Very tasty carvery, only £12.99 ! And if you have a taste card or blue light you get 25% discount ! Tip cordial and soda is a cheap drink to buy 😉 The guy slicing the meat needs a payrise ! Such a happy welcoming chap unlike the other staff who were just as busy. No one seemed to know how to tell us about the parking and one told us there were no seats available and to leave. When we asked someone else, they said we could just pick a table outside ! Which was much nicer than inside anyway. Beautiful setting on the beach. You get 3 hours free parking where they give you a ticket on the way out. But when you scan it,it gives you 3 hours from when you scan it so very confusing ?

Sad to give this review as it’s my local and usually good, however, came today ordered 2 pints of ale was told rather rudely that as we were sitting outside it had to be in a plastic glass!!! Reason given when questioned was the seagulls?? Now fair enough the seagulls are a bit of a menace, however once outside it seems the seagulls are only partial to a pint of beer. I could have had any other drink, wine, coke etc all served in a glass. Food on china plates and china coffee cups were fine apparently!!! Very disappointing inn on the quay. If you’re going to have a rule then at least make it fair. !!!!!

Worst place I've eaten in a while and very understaffed

2nd night here, first night was lovely but tonight was awful. Ordered curry, came out and was cold in the middle, the naan I ordered as an extra was cold and not cooked either. It was busy with hardly any staff about to approach so I went hungry. The worst thing was that when the curry came out it had no poppadom as advertised so the waiter went off to get one and came back with it in his fingers!!! Disgusting!!

How its location by the sea isn’t capitalised and celebrated is beyond me. There’s service with a smile, here it’s with a groan. I was staying at the premier inn and had dinner and breakfast here. At Dinner, the staff I had to hunt down to help, when they arrived it was if they were pulled from the street the same day. Won’t be coming back. I tried Cantina down the road where for a couple quid more you’ll get a different experience

3 of our 4 meals were adequate. But the 4th our mixed grill priced at £17.19 was disgraceful it came with a 4oz rump steak which was the best part, 2 sausages overcooked, handful of overcooked chips, peas that covered a 3rd of the plate i suppose they were trying to fill the plate due to the half chicken breast and half gammon steak were no bigger than the size of an average spoon it was disappointing at best and not worthy of the price point, we have eaten at other brewers fayres and had much better quality. No-one came to ask if we were happy with our meal and so we won't be eating in here again over our 3 day stay.

Good food, good service, Chef Moses and Gareth on the food side and Kiki and Chloe for the bar service. Everyone working hard to give the best customer service but I think they could do with more staff to deliver an even better experience.

Every time I’ve come here, no matter what the season, day or how busy or quiet, the place is always a mess and understaffed. Plates, glasses and cups covering 80% of the tables. Watched a staff member clear one table of three glasses, then not come back for an hour. Clearly not her fault as understaffed and she was clearly completing the job and responsibilities of about four people. Where are the management? Clearly drunk or half asleep when rota’ing staff.

Food was average. Pretty much ignored by staff. No decaf tea.

All you can eat breakfast is great value and great food. All you could wish for from pastries to the cooked . Will be using regularly

Came in today and was very surprised to find £6 dinners as not been in a while what a bargain and the quality and taste of the food was amazing. The best garlic breaded mushrooms around and ive tried them everywhere. Always great service and atmosphere. Well done guys

Went with family while they were here for a holiday. Noticeably short staffed, and when our meal arrived, mine was missing, the waitress advised it was just coming. 10 minutes later I went and asked and then it arrived. Such a shame as staffing is often poor here, is it excessive cost saving?

Rude bar member Lisa didn't pour a Guinness properly. The wrong size glass was used and the head was not settled before she plonked it in front of me causing it to over spill and making glass extremely slippery to pick up. Consequently I spilt the dink all over the counter. When I explained this to her she shrugged her shoulders and carried on speaking with the next customer. I paid for a drink I didn't get and was not offered a replacement and I will not be going in there again.

All tables empty and reserved. We went in twice and it was the same thing. We stayed for drink first time then left. Second time the next day the staff were oblivious to our presence with 9 and 5 year old. So we just left.

Too few staff, poor management food OK to get a second drink is almost impossible one staff member on bar who is taking food orders not serving drinks......... so join the food queue

Went for a carvery Sunday but as we have dogs we're quite happy to eat outside in the covered area. However the outside area was in a disgusting state. Some days previously we had stopped for coffee and there was dog hair all over where some nice person had groomed their dog and left the hair all over. We did expect it to have been cleaned. I know this area is primarily for smokers but surely even they deserve a degree of cleanliness. There was also dog excrement at the back. The food is lovely and staff friendly but please keep the outside area clean and wipe tables as we were unable to eat a meal in that area we had to leave without our carvery.

