We visited the Brewer Fayre in Street today, We were very pleased at the level of service, we received. We were greeted by a young man called Jane, he was very courteous and took us to our table. He told us we had to order our food and drink at the bar, he said if we needed any help to call him. My partner went to the bar and ordered our starter and main meal, we were served by a pleasant lady called Mechelle, we had several coupons which gave us free starters and 50% off our main meal. She dealt with the order in a professional manner. We waited several minutes before the starter came and was asked twice if everything was fine. Our starter was good and plentiful. The main meal Plaice and chips was piping hot and I must say was lovely. We use Brewers Fayre quite often mainly in Bristol but other places we visit. This is the best one we visitedand the staff were a credit to Brewers Fayre.

This is a place if I have friends to take out I know I will get good meals every time. The menu very basic but has a good variation. As regards to steak I myself very rarely have when out. As it is very expensive and you will always have the odd one a bit chewy and that spoils your meal .staff very friendly .but would agree sometimes needs another one behind bar Most reasonable priced meals in area . Have been going there for many years and at the moment find no reason to stop

Visited here on a lunch time. It was fairly busy but most people had already eaten. Food took a long time to come out. We all had lasagne so only had to be warmed up. The children’s portion was half the size it used to be which left my daughter still very hungry. The granary bread that came with it was so small it was embarrassing. Used to come with a lovely chunk of bread. The lady then came to clear our table. We spoke to her & she ignored us. Didn’t make any eye contact or speak to us. Guessing she was the new owner as she wasn’t in uniform & was behind the bar (hadn’t seen her before). Won’t be rushing back.

Sunday lunch at the Two Brewers .Food tasted and looked nice, But £11.50 for one small slice of Lamb is a joke add to that £3 for a small bowel of cauliflower cheese , just seems to be a ripe off . Mentioned my complaint to waitress got no reaction or follow up. Sat with empty plates for 15 mins , while waitress worked around us , decided to leave, waited to pay as bar person was busy wrapping cutlery, voiced our concerns, was informed that she would have to speak to her manager

Got to hand it to the new guys, it’s early days but things are looking up. It’s always been a popular pub but in the last few years it’s been a bit tired but with Sunday Roast back instated and new dishes on the menu with a very sociable and friendly manager with great interesting ideas things are on the way up. This week end was really good with a rugby crowd in on Saturday plus a fun quiz night on Sunday you can’t knock it! Well done guys!

Under new management and will be refurbished in coming months but you have to give them a chance. Always get a warm welcome which is nice. New year evening meal and boy did we have a feed! Really good potatoe skins and salad and really thick homemade tomatoe soup for starters. Followed by superb buttered chicken curry, alongside great Lasagne, really tasty meals! Smaller menu than in the past but this is only temporary and the quality has much improved. Hopefully the upward trend will continue in coming months.

First visit since the change of hands.Atmosphere seemed different when we walked in,not many people generally in the pub! Food still very good even though menu has now been split between lunch and evening, not so much choice anymore! Very disappointed "no omelettes" on the evening menu, they were absolutely superb! Overall an OK experience still,so we will be back but maybe not so often now!

We were staying with relatives who live near Street. They suggested we all go to this pub on a Sunday evening for a meal. It was very cosy inside with no fruit machines or background music which for 2 of us with hearing problems was good. The Staff were friendly and helpful. Whilst they did not have a big range of beers or ciders what they did have was fine for us. The pub menu gave you a good range of meals at a reasonable price. Most main meals were around the £7 to £8 with steak around the £12 mark. Portions were a good size. We were all pleased with our meals/desserts and at the end of the day ended up with a bill for under £70 for 4 of us including drinks! We all found the pub to be very relaxing. Certainly I would have no hesitation in going back there again if we are in the area. If a stranger to Street you may need your Sat Nav to find it!.

What can go wrong with ham, egg and chips? Well quite a lot. Fried eggs were brown and crispy, ham was burnt on one side and so overcooked you couldn't even cut it, mushrooms were dry and shrivelled. Landlords response was 'that's how we always cook it here'. It was taken off the bill though but we won't be returning.

Extremely disappointed with our trip to the two Brewers today. We were approached by the landlord in the car park demanding why we were here.. I explained we were here to eat. Once inside the landlord appeared again at our table and was as equally rude, he wouldn't listen as to why I felt he had addressed us rudely and that his tone isn't very welcoming. He argued Infront of other customers and kept interrupting our lunch.Iv made it clear we will not be returning.

Have popped in to this pub over the years for a drink under various management and has always been so-so. Decided to have a family meal as was recommended by a friend but shouldn't have bothered. The pub prides themselves on having no music so people can converse but on entering the building you could hear a pin drop as everyone stared at someone coming in to disrupt the silence. Complete lack of atmosphere. There slogan was "We don't serve fast food but we serve GOOD food as fast as we can". What a joke! We ordered Chicken Tikka from the 'specials' which was clearly a tinned meal that had just been heated up to nuclear temperatures with not a single fresh ingredient. Almost inedible! It might well be a nice local pub for a quick pint but save your money if you want to eat and head to the high street to one of the other restaurants.

Had the same issue as most people with this pub. Fairly average food with an very impolite and irate landlord who can't understand that kids make a mess. Been here many times, the food is always good although I've stopped having the steak now after last time when it was chewy and inedible and more like rump than sirloin, after complaining(politely and discreetly) I had to really push to get any apology or discount, they finally offered the dessert half price but I didn't feel I really made up for the £10+ inedible sirloin steak. The lasagna is really very good and a decent sized portion and I generally stick with that now as I know what I'm getting and there's not too much that can go wrong with a lasagna. All in all a decent place with good food but I now avoid the steak because it can be an expensive mistake to make if it is unedible with little willingness from their part to put things right.

