The best restaurants serving British food in South West

Cafe needs some attention on serving times for hot food.

We enjoyed an excellent evening meal on a Sunday when many other establishments are closed. There is a free car park nearby.

Left waiting around for ages. Had to find someone to be able to order. When after 45 minutes our order arrived, our steaks were both well done, when we had asked for medium and medium rare. We did mention this to our server, who was very understanding & apologetic. Our new steaks were ok, but not worth the money paid. Bread rolls were stale. No wine glasses. Only thing that was nice was the Salad. The restaurant was not even full, so how they'll manage in the summer I don't know. We were told a steak would be taken off the bill and some drinks given. But they only took the wine off. Seriously understaffed and chef needed who knows what they're doing.

Nice and friendly staff. Bit of que at the bar but it was soughted quickly. The food was great . Nice menu.

Lovely sunday lunch , great staff , friendly atmosphere, had the roast which was delicious and a good size , would go there again when on holiday

We stopped off here for a lunch, and was welcomed by friendly staff. We had bacon and brie rolls that were so good, the bacon was nice and crispy, a delight. We will be back.

Five of us popped in here for lunch. Four meals were good . The chicken and bacon flatbread we ordered had less than a 1/4 of a chicken breast in it . We complained and the waiter said no that’s what you get and just shrugged his shoulders. So one star and we won’t be returning.

Such a lovely atmosphere and everyone is so friendly! Drinks and music are amazing, would highly recommend and will be returning soon!!

The place was busy but service was good and there was a nice atmosphere in the next restaurant. Food choice was also good.

What a lovely meal and so nice to meet Josh, one of the owners. The meal choice at the Pony is pretty simple, it is around £66pp for an excellent 3 course (plus extras) meal. There are I think, 4 choices of starter, main and desert, with optional cheese course. All of the choices were interesting and used local produce. We were a party of 3, so where able to order most of the options. A standout for me was the crab risotto as a starter and the Pork collar as a main. My Wifes whole Cornish Brill was also excellent. The desert selection did not disapoint and the suet apple cake was delicious. A nice feature of the meal was, choosing different breads and wonderful flavoured butters. The view from the restaurant also deserves a mention, as it is stunning.

Amazing pub. The location is fantastic in the sunshine, lots of tables inside and out. Very friendly staff and excellent selection of drinks. Food was absolutely amazing.

main course bought before starter, taken away to await starters. When the main courses returned they had obviously been put in an oven and reheated. Awful and inedible
