The Willow Tree in Torbay

A brilliant Carvery and restaurant in a convenient location with superb staff. Really enjoyed our visit today, 2 of us had Carvery and one of us had a pizza, all food was gorgeous and the team working were very friendly. Can't wait to come again.

Awful! Came here as part of our family break from wales Ordered on the app 2 out of 4 plates arrived. Asked a member of staff where their other two plates were and she looked at us simple, went into the kitchen and came back out walked passed us and said nothing. 10 mins later with no update with the kids having eaten their food we were still sat no food. The app was showing no adult fish meals but were showing med / large kids meals which is what we ordered My husband spoke to a very grumpy / argumentative manager who informed us we couldnt have the kids meals and my husband explained why we had ordered what we did and he carried on moaning that we couldn’t have the kids meals. So what he was saying was they were just going to take our Money and us continue to sit there waiting?? not even tell us there was an issue?! My husband paid another £7 ontop as the guy kept on they had adult fish but I also seen the app that showed out of stock So thank you to your moody manager, you clearly had your hands full keeping your child occupied by the server door whilst taking it out on your customers What a rude service!! When we eventually had the fish and chips it wasn’t cooked properly as the batter was soggy, by then I couldn’t be bothered. It was no wonder the pub down the road was jam packed yet this pub was clearly second best.

Food has improved,atmosphere and service great as usual.

Myself, my parents and my niece went here this evening. All of us had carvery’s. Once we had collected our food and got back to the table to eat, all of our food was cold. My parents aren’t ones to make a fuss however you pay for warm food so I went up and spoke with a young lady behind the bar who went to spoke to the chef. I was asked to go up to the serving station where the chef was waiting with her thermometer probe. In the time it took me to tell the person behind the bar, returning to my table to wait for her to come back to me and her sending me to the chef, half of the food had been changed with fresh so when she put in the probe in some of the foods, of course the food was hot. I informed the chef that almost all of the dishes were half empty when I collected my food and they had obviously just started to be changed. She checked the food that hadn’t been changed and lo and behold, it was not at an adequate temperature and she was pulling it out to be exchanged, clearly annoyed. She wasn’t friendly at all and asked in a very rude manner if I wanted another plate of food. I got my food and ate it as quickly as possible so we could get out of there. The only positive I have to say is to the lovely waitress (Tania I believe) who checked in with us and cleared our table. It’s nice to know that there are some polite and happy people that work there. Thank you for making our visit not completely awful. We WILL NOT be returning.

An excellent pub / restaurant serving good beers and great food! The staff make you very welcome. The quality of service is great. The beers are well kept and reasonably priced. The food is excellent, at very reasonable prices. The carvery offers a standard or large option. The meats are cooked to a very high standard. The turkey roast is so tender and tasty. The beef is cooked to perfection, not too dry and not over cooked. The vegetables are cooked well, the roast potato cooked well and nicely crisp on the outside while nice and soft in the middle. The chicken / bacon salad is a delight - a lot of care and attention to detail. Well worth ordering! The deserts are also very good. Staff visit your table to check everything is up to standard. Any problems rapidly and efficiently solved. The location offers a large car park and bus stops are a short walk away making this place easily accessible. Also it offers easy disabled access.

Liam was a great host and looked after us extremely well. He provided quick and polite service and made sure we had a lovey evening. Owen provided us an enjoyable meal. Very pleased

Had a beautiful large carvery with all the beautifully cooked meats, my wife had the veggie option which was also beautiful, Tania was our server who was absolutely lovely also.

We booked a table for 7 we were seated promptly and the service was brilliant our waitress tania was amazing would definitely visit again

Editing this review as been a lot since my last, roast is often dried out and repetitive. Stopped having them, had a pizza the other day was fine for the price. Got a dessert, paid £6 for 3 profiteroles and cream. I defiantly wouldn’t have high expectations of this restaurant if you’re going. There’s another roast pub down the road, same price far better.

Travelled down from Birmingham to my Caravan, Went into the Willow Tree. They made us so Welcome in this Beautiful Pub, Put Aston Villa Europeon game on the telly for us, THE FOOD AND THE BEER WERE AMAZING !! THANK YOU ! SEE YOU AGAIN !!

