Frome Flyer in Mendip

Passing by on a monday tea time..restaurant area was fully booked but we were able to eat in bar area..we chose chicken burger and fries that hit the spot..efficient and friendly service.

Whoever is in the kitchen just can’t cook or doesn’t want to cook . Steak overcooked and unseasoned , fried egg was solid, chips were ok , the peas were overcooked and almost mushy. Service was excellent even tho understaffed

We went for both breakfast and dinner, both times the restaurant was busy. During dinner it took a long time to get drinks. The refillable soft drinks could only be refilled by the wait staff at the bar which was annoying. Also there was a bit of a wait for breakfast items to be refilled during unlimited breakfast so there was a long que. Overall great food and great staff it’s just a shame that it was so busy and not enough service staff.

Went to the Frome Flyer with a friend for food . The food was amazing i had a mixed grill good value for money . The young lady Nat was helpfull polite and her customer service was spot on, a credit to the company . Would reccomend food here great value and great food .

Beefeater at Frome Flyer is my favourite place to eat, mainly because the menu offers a wide variety to choose from and is always well prepared and presented beautifully. Our waitress for the evening was Nat and she was very polite, friendly and professional. I had the rack of ribs and as usual was delicious. Really can't fault this place and look forward to our next visit.

Worst beefeater I have ever been in ! Waiting 45 min plus for food and drink. Don't recommend

Went with friends for dinner. Food was as expected but the table service for drinks was woeful, why do bottom less soft drinks but require a waitress to order and fetch from the bar? Waiting 15mins for a coke is ridiculous

Breakfast was fabulous, poached eggs and fried eggs especially.

Went there at five for food and the lady at the door said come back after 6 as we busy now so we did and then she said only bar open now and me and my family couldn't have food ridiculous

The room is good, the food tastes great, could be a little cheaper.

The worst Beefeater I've ever been to! Arrived just before 5pm to be told couldn't have a table for 3 because hadn't booked, when the restaurant had only 1 table being served! In the whole time we were there 45 minutes, only 2 other customers came into the restaurant!! Told we could order food from the bar, and sit anywhere we wanted! Food came out fairly quickly, which should have been evidence that it wasn't cooked properly! Whilst the chips were hot on the outside they were hard in the middle! Both the burger and the ribs had a burnt flavour to them, and no it wasn't a "flame grilled" flavour just burnt! Will not be going back to any Beefeater in a hurry!

To all the staff, thank you for the welcome and service you gave us during our stay, nothing was to much trouble and it was so nice to be greeted a smile whenever we spoke to any of the staff. We can only recommend, thank you for making our stay what it was.

Very slow on taking the food order, no food what we order because they run out of stock and long time waiting to get the food. The chairs are dirty with stains. But still taking on customers when they can cope with later customers. Very very disappointed with Beefeater's and is the worst place I have been in all Beefeater.

Food was lovely, great service from a lovely lad called Becky, gave us everything we needed and was very kind! All round great experience.

Had a great filet steak, the staff are also lovely. Becky was great help to me and my family even though she was flat out busy! Would recommend

No roast on a Easter Sunday run out no ribs no fries no puddding no half chickens no stirlion steaks basslet no food available at 5pm

Very disappointing today. No orange juice. Sirloin steak meal small with just half tomato,1 mushroom,few chips. Extras like onion rings £4+ extra,no sweet potato chips available. Child's steak asked for well done,arrived still pink, mashed potato was vile tasting,tiny,old & lumpy with brown crust on...

We had a lovely ultimate roast on a busy Easter Sunday, the food was perfectly cooked and absolutely spot on! Service was brilliant from all staff, Lilly who served us was very attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend

Good value for price ,this restaurant is very busy , need booking , Lilly is very helpful, although is Busy, she try her best in many ways.. I things I don’t like ,when I order grill broccoli stems, kitchen running out of ingredients.. without informed me and send me grill mixed peppers and mushrooms… to be honest I don’t mind the mushrooms.. it’s the peppers that I don’t like .. but in the end the dish had take off from my bill. Thank you Lily ‘s help.

Staying in the hotel next door, reserved a table online and when me and my family arrived we were seated very quickly and out waitress Alysia took our drinks order very quickly and informed us about what was unavailable. I ordered the double crunch chicken...

Lilly our waitress was very attentive and although busy nothing was too much and the food was lovely. Great atmosphere and very clean.

Food was pleasantly homely and tasty, came reasonably quickly considering how busy they were! Ruby, our server, was polite and courteous!

We had a lovely lunch at the Frome Flyer. The mixed grill and sides were cooked perfectly. The service from Lilly was great, we really enjoyed our visit.

Been here lots of times and it never disappoints. The staff are all really nice.

Called in today 20th March 2024 with my wife and her parents, on our first visit. The place was very quiet. Were kept waiting far too long at the 'please wait to be seated' sign by an unsmiling, disinterested woman. Eventually she led us to a table that she allocated (not allowing us to choose), and telling us on the way without any sense or word of apology that, "if the food is late, it's because of staff shortages". When we got to the table, the fabric-upholstered chairs were filthy, with both stains and food debris from previous diners. At that point we'd had enough, and walked out. On the way out, I noticed that other chairs were equally dirty or had ripped seat cushions. We won't be returning. Can't award any stars for food, service etc, because we chose not to stay.

