Cracking pint , alas too late to have food , proper pub , well done 👏

It reminds me of an old working man's club. Nostalgic and simple. Simple food with pool table and ironically a safe cosy atmosphere. New landlord who's trying his best 👌

Shepherd Pie came with mash potato heaped on a plate with a pie heaped with mash too, barely any meat and didn't taste right, was sick all night. Pub has no atmosphere at all and only handful of customers...perhaps just a bad night but no excuse for disgusting food.

Friendly owners. Good selection of drinks at reasonable prices. Lovely food. Big portions. Will definitely use again when we stay in paignton.

Great local pub. Off the main route, need to seek it out. Value for money on food, home cooked, good portions. Friendly locals, Great staff. Popular karaoke on Fridays, other events during the week. Out door seating and a car park close by.

Stopped off for a pint whilst walking from Torquay, too Goodrington . Lovely pub and great friendly staff . Great pint also .

Lovely atmosphere and bar lady of an independent pub. Lovely food at a great price, not a massive menu but good range as shown in photo. 2 meals and 2 puddings for £20. Pint of Atlantic IPA £4.70 as of spring 2024. Would recommend.

Lovely Sunday roast, and lovely lady reserved our table next to the radiator after a long soaky walk was a lovely welcome. Medium size lunch was 👌perfect thank you.

It is a locals pub, but very friendly. Stopped by for a Sunday beef roast, one of the best in a long time! Well done Embassy Tavern

First visit for kids halloween party. It was packed. Full of smiley faces, everyone enjoying themselves. A brilliant atmosphere throughout. The disco was funtastic, kids loved it

It's a shame, my meal was not warm enough when delivered to the table and wasn't tasty. Sadly pastry on the pies looked like cardboard. chips were ok though.

Fairly basic bar / lounge pub, close to the town centre, 2 handpulls on, only Doombar on. More of a locals pub.

Spent a few nights in this pub while on holiday in the area and really enjoyed it. Very friendly bar staff and good beer. Pool table always a nice bonus. Outside seating just the job in the nice weather.

Limited sandwich section which came out as panniers not informed of changes. Service quite slow,pub was not packed what would happen if very busy.

Popped in here 1 night as it was next door to our hotel, and we were welcomed by everyone, including the staff and locals. Great karaoke, lovely staff, and apparently, their world famous Sunday roast is back, we didn't make it, I hear its a belter, though.

Under new management now. Kitchen opening again shortly and things are looking up. Nice to see open on a Monday once again.

Not a bad little pub, close to Travelodge so easy to walk to. Quiet in the afternoon. Also went on a Friday night and they had karaoke which was a good night of entertainment

Used this lovely little tavern while visiting the area and it was good experience.... Luckily for me it was steak night and it was cooked dead right and we ate in their quaint little garden.. the landlady and landlord was really nice... Will definitely vist again this year.

Capt. Jack's is a friendly, family run pub just a stone's throw from Paignton seafront. While having limited parking on site, there is a public car park just a few yards away. The pub has outside seating for when the sun is shining! The owners are friendly and welcoming, and keep a clean bar serving excellent draught beers. I would thoroughly recommend anyone to go and spend time here.

Nice public house very welcoming

Don’t bother unless you’ve booked! We walked in at 3.30pm. Notice board outside saying Sunday dinner served till 5pm plus a full menu. No sign saying differently and we were bluntly told fully booked - no food available. No smile or apologies. Nothing! Bearing in mind the place was nigh on empty! Not impressed.

Amazing tasty food no matter what you order, fills you up nicely, great pub for locals but don't let that put you off, genuine friendly people and staff

My family and I had a fabulous roast dinner here today. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We wanted to sit outside as we are on holiday and brought our (anxious) dog with us. Despite the weather (rain showers) we were able to eat outside under the umbrellas. There's nothing like a bit of rain for a bit of extra entertainment! We would highly recommend a visit to this lovely pub! Thank you!

Great pint of Tribute. Could offer another guest ale and push real ale sale. Get in the Camra guide. Doom bar does not count as a ale any more!!.. Great staff. A little hidden gem in Preston. WORTH A TRY.

What a great pub. Fantastic owners and staff. We wanted food but was a little late. We were just about to go and the landlady said would a pizza be ok. We said yes please, it was no trouble for her to turn the ovens back on a do me a d my partner one of the best pizzas I have tasted. Thank you

A very homely pub, very friendly and down-to-earth staff. Delicious pie, mash, peas and gravy. Older traditional style building and decor but lovely and clean. Would go again if we lived closer.

Just had a delicious Sunday lunch here. Very friendly landlord and lady, and the food was spectacular. Can definitely recommend.

Fantastic friendly owners with great food at realistic prices. Dog and child friendly too. We have now eaten here several times and always found the food to be of great quality. Near the sea too so about 2 minutes walk and your on the beach. Highly recomend this pub and Helen and Kevin are superb licensees.

The first time I visited Captain Jack, I found it quite charming with welcoming staff. Evidently it is obsessed with Pirates of the Caribbean, which I thought was rather amusing. I hope to visit again one day, I am yet to try the food... Update: The food was inadequate. I found the Hawaiian pizza too crispy, it was not very good at all. All else was good. Way overpriced.

The 4 star review does not reflect the effort the staff put in here. The menu was limited but the selections of ale, cider and lagers as well as spirits was good and functional. The staff are cheery and smile as much when you leave as when you arrive Good Pirate theme and happy punters inside and out. Even half empty it's character comes through. Shame it wasn't busy, which I put down to a downturn in the weather. Covid rules observed correctly.

What can I say yet another wonderful Sunday lunch excellent value and superb quality. Its so nice to return to our local we have missed it. Our new landlord and landlady have family values at Hart. With total respect for all surrounding nabours. It feels so warm and comfortable now and a place where you can take your children or dogs and relax thanks again Paul Miranda and Jessica xx

What a shame. This pub has gone down hill since the new management have taken over. Rude staff and poor service. It’ll be a long, dark winter ahead, me thinks.
