Coffee good obviously,food could have been hotter but we accept that at spoons now

Went for lunch today and ordered two small fish and chips. When it came out was overcooked and mine was the tail of the fish. I went to speak to them and explained I had ordered small fish to be told that is what I got. I pointed out there was actually no fish but dried up batter and the tail of a fish. The person behind the counter said they get one fish and split it into two for the small fish menu. All she said she could cook another but would come out the same. A fish fingers would have hador fish on it. It came with 20 chips and oversized amount of peas. If you go to any chip shop or restaurant and get small fish you expect to get a bit fish not just something that had been put on fryer from previous day. The service was poor do not waste your time going here there is no customer service involved just rude people takingoney for reheated dried up food. I will carry on going to Dorchester branch where you are served fresh good quality food with a smile.

Spoons is spoons! Great layout with large beer garden. Good selection and amount of tables. Food was quick and lovely. Good choice of drinks.

Food was bad even for a Wetherspoons. Ordered: chicken wings - looked like they were from lunch service an re fried (inedible) Katsu curry - wasn’t katsu curry, was a Chinese curry on rice Onion rings - stone cold Ham egg and chips - egg was congealed and ham was gristly Burger - dryer than the Sahara desert All paid for via Wetherspoons app, told the waitress that the food was unacceptable and she, in fairness, said “would you like a refund”, however I doubt this will ever actually happen. 🙄 Steer clear.

On the high street, without its own car park. There is a pay car park at the rear but then you have to walk back round the front as there is no rear access. A bit of a trek for disabled customers

We always come to the Lantokay and sit at the same table the staff are all friendly but one stands out as always takes time to speak to us and is always bubbly and polite, her name is Abby

Went today for lunch had chargrilled chicken and maple bacon salad the chicken had no taste it was like it had been taken out of the freezer and just sliced not chargrilled not appetising at all had a merlot it was out of a tap and was fizzy, the manager said that it was normal!! Will not be going back

We regularly frequent the Lantokay and over our last few visits where we have eaten , we can honestly say the improvement to the food side of the business is 100% , what ever the reason new staff , new management.....keep it up a Massive difference...well done !!!

Like every spoons this place is good for two things, 1. Cheap lifeless drinks (will give you a gross hangover) 2. Cheap tasteless hangover cures (will actually make you feel worse)

Grace gave us a very open and welcoming feeling today. She has a great atmosphere and brang great joy to us all. She was so polite and had time to talk to me and my family. Thank you grace for your great customer service

UPDATE: After speaking with the pub manager Tom to raise my concerns he agreed to address them and I agreed to amend the review. This however is on the understanding that he deals with the staff members that are proven to lie and bully people. If this doesn't happen I will give a full and fair report here.

By far the worst breakfast I’ve been dished up in years - anywhere, let alone a Wetherspoons! Appalling service from start to finish. Food was appallingly bad. Waited for over half an hour for breakfast to come out (a good ten minutes after people who ordered the same breakfast 15 mins after us) and what was dished up consisted of burnt, yokeless eggs, cremated bacon, undercooked hash browns, past its best sausage, a thimble of baked beans (literally 12 beans on a large breakfast) and burnt toast and all of it stone cold. Lady with long dark hair didn’t give the slightest toss, walking off with excuses before I’d even finished talking - the height of bad manners when people are talking to you. Customer service was non existent. I’m sure Tim Martin would be so proud of this p@@@ poor excuse for a Wetherspoons. To be fair this branch has always been average at best but if you have chefs (if you could call them that) that can’t even cook an edible breakfast then you don’t deserve any form of customer loyalty. Maybe stick to the cheap beer you dish up as you’ve given up on any pride in your disgraceful food. Most certainly n won’t be back

Weather spoon Need to Tain there safe to have understanding of the elderly people and show respect This Day and Age , The young boy waiter age 17 years need to get some manners he spoke to a elderly Lady with a mobility scooter after eating her Breakfast He approached her saying weatherspoon policy he can KICK her out for eating her Banana when she was eating her last bit of black pudding she paid for This lady must have been 80 years old I hope he doe not speek to his grandmother like that ????