Lovely food and fast efficient service! Ordered a steak and it was cooked to perfection, good deal for a main and pudding. Lilly was super friendly and helpful

Brilliant service, friendly waitress and waiter. Best service we've had from a pub/restaurant next to a premier Inn. Couldn't fault them.

Food was very nice - salmon fillet and beer battered fish and chips. Service was a bit slow because there weren’t enough staff on duty. The ones that were, worked hard, with smiles on their faces and engaged with customers.

We visited the Frome Flyer Beefeater tonight and was friendly greeted and taken to a nice round table in a nice part of the restaurant to celebrate our daughter’s 28th birthday Natalie was our waitress who seemed to be serving and cleaning lots of tables but still greeted us with a smile and assisted whenever we needed anything politely and in a friendly manner.She even had to deal with a whole drink spilt by our 7 month old grandson and a smashed glass but was unphased and soon had things under control and sorted out.Drinks were replenished and the birthday cake was brought out at the right time. Prices were very good at about £25 each for two courses including a few drinks each and the kids menu was excellent value for money at £6.99 We had a great night felt valued by all the staff who were all fantastic and also a shout out to the kitchen staff for their food. Would highly recommend and is the third visit in just a few months and will be returning again- well done to all the team at the Frome Flyer/ Beefeater your a great team

Food not very warm, if you have the unfortunate event if sitting under the aircon in winter then 'hot' anything just isn't a thing. 1 coffee machine, 5 min wait for mugs, very small selection of food. But, if you just fancy some grub aren't fussy it's alright.

Henry our server was fantastic as with all the staff they all worked well together, food was lovely, hot and no waiting for it at a good price too.

Staying in hotel next door told bar fully booked and no waitress so can't take a table. Cracking service thx. Will be asking company not to put me up here again in future if that's how you treat customers by turning them away

Becky has been awesome, she has looked after us and made us feel so welcome throughout our stays over the last few months.

Had a Mother’s Day set meal of two courses today. Roast beef dinner and One in a million dessert. Absolutely delicious with great service and lovely staff. Highly recommend at all times.

Came in on a Tuesday afternoon so obviously quiet. Greeted quickly and placed. Food came out in good time and was pretty good. I had the curry which was lovely and my partner had a chicken burger which she was pleased with. The desserts were very very good! Amy served us and was absolutely lovely! She helped when we had a Coke all over the table issue and was really polite and lovely! She definitely gets 5 stars!

A group of us went for buffet breakfast and it was great!! Service was spot on, such lovely staff and really helpful. The food was so good and it was all you can eat for a tenner. I will definitely be going again.

Highly recommended, food was absolutely amazing well cooked and plenty of it. Had the meal deal as we were staying in the Premier inn highly recommended this as its fantastic quality and price.. Beefeater is a little overpriced otherwise

Tiny portions. Budget coleslaw and mayonnaise. Not value for money. The size of the meals are only worth, I would say £7 to £8 not £14 +. ( but they were nice) Had a lovely waitress that disappeared halfway through service. A long wait until food was served, booked for 6pm didn't leave until 9pm.

We were greeted in a friendly and professional manner. Plenty of options on the menu, our food order was taken in a timely manner and the food was excellent. Overall our experience at The Frome Flyer was Exceptional. We will certainly be dining here again shortly.

Food was cooked good but appalling small portions (more like children's size). I had 12 chips with a bite size burger and some cheap coleslaw. That cost near £15. My wife had a similar deal with 12 chips and a vegetarian chicken breast, veg bacon and coleslaw at £14.50. For the price I would not return. Service was good (no problems there). Dining chairs grubby and old looking.

Food was ok for what it is (had buffet breakfast) Good range of continental although juices were not cold. Friendly service and welcome, good price point and setup just improve the hot buffet a bit and would of given 5*. Would return.

Staff are lovely and do best. But sadly, understaffed, food mediocre and expensive. Could have dinner one night as booked out, second one booked late as only available slot. Breakfast when staying at Premier Inn wasn't the best and no available tables. Sorry guys, won't be back :-(

We had dinner here one Sunday evening during a recent stay at the attached Premier Inn, the food was good and arrived within a reasonable time following our order. Unfortunately quite a few menu options were unavailable, limiting our choice somewhat, but the staff were apologetic about this and we did find something we liked on the menu.

Food was lovely however was not what we ordered, also misgendered my partner on multiple occu

Came into tonight for a mixed grill and a couple of drinks and Tim and the team looked after me even though they were all busy all still happy and smiling

This is a shout out to Natalie who gave us a great service. Our welcome was not great as we were greeted with we are a skeleton staff and you can’t eat until 5 and my residents come first! At 5 we asked again to be seated and Natalie was our waitress the food was average we had steaks but her service was absolutely outstanding! Thank you Natalie definitely manager material!

