The Willow Tree in Torbay

Rather drive the extra 5 minutes and go to Tobys carvery. Went to the willow tree a couple times, both times the meat was extremely dry and flavourless and the veg was also dry and over cooked and not much of a selection unfortunately. However the staff there was very nice and accommodating.

Shirley is always really friendly and helpful. I bring an elderly friend to the willow tree she always comes to say hello, I get the feeling from other customers around, everyone thinks highly of her. Thank you for everything you do Shirley.

It was very busy and although obviously short staffed. All the staff working were amazing. They kept their calm under pressure and did a great job .

Went for a family carvery. Meat was good, potatoes were good, other veg a little undercooked for my taste. Our waitress, Tania, was very helpful and attentive.

Had another lovely meal at this place today. We travel up from Plymouth for this restaurant as we prefer this one to the one in Plymouth. Food is always hot, fresh and plenty available. There’s nothing worse than waiting for multiple food items to be replenished on a buffet. Staff welcoming and friendly upon arrival and had a lovely chat with the lovely Shirley who went above and beyond to answer a query I had about sausages lol. Highly recommend and we will return

We regularly have a carvery here and it never disappoints. The food is fresh and plentiful, regularly topped up and on the rare occasion anything has run out the staff will bring some to your table when it is replaced. sadly just had a bad experience with the food at the stonehouse :( had popped in for lunch after spending the day out and ordered two bacon and cheeseburgers. Did not enjoy these at all, as the taste of the beef patties were extremely low quality, no flavour and the chips were not great also. Did not got any check back on our food, even when our plates were cleared and was very visible that we did not eat hardly any of the food there. Very disappointed.

Live around the corner and come for either breakfast or carvery at least once a week. Carvery is always great, brilliant value for money. Breakfast can be a little hit and miss, sometimes it’s amazing but sometimes it’s been out a while and is a little rubbery. Shirley is my favourite staff member, always friendly, kind and chatty. Believe it’s been taken over by new managers recently. They seem nice, yet to see either of them smile though.

We originally were booked for the restaurant but I had a little Yorkshire Terrier. So we were a party of 19 and they made us two tables in the bar. The atmosphere was fantastic for New Year’s Eve. Everyone was chatty and friendly and a few other beautiful dogs around also. Food was very good and hot and served in about half an hour. A few of us had the carvery and it was really nice. Lots of parking for NYE Friendly staff good atmosphere for pet owners and good food. Will definitely come back again.

Boxing Day 2024 Christmas menu Very poor, no traditional table decorations and nothing to set the day any differently to a Sunday lunch, the food was ok but didn’t come out correctly. Staff poorly trained which is not their fault. Service - I have had more interaction with a Costa vending machine. This pub is in need of a refurbishment and a change in management.

The Christmas decorations were impressive upon arrival; NOT , the lack of table cutlery and decorations was disappointing. The table staff struggled to understand the provided documentation that was given to me The wait time at the bar for drinks was excessive. And nearly celebrated 2026 while waiting. The seating was really uncomfortable.. The couple next to us it felt like I'm in the middle seat of a 6 hour flight between a couple whos on the verge of divorce but neither want to bring it up. The dessert service timing was unacceptable; the desserts arrived within a two-minute interval for each person, suggesting the use of a microwave oven. The rapid succession of dessert service was readily apparent. #PING Our family's meals were served significantly earlier than the other orders, without prior notification of a suitable pick-up time, preventing us from dining together. The promised pigs in blankets were unavailable, . Their subsequent arrival in a children's green plastic bowl after the main course was, unfortunately, less than ideal it's just a way to make feeding a stubborn 29yr old baby more fun and interactive. "here comes the train/plane" We moved tables to the bar - only for your table staff to grass and run to management to say we had taken off without paying - yes we heard you! So did the rest of the restaurant - Yet she didn't realise we settled the bill on arrival jokes on you. We only moved to a different table. Happy Christmas #never again

We booked a table, but when we arrived the manager told us the carvery had no meat for over 1 hour, and she gave no apology. When we later explained to another member of staff that our friends had travelled some distance to go for a meal, to celebrate Christmas and the life of my dad who recently passed, he apologised and said the carvery is subject to availability, and that they'd had a lot of walk-ins. Which sounds like poor planning and squeezing in more customers, which disadvantages those who book a table for a special occasion. The carvery itself was lovely when we got to eat it. We've been coming here for years and this is the first time where we've had such a disappointing experience.

Brilliant!!! Took four of our Grandchildren for Breakfast with Santa here this morning to start the Christmas celebrations. They all had a fabulous time! Actually, we all had a fabulous time!! Breakfast was lovely, hot, tasty & plentiful. The best bit was watching the children interact with Santa. He was truly amazing. The best Santa we have visited with our Grandchildren for many a year. Well done 'The Willows' for a truly festive experience. Please return next year 'Santa'

Comfortable environment amazing service

Had a loverly buffet and meal here with family on Sunday 22nd December 2024. The venue is very clean, tidy, relaxing environment. Staff are friendly, professional and welcoming . Would 100% recommend Dogs are welcome and disabled friendly.

We had a wonderful meal at The Willow Tree! Value for money was amazing, service was quick and friendly. Tania, our server, was brilliant, very polite and friendly! We can't wait to come back!

Great place for a great value carvery

Not been for a while, due to previous visits not impressing us much at all. Decided to give it a go tonight, as shopping near by. The place looked better/smarter than on previous visits. The wait at the bar was minimal, the server was friendly and polite, and the food good. Pleasant meal for under £10 (standard carvery) One complaint, as with many other establishments. Stop charging so much for non-alcoholic beverages please.

