the portion. Feel so ripped off it’s making me hungry . The mains 2 x burgers ( chicken and avocado) chicken breast possibly cooked about 10 times , rubbery, chewy and dry. Token piece of avocado and a portion (maybe 10) chips was for £14 an incompetent joke of a meal.(Sloppy Joe ) patty fell apart but not in a good way, grease dripping from the burger and the bun, well obviously mr chicken wings has moved over to the bun section now toasting it well past it’s usability. Chips were even more limited to a handful but don’t worry this only comes in around £12 ish.On top of all this the family jut inside asked for the door to be shut due to wind. Trouble is there were two doors , entrance and exit due to covid. Staff choose to close the entrance meaning All STAFF and customers used the exit only. Blatant doing COVID BREACH but nobody seemed to care or van think about moving the family to another table. Didn’t bother complaining just wanted to get out as soon as .Went for waffles straight after as we were still hungry.Make no mistake the 1 star is for the prompt service of the drinks and nothing else.AVOID AVOID AVOID

I’m not normally one to moan or write a bad review but felt after our experience last evening impelled to do so .We tried the main restaurant indoors but it was full and directed to the garden over from it , the young lady asked us to do track and trace pick a table and there was a twenty min wait in food and to down load the app to order .The app we didn’t find straight forward got there after a while we weren’t the only ones plenty of others seemed to be having difficulty to .So we had 3 drinks 3 starters and two mains and a child’s meal . Starters arrived no sight of drinks waited politely as you see this hard working man bringing tray after tray out to every table but no sign of ours, we finished our starters still no drinks and received our mains , all other tables arriving after us were getting there drinks no problem before us which started to grate on us table after table of people arriving and getting drinks , eventually asked twice about out drinks the young lady said there is a 45 min wait on drinks ! I found this hard to believe just own it ,it was overlooked no problem every one makes mistakes, the meal was disgusting ribs that were dried out even the sauce looked old and congealed on top of it half the food mentioned in the menu wasn’t even in your plate, I have to say it left me and my husband feeling sick even the drinks that took forever got left as it put us right off .Other concerns were COVID related people entering through exits only, mainly young adults running around the out side into buildings with no masks on and no consideration for others all social distancing out of the window I think majority of the staff that night were to young and even the more mature ones uninterested snapping at other customers who also were having trouble with there app honestly it was shocking ! Breakfast the next morning redeemed its self slightly indoors polite staff quick service , but sadly not returning ever !

Got turned away at 7.30 pm Sunday 39th May as there was not enough staff levels to accommodate two of us for drinks . The gentleman who spoke to us listed all the jobs that needed to be done as an explanation as to why he could not seat us Really get more staff on a weekend when the weather is nice and the crowds are expected

What are we, customers, looking at when we visit a restaurant? Just food or food + service? If it is just food, then this review is not meant to help you - because the food is really fresh, hot and delicious. But if it is the experience of great friendly staff, please do not hesitate to find another restaurant. We were two families - four adults and three children, just concluding our long weekend trip to Torquay, and we decided to visit The Beefeater, Belgrave for our parting dinner. Our waitress appeared grumpy, could not be less bothered in the service, no smiles or any warmth towards the children. A simple drink will take 10 minutes to arrive (the restaurant was empty when we sat down at 3 pm). Food was delicious, but not many of us go for just the food - its the service which makes the difference. Management should take notice. That is, if you care. Disappointing finale to a great holiday. To all who reads this review - there are plenty of restaurants around, who offer a really good service along with good food.

Day 1 of holiday, family too hungry to explore restaurants, thought that Beefeater would be good ‘known quantity’, very disappointed. Drinks menu came with NO prices for beer, soft drinks, spirits! I wanted a craft beer and asked for the price, waitress didn’t know, but helpfully went to the bar to ask and came back with a print out of bar prices unrelated to the drinks menu at the table. To repeat, a proper full colour menu, with no prices for drinks and no way of knowing if you’re being ripped off! Next paid £20 for ‘30 day aged’ rump steak. Steak was over cooked and dry, glad I didn’t spent £30 on T-bone. Got 1 large mushroom and some chips that were nothing to write home about! Wife’s chicken dry and uninspiring. Dessert was meringue pieces you could buy in a shop with a squirt of aerosol cream and 2 strawberries cut into quarters - not very impressedStaff were lovely

What can I say, what an amazing experience I’ve had, 5 star staff and 5 star food it was great. The host was very pleasant, and my waitress was very nice and friendly . Clean and tidy restaurant and very COVID safe. Will definitely be coming back soon in the near future.

