Toby Carvery in Bournemouth

6 of us had the carvery - lovely seasonal crumble/sponge highly recommend with custard. The meat portion do seems to be getting much small nowadays but we enjoyed...2.5 slices!

Amazing food as always, our waitress Maddy was very friendly and super attentive, couldn’t reccomend her more! We will be back soon

Beef was tough we couldn't eat it, vegetables were mediocre, sprouts obviously frozen. Very poor value. Need to review your quality control procedures.

Always a lovely welcombe every time we come to this Toby, from Sarah,Carol,Leanne,Chris,Macie, Vicki,Patrick,just to mention a few,i have been coming to this pub for a very long time,and it has never dissapointed me,the food is always nice,from breakfast to lunch.What does annoy me is the amount of people that fill their plates up with as much as you can eat veg,then leave half of it,a complete waste.I have booked up for Christmas Lunch and i am very much looking forward to it...

BEWARE - WARNING - PLS GIVE YOUR VEHICLE REG ON ENTRY, or risk £155 PARKING FINE.! (NOW REMEDIED, thanks to proof of purchase from our visit back in 2022 😳& help from Chris ) Way Back in sep 2022, We had popped in for a breakfast, we’d arrived just in time, as we were late, what food was left, was a bit sad looking and dried up. Staff were scarce, but the interactions I did have (as I also had ordered a few drinks- paid in cash) staff were polite, but busy, I assume cleaning up and getting ready for lunch shift, mostly behind-the-scenes. I have amended my initial review, thanks to Chris & his attention to customer service, his help voiding the unwarranted/ excessive parking fine, Ultimately, I’d suggest get there early for a fresh breakfast, and make sure you give staff your vehicle details, to avoid unnecessary extortionate parking fines,(pay with card or keep your receipt..just in case). VP Toby is one of my favourite eateries, I often dined at Park Place Micham, I’ve had great times, tasty family meals, especially at Christmas.! Hopefully, this was just a ‘one off’.

4pm visit very quiet and a very nice and polite carver handing out leaflets telling people not to forget to put his name down but it was a shame we had to ask for fresh food that wasn't dried to the bowls he should have paid attention to that so hard peas hard cabbage dried potatoes but the meat was nice. all in all No manners no Interest just the carver wanting his good review absolutely disgusting

Front of house, I’d advise to have someone who’s professional!! Waited approx 10-15mins for our server to approach, I do not eat meat so ordered the house salad with prawns, I was still waiting for my food 10 mins after my whole family had qued and eaten their carvery, my food came as a starter prawn cocktail, so I told them I ordered the house salad with prawns to then be told that’s not part of the menu, however it’s on the menu in your vegetarian, vegan section with no advisory attached!! I then hate to wait a further 10-15 mins for the salad to be made up, so I ate my dinner 30-40mins after my family had finished there’s. My daughter’s roast potato’s had a huge maggot hole running through it and it was big enough to notice before it is served out, totally unacceptable !! I asked my server if I could talk to management which he agreed, however I was in eye shot when he was informing the manager of my dispute and the manager gruffed before he approached and when I told him of my dispute there was no compassion understanding or any form of customer service apart from a “sorry”, I asked to at least have a discount, granted he didn’t charge for my salad, but the whole experience was horrible, the food was near on cold and the staff do not know whether they are coming or going and management are diabolical. I will not ever be returning, and quiet frankly I should have just left and refuse payment, but because there was so many other families in there in close proximity to my table and conversation with management I felt pressured to sit and take what was given to me. A disgrace to be honest and £44 not well spent at all!!!

Lovely meal at Toby today. Great enthusiasm from our meat carver Jake. It’s always nice to have a cheerful chap serving you. Despite how boiling he must be he still has a smile on his face. High five to our waiter Patrick too! Again very attentive, smiling and speedy service. Thank you!

First visit to a Toby and really impressed with the food. We were quite late visiting and I suspect the foods even better earlier in the evening when it’s a bit fresher and warmer hence the 4 out of 5 not 5. BUT very disappointed by the two staff we interacted with I truly hope they’d both had a bad shift and were tired and this wasn’t typical as it wasn’t nice and very poor service. Definitely not service with a smile and we all made an attempt to be friendly to them. I don’t think I’ve ever had a waitress slam a drink on a table like that simply because she’d been very politely asked if after 10 minutes she’d forgotten to bring it out. I’ll try another Toby but not this one.

Potatoes weren't up to usual standard no beef dripping ones or cauliflowers cheese either disappointed.

Absolute loved our server, Vicky. Such a friendly, warm person. One of the best I've experienced. The carvery roast was delicious as usual. Would definitely recommend this place for lunchtime carvery. Don't forget to register your car on entry to the restaurant.

I visited on a busy Sunday afternoon, and there had been hold ups on the roundabout, so many customers of the carvery were late. Their hospitality was top-notch, considering the tough custom around them.

I had a nice meal with my mum. We usually go to this carvery every Tuesday. Today - 8 October 2024, was excellent as usual, nice place with a great atmosphere, and our waitress Meg was her usual pleasant self. I can highly recommend this place.