Food was great cant knock it. The breakfast was top notch. Let us take food up to the hotel room which was great definitely be visiting again

Shocking attitude from woman behind the bar. Lots of food missing (no burgers, steak, chicken wings or salad!) from the menu. Refused to make cocktails for other customers because she was too busy. Wouldn't accept physical Blue Light Card, only app. Reserved signs on nearly every table so customers couldn't find anywhere to sit, let alone order food. Many tables dirty and had plates and glasses left. Having worked in retail I couldn't believe her attitude. Eaten here many times before and always had a good experience. Left without eating.

We popped in for a little bite to eat, had two sharers They were so small they should have been for one! They were cold! We had salt and pepper calamari, you would have thought they were pork scratchings looking at them, just about enable and the loaded potatoes dippers, we're just a few chips also cold! So that was a waste of £11.18 😡

Wonderful experience, greeted with an amazing brass band playing whilst we ate a scrumptious carvery. Clearly the kitchen manager has it well organised. Lovely atmosphere in time for Christmas. I will be back!

Haven't eaten here for a few years, the food has improved immensely, proper pub grub. Staff were friendly and having a laugh with us and there was even light entertainment with a band playing xmas carols which topped off the atmosphere.

The carvery is THE BEST CARVERY I'VE EVER HAD! amazing selection of gorgeous meat and vegetables! Really tasty!

Sad to see this place going down hill. We used to come here often but now would rather go to other restaurants. Our booked table was not ready, dirty plates still left from previous customer. Table was dirty and sticky. Food on our chairs and all over the floor. Service was very poor, food was average. They will need to pick this up and sort out the small issues or a restaurant in this location will be taken over.

This is my local Brewers Fayre. On Sunday 24 November, a blustery/rainy day, the warmth of the setting, together with the service of the Staff, was a welcoming experience. The Sunday Carvery, as always, was excellent. This Sunday we were served by a helpful and friendly Gareth at the Carvery, usually in the kitchen he said, and doing a grand job standing in from Moses who usually does the carving/serving (he also always has a smile and greeting for each customer). The bar and waiting Staff were also friendly, helpful and efficient. A very good experience. Well done Team.

Arrived just after 10.30am the lady cleaning the conservatory abruptly told us to go to the bar to get a coffee, despite a sign telling us to stand where we were. Young lady at the bar gave us cups for coffee and pointed to the machine. We got drinks and then tried to find a table - every one of them had reserved signs on them, but there was no one else there at all!! We were eventually told to sit at the end because the cleaner had to hoover. Up until the second abrupt comment we had planned to come back for lunch. We went elsewhere and I don't plan to return, sorry.

I have never experienced a bar/restaurant so poorly staffed. 1 barmaid, with a terrible attitude, serving an entire bar. 1 waitress who was efficient, but over worked. 1 miserable looking guy cleaning/clearing tables. It’s their choice to work there, but at least make an effort, shocking attitude towards customers. Food was lovely. The manager needs to wake up & be thankful they have customers to keep them all employed! Never using this place again.

As you walk by you might think it's a "tourist trap". Relatively large, perfectly located on the beach and promenade and right next to the Splashdown water park... But that's deceptive: we were all thrilled. The service was quick and friendly, the food was good and the prices were reasonable. And the outside area simply offers beautiful views. The only thing you shouldn't be afraid of is seagulls ;-)

Arrived at 6 o'clock by the time one of the staff greeted us (nearly 10 minutes) the carvery had just finished wonderful!! So had to settle for main menu 👎my curry was Luke warm pretty poor dont think we will be back.

My experience here with my children, dad and brother was disappointing to say the least. It is a far cry from being a family friendly environment and we felt very unwelcome during our meal. The food was mediocre and the staff were unhelpful, unattentive and rather rude. We had been here for many enjoyable meals over the years, however this was the worst experience we've ever had and was definitely our last time at Inn on the Quay.

Could be great, cracking location but massively let down by slooooowwwww service and just a general lack of table clearing and overall cleanliness, especially in the outside areas.