Called there today for lunch no gammon no lime for drink hardly any beer attitude of staff was no interest whatsoever I'd give it a miss

I attended this Wetherspoons solo for a couple beverages, and had one of the greatest nights out I've had in a while, I was particularly impressed by a member of staff called Alfie who was by far one of the friendliest most catering bar staff I have had the pleasure of dealing with. The food was what you would expect from a Wetherspoons but I had no complaints about the mixed grill it was hot and tasted amazing. the atmosphere was great, a mixture of young people and middle aged, all the way to the elderly enjoying there coffees. It is refreshing to go to a local pub and see the whole village coming together and having a good time. I read some of the views on this site and didn't know what to expect but if anything, it just reminds you how most reviews are just nasty people moaning about small things to distract themselves from their boring lives, and these people are not to be taken any notice of, to wrap up I want to give this Alfie a big thank you and hope the management see this and give him some sort of reward for the level of service and class he gives the public house. It was not just me who thought this about the young man I saw him bouncing about providing great hosting to many customers he evidently had built a relationship with. As far as the food goes yes, its not the Ritz, but as far as making your money go far you wouldn't find a better place to go. and the atmosphere was welcoming and more like a social club than a pub. To anyone in the local area i couldn't recommend a better place to go and socialise.

Had breakfast on Friday morning. My food arrived cold, and when I asked for a new one, a woman with glasses, told me that it’s not cold because it’s fresh. I didn’t receive a hot breakfast, so I just left VERY UNHAPPY!!

Food had to go back as got 1 tiny bit of lettuce in the burger and the smallest portion of chips i have ever seen then when it came back the to the table the sauce wasn't in the burger and the chips stone cold in the middle will never return food quality was absolutely disgusting

We ordered a small breakfast and a traditional breakfast but when our food arrived we had a big breakfast and a small breakfast instead. You would have thought that we would have been happy apart from the fact the beans were cold,the eggs were cold and like rubber and the bread was scared by the toaster. Have been before and is getting worse. Very disappointed. Will not return

This Is the 3rd review of this, my local☹️ So its Friday night and the guy in front of me is just trying to order a pint of Cask Bitter, everything he asks for is apparently no longer available, even though the Pump clips beg to differ, so I chip in to the dozy purple haired Barmaid that it may me a good idea to maybe remove the pump clips of Beers that are no longer available to save confusion and disappointment, "Ooh we're not supposed to do that" she says........I rest my case..😞😞😞😞😞

Would have given a zero if possible. Not enough staff on and an hour wait for food - the spoons app doesn't tell you this before you order. No apology from staff. With the wait time on the kitchen the staff should have stopped taking orders via the app. Food wasn't the hottest by the time it turned up, but out party couldn't risk sending it back and being yet another hour wait. Not the first time we've had issues woth food at this establishment. Will not be visiting again, and would advise anyone who wants to eat in a sensible time frame to visit - they never have enough staff on, and dont seem to learn from issues.

Used the app for the first time. As a retired System Designer I was very impressed. Quick setup. Easy to navigate. The floating Pay Now button is much better than a basket. I'll be back! 😄

Went in to have a breakfast with some friends it came out cold, the staff the few I seen seemed to busy chatting and one playing on his phone to worry about the small queue that was forming by the till to order, which I must say most where having a pint with breakie at 9am will not be returning

Does what it's says on the tin. Cheap booze, cheap food. Not the place to go if you are into fine dining but if you want cheap and cheerful, this is for you.