On Tuesday the 25th we decided to have lunch at the Beefeater in Belgrave Road. We were met by a member of staff who said as soon as they had finished serving the meals he would show us to a table this he duly did. The waitress came and took our drinks order. After serving our drinks she then took our food order. The wait for our meals was not long. We both enjoyed the food which I think was reasonably priced. The service was excellent as were the Covid precautions. A return visit is on the cards.

Visited Bank Holiday weekend end of May . Prebooked table for family lunch to see my brother (he lives in a Care home in Torquay) for the first time since October 2020. My little brother is in a wheelchair and has special needs - he love visiting the Belgrave but hasn't been able to since Oct 2020. The restaurant is a standard Beefeater so you know the menu etc before you visit. What sets the Belgrave apart from being bog standard is the staff and the service the provide. Massive thanks to Tony and the team from Sat lunch for making my brother's lunch such a special occasion. 5 stars guys you were all amazing despite being busy you found time to ensure everything for us was perfect.

Visited at the weekend just as indoor sitting has been allowed. Arrived and they were fully booked (understandably) but was told if there were seats in the bar area we would be able to order. Ordered starters and mains, staff were very busy but polite and happy to help. Ordered arrived but due to a technical hitch, it was our mains not starters, staff offered to take the food away and start again, but hey we are on holiday let's mix it up, so we had mains first and then starters. Really not a problem for us, staff were very busy and trying their best, and I would rather eat our meals than have food thrown in the bin. Also staff all dressed in pj's raising money for charity, which was really nice to see. Would visit again and food was very nice and just under £45 for 2 mains and 2 starters and 2 drinks really good value.

Second day of our holiday and I fancied a steak. The Beefeater at the Belgrave hotel was close so we thought we'd give it a try. The thing about Beefeater restaurants is you always know what you are going to get. Simple, honest meal cooked consistently and with good standard service. Nothing fancy, no frills just a nice meal in reasonable surroundings. Of course at busy times you may have to wait longer than you would like but fortunately this wasn't the case for us.I had a basic 8 Oz sirloin medium rare and a Person, the partner had Cannelloni and a glass of Shiraz. Bill came to £29. Walked away satisfied. Happy days!

Had lunch and breakfast here as it was attached to the premier inn. Loaded potato skins for lunch awful just chips raw bacon had tasteless cheese. Flatbread was pizza base with insipid mayonnaise. Breakfast was just as bad chef couldn’t cook a poached egg either hard as rock or totally runny, ran out of all fruit by 8.30am. Service was good just the product poor

We visited 19th May just as the restaurant was reopening and coming out of lockdown. As expected there were a lot of new staff, some excellent and some who needed a little more training which was only to be expected. A very positive experience in all.We would like to mention waitress Rebecca and a new member of staff Emily who's first day it was they were absolutely exceptional. Emily will make a great asset to the Beefeater Team. Keep up the great work guys and hope to visit again soon

We came to this restaurant for a family congratulations meal and halfway through eating my meal from the kids menu (small appetite) I noticed mould on the food, and the waitress that served us treated us very poorly. I would be giving a much lower rating if it wasn’t for how the manager dealt with my complaint and discomfort in the issue. He is definitely a value to the team and made our experience a lot better.

Booked a table for a family lunch to celebrate my brother's birthday. Main restaurant was closed but food was being served in the main bar area.The menu seemed small than previous visits but adequate for our needs. As a chain restaurant the food was not exceptional but was OK.What made our visit and the reason for my rating was the service and helpfulness of the staff on duty. My brother is disabled and in a wheelchair. The guys on duty ( Sat 24th Oct 12 noon to 3pm) were amazing and very helpful. Special thanks to Connor. You made my brother's day.