I have visited and eaten at the Two Brewers several times. It has always in the past been very good.. until Saturday 13th AUGUST. I visited with my sister who was staying for the weekend. The lady behind the bar did not seem to know what she was doing, she took our drinks order o.k. but when we asked to order a bottle of wine, she somehow got rather confused !!We placed our food order then sat at our reserved table. A group then arrived and sat at the table opposite, a gentleman possibly the owner/manager informed them there was a wait of up to an hour for food. We were not told this. Twice the waitresses brought food to our table that we had not ordered and seemed confused when we informed them it was not ours. They wandered around the dining room looking somewhat at a loss as what to do with the food. Our food arrived after 30 minutes, (better than we had expected) and was very good, as always. Nobody bothered to visit our table and ask if everything was o.k. with our meal, something I feel should always be done. The large group at a table opposite had finished their meal and after 30 minutes the dirty dishes had not been collected. I saw a customer from the table collect all the dirty dishes and pile them up at the end of the table herself. They stayed there for the rest of the evening. When I went to the bar to pay for the evening, our dirty dishes were also still on the table. We had finished eating 25 minutes earlier.Yes it was busy but the tables had been reserved so the management knew how many customers were going to eat, and should have made arrangements to bring in extra staff for the evening. Possible my last visit to the Two Brewers.

No big screen telly or canned music, no corporate crockery and cutlery, and no "Sunday Lunch." The owner-run pub was busy when we visited, and ran out of one of the specials about 20 minutes after we arrived at 13:00.The menu offers a wide choice of sandwiches, toasties and baps; jacket potatoes and ploughmans; all-day breakfast and the usual pub offerings like fish & chips, steak, lasagne, chili con carne, a pasta dish and a pie. Specials included garlic chicken breast, steak and ale pie and chicken tikka. Our party was pleased with the standard of the food. The garlic chicken was tasty and not dried out, the lasagne was eaten with enjoyment, whilst the fish got the thumbs up for the crispy batter and moist fish. Portions were generous. The bill for 6, including coffee, was £62. (The filter coffee was the weakest aspect of the offering.)They could have done with another member of staff: we drank our coffee amidst the plates and remains of our lunch because they hadn't been cleared. The owner was keeping a watchful eye and sharing in the serving, taking orders, etc., but an extra pair of hands was needed. The Two Brewers serves Courage, St Austell and a rolling choice of "guest" real ales. The blackboard also displays the wines of the month.A nice place.

I hope this restaurant can pick up again, it does have a nice atmosphere, serves real ale and changes the choice regularly, the waiters are efficient, the food all comes out together for 1 table. it just doesn't have the ol' quality. I don't like microwaved pastry, and that's what I got, it's not how it should be in a restaurant, the jacket potatoe had that horrid re-heated taste, and there were no vegetables available at all - in winter, only lettuce leaves and tasteless tomatoe, not even the humble pea. We live locally and have always enjoyed going here, they really need to address the kitchen problems. Please!

At last we have found a pub, that serves very fresh and local excellent food, and is reasonably priced. But the gem of this place is the Landlord and his attitude to his staff and customers AND there is no piped music or clanging of fruit machines to spoil the ambience of the place. Tucked away this is a country pub hidden in the town centre of Street. Plenty of parking. No carvery but the menu is consistent with daily specials. My wife and I usually pop in to this pub for a meal when visiting relatives living in the Street area. On previous occasions, the food has been excellent. However, we were extremely disappointed with the food served on our last visit. They are now serving meals using a new type of frilly "lettuce" which is extremely bulky. When my wife's meal arrived, she said, "I can't possibly eat all that". She then found out that underneath the grilled vegetables was a huge piece of these leaves taking up half the plate and standing about two inches high. This gave an untrue impression that a larger meal was being served than was actually the case.My meal, a cheese, prawn & mushroom omelette, also had a large piece of this strange vegetation, but my main complaint with the meal was the fact that there were hardly any prawns, only a few tiny pieces of mushroom and I was unable to taste even a hint of cheese. Also, I strongly suspect that the eggs were not free range - totally unacceptable.I may return to the pub at some point in the future for two reasons. The real ale is always in superb condition and there is no "musak" playing in the pub. If I do return I will not be so forgiving and will expect to get better value for money than on my last visit.

I arranged to meet a business associate here and looked it up on TripAdvisor in advance. I was wary of what (only) one reviewer described as ‘greasy’ food, so I checked out food being served to other customers. I was reassured by what I saw and we both had delicious yet inexpensive meals. Some of the staff were foreign but they seemed very decent and courteous young people. The pub has a very female and family friendly atmosphere and an open, clean and relaxing ambience. It was busy with a pleasant clientele but not packed. Yes, many of the staff were foreign but they were efficient, friendly and seemed to be pleasant young people. Before ordering lunch I checked out what other customers were being served. It didn't seem greasy, as one other reviewer has claimed. We both had beef pies with chips and beans and were delighted with our meals. The house red wine was surprisingly pleasant for a pub wine. The public area is spacious and clean and the many customers lunching when we visited all seemed to be happy decent people. It's a very female and family friendly place. I do not live locally but, if I did, I would certainly become a frequent visitor.

The intriguing old has been removed or covered over and been converted to looking like a updated modern interior with just the slightest nod to it's past, so unfortunately has no character, just as boring as any other modernized pub. On the upside it does still retain a pretty courtyard and gated entrance. The staff are friendly and helpful and the selection of drinks is good.

We were staying at the attached premier inn at Frome and were able to book a table easily on the day, and the staff managed to squeeze us in a bit earlier than booking online. Great food, fillet steak & chicken & rib combo. Lovely staff, and many thanks to our server Abi-Ma, got us everything we wanted.
