Frome Flyer in Mendip

Couldn't get through on the phone to say we were running late,just rang and rang. The atmosphere was ok,nothing special.Walked past some men swearing at the bar. No fresh raspberries,run out for my pudding. I had to ask not informed. Overall it was a good base to meet family. The table staff ladies were really helpful and friendly.

The whole place needs a refurbishment chipped walls dirty carpets dirty toilets dirty cutlery the food not too bad but off putting to sit in an unkempt restaurant no attention to detail

Good price and the food was fresh- even though it was busy. Very attentive waitress- I think her name was Lily- she got hot water for our baby bottle and made sure we were looked after.

The staff are friendly but the breakfast leaves a lot to be desired. Sausages only cooked on one side. The sliced bread was stale and hard. Ths beans were barely warm. Other than that the bacon was delicious and cooked well, the eggs were lovely. Tea, Coffee and juice station were easily looked after and very clean

Food was average the service was bad not enough staff and what staff was there were not very good

Dinner was cold for everyone in our party (4) and had to be sent straight back. 2 meals came back within minutes but our friends had to wait 15 minutes to get there’s back by which time we had nearly finished. I ordered roast turkey and my plate was swimming in water clearly the veg had not been drained properly. The gravy was lumpy and as it was all over the meals it was difficult to avoid the lumps. It could clearly be seen but waiter didn’t seemed concerned with serving it like that. Order drinks a wine and a Fanta between courses and after chasing them up twice we finally got them 25 minutes later. Took them 3 attempts to get the correct deserts delivered to us all so again we were all eating at different times deserts were very nice though. Final insult was being overcharged as dishes we hadn’t had been added to our bill. Definitely will not be visiting here again as staff didn’t seem to care and no apologies offered or any compensation such as a free drink. Very poor customer service

Had dinner and breakfast the next day, nice food friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.

Just really dirty everywhere, floors, stained chairs. Staff are really nice such a shame. But there’s no excuse for carpets to have such food mess.

We stayed in the Premier Inn next to the Frome Flyer recently after a lovely trip to Longleat for the festive Christmas lights. Our breakfast in the morning was really good. Lots on offer including plenty of hot buffett food for a full English 😋 . Very friendly and helpful staff and a great location 👍. Perfect if you are going to visit Longleat as it's only 10 minutes down the road. We will definitely visit again. Keep up the good work guys, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all the team.

Stayed next door at the Premier Inn. Had been disappointed to learn late in the day that the restaurant needed booking as it was nearly full. However they accommodated us for a late evening meal and again for breakfast at the time we wanted. So all in all not too bad. Food and service as expected.

Not good buffet breakfast was cold

We stayed in the Frome Premier inn and dined in the beefeater restaurant also, the sirloin steaks was lovely and cooked to perfection 👌 The staff was all friendly and welcoming a nice end to a lovely day out at longleat Festival of light. We would definitely stay and dine again 😁 keep up the good work 👏

Had two visits and each one was excellent food very good and served hot not Luke warm like a lot of places.Staff friendly and efficient and work hard

We had a table booked for 8pm, shown to our table order our meal but had to wait 45 minutes for it to arrive. The food was very dry and my wife had ice cream as a pudding which was tasteless and couldn’t be eaten. The staff had no personality and just walked around expressionless. We did mention this at the time but we did not get any reaction.

Won't stay there again. Stayed at the premier which even with renovation work was still great stay. But the beefeater was asked to book for evening meal but website wouldn't let us so ended up at a order at the bar table which was not that great and went down for breakfast which 75% of it was cold and that was the cooked breakfast there was no porridge and for the extra cost paid was very disappointing hence the score and when spoke to the so called staff member he stated he would sort out fresh cooked and porridge didn't bother was to busy putting up Christmas decorations for the bar.

On the plus side I had a perfectly cooked blue fillet steak and my husband's ribs were good. Also the waitress was lovely. This is why I have given 3 stars, otherwise it would have been one star! Basically they had no food! They had run out of all of the starters and the majority of the mains, the only steak was fillet, no chicken, no mixed grill, and when our main courses arrived there were items missing, no tomato or mushroom with the steak, no corn or sauce with the ribs and when we queried it with the male server a brusque "we haven't got any". I have never experienced anything quite like this, can't wait for breakfast 😂.

We were staying at the attached premier inn at Frome and were able to book a table easily on the day, and the staff managed to squeeze us in a bit earlier than booking online. Great food, fillet steak & chicken & rib combo. Lovely staff, and many thanks to our server Abi-Ma, got us everything we wanted.

The children's meal was poor and cold

Possibly the worst burger I have ever tasted, like shoe leather, brioche bun was awful and I got about 10 chips. Wanted fish but run out My partner had curry but no rice had run out. Cheap for a reason.

