Frome Flyer in Mendip

Enjoyed Mother's day lunch there. Enjoyed a beef and a turkey roast. Service was good but we went early to avoid the rush.

We hadn't booked, but were seated no problem, after some 20mins Emily took our drinks order, then about 15mins later she took our food order, there was limited starters as they were out of chicken goujons breaded mushrooms and prawns, so we went for crispy chicken wings and they were hot and tasty, my main was fine but hubby's steak and ale pie crust was burnt and too hard to eat,also his peas were gross so he returned his meal, Emily was apologetic and ordered the replacement pie meal, when this came it was much better although the peas were still dreadful, the restaurant wasn't over busy, on the whole not the best beefeater meal but our server Emily was doing her best to rectify things and should be recommended! The staff seem blissfully unaware that this isn't a great place to eat. They seem nice enough, but the food is below par. We came for a Mother's Day breakfast, and the buffet was empty with a queue of people waiting for sausages and bacon. Would have been better off at a Toby Carvery.

Noisy. Food was okay. Steak lukewarm.

It's ok for a beefeater. The staff are friendly and helpful. The foods nothing to write home about, portions are small for the cost. Fish and chips was about best value of the meals we bought. Plenty of parking for those who drive

Good solid pub. Despite being a little overrun and understaffed, the food was quick to arrive and hot and tasty!

Nice little Beefeater with very friendly and diligent staff. The food was standard fare, perfectly serviceable for a Premier Inn bounce and good value. The place itself could do with some tlc from the brand, tables are worn with threadbare varnish, chairs old and the floor seen better days. What happens when a brand does not invest in regular upkeep.

Left waiting noticably while the receiving manager cleared tables. Bench seat plastic cover broken and peeling. Meal deal from Premier Inn has restrictions and resulted in a little confusion over my selection, but not a big issue. The ‘glazed’ pork ribs were more coated in charcoal than any glaze, but were ok/ish. One corn piece (cob) was cold, the other warm. The whole dish was rather dry (I think maybe they were a man/person down as a sign indicated they hadn’t been able to offer roasts for Sunday lunch.) A kit-kat sundae with no kit-kat (run out of stock) was still charged a small premium to the meal-deal, which I foolishly failed to challenge (though the charge was trivial). Service was friendly and notably ‘informal’, but not professional in style. The environment is noisy and a few tables like ours feel very much in the high-traffic corridor of general service. This restaurant needs a refresh and slight repositioning in standards if it wants to maintain brand loyalty. Beefeater goes up and down, though has survived for 50 years (a key brand message currently and something of an achievement in this market); it’s been more up than this in the past. I hope it will be again. Meanwhile I’d choose somewhere else for an evening meal out (though it’s convenient for the hotel when travelling, of course).

No side salad with the double burger or chicken burger, not many chips either. It was nice though and the service was good. The “comes with slaw” is a bit of a joke, a lot more would be lovely. The carpet needed a good vacuum and it wasn’t that late in the day. I don’t think £45 for two meals and two drinks was value for money.

Lily served us and did a fantastic job. Unfortunately, she got a lot of stick from other customers, but she was working on her own. Lily was always smiling and helpful and made the visit even more special.

I went to eat here yesterday with family. There were no eggs, no chunky chips and no halloumi. We waited over 20 minutes for our drinks and one of them was not what we ordered. When the food finally came after over half an hour the chicken and saugases on the mixed grill ( with no eggs ) were inedible. The cheesy chips had tomato ketchup,( which i didn't ask for and don't like), underneath a plastic square of cheese and were cold. The coleslaw was clearly left over as it was watery and gone yellow. The plant burger was burnt on one side. We refused to eat any of the food, sent it back and didn't pay for it. The waitress was on her own, clearly stressed and rude. We would never go there again. We weren't the only ones complaining. Dreadful.