Don't eat very often at chain pub restaurants but after looking at reviews and ignoring the usual serial moaners we thought we would give this Beefeater a try .. bad mistake, firstly two starters were unavailable , I ordered the 12oz sirloin which arrived without the brioche loaf nor the merlot sauce, after complaining these arrived about 10 mins later when my meal was half finished. The broiche loaf had obviously been microwaved and looked like scrambled egg with onions in it and resembled cold sick. Although cooked as I asked (medium) the sirloin was really tough and difficult to chew, I have had much better steak from Aldi at a 5th of the price. In these difficult times these chains really need to up their game.

We ate at the restaurant inside and also used the app for ordering drinks when we were outside. There was a one-way system in place for social distancing and plenty of hand sanitiser availalbe.The restaurant is a typical Beefeater, so usually you can get a reasonably good meal. Sadly, the menu is much reduced due to Covid and it's now a bit "meh..". I was hoping there would be more chicken/fish dishes as before but those have gone. We all had steak/burgers, which were perfectly ok and reasonable value. Eating in the actual restaurant, unless you're right by the windows - I found it a really gloomy experience.If the weather is mild enough I can recommend sitting outside. We only had drinks outside and whilst the app (the only way to place an order if you're outside) needs a bit more development to make it less clunky, it was fine. The seats overlook the seafront and we were lucky enough to have warm sunshine in October so we made the most of it by having a couple of drinks there before going off for dinner.

Normally I would only ever do a positive review , even when I’ve not been happy I tend not to leave a review, but today we had our evening meal here, it started off poor when the only thing on the menu my partner wanted they didn’t have, and then a pint of San Miguel and my refillPepsi max came in old tulip style glasses, a massive pet hate of both of us, then our meals came out with fries not chunky chips, so went back to the kitchen, the food was tasteless and lukewarm on return... remnants of the paper menu on the table also from the person before, not great in these times , not a pleasant experience at all...

So we go for food admittedly was 25past8 we asked if still serving food female behind the bar asked a male member of staff who said yes if we ordered straight away. The female handed us menus and told us to find a table. Noone came to serve us twice i went to the bar 1st time nobody in sight 2nd time young male said order at your table. The 1st male was serving a table taking a food order. Eventually he came over and told us no longer serving food. Then disappeared to ask someone else who said they stop taking orders for food at 20past. The staff are extremely rude wouldn't go back there ever. Not when everywhere else in torquay has been so friendly

Came for dinner with wife and brought our friends that were visiting us. Had a great evening and food was really enjoyable, rump steak i had was cooked to perfection. Myself and my fiancé ate here while staying at the premier inn, we were recognised upon arriving by our server Amy Caul from our previous visit, it made us feel very welcome and comfortable. The food was delicious, there is something for everyone, and Amy’s service was quick and friendly. We will definitely be going again before the end of our stay. We would recommend this restaurant to anybody.

Booked a table for Saturday night for a birthday treat. We were seated and handed menus and left to make selections; no mention was made of any issues with supplying what was on the menu and our drinks order was taken.The waitress returned with our drinks and began to take our food order. We selected Nachos as a starter and were informed they had sold out. We made a second choice of potato dippers and informed that they too were sold out. We made a third choice of garlic bread; guess what, that too was old out!On to mains, we made a selection of trio of fish a mixed grill and a rump steak and chips. Informed that they had no potatoes to go along with the fish dish and could they substitute chips. Agreed to chips so as not to cause an issue as this was supposed to be a celebration meal. When given a choice of thick or thin cut chips we requested thick.The meals duly arrived.The fish dish was supposed to be hake, salmon and sea bass on a bed of potatoes (substitute thick cut chips) and french beans served with cherry tomatoes.What arrived was overcooked dried out salmon with raw skin, dried out hake and sea bass so full of bones it was actually inedible. The french beans were cold and soggy. The cherry tomatoes were substituted with rock hard and stone cold salad tomatoes. The dressing was frozen and served as a hard circle defrosting over the fish. The order for thick cut chips was ignored and instead were replaced with thin cut; why ask if you're going to take no notice of the answer!The mixed grill was not too bad. The mushrooms were inedible as they appeared to have been steamed and left full of liquid which ran across the plate and left a disgusting grey oily puddle. The steak was overcooked. The chicken was dry and the gammon overcooked.The rump steak was perfectly cooked and everything served perfectly. Maybe whoever was in charge of the steak section should teach the other staff in the kitchen how to present food.We understand that most food establishments are under pressure due to covid and all the extra precautions which need to be taken but there is no excuse for a restaurant not taking the trouble to inform you before you are seated that most of the food is not available or to provide food of such a poor standard.

