Management/'Owner' DREADFUL! If it wasn't for the two fabulous Chef/Carver my review would have been dreadful. I urge you to read on before coming with anyone with a disability... Upon arrival the carvery was VERY quiet. We asked for a booth as we had two disabled & neurodivergent children with us who were both having an episode at the time. We were informed there were no booths available as they don't have any and the one that was there and empty (in front of us) was kept for an overflow of awaiting customers! (The place was dead and no customers were waiting at 3.45pm!) I asked could we please sit there explaining our situation and the help it would be with children with sensory needs but was categorically told NO regardless of disabilities! I then explained my son's complex eating issues but I was told there were no Yorkshire pudding wraps available, melt down pending I explained he would only eat a slice of meat and a y.puddin' I asked if I could make my own 'wrap' and asked how many Yorkshire pudding I could have on a child's meal and how much meat was included to fill it. Anyone with a child with sensory eating needs knows how hard eating out can be so anxiety was running high and I was praying dinner could be as easy and successful as possible. Anyway, I was told by our server that I could squash 1 Yorkie and add a small amount of meat. It was also mentioned I'd bought him to the wrong place if he didn't like potatoes or vegetables! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Anyway, upon talking to the chefs (Jake and Chris M) they couldn't do enough to help and came back with "we can do little man a wrap. Tell us how he will eat it and give us 3 minutes" MELTDOWN AVERTED and a very happy little boy who actually ate his meal. The wrap was fabulous and the chef even came out to check it was ok with my son asking for a high five!! What a credit to the company. This is the reason I gave the food component 5 stars! However, whilst waiting for the children to eat we decided to do a Google review and upon writing it we found two empty booths away from the front entrance which we couldn't originally see and the original booth we were told we categorically couldn't use was now seating (restaurant still quiet) a table of six having their meal. I asked to speak to the same manager/owner and asked why he'd allowed another family to eat there and not us, explaining again our needs etc. He insisted the family had booked but when I challenged him had they booked that table he said no they had made an exception and seated them there. There were loads of large tables available, so why could they use a table we had been told was solely for an overflow of customers?! Surely we had a need? I calmly and politely challenged him. The management response was "we seated you and you were happy with that. (We weren't and moved) You're welcome to leave a Google review but it will be one of us, well me actually replying to you!" I hope Mitchells & Butler are aware of how their chain is being represented. Toby Carvery, is this your policy on inclusivity.

Our evening at the Toby was just brilliant,,fantastic food and our carver on the night was jake who was the best and made our meal even better

Management were rude and unhelpful but the carver certainly made up for it . He was very friendly , went above and beyond what he had to do to accommodate my daughter’s needs and I couldn’t be happier with our trip. Thank you Jake and Chris M , you are a credit to the company

Visiting Bournemouth from Bristol. Always drove past here but never actually tried it. Today, we managed to get a table. Man on front desk very helpful and friendly. Went up for our carvery and Jake the carver took the time to ask us how was our day, a service you don't get anymore. Jake, you made us feel really welcome. Thank you 😊 We will definitely return on our next visit to Bournemouth.

Visited Toby cavery numerous times and this by far the worst food I've seen . Roast potatoes not edible veg all dried out had to request for the bullet sprouts to be changed will not be coming back to this branch again.

Food excellent as usual. Doom Bar ale was better than my previous visit when it was served very cold.

Had a carvery with my family the other day and it was excellent. Lovely lady ; Gilly, served us and honestly made our night out much better. She made sure we where well looked after and was very attentive to the kids. My boy is a tad shy and quiet but she got him giggling away. The food and atmosphere went hand in hand, very cosy and rustic. The Gammon was delicious and my Guinness was poured to perfection. Very happy and plan on coming back soon

Had a fantastic meal on a very busy Sunday lunch. The food was perfect & the service at the food counter by Jake was spot on! The only downside was that with so many people in there despite it being a winters day it was uncomfortably hot in there.

Always good food and good service here. I love a roast dinner and this ticks all the boxes for me. Tasty 😋 carver was Jake and always friendly and happy

As expected for a carvery, nothing special but good hearty food. Clean table, attentive wait staff even if those serving the meat were a bit slow. Quiet for a Saturday lunchtime.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The chef was so polite his name was Jake and he kept thanking his staff when the brought out more food etc. Very good service and a lovely atmosphere.

Our carver Jake was very lovely, gave me an extra yorkie as I’m veggie and was very good with the one meat eater in our group. 10/10 will come again for Jake alone, give this man a raise

I recently came to Toby’s with my family for the first time in a while, and it continues to never disappoint. The atmosphere was perfect, the food was brilliant - Andrew the chef was lovely and made me feel even more welcome, as did the front of house.

Lovely place for a carvery. Jake was our server on the carvery and was excellent, was very attentive and made sure we had everything we need , even if it was an extra Yorkshire pudding ! Service was lovely and food was delicious, 10/10 would return.

We have a really nice meal, good service and on the plus it was nice and quiet so we didn't need to queue for ages. Jake, who served us the carvery , was a good lad ⭐️

Visited towards the end of service. Only scraps of meat, dried up stuffing, no parsnips, the waitress could not have been less helpful about my wife's gluten allergy. Seriously do not go to this restaurant. Toby carvery, shame on you

Andrew who was carving our meat was exceptional, she should be proud of himself, my daughter had an issue and he understood the issues that she has and helped straight away.

Just ok. Food is not overpriced, unfortunately though we found it lacking in flavour...quite bland. Table servers and food servers were all really nice, a credit to this business. Definitely plenty of customers frequent the carvery, maybe just a bad day or quantity over quality. Will maybe try again next time I'm in the area.