I was with a vegetarian for breakfast and she asked for the American pancakes with maple syrup it and an extra of two tomato halves. It came out with bacon on and only one half of a tomato we asked for it to be replaced within 10 seconds it came back. It smelt of bacon and only 1 halved tomato, at the extra cost of 0.59p. I asked for it to be replaced and it came back over 5 mins later. When I spoke to the waiter he said he was asked to remove the bacon on the first one and take it back out. He did what he was told and removed the bacon on the first one. I am totally angry as the vegetarian was really upset

I had £20 less from the balance and I approached the bar lady to inform her of the issue. She assured me that she gave me the correct balance but she would check the cash register to confirm that she had given me the correct amount. However, she did this on her own and without involving me in the process. I had already anticipated the answer what she was going to give me, “the balance amount gave was correct” even though it was not. To make matters worse, she made an offensive statement insinuating my integrity and probity, that “I may be frequently doing this ”. I believe that her insulting statement was racially charged since I am an Asian. This conduct is not only unacceptable but also illegal.

We asked 2 different staff to clear our very messy table, so we could use it, the second one cleared half of it, left all the half filled glasses and all the unused sauces, so we sat and ate, with all that at the end of the table, we go every week, but yesterday was the last time. The last 2 times we been there, the mocha has not tasted very nice, it was our favourite drink.

The food is garbage. The people work there do really well in such a terrible place to work.

It was really a bad thing, when we ordered 3 steaks and the staff only charged 1 and that was exactly the bar staff's fault, we didn't know about the price and didn't pay attention to it. Because we waited so long, we asked. The female manager and she even spoke loudly to us that even part of the meal had changed color and I thought it was an old meal, when the waiter brought out that steak and they forgot sauce. I had to remind them to give it to me, I've been here many times but everything was normal until this time 🙂

Food was good, all arrived what we had ordered. Ordered 2 rounds of drinks waiting 20 minutes, both times went to the bar to investigate where they were. People were vaping at the table inside 😕 bot sure if this was allowed as didn't see any security as per usual.

Good prices and varied menu but fish came in 2 thin pieces which looked odd.

It's a weatherspoon so I'm not expecting much more than ok.. but the mushroom we were served with a 'gourmet' steak was a joke... Come on chefs at least try...

When we got there, the tables were sticky with food all over them (as was the carpet), and the server seemed put out when we asked for them to clean them. We ordered 2 cups of tea to begin with, and both cups were dirty and smelled like old dish water. I had to wait ages to get a replacement from the barman who was so engrossed in a conversation with his mate, he seemed to forget where he was or even what he was employed to do. My GF ordered the half chicken. When it came out 40mins later, the chicken looked as if it'd been stepped on and the sauce had been poured into the carcass rather then on the meat. They got the meal wrong for one of the customers on the table next to us, who also noticed and comented the general mess and food everywhere. The glasses were stacked sky high on almost every table and there were dirty dinner plates and cutlery everywhere. Awful experience. Awful place.

Absolutely diabolical!! After waititng 40 minutes for food, it was given to the wrong table. We were then shouted at by the waitress, for saying it it been given to the wrong table. Two out of three was given their meal, and the third had to wait a further 45 minutes to receive a cold, sad looking meal. We complained and was told we could have a free drink or a £5 voucher. We chose the voucher and on our way we went. Cue trying to use the voucher, only to be told there was nothing on it. Absolutely joke of a place!! Avoid

Very nice pub, only called in for a coffee ☕ didn't eat any food but it looked very nice. The coffee was good and as many refills as you wanted

Disgusting, every table loaded with left food and drinks which you have to move to get a table. We were there good 3 hrs and only when we left did it look 💯 times better

Wrong order received - bar staff swore black was white - no I don’t like baked beans - why would I order the them? So rude and completely unnecessary

visited on 12-2-24 at 7.15 pm and went to order 2 fish/chips 1 burger 1 hunters chicken only to be told fish no longer available so reluctantly i opted for gammon egg and chips which when it came I wish I hadn't,the only good thing were the chips,the egg was rubbery and the gammon was that tough you could have put it on the sole of your shoe,it was as they had prepared it earlier and just re-warmed it!! The following morning before returning home decided to try spoons again(big mistake)for breakfast our wives had jam/toast and we had a large and small breakfast when it came it was warm not hot not very appetising so I can honestly say we are regular spoons customers wherever we go and I personally don't think this establishment is up to standard compared with all the others we have visited.