Food is ok, nothing special. Customer service is non existent. Waited a long time to be seated as server pretended not to see anyone waiting and went to collect glasses. We were told order needed to be taken quickly as the chefs don't like to wait. Only half of child's meal came out and when we requested the rest the server went to serve someone else instead. Servers stood chatting and on their phones, not available to customers. When the rest of the child's meal was brought out it was quickly placed on the table by a server who gave us no time to speak to her.

Arrived to this grubby place to be greeted by cigarette butts all around the entrance &the whole exterior grubby.eventually got seated to sticky tables with sticky menus.waited 20 minutes then was about to leave with kids getting bored.the very rude waitress said she was on her own.was told 3 of the mains we ordered were not available, meanwhile got served a cider in a Stella glass I asked for stella.the baeman replied it happens.cuttlery was filthy,floor discusting.staff very rude.never again.

Natalie was fantastic. She made us all feel very welcome and made my daughter feel like a VIP. She was magic according to my little one. Well done all. Thank you.

This restaurant has become a regular for us. We are in love with the glorious food that is cooked to perfection every time, but also we come for the friendly and wonderful staff. Natalie in particular is always someone who goes above and beyond for us and treats us like long time friends whenever we go in. She's polite, courteous, divine company, and just perfect service. We look forward to seeing her when we go and the many others who have such a friendly welcome.

Food was sent back twice both times cold. Over priced .chairs were all stained .not a very nice place .if you want to waste your money then go here. Was the worst food i ever have had .breakfast good selection but luke warm .😒😔

Absolutely fabulous meal top class service

We booked a table as a way to break up our journey home from South Wales to Southampton. Sat at the table, given the allergy information as my husband has a milk intolerance was told they would come back for drinks order. 25 minutes of other guests being served we still hadn’t had a drinks order taken so left and went to a Greene King pub closer to home.

Went for a valentines meal with my husband . Ordered off the 3 course set valentines menu. I had a coke and my husband had a Stella top . The starters and mains came out with no issues . Ordered our desserts and another pint of Stella. The desserts came out and whilst we were half way through eating them the manager came over and said that she couldn't give my husband another pint as she had had reports that he was slurring and we were both being rowdy !!! We were just sat quietly chatting and having a meal and enjoying some quiet time together. as parents of 2 teenagers this is very rare . I am disgusted that this has happened and feel really insulted and upset . This cost us £57 to be made to feel humiliated and stupid .

Good, no nonsense food. Nice selection of beers and good service.

Really had a great time with our large party of 12 and a bit. Service was great, the Manager was exceptional and proffessional with jer service, even though there was a staff shortage that night due to last minute sickness. The girl on the tables was great and did a brilliant job of catwring for us and all the other tables! Once more staff came in later, the banter and service at the bar was great! Well done! The meal deal was good, either 2 or 3 course + drink. Caters for wheelchairs + high chairs for babies. Breakfast Unlimited option was also great the next morning. Cooked fry up available, continental, toast, juice's, coffee tea - Usual items. Great to start off your day with! The Premier Inn team were also great amd welcoming. If your thinking about staying/eating here, its a defo yes from me, no complaints at all!

Tim your restaurant is the best. We return many many times and are never put off. The service is 2nd to none and the food and menu tge best by far. The staff are friendly, attentive, happy and a pleasure to engage in conversation. Never a negative word to say about any of them. The food is tasty and wholesome. Always a few vouchers to be had also. I had the best ever steak on Saturday. (I only have steak not very often). I have it well done and was perfect. For once I finished my plate. Thank you to you Tim and all the staff fir making us feel welcome. See you real soon.

What’s a fantastic meal. For a chain establishment the salmon was absolutely delicious and the cheesecake on par, whateverspoons doesn’t even get close, you may pay a little bit extra at beefeater but it’s well worth it, staff were great the only thing that let it down was the loud builders in the corner, on the venue’s defence I did opt to dine in the bar area…. And not the restaurant.