We were on Holiday for a week in Paignton and we couldn't wait to go for Another Carvery,and prepared by the Brilliant MOSES!! He's very welcoming,polite and the Food is Cooked to perfection we cannot praise this Guy Enough He's just Great. It was very Bust on the Sunday for the Carvery so it's very popular keep it up !! And we'll definitely visit again in the Near Future xx

Left after waiting 8 minutes to be served

Came for value meal for the first time. Only one word to say disappointing. The tables were filled with left over food and dirty plates and because of this a seagull came and caused havoc while we were still eating. Also there were no sauces or knives available and no-one about to ask. So ate meal without condiments managed to take cutlery from other tables. I know it is a cheaper value meal but this was ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. Must improve!!!

It was alright, fair service, fair food. It is what it is a pub close to the sea a bit bland but handy on a bad weather day for food and a drink. Wish that who ever is responsible for the debris after a storm out on the sea wall side would have a tidy up it makes the pub look uncared for, which it is not.Even the seagull was moaning.

Excellent value for money, food freshly cooked. Very friendly staff from front of house to kitchen staff. Special shout out to JJ chef on the day, her fried eggs are perfectly cooked. Lisa, front of house deserves a mention for her friendly reception and immediate attention. Plenty of table choice, even the garden looked tempting but a little cold on the day. Full marks everyone.

It's raining, lots of people want to eat and drink but the staff say no dogs. This is Incredibly stupid! There is acres of space inside where those with dogs could be accommodated. But no, rules is rules! Plain stupid!

Really great place right on goodrington sea front. Was very busy on the nights we ate here, didn't make reservations but staff always found places for us. Staff are brilliant, very helpful as one of us is gluten free. Very quick service. Really really hope this brewers fayre doesn't close.

Mo the Chef does a good Sunday lunch. Eat as much veg as you want.

Music too loud Put in a side room because of wheel chairs. Drinks machine was not working correctly and only addressed when we had words with management. (Had to phone main number as access to bar was up stairs.) Baby changing room on opposite side of building. Food was forgettable.

We was served by Maisie and Lara very beautiful girls with a brilliant service! Food came so quick and drinks were spot on! Definitely would come again. Thank you to Lara and Maisie for making our night you guys are amazing nothing bad to say about this place <3 :)!!!!!

It gets quite busy on the beach, but prices are incredible for location. The 2 for 10 cocktail deal are excellent. would have stayed longer if we didn't have a child with us. Will definitely be back Friday :)

went for a carvery today and it was the best carvery we've had in a while and trust me we've tried our fair few in torbay. everything was fresh and full of flavour. nowhere around does medium and well done beef 😍😍. only down side we found was having to queue at the bar for ages to order food/drinks then requeue to get our carvery. it's a very busy restaurant so with all the waiting to be served at the bar we didn't order more drinks or desserts which is a shame as the menu looked lovely. there must be a way of table service in the restaurant. we'd be happy to pay when we order

No staff at desk with a sign stating " wait here to be seated". Decide to eventually seat self, server when ordering food/drinks seemed very rude to an elderly man before me and not particularly customer friendly towards myself either. Food came out luke warm like it had been waiting to be brought to us by table staff for a while. At this point I couldn't be bothered to have much to do with the place so thought we will just eat it, when a waiter came and asked how it is I told him it's all came out nearly cold and all the response I got was "oh" with an eye roll. It tasted good enough but would have been better hot from the grill/oven.

This has been our holiday destination of choice for quite a few years now. It's always a great service, rooms are nice especially ones with Seaviews. The beach is literally outside. It has never disappointed and we are looking forward to booking next year's holiday here. Would highly recommend

We all went out for our grandads birthday meal 5 of us got our starters whilst the other 5 was waiting, we went to ask after 5 minutes and the waiter went to the kitchen, for some reason then a different waiter came out with the mains whilst we haven’t even had our starters yet, we sent this back straight away explaining we are still waiting for our starters, 2 minutes later the food came out again explaining we still haven’t got our starters, finally the starters came 5 minutes later. After our starters we said we are ready for our mains but we want fresh ones, they came out 1 minute later and the waiter told us they was just kept warm. Not very impressed finally when the so called fresh ones came out, only 5 of us had our mains whilst the others waited 6 minutes for their mains which was cold not very impressed spoke to 2 different managers first one didn’t seem interested and wanted to offer us free desert, the second one offered us a refund which we took, extremely unhappy here.

Amazing Roast dinner carvery Chef Moses was super lovely and friendly the food was amazing best roast we have had in a long time highly recommend, only thing that was a slight negative was waiting staff weren't very friendly which was a shame chef and team were lovely so that more than made up for it.