The vegetables, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were very dry and tasteless. The meats were OK but still on the dry side and the gravy was watery. We'd not go there again.

The most lovely, helpful , welcoming people you could ever wish to meet. Treat us like royalty.

Worst service and food I've ever had from a Toby. Tiny ultimeat carvery, restaurant said speak to deliveroo, they said complin to the restaurant. This was the ultimeat carvery I received. That's all the turkey there was and the rest was cold anyway. Bad customer service and food

Came for breakfast this morning with my partner. The food looked and tasted amazing. We were served by Sarah and Meg who were very friendly, great friendly and relaxed atmosphere will deffo come again

Food was tasty but cold, service was great.

Must admit that, as a vegan, I had reservations about my visit but friends had organised it, so off I went. In fact, there were a couple of vegan options and the ratatouille tart was really quite good and the apple pie was scrummy. We had a lovely time, largely due to the friendly atmosphere and fabulous staff. Will definitely come back.

The waiting staff are great, attentive and friendly. The recent makeover has created a warm comfortable atmosphere. But this is where it starts goes wrong. We queued in the serving area with no staff to be seen, the customer in front of us jokingly suggested we should carve our own food! Eventually a waitress had to go into the kitchen to find a disgruntled chef to carve the meat. Just hope he washed his hands prior to handling the plates. We were served beef which had been so dried out, my leather shoe would have tasted better! The lovely waitress did not hesitate to change the beef for Turkey, we felt for her having to apologise on behalf of the chef. The Turkey and Gammon were passable but certainly not a treat. The roast potatoes were rubbish, what on earth was the chef thinking, putting those wizen, offering out? Even the vegetables were not great, the leeks looked like they had been stewed, Cauliflower in a thick sauce not sure whether that was white sauce or cheese. Come on Toby Cavery, you need to up your game. You have invested in a good makeover, employed great waiters and bar staff, but let it all down with mediocre food! Surely the food should be your unique selling point?

Terrible experience this evening incredibly stingy one slice of meat serving which was the only thing that had any flavour to it. Everything else was tasteless and bland, yorkshire pudding, peas, parsnips & roast potatoes were all rock hard. No lamb available which is the only difference compared to midweek and terrible service. Drinks took half an hour to arrive at which point we had virtually finished our meal and took another 30 minutes once we had clearly finished eating before we were given the bill

Visited toby carvery today and was amazed by the new look the carvery was tasty and all the staff wee amazing upon arrival till departure 👍top notch

The food is always good with a big choice and the staff are nice and helpful. The place is nice and clean and well looked after. We will be back and thank you.

Me my partner and my son came to visit today and it was incredible, the staff were so attentive and lovely! And friendly with my little boy. Jake the carver was incredible and so friendly, nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. We definitely will be coming back!

Food was dry.dishes nearly empty. Meat portions very small .gravy was just warm and congealing.. Very unpleasant meal .

The carvers are always great and friendly especially Jake at Castledene. The queue for food doesn’t work. Surely you could call up table numbers as they’ve ordered and can seat at a table until buzzed or time slot. Surely customers would have more drinks even order starters. (Mainly for busier times. Toby’s are good value for money and the staff are always friendly.

This is a great Toby but you should book over a weekend as it gets extremely busy. A special shout out to the staff as they all work so hard.

Food is very good. With a great selection of roasts. Although the veg can be a little disappointing. A little bit stale and on the cold side.

Waitress was really attentive, chef was okay (a bit abrupt/blunt, not rude) and I guess it’s because it was a bank holiday maybe under more pressure? Food was good, although macaroni cheese dint have much flavour. But we especially the liked gratin, cauliflower cheese (with paprika?🤌🏼), and the veggie gravy.

Today we came to Toby Carvery at Cooper Dean, it was 4 of us, my 2 daughters and my eldest bf wasnt super hungry they they only wanted a kids carvery, while i had adults and Refills for the drinks. When we went up to the Carver (Jake) and said standard or large plate, My eldest and her bf said just 2 x kids vegetarian plates and 1 adult standard which the Carver looked in disgrace at us and the. He then proceeded to go out back and brought back 2 x plastic baby plates for them to which i believed he was trying to embarrass them. then when my other daughter said kids plate he reached under the counter and gave her a china smaller plate ???? 🤔. He was also touting customers to take a piece of paper with a google qr code on it and telling customers to leave a positive review with his name attached 😡! The meat portions i received were very poor and and only had 1 slice of both dried up beef and gammon! i mentioned it to hima and he got salty that i said about it. we then sat down and my Daughters bf came across a hair straight away and asked to see someone , the manager came over and she was more shocked that the carver gave them plastic plates instead of apologising for the hair or the plastic baby plates. This place has gone down hill and with tasteless food and poor staff

We went there today 18/3/18 for a family birthday Food was cold we got served up fatty beef the cauliflower was under cooked very disappointed with the food the carver looked like he didn’t want to even be there. As for getting a drink from the bar one bar man on had to wait a long time for our drinks