17 Feb. Ordered my usual small cod chips and peas. Came with beans - I loath beans. Took to bar asked politely for peas as there had been a mistake and the arsey woman behind the bar told me that she had asked 3 times peas or beans!!! In that case why had she said Mushy or Garden? I never order beans SO RUDE. Fortunately the lovely young helper in the kitchen sorted it out and was an absolute sweetheart.

Disappointed with food this visit, weatherspoons used to be good value for money but as time has gone on the prices have kept up ( which I understand) but the quality and quantity is not good. I ordered a cheese and tomato panini, there’s was hardly any cheese , lukewarm and dry. I had to load it up with mayo to be able to swollow it. Rest of food was not hot, in general very disappointing. The blackcurrant and soda was nice though.

The staff are friendly and provide excellent service to customers. The food is beautiful and the prices are affordable. The pub is always clean and the atmosphere is great. There is an outdoor smoking area where you can sit down and enjoy a cigarette in a covered area. Definitely recommend!!

After the makeover looks really good. Come here on regular occasions to enjoy atmosphere and have a nice meal. Wouldn't say is the best meal but is decent enough and worth the cost. Service is fast and wi-fi access is good and makes ordering through the weatherspoons much easier. No need to queue at bar if you have table makes this app very useful especially on busy days. Is worth visiting for a good cheap night out or for a meal with friends. Update:- 31/01/2024. Seating needs a new makeover as looking very untidy and worn. Staff still friendly and helpful. Meals still decent and reasonably priced. Last few times been unable to order from table due to App not working. I have now downgraded from 4* to 3*

Standard Wetherspoons fare, good quality, excellent value in a comfortable setting. A cozy log fire in the lounge area.

It's ok if you want to keep warm friendly staff all round not bad

Four of us ordered food, three arrived wrong and the fourth arrived on a dirty plate covered in dry egg yolk. The cutlery on the table was also dirty. When we asked a server they replied "I don't know, I don't put it on the plate" and walked away, without offering a replacement/refund. The last time we ate here (about 6 months ago) we were put off by the flies in the windows and hole in the ceiling. We wouldn't have given them another chance however everywhere else was fully booked. Regretting it now. Avoid this place!

Horrified at the state of the place. Dishes piled high everywhere you looked, meals being delivered to tables with dirty dishes from previous costumes still on their. Found a table a moved to dishes from it, wiped with some wipes I had. Went to get a drink only to see the que, not enough staff behind the bar, then noticed food being sent back because it was cold. Decided to leave. Found the bear down the road. Fantastic place. This is the worst weatherspoons I've ever been in. Really bad management. Staff training needs to be improved.

Absolutely the worst weatherspoons I've been into. Dirty dishes piled high everywhere you looked, where people had moved dishes so they could sit down. Food being delivered to tables with the last costumes dishes still on their but no attempt being made to clean the table for the costumer. I found a tables and moved the dishes to the side.Went to get a a drink and not enough people serving. Never got a drink. Saw people sending food back as it was cold so decided not to bother. Walked past 3 hours later and the place was still the same. Really bad management.

Not sure how they had glasses to serve drinks as there were ZERO clean tables and multiple tables piled high. Took a cloth from the bar and cleared a table for ourselves. That should have been our cue to go. Chicken was hot but fries cold and halloumi rubbered. No tissue in the bathroom. Really wishing we went to the clean looking pizza place down the road. The guy who brought the food was lovely but obviously exhausted. Seriously need to hire staff.

Dirty tables buried under piles of dirty plates and glasses, a 45 minute wait for cold tasteless food, all of the sauce and mayo bottles empty with no hope whatsoever of getting them refilled because the staff appeared blissfully unaware of the general state of the establishment even to busy to wipe the very sticky dirty tables, customers complaining, Spoons should never be this bad. Seriously avoid this one.