My parter had the fish and chips the fish was grey and the batter was wet soggy and full of fat

Booked a table on line for 4people it was a special day as took our granddaughter out to lunch for her 16th birthday we went when they opened for lunch at 12 noon we were first there we had to wait an hour later our meals arrived if I had a gun I would of shot the chef it was discussing we ordered 3 steaks it came out chips steak half tomato no peas no mushrooms when I ask them the waitress said they had ran out of peas and mushrooms how could this of been when just opened my husband ordered fillet steak it was so thin and fatty there was no way it was fillet my granddaughter ordered burger in bun I stated no salad or cheese or garnish but it came out with it the bill came to £140 with drinks to be honest it’s the worst meal we’ve had I wouldn’t of given it to my dog won’t be going again to the frome flyer discussed

Female manager very miserable and felt unwelcoming

Stayed at the Premier Inn next door, had two breakfasts, and an afternoon meal at the Beefeater. Staff were welcoming and friendly, the dinner was served hot. Service was very good.

Items unavailable on both nights we visited, but not told until we tried to order. Steak pie was very mediocre and wedges were actually steak cut chips! Lasagne size varied between servings and could have been hotter. Couldn't offer a table first night until 20.45 and then we were being chased to leave the restaurant at 21.45 as they were closing! Good job we didn't want a sweet.

The sunday roast was laced with too much pepper. Roasters soft. Slow service due to a lack of staff. The interior is tired. Dirty carpets. Worn out furniture. Toilets dim lit and dirty. No soap in soap dispenser. All this was enough to put us off and wont come again.

Nice and welcoming staff, a bit waiting at the buffet as needed topping up, clean, good location.

Couldn't get through on the phone to say we were running late,just rang and rang. The atmosphere was ok,nothing special.Walked past some men swearing at the bar. No fresh raspberries,run out for my pudding. I had to ask not informed. Overall it was a good base to meet family. The table staff ladies were really helpful and friendly.

Good price and the food was fresh- even though it was busy. Very attentive waitress- I think her name was Lily- she got hot water for our baby bottle and made sure we were looked after.

The staff are friendly but the breakfast leaves a lot to be desired. Sausages only cooked on one side. The sliced bread was stale and hard. Ths beans were barely warm. Other than that the bacon was delicious and cooked well, the eggs were lovely. Tea, Coffee and juice station were easily looked after and very clean

Food was average the service was bad not enough staff and what staff was there were not very good

Dinner was cold for everyone in our party (4) and had to be sent straight back. 2 meals came back within minutes but our friends had to wait 15 minutes to get there’s back by which time we had nearly finished. I ordered roast turkey and my plate was swimming in water clearly the veg had not been drained properly. The gravy was lumpy and as it was all over the meals it was difficult to avoid the lumps. It could clearly be seen but waiter didn’t seemed concerned with serving it like that. Order drinks a wine and a Fanta between courses and after chasing them up twice we finally got them 25 minutes later. Took them 3 attempts to get the correct deserts delivered to us all so again we were all eating at different times deserts were very nice though. Final insult was being overcharged as dishes we hadn’t had been added to our bill. Definitely will not be visiting here again as staff didn’t seem to care and no apologies offered or any compensation such as a free drink. Very poor customer service

Just really dirty everywhere, floors, stained chairs. Staff are really nice such a shame. But there’s no excuse for carpets to have such food mess.

Stayed next door at the Premier Inn. Had been disappointed to learn late in the day that the restaurant needed booking as it was nearly full. However they accommodated us for a late evening meal and again for breakfast at the time we wanted. So all in all not too bad. Food and service as expected.

We stayed in the Premier Inn next to the Frome Flyer recently after a lovely trip to Longleat for the festive Christmas lights. Our breakfast in the morning was really good. Lots on offer including plenty of hot buffett food for a full English 😋 . Very friendly and helpful staff and a great location 👍. Perfect if you are going to visit Longleat as it's only 10 minutes down the road. We will definitely visit again. Keep up the good work guys, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all the team.