Busy place and delicious food. I had the curry and it was very delicious but the curry sauce could do a little bit more on the portion wise 😜 Watch out for the Seagulls 😂

We would never come back. Was waiting to order but the girl refused to serve me as she think another lady was first but I was definitely before. After waiting awhile she called who next even she knew it’s me. Then she asked “ any allergy? What table number?” What make me felt really disrespected. I ordered mixed grill cooked medium but it was well done , so chewy and dry , there was no sausage which should included in this grill. The ticket for car park could not use so I had to come back and asked for another one . Really bad experience

Disappointed with not being able to get the feed the family deal as only available at selected Restaurants, although the website was clear that it was available at all... the manager here wasn't very helpful and refused to honor the deal and refused to take the issue up with Head office, despite all that the food was good, but the cleaning the table took a long while.. its not somewhere we would go again.

The text book example of meh... I went in with low expectations, as it was a chain pub, and it met them exactly. The service was almost non-existent except for the bare minimum. You are made to queue for 30 minutes for the privilege of ordering. While there was a separate queue, at the time, for people only ordering drinks, the existence of this queue, was entirely dependent on whether the staff felt like it. This could easily be solved by putting even just one or two of the many waiting staff, and getting them to take food orders instead. The food on the other hand varies wildly in quality. I went with a group and many of the dishes were perfectly mid. The fish and chips, for example, were serviceable and even an enjoyable meal if the location wasn't next to the ocean. On the other hand, the burger could have an entire paragraph written alone on its mistakes and inadequacies. For example, the burger had no sauce, despite the advertised burger sauce that was supposedly meant to be present. Or the cold, dry and untoasted bun that was worse than store bought. In conclusion, the food is far over priced and if what you are expecting is any more than just a pub that serves mediocre food at best, do not eat here for the price. And if all you want is a cheap pint, then you won't find it here either. I dread to think what their breakfast is like...

Very busy on the day we came but amazingly food arrived very quickly, lovely meal, great outdoor seating! Only draw back for me is dogs are not allowed inside. (Not a problem in garden though) Can't ask for everything!!

Food choice of food. Very helpful staff. My little one ate for free because of a deal which was very handy. The outside seating area is lovely especially when the sun is shining.

Great stay at the premier inn, sadly this restaurant let's it down. Staff behind the bar were friendly but rushed off their feet, breakfast sadly wasn't the greatest. Tables were dirty for hours with plates and glasses everywhere, as for the toilets they were absolutely stinking. Would stay in the premier inn again but would avoid this restaurant.

What can I say… Lisa was so very helpful, I had an issue with a coupon, she fixed it instantly. We then had a minor issue with something abit later on and she went above and beyond to make sure we were ok, even gave the children some extra colouring and activities to do! As a single parent taking 3 children out isn’t for the faint hearted but we were made to feel welcome so thank you for that!

BE AWARE:- The Manager of this restaurant has chosen to no longer honour the Weekday, Lunch Time, Value Menu deal of two meals for £11.99 as advertised on the Brewers Fayre website.

The staff and food are spot on just don’t go near the toilets worst I've ever seen, 1 was blocked full to top in general it stunk of stale pee , the place just needs a good clean my wife said women’s toilets were just as bad outside was dirty too in seating area, this could be packed and be very popular it just has a reputation in Paignton for being dirty .

Visted Sunday for carvery burnt gravy hard roast potatoes a parsnips very little meat all for £22.00 pounds terrible smell burnt gravy tasted too

Very disappointing food , we were a party of 10 the pub was very quiet , meals had to be returned. , to reheat , bacon cheese burger was served with fattier under cooked bacon , in general the meals were poor quality . The Pepsi max dispenser just tasted like soda water . After spending over £130 on food alone we asked to speak to the manager , he apologised and said he would report back to the chef , I suspect he just hears it all day . No offer of money back or deserts . Not that we wanted either but a reconciliation that the experience was unacceptable would be nice

Last night of our holiday, 8 meals. Pie was dry, tikka masala’s were cold, half a bowl of dried up chips, smothered burger had a lump of fat that was meant to be crispy bacon, 10 chips each, half the size of normal chips, whilst we weren’t expecting a gourmet meal at average £13 per head we weren’t expecting something this sub standard. We had eaten out all week in Goodrington and this was the worst food we had been served. When we complained the manager just looked at us, no offer of any kind of compensation.