Came in for a carvery on 12 th dec 2024 the best roast we have ever had, thanks to chef Danny and waitress Shirley, lovely atmosphere. Will definitely drive up from Plymouth regularly.

Great Christmas get together and Carvery, extremely great value and quality. Couldn't have asked for more, great service from the team on duty and the meat was plentiful as was the vegetable selection. Very impressive.

Breakfast delight!!! We were very impressed with breakfast here as we had never tried it before, But for £7 you can eat as much as you like, There was Bacon, Sausage, Hash Browns, beans, toms, black pudding, fried bread, Eggs, Mushrooms and Toast. Wonderful choice and you can even pay extra and get unlimited tea and coffee. Beautiful.

Had a great girls Christmas get together last night. About 30 of us but nothing was too much trouble for Tania our server. Lovely food and atmosphere.

Had a wonderful time on the 11th December. Staff were wonderful from booking in September. Managers to all front of house. They made everything easy as I had a party of 27. Service of food was well organised and our waitress Tania and others that served us were friendly and efficient. Went on and above . Big thanks 👍 to all. Would highly recommend.

We visited as part of a large group on Saturday evening. We had pre-ordered our meals and they were brought out to the table in a timely manor - no one was waiting for their food to arrive, which has been a problem with a large group in the past at other establishments. Food / dietary requirements were all catered for including substitutions where necessary i.e Gluten Free gravey. All staff were friendly, helpful and courteous with a special mention to Tania who went the extra mile and took some photos of our group for us! This is not the first time we have been as a large group and we will certainly be returning next time we have a get together. :)

My wife and I have visited this pub many times over the years, as we used to quite like it. On a good day the carvery merits 4 stars. Today the meat was good, plenty of nice veg, (albeit only lukewarm), and staff were very pleasant, as always...the downside is the total absence of good beer!! If you enjoy lager, John Smiths and lightweight, fruity beer you will be satisfied. Personally, I loathe this stuff and deplore the lack of more traditional, darker ales. True, there is Guiness, but nothing else that looked remotely tempting. I tried Wingman IPA for the first time today and hated it. A shame, because for.me the likes of Grrene King IPA is fine. So, the carvery is fine but the alcohol isn't. I am afraid that we will not return.

Had a lovely carvery today at Stonehouse in Torquay. Lovely freshly cooked veg and we were greeted by a lovely lady who we later found out was called Shirley. We enjoyed the festive menu and highly recommend.

The staff look so unhappy their rude very unproductive and just don't make you feel welcome must be a very unhappy place to work. The manager in blue with jeans and brown shoes well I persume he's a manager just strutting around walking past dirty tables talking to a young girl on the bar about his plans for the week,very unprofessional and clearly not very good at his job The carvery is good value although a little cold definitely not up to hot holding temp and if you use the app you'll have to chase down your order

Went here for dinner with my family recently. The food was incredible and the service was so good. There was a lovely cosy feel about the place and we will definitely be back.

This has recently been taken over by two guys Andrew & Tony who are so friendly and welcoming. Excellent range of beers, wine and cocktails reasonably priced fast and efficient service at the bar. If you like pale ale we would recommend the Wingman IPA they have a good range of cocktails too again reasonably priced. The food was so tasty average waiting time which I prefer as I hate feeling like you’re rushing to finish or waiting ages between courses. Pizza was delicious would highly recommend .. fresh dough too! We’ve also had the carvery again I would highly recommend meat is always juicy and tasty veg always fresh. We are yet to try the breakfast but based on how yummy the pizzas and carvery is here I’m sure the breakfast will be just as tasty. They also have vegan and vegetarian options available a good choice on the menu for both. The toilets are clean and tidy this is always a concern for us especially with having two small children who always need the toilet. We would highly recommend The Willow Tree the staff are lovely and friendly very welcoming, food is delicious, prices are more than reasonable for the quality of food. Overall we would highly recommend The Willow Tree, we will definitely be visiting again thank you ☺️

I’m very sorry but on the 22 Nov myself and 3 friends came to your restaurant before going to a show but was very disappointed as the carvery was cold. So bad that although the food was good it put us all off calling in again

All the staff and food is so nice and wonderful also the service is quick and has good atmosphere even the puddings are nice and it is nice when you have singing tributes at the restaurant and people singing too it.

Came here on Sunday after our reservation at another restaurant was cancelled due to the weather. I’m absolutely amazed at how welcoming the staff and managers were. Food was amazing service was friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The manager who I spoke to on the phone managed to squeeze all 9 members of my family in at such short notice too we will definitely be back

Great service and lovely food. Didn’t catch the name of the server on arrival for drinks but he was very friendly and efficient. Helped me with the app to collect a free drink I’d earned through reward scheme 👍 Becky was our server for the food order and was very friendly and checked everything was ok for us. I had the carbonara pizza, cooked by Tom and it was delicious! Gutted I couldn’t manage the last slice. My partner had a carvery and enjoyed it very much. Really lovely lunch with great service, tasty food and at a great price. Will be back to collect the free main I have now earned through the reward card scheme on the Stonehouse app 😁

We came here randomly looking for breakfast one Sunday, and we're going to try make it a regular for breakfast now even though we live in newton. The staff were super friendly and welcoming and the food was really value for money. Will definitely be returning regular and it's dog friendly indoors too