Came to enjoy a nice burger at my favourite spot in town - which I normally consider a hidden gem in the heart of Somerset. Upon its arrival there were soggy burger crumbs on the side of the plate - which I did not chose as an extra incase you were wondering. Such a shame that this once great establishment has sunk its way down here.

An open fire! Very very clean, happy and hardworking staff. The food was nicely cooked and served with a smile. A very popular place to meet and eat.

We visited on a Saturday early afternoon, for a lunch. It was very busy, but we managed to get a table for 4 and ordered meals and drinks on the app. After waiting for 25 minutes, I went to the bar, to see if our order had got lost, as people were walking up to the bar and being served. I was told that there was a 30 minute delay, as only one server was making drinks ordered on the app for the whole restaurant. If I had ordered at the bar I could have had my drinks straight away. Our drinks arrived shortly after, two cold drinks and two empty cups for hot drinks. After we had got the hot drinks, I approached the kitchen to see how much longer for the food, to be told 5 more minutes. So approximately 30 minute wait for drinks, and 35 minutes for food. This was my worst ever Wetherspoons experience. I won’t use the app again.

You don’t have to expect too much from a Spoons, however we use this as a meeting and drinking place. Not sure about food but it’s about the only pub in Street that adheres to published opening hours and mostly have a decent selection of ales! Get to know the staff and your laughing.

Have to say how much we enjoyed our visit today. We meet up to have breakfast and lots of cups of tea!!! It was getting very busy today but everything was cleared away and tidied very quickly. Excellent bar staff i think manager served me (table 25!) Very nice man. Thank you for a great breakfast aswell.

The food that me and my wife had was not as hot as it should be. It may have been waiting to be served too long. I spoke to the waiter but he appeared to ignore me. He may have been wearing an earpiece He did swap one gravy boat. This was not adequate though.

Awful place. Waited for a hour for a disgusting meal. Everybody around us complaining about poor service. Staff rude and surely. Would have walked out if we had not paid.

Ingredients chosen for price rather than quality and small cod was about the size of a large fish finger. Chilli arrived luke warm and friendly staff quickly reheated it.

The breakfast was cold with slightly tanned soft bread(which they call toast). I asked to for the four bacon rashers as extra, when it was served, I noticed they had not given me the standard bacon. The baked beans were not even slightly warm with the rest of the meal only having vague warmth. Would not recommend and won't be returning.

Just went in to the lantokay and regrettably had to walk out as the staff were just stood around chatting and i counted 6 tables that had discarded plates and glasses and makes me wonder if thats the cleanliness that the public see god knows how the food prep areas are ...disgusted at the lack of care ...no wonder that weterspoons are shutting pubs up and down the country

Friendly atmosphere and great service. Love the food and drinks, same quality as any other spoons. I felt a little bad for asking for a straw after my drink came but they were happy to grab me one. Place is clean and tables are sectioned out well.

My wife and I have walked pass when visiting street but never been in until a few weeks ago very busy .we had a refillable coffee then we decided to have a meal and soft drink good value for money service and atmosphere. Will call in again when visiting street and clarks shoe village.

Every day, I think of this place , whether that be at home or anywhere else that takes up my daily life. If you're looking for a place to have a couple drinks and eat some indescriably scrumptious food, then The Lantokay is the place for you. As it's my most local pub, I never fail to meet people that I've not seen for ages. The best part of this establishment is that even if you don't know anybody, the people and the staff are incredibly friendly and social and are always happy to indulge in a chat with you. The drinks are super cheap and affordable which creates good nights with your mates. My favourite pint would have to be a good old Thatchers Haze or Gold. If I were to choose a cocktail drink, I would have to go with their tropical pitchers which are all great drinks to have for the whole night. They also have incredible offers on these pitchers so you can order pitchers for the whole table and drink the night away with your friends. To end it, I will never fail to keep coming back to this place and it's an incredibly social pub that creates a welcoming environment for everyone who enters.

Nice enough food, exactly as you'd expect. There were plenty of tables available around noon on a Sunday and we were able to order easily on the app.