Just came back from a weekend in Torquay.we had a table booked for four of us for 6.45 on a Saturday night.when we arrived it was so busy we thought we would have to wait.but I was wrong we were shown straight away to are table with all the covid laws in place.we were waited on by a lovely lady called sharon who’s service was excellent from start to finish.nothing was to much trouble for her.i had a mixed grill and that was the best mixed grill i have had from a beefeater especially being so busy and we did not have to wait long.

It is not about the brand"Beefeater". It is about who it is in the kitchen. We were yesterday to have diner. The meals were good but not wow. A little overpriced. The lady Sahroon how took care of us was very nice. And for a steakhouse the steak menu is limited, overall the menu is limited.

Rang restaurant direct to book a table. Arrived on time to be told booking could not be found. They did find a table. Ordered the meals, waited and waited and when they did eventually arrive. Some of the food was lukewarm and had to sent back. The waitress was very apologetic. Found the whole experience disappointing.

I’m not that fussy, I just want some service...I expect the following things1) the waiter to take an order2) the food we ordered to show up and be what we ordered 3) plates to be collected after we’ve finished eating (within a few minutes, not 25), I asked the waiter if he could take the finished plates away to be told ‘well obviously I can take them away...4) be asked if we want anything else5) the bill to come when asked for, not to have to go to the counter to get it 10 minutes later, interrupting the staff chatting.The absence of the above may have been excusable if the staff were busy, they weren’t. They were busy throwing bottle caps into a bin, basketball style.The food was sort of what you would expect but it just felt like nobody cared.

I would like to complain about the appalling service we recievedlast night at the Belgrave torquay we booked online for 20.45 when we arrived a few minutes late due to trying to find somewhere to park we where told by the staff that the kitchen was now closed and they could not service usWe where advised by the staff that we should not of booked for that time? although the website clearly allowed us to do it I feel it was clear even if we had been exactly on time the staff would have refused to service us I appreciate these are difficult times for the hospitality trade and this may have been a clitch on their website butA telephone call to advise us of this would have been appreciated

Came here last night, very pleased with the location. A special shoutout to our fantastic waitress Phoebe. She made every effort possible to make sure we were well looked after. She came over to chat, asked how we were etc. Always checking on the food, grabbing us new drinks and clearing up quickly. She spoke to us about the new menu and recommended some of the new options and they were delicious. The steak and canaloni were to die for, I would highly recommended. Good desserts also and a nice coffee. All in all great food, great atmosphere and great service. Would recommend.

Have not visited since Covid 19. So glad to say service and food have not been affected. Felt safe with all the screens and hand wash. Manager Paul and sarah (she seems to always be there) providing great service and a friendly welcome. Food on offer has changed a bit, but everything was cooked well. Shame poached eggs have been taken off, but black pudding on. As always staff very friendly and nothing to much trouble.

I visited beefeater this evening for the first time today after seeing them everywhere we decided to try it. I am disappointed with what we received. £12.99 for a burger and £14.99 for a steak, which I believed to be a reasonable price, however I couldn’t of been more wrong. First of all we over heard a waitress say to the chefs how ill she felt and how her tonsils were so bad and she felt so sick and shouldn’t be at work but her boss made her come in, during a pandemic??? Outrageous! And then she served our food! I have never been put off before but the poor girl did seem really poorly but her boss forced her to come in aparanrly. The burgers literally came plonked on a plate, no side salad or anything like a tomato or anything to make the plate look nice, on the menu it said coleslaw but nothing came. The chips were smaller than a finger nail looked like I had got the last rashers from the batch. Other staff were friendly and helpful, however I feel shocked disappointed with the presentation of the food when the millar and carter is pretty much the same price and you get so much more for your money. Will not be returning, however in a nice location but would of rather of eaten in weatherspoon

Visited this evening for a celebratory meal....looking forward to it all day as offered a new menu including surf and turf..my favourite. Was advised upon arriving to bear with the waitress as had alot of walk ins to serve? Sat down....not overly busy, eventually ordered. In meantime listening to others ordering alot was not available on the menu! What the heck? So were glad when our order was accepted....then about 20 minutes later food arrived....to our dismay...luke warm...everything bloody luke warm!Totally disappointed...Well Beefeater it will be a long time until we return....if ever!