Really nice and quiet place to get a cheap and nice roast ! Andrew the roastman was very kind and attentive.

6 of us had the carvery - lovely seasonal crumble/sponge highly recommend with custard. The meat portion do seems to be getting much small nowadays but we enjoyed...2.5 slices!

It was lovely to be served by Jake who is very upbeat happy, and chatty guy. Clearly loves his job which is refreshing. It was a lovely experience. The only small thing I would say that we didn’t like tonight , was that We got asked for drinks too prematurely by our waitress As we hadn’t yet sat down at the table nor taken off our coats. So hadn’t even thought about drinks. Great place and happy staff.

My sons choice for a birthday dinner on a Monday evening. What a mistake. Service was slow and poor at best. Being a vegetarian I requested the veggie option and was told there would be a slight wait. It turned out to be a long wait as the waitress forgot to tell me it was ready. Upon approaching the carvery area there was no one to ask for the veggie dish. When someone finally appeared from the kitchen they tried to serve a group of lads who were next in the queue despite myself and the lads saying I'd been waiting some time. Food finally dished up we sat to eat, we had ordered 2 portions of pigs in blankets to accompany our meal which didn't arrive until we reminded the waitress who had forgotten to put the order through and had to be cooked. Needless to say we had finished our food before they arrived. The food was not good quality with the potatoes being rock hard and inedible. This is not a venue we will be returning to as the service and food were just unacceptable.

Beef was tough we couldn't eat it, vegetables were mediocre, sprouts obviously frozen. Very poor value. Need to review your quality control procedures.

Always enjoyed this carvery, lovely spot, looks the part. Staff have always been friendly and prompt, food is good. Jake from the kitchen makes the "self service" element feel more personal with friendly talk, quick service and checking which bits we do and don't like! Good work Jake and the team.

Greatly cooked meat and veg food, with good sized portions. Nice layout of restaurant.

Waited 25 minutes to get served at the bar. Then another 20 at the carvery and another 30 for pudding. Service was poor and the meat was average as it was all the last bits. Would not come here again.

Always a lovely welcombe every time we come to this Toby, from Sarah,Carol,Leanne,Chris,Macie, Vicki,Patrick,just to mention a few,i have been coming to this pub for a very long time,and it has never dissapointed me,the food is always nice,from breakfast to lunch.What does annoy me is the amount of people that fill their plates up with as much as you can eat veg,then leave half of it,a complete waste.I have booked up for Christmas Lunch and i am very much looking forward to it...

Went in yesterday for a meal with my daughter was met at the door by a friendly chap called Chris who showed us to our table. We were served by Tia who is very friendly and efficient. Food was lovely will definitely be back. 5 stars from us

As Carvaries go, this is one of the best ones in the south. Good food, good value for money, great chef with a good sense of humour, service was great too, can't fault them and standards are kept. The meat was good too and well cooked. The potatoes lacked a bit of salt but apart from that you can't be too fussy.

Despite being very busy (it was Sunday lunchtime) service was both quick and cheerful. On the day of Storm Ashley, the restaurant was nice and warm as well, which was a welcome surprise.

Overall amazing experience. Very good quality food for a cheap and reasonable price. All waitresses are very kind and helpful especially Heather who served us

Front of house, I’d advise to have someone who’s professional!! Waited approx 10-15mins for our server to approach, I do not eat meat so ordered the house salad with prawns, I was still waiting for my food 10 mins after my whole family had qued and eaten their carvery, my food came as a starter prawn cocktail, so I told them I ordered the house salad with prawns to then be told that’s not part of the menu, however it’s on the menu in your vegetarian, vegan section with no advisory attached!! I then hate to wait a further 10-15 mins for the salad to be made up, so I ate my dinner 30-40mins after my family had finished there’s. My daughter’s roast potato’s had a huge maggot hole running through it and it was big enough to notice before it is served out, totally unacceptable !! I asked my server if I could talk to management which he agreed, however I was in eye shot when he was informing the manager of my dispute and the manager gruffed before he approached and when I told him of my dispute there was no compassion understanding or any form of customer service apart from a “sorry”, I asked to at least have a discount, granted he didn’t charge for my salad, but the whole experience was horrible, the food was near on cold and the staff do not know whether they are coming or going and management are diabolical. I will not ever be returning, and quiet frankly I should have just left and refuse payment, but because there was so many other families in there in close proximity to my table and conversation with management I felt pressured to sit and take what was given to me. A disgrace to be honest and £44 not well spent at all!!!

BEWARE - WARNING - PLS GIVE YOUR VEHICLE REG ON ENTRY, or risk £155 PARKING FINE.! (NOW REMEDIED, thanks to proof of purchase from our visit back in 2022 😳& help from Chris ) Way Back in sep 2022, We had popped in for a breakfast, we’d arrived just in time, as we were late, what food was left, was a bit sad looking and dried up. Staff were scarce, but the interactions I did have (as I also had ordered a few drinks- paid in cash) staff were polite, but busy, I assume cleaning up and getting ready for lunch shift, mostly behind-the-scenes. I have amended my initial review, thanks to Chris & his attention to customer service, his help voiding the unwarranted/ excessive parking fine, Ultimately, I’d suggest get there early for a fresh breakfast, and make sure you give staff your vehicle details, to avoid unnecessary extortionate parking fines,(pay with card or keep your receipt..just in case). VP Toby is one of my favourite eateries, I often dined at Park Place Micham, I’ve had great times, tasty family meals, especially at Christmas.! Hopefully, this was just a ‘one off’.