Had dinner and breakfast the next day, nice food friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.

We stayed in the Frome Premier inn and dined in the beefeater restaurant also, the sirloin steaks was lovely and cooked to perfection 👌 The staff was all friendly and welcoming a nice end to a lovely day out at longleat Festival of light. We would definitely stay and dine again 😁 keep up the good work 👏

Had two visits and each one was excellent food very good and served hot not Luke warm like a lot of places.Staff friendly and efficient and work hard

Nice hearty breakfast to start the day and plenty of options. Well kept restaurant and friendly helpful staff.

We had a table booked for 8pm, shown to our table order our meal but had to wait 45 minutes for it to arrive. The food was very dry and my wife had ice cream as a pudding which was tasteless and couldn’t be eaten. The staff had no personality and just walked around expressionless. We did mention this at the time but we did not get any reaction.

Won't stay there again. Stayed at the premier which even with renovation work was still great stay. But the beefeater was asked to book for evening meal but website wouldn't let us so ended up at a order at the bar table which was not that great and went down for breakfast which 75% of it was cold and that was the cooked breakfast there was no porridge and for the extra cost paid was very disappointing hence the score and when spoke to the so called staff member he stated he would sort out fresh cooked and porridge didn't bother was to busy putting up Christmas decorations for the bar.

On the plus side I had a perfectly cooked blue fillet steak and my husband's ribs were good. Also the waitress was lovely. This is why I have given 3 stars, otherwise it would have been one star! Basically they had no food! They had run out of all of the starters and the majority of the mains, the only steak was fillet, no chicken, no mixed grill, and when our main courses arrived there were items missing, no tomato or mushroom with the steak, no corn or sauce with the ribs and when we queried it with the male server a brusque "we haven't got any". I have never experienced anything quite like this, can't wait for breakfast 😂.

We were staying at the attached premier inn at Frome and were able to book a table easily on the day, and the staff managed to squeeze us in a bit earlier than booking online. Great food, fillet steak & chicken & rib combo. Lovely staff, and many thanks to our server Abi-Ma, got us everything we wanted.

The children's meal was poor and cold

Possibly the worst burger I have ever tasted, like shoe leather, brioche bun was awful and I got about 10 chips. Wanted fish but run out My partner had curry but no rice had run out. Cheap for a reason.

Went into the beefeater for the continental breakfast with just 9 minutes left on the breakfast. They served me promptly and didn't rush me even though I continued eating past 10.30. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful will be back soon!

Great place to eat. Late in the evening, so we felt lucky to find a place in the area that was serving good food. Did not realise they took the Blue Light Card, never thought to ask, so missed out there

Restaurant empty, but made to eat in bar area, service was fast food poor. Would normally spend around £40 but eat and left after one drink and a burger Poor experience for a major chain.

Danni has been tremendous to us guys staying here for the last couple of months, nothing has been too much of an effort to help us, and she make us feel welcome. She is a credit to the Frome Flyer and I wish more more hospitality staff had the integrity and drive she has displayed during our stay. 😃

Popped in for breakfast on 01-09-24 at 10:40am (breakfast finishes at 11am), the service from staff was helpful & polite, the food was fantastic, all items available despite breakfast period being almost over. The resteraunt was clean, tidy & unlike some places, we were made to feel welcome. Thankyou

The mushroom for starter was hard and difficult to eat. The fish batter was overcooked and the fish was tasteless, the chips and the dessert were ok. Staff seemed in a rush to serve us as main was brought out before we had finished our starter. No De-caff. Coffee available

Food, service and atmosphere excellent. A nice place to eat, only marred today by the fact that beefeater(head office?) wouldn't honour the blue light card, my wife being NHS staff, no explanation why?