As a Torquay local we visit the Belgrave Beefeater regularly. We decided that it would be a nice evening meal for my Birthday. As usual we were greeted by the friendly staff and seated. Our server for the evening was Amy J and she really did us proud. She was fantastic, friendly and helpful, she really went the extra mile and made a great evening even better, thank you. We called in for an easy meal having travelled down to the Premier Inn from Derbyshire. Staff were friendly but a very restricted menu. No beer ot lager choice and no food variation. Its all portion controlled. You get what you pay for but it is expensive for what it is and the food is very average. There are many better restaurants to eat in Torquay.

Served by a wonderful attentive young man Conner, couldn’t of been more pleasant helpful and patient. As two families dining together with three young children it was a challenge not to forget something however he had it all in had and made for a pleasant experiance.Although the service was first class unfortunately the meal was not the nicest we have had and felt it was a lot of money for what we got! In comparison to another local pub we ate at last week we we’re really disappointed with beefeater as unfortunately not good value for money and we probably wouldn’t return in a hurry.Shame as Conner done such a fantastic job it was the foodOn this occasion that let it done not service .

Excellent meal here whilst visiting the area for the first time. Attentive service from Lou Lou the only thing which was our fault was service was too quick in and out for mains and starters in 30 minutes we generally like to make a night of it and have a break between courses as I say we should have asked. The steaks were lovely, chips piping hot and more brought out without us even asking . The restaurant had a nice chilled atmosphere we bought another bottle of wine and took it through to the bar. If in the area again we would visit for another meal or stay in the premier inn.

Well my 6 pieces of scampi ..desert spoon size portion of mushy peas and 10 micro waved chips for 12.99 was that good we went straight to asda and bought and load of cooked meats and cheese for the following evening..the beefeater is garbage save your money and 2.50 parking charge!!!!°

Went for lunch today with 4 friends. Not often we get out together so was looking forward to it. Table for 5 , drinks and orders all taken with no bother. Only a 20 min wait for food so not bad. End of good things to say, 1 mixed grill has a rump that was totally inedible, half rack of ribs on another plate literally looked like it had been pulled out of the bin. Fries although unlimited we’re poor and the calamari looked absolutely disgusting. To their credit they took around £30 off the bill but lunch already ruined we decided to leave as quick as possible. Thank you beefeater but never again

We had relatives visiting us yesterday and they booked in to stay here.My wife and I and daughter and son in law all live in Torquay.Anyway we walked into the bar to have a drink with our relatives and spotted a table with seating for six. No problem we all had a few drinks and snacks and were enjoying ourselves. Two hours later some member of staff little guy with a Burle Ives beard came storming over and started to tell us we were not allowed to sit there with six people and we should not have moved the chairs.I tried to explain that the chairs were already set around the table when we got there and that we had been sitting there now for two hours and no member of staff had said nothing to us about it.Well he then said 'well that's not my fault, I've just started my shift and you are not allowed to sit here'Well...I then started to see red, I tried to explain that if we were not allowed to sit together at this table then a member of staff should have told us this at the beginning.He wasn't having any of this, "You've all got to move now" I myself do agree that there are rules regarding social distancing and will abide by them, but to be told after two hours to move really annoyed me.Then what really annoyed me was the young guy behind the bar to tell me to stop shouting..admittedly I do have a louf voice, and I do wear two hearing aids.But then which I really hate, he started talking down to me, I am 75 yrs old and no way will a whipper snapper of a kid talk down to me...But my wife was there and just told me to ignore him...well who in their right mind refuses to obey their wifes orders.A nice afternoon spoilt by a member of staff who says..'Orders are orders, and orders must be obeyed'..As I state no problem with covid 19 guide lines but the way they were carried out were not very customer first.

My son, who along with his girlfriend travelled from London to visit me and my girlfriend. We wanted to eat out so visited the Premier inn for lunch. I don’t like to eat out so the others ordered their meal. Considering what they ordered, I was horrified as to the price.It was only when we got home and my son & girlfriend has left to travel back home, that my girlfriend stated that her food was dismal. It was cold and dry, and tasteless.It will be the last time that we use this place.