Just been turned away because they are too busy. The place was empty and our two kids are hungry! It was 16.50. They could have squeezed us in, but we were told "just because I don't look busy, doesn't mean I'm not". We've found somewhere else where they made eye contact with us, and welcomed us warmly. I suggest you do too! Definitely not rushing back...

For my Birthday I'd received an email from the Frome Flyer Beefeater offering me a free meal, which I was happy to accept. On previous visits there we had enjoyed the Sunday roasts but this time we booked for Sunday evening. Greeted warmly by the waiter and Mr. Mark the manager, who had a good table for us and quickly brought our drinks. Our food was tasty and I also enjoyed a couple of Birthday cocktails (2 for a tenner) from Natalie, our friendly waitress. I'm glad I joined the Beefeater Rewards club, and gratefully enjoyed my free Birthday meal. Looking forward to our next visit soon.

Came for the buffet breakfast for the price it was a good breakfast with plenty of options. The restaurant is family focused, meaning it's a great place to take the children.

Busy place but served promptly. Very useful family diner if staying at the adjoining Premier Inn at the end of a long day visiting Longleat. Usual limited Beefeater fayre but no surprises...you know what you are in for and it delivers to standard

Couldn't fault the plated lamb roast, beautifully cooked and really tasty. Definitely value for money. Staff were very pleasant and accommodating, was just a shame about the torn, tired and dirty furnishings letting the place down.

Went 4 my grandsons birthday 19th December, warm cosy, lovely food & service was great by Mark & went again 2day 7th January, great service & Mark was so friendly & made us feel all welcome.

We was served by Mark who was jovial throughout the whole meal and experience. Would recommend and will definitely return when in the area.

Stopped here for a bite to eat, well we hoped, multiple staff walked past us whilst we waited to be seated , no one acknowledged us, some staff just stared past us as if we weren’t there. Left after 5 minutes waiting. Couldn’t comment on food as we didn’t have chance to try. Staff looked very grumpy.

We arrived here with a Groupon voucher, which I declared on arrival. However when we were shown to our table I was not happy about the state of the dining chairs. They were very stained and I was not happy about sitting on them. The waitress showed us another table with vinyl seating which was acceptable. This meant we had a different waitress who was much more pleasant. Our meals were ordered and enjoyed. On presentation of the bil,l I again had to mention we had a Groupon voucher, which seemed to cause a problem. Eventually it was sorted but, it was all a bit embarrassing 😳

They stop serving food at 9 o'clock in the evening.. Young members of staff showing attitude problems as they were stomping around complaining and slamming the till and drawers. Also the staff don't abide by health and hygiene rules regarding handling food and cross-contamination. Member of staff at breakfast checked the bin with his hands then proceeded to put muffins out without tongs or washing his hands. Disgusting.

Had lunch on 20th December Place was fairly busy but they had run out of fish and therefore for a non meat eater the menu was limited, but my wife managed to get Egg Chips Peas and pineapple without the gammon steak. Staff very helpful and attentive. I ordered Chicken & Ribs which was dry and overcooked and looked as if it had been standing around under heat lamps Deserts were the best part of both meals. Sorry we won't be coming here again

Went to the Frome flyer for dinner. Unfortunately didn't have some things from the kids menu which my children really wanted and we weren't told this prior to ordering. Service was OK, they were really busy as expected for the time of year. Food was alright although the kids festive burger was extremely dry. Pudding went down well although not the original choice due being unavailable. Not sure I'd visit anytime soon

Food was really good thank you My only grip was I was left waiting 10 minutes to be seated, while the manager was doing admin and I am disabled so standing is difficult. In the end I sat down at another table and waited as I couid not stand anymore.

Booked a table for the evening and for breakfast as we stayed in the adjoining Premier Inn. Both tables were given to another customer resulting in a slight wait. Ordered a mixed grill and items were missing from the dish. Breakfast was a fiasco, the hot food looked like it was all thrown together on the buffet, the plates for continental were full of crumbs from the items displayed over the top of them, so not good for allergy sufferers. Couldn't find any cups for the coffee and when I did the machine stopped working. Staff just couldn't keep up with the volume of customers.

People kept pushing in the queue for the bar and no sign to say where to queue. Service was terrible

Staff were great & very busy but attentive enough to make sure you had all you needed. A busy night with almost a full house. Lots of large family groups - child friendly. The food was delicious. Would recommend there festive menu 🥰 The turkey dinner was very nice!

After being told that there were no tables in the restaurant, we were told that we could have a table in the bar. The light at table 76 couldn't be much lower as I hit my head on it twice, and I'm only 5' 9". I decided to have the fish, which was very enjoyable, but unfortunately when it was delivered to our table I had to ask about the lack of tartare sauce, only to be told that you had run out. I did expect someone from management to at least apologise. In my personal opinion, I believe that it is bad management coupled with shoddy stock control!

Had a lovely meal with family. Great value. Fish and chips were lovely.