Went into the beefeater for the continental breakfast with just 9 minutes left on the breakfast. They served me promptly and didn't rush me even though I continued eating past 10.30. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful will be back soon!

Great place to eat. Late in the evening, so we felt lucky to find a place in the area that was serving good food. Did not realise they took the Blue Light Card, never thought to ask, so missed out there

Danni has been tremendous to us guys staying here for the last couple of months, nothing has been too much of an effort to help us, and she make us feel welcome. She is a credit to the Frome Flyer and I wish more more hospitality staff had the integrity and drive she has displayed during our stay. 😃

Restaurant empty, but made to eat in bar area, service was fast food poor. Would normally spend around £40 but eat and left after one drink and a burger Poor experience for a major chain.

The mushroom for starter was hard and difficult to eat. The fish batter was overcooked and the fish was tasteless, the chips and the dessert were ok. Staff seemed in a rush to serve us as main was brought out before we had finished our starter. No De-caff. Coffee available

Popped in for breakfast on 01-09-24 at 10:40am (breakfast finishes at 11am), the service from staff was helpful & polite, the food was fantastic, all items available despite breakfast period being almost over. The resteraunt was clean, tidy & unlike some places, we were made to feel welcome. Thankyou

We stopped over on a road trip and eat at the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and drinks. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Special mention to the Charlee and Lisa who were very friendly and professional.

Front of house staff are great, felt as if they were pushed to seat everyone, food was OK, drinks didn't arrive until we finished our meal, was told I only have 1 bar staff on and drinks were just dumped on the table, I understand your busy but a little more courteous goes a long way.

Poor food it was cold and the quality was not great either, we stayed at the hotel next door and should have gone to a different restaurant, would definitely not recomend.

Came Saturday 24th August, lady booking in managed to get us an earlier table which we really appreciated. Food was lovely but the best bit is the waiting staff, very friendly, helpful and amenable especially our male waiter, Rob.

Not great. The prawn cocktail arrived with a slice of white bread, unbuttered and not fully defrosted. The bbq smothered chicken was ok. There was no salad (it is advertised on the menu as having salad) , just coleslaw. The chips were ok and the chicken was ok until I spotted a black "thing" underneath the chicken. It was the congealed burnt fat you find at the bottom of the grill pan. It had solidified into a black burnt mass about 3 inches by 2 . Horrible. I spoke to the manager who was lovely and offered me a free drink or desert which I declined. She thought the black mass was burnt/melted cheese but it wasn't. I had a tiny taste and it was definitely burnt, black, congealed fat. Vile. Breakfast the following morning was ok. The eggs were cold and hard and had clearly been cooked many hours before. Not a great experience.

what a great place, pleasant staff, quick service , plenty of space in large car park. great choice of food and very tasty. easy to book a table on line.

We popped in for lunch on a Tuesday. Loads of choice between the full menu, 8 for less than £8 menu and a good kids' menu. Food arrived quickly, really hot and plentiful and staff were friendly and professional. Highly recommend.

We were seated within 2 minutes of us arriving at the front desk. Our waitress, Pat, came to take our orders and informed us that as the restaurant was very busy there could be a delay on food. Our drinks came promptly and our food arrived within 10 minutes of the order being taken. All in all, we were there for 1 hour and in this time had a 3 course meal. Food was hot and portion sizes were excellent. Big thanks to Pat for being so friendly and welcoming. An asset to the restaurant.

Ordered a mixed Grill...You could tell it had been cooked earlier also everything was covered in Black Pepper to give the impression it was hot food..absolutely disgusting..no way I could eat it..managed about a 1/3...The most disgusting meal out ever. Waitress offered for me to speak to the Manager but short staffed so he didn't need my complaint...Never again and best avoided in my humble opinion

Not normally a fan, but £5.00 for good Fish and Chips with unlimited Chips cannot be argued with.

Clearly a place that doesn’t expect people to return and very much for people passing through. Not an ounce of care taken to cook or plate the food. Poor quality. A waste of money. Slightly fearful my child and I may get food poisoning. I would avoid.

We made an impromptu visit during a long journey. Despite being informed on arrival that they were very short staffed tonight, the food arrived quickly and was cooked to perfection. We both ordered steaks, which were cooked exactly to our liking and better quality than we were expecting. We will definitely call in again when we pass through the area next year.

The lady who served us on Tuesday the 6th.. long blonde hair and glasses was fantasic... so lovely with my toddler :)

Visited with my mum and daughter on her 5th birthday when she was doing half days starting school and we had the most wonderful time. Mark served us and spotted it was my daughter’s birthday; he went off and put together a lovely party bag of things for her including a colouring book and colours. It was really lovely and made our day! Outstanding service!