We stopped over on a road trip and eat at the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and drinks. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Special mention to the Charlee and Lisa who were very friendly and professional.

Front of house staff are great, felt as if they were pushed to seat everyone, food was OK, drinks didn't arrive until we finished our meal, was told I only have 1 bar staff on and drinks were just dumped on the table, I understand your busy but a little more courteous goes a long way.

Poor food it was cold and the quality was not great either, we stayed at the hotel next door and should have gone to a different restaurant, would definitely not recomend.

Came Saturday 24th August, lady booking in managed to get us an earlier table which we really appreciated. Food was lovely but the best bit is the waiting staff, very friendly, helpful and amenable especially our male waiter, Rob.

Not great. The prawn cocktail arrived with a slice of white bread, unbuttered and not fully defrosted. The bbq smothered chicken was ok. There was no salad (it is advertised on the menu as having salad) , just coleslaw. The chips were ok and the chicken was ok until I spotted a black "thing" underneath the chicken. It was the congealed burnt fat you find at the bottom of the grill pan. It had solidified into a black burnt mass about 3 inches by 2 . Horrible. I spoke to the manager who was lovely and offered me a free drink or desert which I declined. She thought the black mass was burnt/melted cheese but it wasn't. I had a tiny taste and it was definitely burnt, black, congealed fat. Vile. Breakfast the following morning was ok. The eggs were cold and hard and had clearly been cooked many hours before. Not a great experience.

what a great place, pleasant staff, quick service , plenty of space in large car park. great choice of food and very tasty. easy to book a table on line.

We popped in for lunch on a Tuesday. Loads of choice between the full menu, 8 for less than £8 menu and a good kids' menu. Food arrived quickly, really hot and plentiful and staff were friendly and professional. Highly recommend.

We were seated within 2 minutes of us arriving at the front desk. Our waitress, Pat, came to take our orders and informed us that as the restaurant was very busy there could be a delay on food. Our drinks came promptly and our food arrived within 10 minutes of the order being taken. All in all, we were there for 1 hour and in this time had a 3 course meal. Food was hot and portion sizes were excellent. Big thanks to Pat for being so friendly and welcoming. An asset to the restaurant.

Food was very yummy, hot and served promptly, portion size was excellent The service was brilliant and it was a lot better than at Wolverhampton North our waitress, Pat, was very nice and good. Would recommend this restaurant.

Ordered a mixed Grill...You could tell it had been cooked earlier also everything was covered in Black Pepper to give the impression it was hot food..absolutely disgusting..no way I could eat it..managed about a 1/3...The most disgusting meal out ever. Waitress offered for me to speak to the Manager but short staffed so he didn't need my complaint...Never again and best avoided in my humble opinion

Clearly a place that doesn’t expect people to return and very much for people passing through. Not an ounce of care taken to cook or plate the food. Poor quality. A waste of money. Slightly fearful my child and I may get food poisoning. I would avoid.

The lady who served us on Tuesday the 6th.. long blonde hair and glasses was fantasic... so lovely with my toddler :)

We made an impromptu visit during a long journey. Despite being informed on arrival that they were very short staffed tonight, the food arrived quickly and was cooked to perfection. We both ordered steaks, which were cooked exactly to our liking and better quality than we were expecting. We will definitely call in again when we pass through the area next year.

Their breakfast are good main meals not so good lack of variety, especially fish dishes

Visited with my mum and daughter on her 5th birthday when she was doing half days starting school and we had the most wonderful time. Mark served us and spotted it was my daughter’s birthday; he went off and put together a lovely party bag of things for her including a colouring book and colours. It was really lovely and made our day! Outstanding service!

Had a roast dinner and I must say was one of the best I have had in a while

Ensure you order a kids' pudding at the time of ordering from the kids' menu or you will be charged £0.99 additionally. Don't expect to be informed of this at the time of ordering. From the member of staff when we realised - 'its only 99p'. Not impressed.
