Harbour Inn in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Having undergone refurbishment and under new management this Inn has become a great destination for good food and service. Having eaten here several times this was the first time we’d tried the Sunday lunch. It was excellent and the staff were lovely too, very friendly but not overly intrusive. Also dog friendly which also helps. Would highly recommend it. Plus as the weather improves, the excellent harbour side outdoor seating area is a real bonus.

My Nan & myself have visited the Harbour Inn Porthleven a number of times over the years. It never disappoints. The ambience, food & service are all incredible. Food is locally sourced, fresh & portions are ample. There are a wide selection of local drinks too . The welcome & service from staff is always warm & friendly. Today, we were looked after by Caitlin, who was ever so attentive & had great knowledge of the menu. The Harbour Inn is a place that you'll want to return to again & again.

I stayed one night at the Harbour Inn for a work trip. I got a great rate, check in was friendly and efficient- and my room was really lovely. I had a spacious split level room, with large shower room with Elemis products and ample towels, sitting room with comfortable armchairs and a large bedroom - all with an incredible view across the harbour. I could hear the pub but it wasn’t disturbing and even though I am usually the lightest of sleepers I slept so well - must be that sea air! Next morning I enjoyed the nespresso machine and although I left without breakfast it looked great! The staff was very friendly and helpful - and i was really pleasantly surprised at the high level of accommodation.

Stayed overnight as a Christmas gift. Had a lovely comfy room with seating area in bay window, loved that! Enjoyed an evening meal and breakfast next morning. Nathan and team very friendly and hospitable. Will definitely visit again.

We stayed here, as we have done on several occasions previously , for a long weekend in December 2024. Great bed room,plenty of space for the dog and her basket, very clean . A good choice at breakfast and the Sunday Roast was excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful . All in all a great stay.

We visited on a Saturday night in half term, it was very busy and had a great atmosphere, the girls waiting on and bar staff were great as well, the food however was not worth the money in my opinion, all bought in , we had beef ale pie which was ok but not much meat , rock hard carrots and chips as had no mash left , all in all a bit of a tourist trap but very smart inside and the staff were very friendly .

Excellent three night stay - bed, breakfast and dinner at this wonderfully located waterside hotel. Staff were great and service spot on. Room was clean and had a great view over the harbour. Wouldn't normally visit Cornwall in August but had a funeral to attend - this break made the journey and occasion much more palatable.

Food excellent, ambience very good, service at the table very good. However spoilt by an over zealous young member of staff who came out of the restaurant to “accuse” me of non payment when in fact his colleague had taken the payment. His behaviour was as though he had caught a bank robber. When challenged as to why he had not checked with his colleagues he just had a stupid grin on his face. Very humiliating and ruined a great evening after a long journey to start our holiday.

A warm welcome when we arrived, with a free scratch card and plant for all the mothers.(Mother's Day). Service was good and food delicious. Only criticism was roast could have been hotter but loved the veg selection. Also loved the William Morris paper on the ceilings of the ladies. Please put cheese on the dessert menu.

An unexpected visit as we were walking past. Once inside it didn't disappoint. The staff were attentive, the open fire was mesmerising and the roast beef Sunday lunch was amazing. All the veg were cooked perfectly and not mushy. The beef was tender and a good amount. We will definitely come back if we are in Cornwall again

Fantastic Mother Day Lunch 😃 Today was our first meal here since moving to the area. We expected it to be busy as it was. This did not make a difference to the quality of the food and service even by 5pm. They catered well to my gluten intolerance meaning I didn’t miss out on the nice food. We look forward to visiting again soon.

My sister and I stayed at this lovely hotel on a two night break. We walked some of the south west coast path. This hotel was warm and cosy and lovely to come back to . Very comfortable beds.Lovely breakfast. Staff were friendly and informative on the area.Highly recommend a visit here.

A few years back we had a bad experience on a carvery here. We were stuck for somewhere dry to eat and gave it another chance. Salt and pepper fish starter was awesome, followed by a pretty good fish and chips very filling.

Expensive. Poor value. Asked for a starter to be a main. Told its pre weighed therefore have to accept the small portion. Still hungry. Waitress unhelpful. It would appear that there is no cooking involved just heating up pre weighed food. Not impressed

We stayed in Porthleven and drank here everyday of our three days break; St Austell pub tastefully designed and in keeping with its history of a famous fishing harbour, and overlooking the harbour too. The team were exceptional; warm and friendly, working hard to please all their customers. We were watched to Six nations in the restaurant and were fortunate to see the game with good food and ale. All too often St Austell public houses fail to offer their punters great ale such as Hicks; favouring the other two (we all know which) Hicks it’s mine and my brother-in-laws fav and ask for it everywhere. 🍺 Walter Hicks picture features next to the bar as a great attribute to his legacy and the ale is amazing and not recognized enough. Thankfully this pub has it on tap everyday, ❤️ clean pipes and in top condition. 😊 Thank you. We bought into your buy five offer and loved 🥰 both your white and red wines equally 😋. Well done team

We had a table of 7 for dinner. All meals were delicious. The pie is excellent, really good quality and delicious. So many people want the pie on the menu all year round not just winter as it’s a winner. Fish and chips are a must (they always are there). Antipasti board was delicious and had a varied interesting range of ingredients, all of which were a great quality. The venue is always welcoming and staff are friendly and engaging. Great range of drinks. There’s something on the menu to suit all taste buds. Prices are reasonable and reflect the quality of the food, great service and stunning location. I’m a regular, you need to try their outdoor Pizza area in the summer.

This is a lovely pub, next to the harbour. Warm and welcoming interior and lovely staff. The downside is the price of the food, it really is overpriced. I had the steak and ale pie for £17.25. The pie itself was like a £2 small saucer sized pie, mass produced. The filling in the pie was gravy with the odd piece of pea sized meat. What a disappointment. A few chips, half a carrot chopped into 4 slices and half a shallot. My friend had the pie with mash, the mash was frozen mash which she knows as she has this at home. Another friend had the no crust quiche which was a tiny 5 min slice (if you think of a clock). My other friend had a spicy chicken burger with a paltry sized chicken piece in the burger. It’s just so sad that you come away feeling a tad fleeced and it’s such nice place. We did speak to a lovely member of staff who said that the portion sizes are as directed by St Austell Brewery. If the pie and mash had been £12.25 instead of a whopping £17.25 the portions would be justified but not the quality of the food.

We’ve had a perfect evening beyond our expectations- the food was fabulous and the staff amazing. Booked a table for Saturday 21st Oct (this was booked in August) for a family celebration on the first day of our Cornwall holiday. Received a reminder 3 days before of the reservation. On arrival to the restaurant it was very busy, we advised we had a reservation and told to wait. We were then told that the restaurant had a private function and was directed to a table in the corner of the pub, situated underneath a speaker whilst the Rugby World Cup Semi Final was on making it impossible to hold a conversation. We were also advised that we had to order from the bar rather than have them taken by a waiter, on ordering at the bar we had to pay as we ordered despite requesting a tab being set up. Food was good as it always is but the service was well below what is expected - it seemed to us that they had forgot about our reservation and just dumped us in any corner, not the way we wanted to celebrate our occasion!

Great base for walking the coast path - the drying room was invaluable. Really friendly, attentive staff. Food was pricey, but worth the money and faultless. Room really nice. Setting very picturesque.