Ensure you order a kids' pudding at the time of ordering from the kids' menu or you will be charged £0.99 additionally. Don't expect to be informed of this at the time of ordering. From the member of staff when we realised - 'its only 99p'. Not impressed.

Very poor service we were watched over all the time we had food,my partner ordered steak sandwich which was nearly all grizzle ,and they refused to cha ge it.

Absolutely terrible. Our table was dirty and I had to ask for a cloth to clean it my self. The food was awful.

Beefeater attached to Premier Inn Frome attract many to the hotel also. Food is okay. They offer dinner and breakfast combo deals, which are attractive. They provide kids' menu, including the option for pizzas, and that would be interesting to the young ones.... They allowed us to bring food to our room, which made us comfort.

Awful restaurant. Went in and they had no chips and no peppercorn sauce (if any restaurant “doesn’t have chips” that suggests to me it’s all just being heated as it’s so easy to make chips with potatoes…) ordered the half chicken and it came pink and slimy and watery on the inside and you would be lucky to get one fork full of chicken. All guests were crammed into one room near the window and it was far too warm. Service was not good - when the food did come we were not offered any sauces. Also had the nachos starter and it came all clumped together - we were able to pick up the whole plate with one nacho…left and ended up going to the nearby Asda for bits to take home and cook instead. The only reason they are still in business is because they are situated next to a Premier Inn and will be getting the footfall from there.

One of the worst beefeater I have ever used. Never has full menu. Never any spare seating. Must book or you have to wait for over hour. If your staying at the Premier Inn you are tied to it as there is nothing else for miles. Never enough staff on yet each time I have had to stay in the hotel the car park is full of guests but the restaurant has no staff or food. It is a shame.

Went in before staying at the hotel next door, half the menu they couldn’t serve, but didn’t inform us until we tried to order it, served by a lifeless waiter, food slow, despite not being busy, normally no problems with beefeater but this one was terrible

Just been for a meal at the Frome Flyer and it was fabulous, my steak was cooked perfectly and oh so tasty but the highlight of the evening was Pat the young lady who served me, she is an absolute star, great sense of humour, friendly, great at her job especially considering they were busy and the weather was roasting, they say that a company's staff are it's greatest asset, well Pat certainly is a great asset

First time at this beef eater, food was great service was great didn’t wait long for food staff were fantastic!

We rated 4 for food as the prawns were over cooked and tasted of very little. The ribs were great. Our server was Pat & we couldn't fault her. She was very efficient helpful and friendly, but for all her talents she wasn't expected to add flavour to the prawns!

Went in 4.40 Thursdays afternoon jun20th happy to. Hose bar table and order due to restaurant closed . We ordered off main menu . Starters came and I asked and checked which sauce was which but although ordering two different ones they tasted identical also double crunch chicken greasy.we waited to have table cleared but no …. Mains arrived and the lad said shall I take this away referring to starter plates to which I said yes. MY order was wrong so had to go back .and my partners meal was correct although multiple issues over cooked chicken would have made great boot soles . My gammon was only a small size 4-5ox yet had ordered the bigger one and my peas were cold in the middle. MY plate was swimming in oil and grease and gammon was awful greasy tasting and not pleasant…. Waited for someone to come back but no one. Are so we left . Very poor .

The food is simple fare but well cooked and tasty. The staff are really helpful and personable, especially Natalie.

Pie and chips pie was rock hard,mixed grill was the worst I have ever had gammon overcooked sausages hard really not good at all won’t be back

What an awful experience. Children’s starters were all missing sauces. Just a handful of tortilla chips with some chopped tomato. Menu stated dips. Children’s main meals were either under cooked or over cooked with grey corn on the cob. Garlic bread was solid. Adults steak was over cooked and very fatty. Waiting times were awful. Would definitely not recommend to anyone. Will not be going back. Such a shame as last time we went with the children it was lovely. Out of six meals ordered only one was ok which is not good when you go out as a family.

Large party of us for a birthday with children. Food was good all arrived promptly and correctly. Good quality and good service. Staff were friendly and helpful accommodating a large cake and providing a box for leftovers. Everyone left happy and well fed.