We came for breakfast; with our young daughter the server Becky was very welcoming and helped with any little things that we needed making it such a nice morning for us all. Would highly recommend, plus the food was great!

Had my first Sunday roast here. It didn’t disappoint. The pork rind was delicious.

Enjoyed a nice Sunday carvery. Kids menu comes with ice cream. Will certainly be back again. All reasonably priced.

Everything was great we had the fish and chips which came out really quick and it was very tasty and hot my friends enjoyed the place so much they returned for a carvery on Sunday

Poor use of groupon voucher. Was supposed to be £35.56 of food for £19.99, was actually 22.98 max so a saving of £2.99 and a very limited set menu to choose from. The staff were not able to sort the issue so it was like it or lump it attitude. Food was average at best

Staff are friendly enough, prices are more than reasonable. Offers on throughout the week and plenty of parking outside. It’s typical chain pub food, wouldn’t go back personally but I wouldn’t tell someone not to go either.

Beautiful food as always, staff extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. I would recommend this establishment to anyone. Tania was very warm and welcoming, she always has a smile and makes us feel at home.

Had exceptional service here by the staff, even during a quiet mid week lunch shift they couldn't of been more helpful and friendly, especially to my 2 year old. Food was excellent

Lovely place for a carvery. Pregnant partner was craving one, and Shirley kindly snuck us into a free gap without much fuss. Will be coming again!

Went in for a roast dinner food was not hot enough will not go again

Came in today with a friend for a little bite to eat for breakfast and a coffee and was served by a lady called Tania such a hard working woman who is always so welcoming and lovely to talk to thank you xx

Superb service from the staff, Shirley greeted us with a friendly smile and was very informative about the menu and gave us a memorable evening, so hats off to her.

What is not to love about the willow tree. The food is exceptional and plenty of it. You always get a lovely welcoming from the staff. The team are amazing. Your defiantly missing out if you haven't been here.

Very chilled environment and staff exceptionally well catered to deal with the demand. The carvery and all you can eat breakfast was amazing every time I've been here and consistent every time. Shirley was one of the members of staff was very helpful towards myself and my grandad clearing the table for us and helping to make sure we had clear access to the facilties. (Grandad is an amputee) Thankyou guys keep it up. Worth a visit.

Good value food in a pleasant setting. Enjoyed the carvery with my wife and grandson. Plenty of free parking and easy to get to. Even provided an extra plate at no charge for the little one to share our food. Been a while since we have come here. A new menu with a greatly expanded choice. Food is fairly priced and very good with pleasant service.

Staff are extremely polite and helpful Becky gave good service and was a delight would have given 5 stars but the food was not that hot overall it was ok.

Took a chance on bank holiday Sunday at getting a carvery without a booking but kindly Tania who greeted us at the door and served us during the evening squeezed us in! Carvery was really tasty and hot food! Really great value for money and lovely service team all round!

Been meaning to write this review, we had family visiting 2 weeks ago & decided to book a table as there was quite a few of us. We ordered from the bar, where Liam was very helpful & patient with our large order. The food was lovely & I recommend the carvery. Liam checked in on our table, making sure we had everything we required. We all had a lovely evening with delicious hot food & good friendly service. Thank you Liam & the rest of the team that made our family evening so enjoyable.

Always five stars. Popped in last Tuesday with a family of 8 and we all had a great time thanks to Chloe, Karen, Ria and I suppose Liam did alright 😜. Food was hot and very tasty. We all went home happy bunnies.

Liam is always so kind and friendly, I bring an elderly friend to the willow tree once a week he always makes an effort to chat to us, the elderly man loves to see Liam

I came in for a few pints and food and was served by a chap called Owen he was very pleasant and a girl called danni cooked my food it was banging too marks all around well done guys

First time I came in and Owen served me he was nice and pleasant I would highly recommend it was a very warm welcome

Had a very nice roast yesterday.

The Willow Tree always pull the stops out when we make a large group booking. The buffet was generous and full of variety. Everything we asked for was ready on time and everyone enjoyed it, particularly those yummy sandwiches and delicious roasties! A nice welcome from Kelsey and the bar staff, too. The dining area was not as expected on arrival, but soon resolved.