I went last time reason why I gave it one star I went for breakfast the fruit mix had a bug in it that was Alive but exempt from that it is OK and I have been going there for 12 years what is crazy Accept from Finding the bug in the food, I thought that Yes. Disgusting on a sleep rubbish because off it and I am scared off bugs and this employee was such a idiot when I asked for a fork she gave me a onion

I think it must of been the first day or something for the servers. When we ordered the lady asked if she should get a notepad? When we recieved our meals they confussed us a bit, we ordered a sirloin, medium rare and a Fillet , rare, along with a burger. The sirloin was in fact rump and the Fillet was Sirloin. The tomatoes looked like they had been drop kicked by Finn Russell, the Mac and cheese was more anemic than an albino who's just got back from a fortnight in Greece. No one came to check on us, although the place was almost empty. No one came over to see if we wanted deserts. When we went to pay the staff where to busy chatting amongst themselves to enquire how it was. The card machine was thrust into our face to pay, like a childs filled nappy. Not great service at all !!

Dear Beefeater Restaurant Management (not the drunk manager on shift most evenings), I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received during my recent visits to your establishment in Frome. Unfortunately, the experiences fell short of the professional standards expected from a reputable dining venue. On several occasions, I encountered a significant delay in ordering and receiving food, with wait times exceeding 30 minutes even to place an order, even during periods of low activity. Additionally, the food quality was disappointing, as meals arrived cold and seemed to be hastily microwaved. Moreover, I found the behavior of the manager and staff to be loud obnoxious and unprofessionally rude. The manager’s conduct was particularly concerning as she was drunk and on her phone most of the time, and the overall atmosphere created by the team was not conducive to a welcoming dining experience. I have frequented many hotels and restaurants due to my work commitments, and I regret to say that the level of rudeness and poor customer service I experienced at your restaurant was unparalleled. I hope this feedback is taken constructively. My colleagues did warn me about the poor service standards of Frome BE but lesson learnt.

Booked a room at the premier inn for the night as going to longleat safari. Decided to have food onsite as had spent 3 and 1/2 hours driving and didn’t feel like travelling for food. Had a booking for 19.00 arrived at 18.50 the restaurant was really busy so didn’t mind waiting 15 minutes to be seated. Got seated, our drinks order was taken straight away. We had seen online that they do an evening set menu 3 courses for £18.99, however they no longer do this. Ordered our food. 30 minutes had gone by and no drinks, but a table behind us had been seated after us, ordered their food and drinks and received their drinks 10 minutes after ordering them and we were still waiting for ours 30 minutes later. Asked a waiter about our drinks, waiter was short and rude towards us and said there was one person on the bar and drinks will arrive when they arrive and walked off before we could say anything. We could see the bar where we were sitting, and there were 4 people working on the bar. Food came before our drinks and drinks finally arrived 45 minutes after ordering them. We understood that it was busy and there was a big table of 12 sat behind us. We ordered the prawn skewers and the bacon burger, the prawns and chips were cold and the burger was small and not worth the £18 is priced at. Ordered one of the refillable drinks the glass was small and they fill it up for you. As it was impossible to get or find anyone during our meal this only got filled up once and was a waste of money. The big table left around 20.15 and all the waiting staff disappeared, got asked if we wanted dessert we said yes. Took 30 minutes for someone to come and take our dessert order by this time the restaurant was quiet and the waiting staff were more busy in setting the tables for breakfast and not tending to the people still in the restaurant. After we had our dessert it was 21.30 and I asked for the bill, was told that the waitress who had been dealing with us would need to do this, she was no where to be found but was told someone would go and find her. Waited 20 minutes and still no sign. I asked someone else for the bill and was told the same thing, I explained that I asked 20 minutes ago for the bill and was still waiting. My bill was given to me. Couldn’t give me a receipt as had no paper anywhere. The food in general was okay, I did think it was a little over priced for what we got. The service from the staff was just awful, I appreciate that it was busy when we first arrived but even when it got quiet the waiting staff were no where to be found. We didn’t leave the restaurant until 22.00 cause of how long it look to be severed. We did have breakfast booked for the next day however we canceled our booking and went else where due to the poor service we had received. I also noticed that other guests in the same section were experiencing the same thing, I over heard one couple talking about how long they had been waiting for someone to take their order they entered the restaurant at 20.30 and it was quiet.

Good value breakfast, able to goback for seconds if wanted. Food was well cooked, hot and enjoyable

The lady behind the bar was really lovely - she gave me an orange kit kat ! Food was absolutely delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful, every single visit just gets better!

We've ate at the Frome Flyer over four days and can't fault the food or service in any way. Our daughter is Autistic and struggles with some foods/ smells as well as social settings. Tim and Dani deserve special praise as they put us on a table that was the best possible placement for us and made sure that it was reserved for us each meal time. It means a lot to have that personal service. The fact is the staff were all lovely and its clear that its linked to their leadership.

Well exceeded our expectations! My wife and I enjoyed our meal with ease and comfort. We are grateful to the professional and friendly team here. Highly recommended, simply superb!
